Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are among a set of White House aides pushing President Trump to allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to stay, in an effort to get Democrats to fund the president´s border wall. McClatchy reported that the group of White House officials have suggested using so-called ´Dreamers´ as a bargaining chip, in order to check off some of the president´s campaign promises on immigration, including the wall, additional detention facilities, an E-verify system for employers and cuts to legal immigration. However, such a move would break another campaign promise, as candidate Donald Trump had pledged
Cannot believe that Ivanka and Jared could turn Trump into a combo of Rubio, Jeb Bush and Kasich so quickly. If PDT caves on this, there will never be repeal of Obamacare, meaningful tax reform or actual reductions in the size of federal government. And soon, Ivanka and Jared will push for amnesty for 15+ million illegals of all ages. In exchange, Trump will be allowed to have portions of his border wall in areas where few crossings take place. Not good, not good at all. Art of the deal, not!
Jared and Ivanka need to be removed from the Administration and released back to private life. Not NO but HELL NO to Illegals EVER being granted anything but a one-way trip BACK to where they came from!
Of all the campaign promises Trump made, I gotta believe this is the one that his base cares about the most. Obamacare can be dealt with in years to come, if need be, tax reform would be nice, but it can be dealt with later.
But on this immigration thing, if he caves on this, he´s doing long term irreversible damage by opening the flood gates and creating 10´s of millions of dimocrat voters and dependents on the social welfare system.
It never hurts to let our President know what you´re thinking, on this issue or, to remind him that We the People support him despite the constant barrage of lies coming from the jackals and vipers which surround him.
Hey look, my ancestors immigrated to this county legally so why can´t every else? Only grant them citizenship after they each pay a huge fine. Then use those funds to build the border wall. Ba Da Bing!
Javanka needs to head back to the Big Apple. They will be the downfall of POTUS. It breaks my heart because this man has so much to give but I can see more and more the attempted undoing of promises made or compromised due to those two. Certainly, there is someone in the inner circle that can council Pres. Trump to calling the moving van in and heading them back to N.Y. I´v tired of those two. I don´t dislike them, but it wouldn´t be hard.
Jivanka are trouble w/a capital T not only for the POTUS, but the Country.
They need to pack up their Ikea furniture and their cookie baking supplies and return to NYC.. Ivanka can bake cookies for her SS Agents in her NYC penthouse oven.
Ivanka is an over the top, in your face person.. taking her four or five year old daughter to meet the Justice of the SCOTUS when she first descended on DC was a perfect example. Did she really think they have nothing to do all day, but shake hands w/a four year old. They´re flaming liberals whom we did NOT vote for.
I understand the medias attempt to undermine Trump at every turn. But i wouldn´t be surprised if there was some element of truth to this bit. I and others here have mentioned from early on that Ivanka and her hubby are flaming Manhattan liberals who have made no secret that they wish to enact policies that are the opposite of what their father (Trump) promised. And some of us on Lucianne have mentioned our concern about what effect these 2 will have over time. And remember, Trump has been a democrat most of his life too, so it´s not so hard to imagine the effect these 2 may have over the next few years from the left (West) wing. Most of the people he has so far chosen to associate with are either moderate or liberal democrats. So theres that too. It may be nothing, or it may not be smart to completely ignore. So, we´ll be watching.
I believe that Trump´s daughter and son-in-law ought to return to private business and leave the running of the USA to the pros. They have too much influence on the President and their opinions are not those that the ´people´ want or voted for.
The source is probably dubious. Granting citizenship to any anchor baby or dreamer will lead to an influx of extended coattail relatives. No thank you. Should the President compromise himself over this issue, at least get the wall built first as Dimocrats cannot be trusted to keep their part of the bargain, remember how Ronaldus Maximus was similarly duped. I do believe Ivanka and Jared, charming as they are, should probably not be in the White House if they are not 100% with the President´s plans.
