Sen. Tom Cotton says he’s open

Sen. Tom Cotton said Wednesday that he’s open to granting legal status to children brought to the U.S. illegally as part of his proposed legislation. “My legislation doesn’t include that now, but what I’m proposing is that we can sit down and negotiate, include legal status for the 600,000 to 800,000 people who are covered by the DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] program, and discuss the problem,” Mr. Cotton, Arkansas Republican, said on MSNBC. “That would create a secondary effect, make sure we’re not opening legal status for people who violated law in the first place, and that we’re

If the wall isn´t a part of any deal, it is dead. The American people will not stand for it.

In 1985 or 86 Full Amnesty was granted under the proviso that borders would be established and enforced. The Dems reneged on the deal.

Build the wall then discuss options.

Cotton used to be conservative. Apparently he too is bought and paid for. And the RINOs of course, all agree. Senator Cotton just got himself voted out of Congress and his GOP challenger voted in. In the mean time, we´re screwed.

Why spend $25 billion on a wall when our politicians are about to give amnesty to 800,000 "Dreamers" and most likely to those who brought them here illegally? Plus all their relatives, friends and neighbors who claim that they are related to the Dreamers? Or, the proverbial horses are out of the barn so let´s really secure the barn door this time.

It is abundantly clear that Democrat politicians have been inventing all sorts of immigration measures over the years to generate millions of new foreign born voters for the Democrat Party. The apparently clueless and wimpy cheap foreign labor supporting Republicans who are beholden to business interests for campaign contributions in return for their support for continuous amnesties and the sabotaging of immigration enforcement matters to make more and more cheap foreign labor available for those interests to hire and keep their labor wage costs depressed, had better wake up of they are going to find that the Democrats in the future will be able to use those new foreign born, and largely socialist oriented, voters to cancel out enough votes of Americans who they refer to as "deplorables" to ensure that Republicans can no longer get elected in many areas, and should look to California as a guide as to what will happen.

Look for the Democrats to expand any future DACA amnesty being debated in Congress to a massive "Chamber of Commerce" type amnesty for just about all illegal aliens, that may in reality cover as many as twenty million people, with a defined "path to citizenship" that is Democrat political code for transforming the current illegal alien population into eventual Democrat voters.

There are already provisions in the immigration laws that can be used by individual illegal aliens to legalize such as creation of record and suspension of removal. All that has been ignored.

The RAISE act is the way forward. Stop chain-migration. The DACA illegal aliens cannot be given citizenship because they would bring in their parents first and extended family second.

The wall and provisions of the RAISE act are necessary, but not sufficient to address the damage done since 1965. Constitutional amendments are also necessary to address SCOTUS misinterpretation of birthright citizenship (aka the "anchor baby" issue), chain migration, and temporary worker rights and status. Deliberate skewing of immigration demographics must also be addressed. Then there are issues of identity fraud. Throw in English as the official language of government, and let´s talk.

Here´s what I think the DACA recipients deserve:

When they get back to the country where they are citizens, we will let them get in line to immigrate legally, in the next available slot, right behind al those people who have saved up, learned English and have been waiting patiently (sometimes for years), even if they don´t otherwise qualify.

Oh, and when they get here, and jump through all the hoops to become citizens, they should never be able to "sponsor" any other immigrants, especially the parents who helped them invade our country to begin with.

Actually, truth be told, they don´t "deserve" any of that, they should be happy to go home without a lengthy prison sentence first.

The ´Trump-is-a-mean-meany´ whiners and screamers are pretending we do not have a LEGAL immigration process. Millions of immigrants from all around the world have used it to become naturalized American citizens in 18 months or less after paying the application fee. Assuming the average of the ´dreamers´ is truly 17 years, an illegal parent(s) who saved just $5.50 a month, would have acquired $594 by the time the child was 9 years old - $1 shy of the current citizenship fee. Why did they not apply then? What is stopping the ´dreamers´ or their parents from applying for legal American citizenship today or tomorrow?

If the laws governing the application process are cumbersome or onerous, it is the job of Congress to change those laws so that those who meet rudimentary health, criminal background, financial and citizenship education requirements can become citizens. I thank God for a president who recognizes this, is not afraid to say so and backs it up with action.

I think Congress should: (1) set a 6-12 month deadline date for dreamers and their parents who meet the requirements and have no criminal history to apply for citizenship and (2) allow low income applicants to pay the fee in six monthly installments. Thereafter any qualified illegal who has not applied for citizenship and completed the payment will be subject to deportation. The funds raised from the 6-800,000 illegals should be designated for the building of the border wall. The $357,000,000 to $476,000,000 will help to pay for it.

Wikipedia has a list of the immigration laws in this country and the dates they were enacted. It may or may not be complete and also appears to be relatively free of left wing commentary - good for historical insight and information. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_immigration_laws .

#14, "heart and compassion" could be anything from outright amnesty (God forbid!!) to setting a deadline to apply for and obtain citizenship. At this point all we can do is write him with our thoughts and pray he will respect the immigration laws. We can also write Congress to encourage them to do right by American citizens. Maybe this time, they will.

Suddenly, it seems like Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) are driving the agenda in Congress. The deal President Trump struck with the two Democrats over the objection of the majority leaders in his own party has at least temporarily upended the balance of power in Washington, emboldening Democrats who now see space to work with Trump on immigration and spending. On this issue, his actions have been more effective than those of past presidents. So far, the assumption that Trump is bungling or exacerbating the crisis with North Korea isn’t justified. Ever since he came down the escalator at Trump Tower that fateful day in June 2015, President Trump’s critics have worried that his anger-management and impulse-control issues would be exposed in an international crisis. Everything we’ve learned about him tells us that he is temperamentally unsuited to diplomacy or putting forward the image of quiet strength and confidence that is synonymous with traditional ideas about good leadership.

Let us define our terms: What is an Act of War? There are two types of Acts of War: de jure, which means as a matter of law and de facto, which means as a matter of fact. There’s a ghost haunting Elizabeth Warren as she ramps up for a possible 2020 presidential bid and a reelection campaign in Massachusetts this year: her enduring and undocumented claims of Native American ancestry. Warren says now, as she has from the first days of her public life, that she based her assertions on family lore, on her reasonable trust in what she was told about her ancestry as a child. “I know who I am,” she said in a recent interview with the Globe. But that self-awareness may not be enough, as her political ambitions blossom.