If Javanka is actually trying this, those two deserve to be run out of town on a rail. I do not believe this is anything more than a head fake, but I would not put it past those two to try.
This is a big reason I am glad that Gen. Kelly is the gatekeeper now. Not even Javanka get to come barging in anymore without an appointment. These two have to know that to do something like this would stick a spear right in the heart of Trump´s base. We won´t stand for it.
US East Coast residents have been told to monitor Hurricane Maria as it barrels away from the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. The National Weather Service warned on Saturday that the storm, which has already killed at least 10 people in Puerto Rico and 30 in total, now threatens to bring life-threatening swells and rip currents to part of the southeast coast. All of the Mid-Atlantic states - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia and West Virginia - and both the Carolinas were warned to look out for developments on Sunday and Monday. Maria is still a Category 3
US Air Force fighter jets and B-1B Lancer bombers flew over the waters east of North Korea on Saturday. Earlier on Saturday, US and South Korean military jets carried out practice bombing raids. According to the Pentagon, the exercises demonstrated the range of military options available to US President Donald Trump. Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said, "This is the farthest north of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) any US fighter or bomber aircraft have flown off North Korea’s coast in the 21st century, underscoring the seriousness with which we take [North Korea‘s] reckless behavior." "This mission is a demonstration of U.S. resolve and a clear
WU.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer bombers escorted by fighter jets flew in international airspace over waters east of North Korea on Saturday. It was a show of force the Pentagon said demonstrated the range of military options available to President Donald Trump who branded Kim Jong-Un a ´madman´. ´This is the farthest north of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) any U.S. fighter or bomber aircraft have flown off North Korea´s coast in the 21st century, underscoring the seriousness with which we take (North Korea´s) reckless behavior,´ said Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White. North Korea Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho responded to Trump on Saturday: ´Unless true
A-list actor George Clooney, who supported Hillary Clinton amid the 2016 presidential campaign and once hosted a fundraiser for her, said he believes she wasn´t fit for the White House role. Clooney, a 56-year-old new father of twins, spoke during a wide-ranging interview with the Daily Beast where revealed that, while he believes the Democratic nominee was ´qualified for the job,´ she wasn´t a skilled communicator like some of her counterparts. ´Being qualified for the job does not necessarily mean you´re the right person to be president,´ Clooney said in the new interview.
TENS of thousands of people already devastated by the destruction of Hurricane Maria are being rushed out of their homes after a dam threatens to pour downstream onto the stricken island of Puerto Rico. Emergency officials in Puerto Rico raced to evacuate almost 70,000 people away from the eastern dam on the rain-swollen Guajataca River, which will cave “very soon” under the weight of flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Disaster-struck residents of the area were being ferried to higher ground in buses, according to bulletins issued by the National Weather Service from its office in San Juan, the capital
A powerful 3.4 magnitude earthquake has rocked North Korea, sparking fears the nuclear-obsessed nation may have conducted a missile test. The tremor was detected in the Kilju area in the North Hamgyong province hours after Donald Trump mocked ´madman´ Kim Jong-un and the dictator called the US President a ´rabid dog´. The earthquake was felt at 3.30am ET (8.30am GMT) at a depth of zero miles, with China´s official Xinhua News Agency saying it was a ´suspected explosion´. A tremor earlier this month was caused by Kim´s sixth nuclear test so it´s no surprise there are fears this is another.
Vladimir Putin´s hackers targeted 21 states before the 2016 presidential election, the Department of Homeland Security dramatically revealed Friday. Wisconsin, a key state in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, said on Friday it was one of the 21 states that the federal government notified were targeted by Russian government hackers but no votes were changed. Hillary Clinton lost the state in an upset which she has claimed was not her fault. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed it had notified the 21 states but declined to identify them Friday. States that told The Associated Press they had been targeted include Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland,
Americans support Obamacare over the Senate Republican Graham-Cassidy plan to repeal it by 20 percentage points, according to a new poll. People favor Obamacare over the Senate Republican bill by a vote of 56 to 33 per cent, according to a new ABC News poll. Even 23 per cent of Republicans say they´d prefer Obamacare to the latest plan Republicans came up with. Among independents, 31 per cent would prefer Obamacare. Public approval for Obamacare – which bans denial of coverage for people with preexisting conditions, set up exchanges for sale of private insurance, provided subsidies for medicaid expansion, while requiring people
Austria, Germany and France have threatened to stay away from the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea amid security fears over the nuclear-armed North. Winter Olympics powerhouse Austria also revealed it could stay away from the Pyeongchang Games next February if security concerns deepened. France´s Sports Minister Laura Flessel said yesterday: ´If this gets worse and we do not have our security assured, then our French team will stay here.´ The absence of Austria and other leading winter sports powers would be a hammer blow to the Pyeongchang Games. Austria alone took home 17 medals from the previous Winter Olympics Sochi Games in
A Paris train station near the Eiffel Tower was today evacuated amid a bomb alert. Police were called to the Cambronne Metro stop after receiving reports of a suspicious package. The station is less than a mile from the most famous landmark in Paris and is in the central tourist area. After an hour the package was deemed non-suspicious with passengers allowed to return at approximately 9pm local time. Security remains high around the Eiffel Tower following a series of terror attacks that have hit France carried out by the Islamic State. Just weeks ago tourists were locked inside the famous structure while the Eurostar was evacuated
A tenth elderly patient has died after being kept inside a nursing home that turned into a sweatbox when Hurricane Irma knocked out its air conditioning for three days. Police in Florida confirmed 94-year-old Martha Murray died on Wednesday and said her death was related to the problems at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills following Irma. The first eight patients from the home died on September 13, three days after Irma struck and he ninth died Tuesday, even though just across the street was a fully functioning and cooled hospital. Hollywood police and the state attorney´s office are investigating the incident.
Incredible colourised photos have been unearthed showing international volunteers in the Spanish Civil War. The images show members of the famous International Brigade, which counted literary stars such as George Orwell, Ernest Hemmingway and Laurie Lee as members, as well as the Red Cross and local Spanish Republican militia. They are all the work of Doug Banks, who painstakingly brought the images up to date. They show soldiers enjoying a spot of lunch in front of their aircraft and members of the Red Cross on a rescue mission after the detonation of a bomb. ´The images are mainly of American volunteers enlisted into
Sen. John McCain almost certainly just killed TrumpCare — and gave a boost to managed-care stocks such as UnitedHealth (UNH) and Centene (CNC). The Arizona Republican declared that he couldn´t "in good conscience" vote for the Graham-Cassidy plan to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with block grants to states. John McCain?Verified account @SenJohnMcCain I cannot in good conscience vote for Graham-Cassidy. A bill impacting so many lives deserves a bipartisan approach. The news brought a sudden turnaround in managed-care stocks, though much of that was short-lived. Shares of Centene, whose fortunes are more tied to the ObamaCare exchanges and Medicaid
Former First Lady Michelle Obama has spoken about what life was like for her and her family during her eight years in The White House. Her candid comments came during a moderated discussion at a tech conference in Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday evening. ´It´s like being shot out of a cannon while drinking from a fire hydrant blind,´ she explained as she told of how she got used to her new way of living. ´You have to tell The White House what kind of toilet paper you like. You don´t know where your forks are.´ (Photos) Mrs Obama
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced on Friday that he will vote against the latest GOP effort to repeal ObamaCare, potentially dooming the legislation. “I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal. I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried," he said in a statement, referring to the legislation spearheaded by GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham (S.C) and Bill Cassidy (La.). McCain´s announcement leaves GOP leadership with no room for error.
Former Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) tweeted that she hopes all NFL players kneel during the national anthem on Sunday in response to President Trump´s remarks attacking Colin Kaepernick. Edwards, who left Congress earlier this year, called Trump a "white supremacist who squats in our White House" in her tweet.
The Senate’s top Democrat offered praise for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) after he said he would oppose the latest ObamaCare repeal bill, which narrows the chance that Republicans can get the legislation to President Trump’s desk. “John McCain shows the same courage in Congress that he showed when he was a naval aviator,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said an hour after McCain’s statement. “I have assured Senator McCain that as soon as repeal is off the table, we Democrats are intent on resuming the bipartisan process.” McCain is the second Republican, after Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), to announce
GQ host Keith Olbermann wants NFL fans to remain seated during the national anthem to protest President Trump. “This is simple: To defend OUR right to protest we as fans/consumers ALSO must not stand during the National Anthem until Trump’s threat ends,” the former MSNBC host wrote on Twitter Saturday afternoon. (Tweet) Trump asserted during a rally on Friday night that players who kneel during the national anthem should be fired. ) The president doubled down on Twitter Saturday morning. “If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell snapped back at “divisive” comments about the league Saturday, hours after President Trump urged team owners to fire players who won’t stand for the national anthem. At a political rally Friday night in Alabama, Trump griped that players who kneel for “The Star Spangled Banner” disrespect the flag and should lose their jobs. (Snip) Goodell issued a statement via Twitter at 9:16 a.m. Saturday: “Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs
His pre-dawn raid was meant to intimidate Manafort, not just to collect evidence. Robert Mueller’s sprawling special-counsel investigation is playing hardball. It was not enough to get a search warrant to ransack the Virginia home of Paul Manafort, even as the former Trump campaign chairman was cooperating with congressional investigators. Mueller’s bad-asses persuaded a judge to give them permission to pick the door lock. That way, they could break into the premises in the wee hours, while Manafort and his wife were in bed sleeping. They proceeded to secure the premises — of a man they are reportedly investigating for tax and financial crimes, not gang murders and Mafia hits — by drawing their guns on the stunned couple, apparently to check their pajamas for weapons. Mueller’s probe more resembles an empire, with 17 prosecutors retained on the public dime. So . . .
Hillary Clinton said on MSNBC Saturday that women who support President Trump are “publicly disrespecting themselves.” (VideoTweet) “When I see women doing that, I think, ‘Why are they publicly disrespecting themselves? Why are they opening the door to have someone say that about them in their workplace, in a community setting? Do they not see the connection there?´” Clinton told MSNBC’s Joy Reid on AM Joy. Clinton commented about the Trump-supporting women after Reid asked her about pro-Trump women wearing shirts with profanities directed at Clinton. The former 2016 presidential candidate added that she thought it was “troubling” to hear about
There really ought to be a statute of limitations on how long John McCain can play the tortured war hero card. His war hero status was exhausted with me a decade ago over a single instance. Brad Smith, who as chairman of the Federal Election Commission and law professor dared to criticize the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law on constitutional grounds (later vindicated in several Supreme Court cases culminating in the glorious Citizens United decision), came before a Senate committee one day to testify about campaign finance laws. He had recently had surgery, and had to appear in a wheelchair. Smith wheeled himself
President Donald Trump says NFL owners should fire any players who protest during the national anthem - and called on fans to walk out if they see anyone doing so. Several of the league´s top stars have refused to stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner" to protest the treatment of black people by police in the United States. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was the first to take a public stance on the issue while playing for the San Francisco 49ers, hasn´t been signed by an NFL team for this season. While he didn´t mention Kaepernick specifically by name Trump indicated he believes any players protesting are disrespecting the flag and deserve
Michelle Obama said in a speech Thursday that the White House is currently being led by fear, comparing President Trump´s administration with her husband and former President Obama´s administration. (Snip) “It isn’t just us first,” she said, referring to Trump´s "America first" policies. “We live in a big country and a big world," she said. "You can’t just want to help someone in a hurricane and not make sure they can go to the doctor when they’re sick.” Trump reiterated his "America first" doctrine in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly this week, emphasizing that America would put
