WASHINGTON — The Secret Service can no longer pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out an expanded protective mission – in large part due to the sheer size of President Trump´s family and efforts necessary to secure their multiple residences up and down the East Coast. Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex´´ Alles, in an interview with USA TODAY, said more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances that were meant to last the entire year. The agency has faced a crushing workload since the height of the contentious election season, and it

Well here´s a thought. Maybe the Secret Service wouldn´t be so stretched out if democrat politicians would quit threatening to kill President Trump.

Was the S/S Director drunk or partying when he was "interviewed". In this hostile world and media political activism disclaimers or political party of an interviewee should be included in footnotes of any news IMO.

Guessing the director is a democrat? Or his bed partners(s) is/are?

Government payroll accountant here - you work the hours, you must be compensated for it. It´s the law. Yes, there are caps on OT rates, but if you work it you will still get compensated for it, with extra leave if not cash. SS is not laying anybody off, so obviously the work is still being done. Media, as usual, is either ignorant of federal payroll laws or is lying to us (or both).

What a bunch of whining liars, total BS. How many trips did O´bumbler take with the family?

The O´Zeros spent around $80,000,000 in vacations. That value does not include Secret Service, aircraft, and housing expenses.

All Secret Service Agents need to be interrogated to determine if they will in fact take a bullet for our president. Those that fail that evaluation need to be fired.

There are alot of good men coming back from Afghanistan, I bet they would like a shot at a Secret Service position.

I guessed wrong above and should have read the article first before snarking.

Media now to line by line report the expenditures as if his expenses are the only unnecessary (implied) expenses.

The savings if needed should come from those making waves and getting media protection and who have less clear and present danger caused by media and Marxists marching with raised fists.

One has to watch the sneaky vultures?

If the Secret Service can afford to pay agents to protect Malia Obama at Lollapalooza Chicago, then the Service certainly has not depleted its funds protecting the Trump family.

Ugly fake news story.

Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers expressed deep concern for the continuing stress on the agency, first thrust into turmoil five years ago with disclosures about sexual misconduct by agents in Colombia and subsequent White House security breaches.

A special investigative panel formed after a particularly egregious 2014 White House breach also found that that agents and uniform officers worked "an unsustainable number of hours,´´ which also contributed to troubling attrition rates.

And those who read down through the article will soon find a (the?) complainant. An aide to Elijah Cummings. Surprised? If you are patient, you can usually find something in that woodpile.

The SS budget shortfall can be met by dropping protection for Obama and his associates. As Charlottesville shows all or most of the violent people are Obama supporters and if any trump supporter in inclined to violence they made no attempt to do anything to Obama while he was in office and so they are no threat now. Trump has already had more threats and public calls for his assassination than Obama in two terms. As for "frequent travel" he stays around more than Obama ever did, goes to New York less than Obama did and only left the White House to allow for renovations. Utter nonsense!

Meanwhile, the Clintons are running around separately being guarded by the Secret Service as will as the Carters. The Bushes have taken a pass on government paid security.

The scientists are all talking like it’s a sure thing. On August 21, the “moon” will pass between the Earth and the sun, obscuring the light of the latter. President Trump’s short press conference Tuesday afternoon was remarkable for seeming cogent. In so many of his public statements Trump wanders, free-associates, digresses, and seems either incapable or uninterested in piecing together complete sentences. The fact that he didn’t seem to be improvising made his defense of some of those who participated in a white-supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, more important. It was the clearest and most precise articulation of a view that Trump has espoused since the start of his political career. The president worked to draw a fine distinction between different elements of the march, and in the process

If NFL fans continue to turn away from football, the TV networks could lose as much as $200 million in earnings, according to a new report. After ratings for Week Two crashed, adding to the angst already felt by a poor showing in Week 1, industry insiders and analysts are sounding the alarm. A new report claims that CBS, ESPN, Fox and NBC could take a $200 million hit to their estimated $2.5 billion in NFL advertising earnings if fans continue to turn off the TV, the The Hollywood Reporter noted recently. The worries over earnings are not allayed by

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell snapped back at “divisive” comments about the league Saturday, hours after President Trump urged team owners to fire players who won’t stand for the national anthem. At a political rally Friday night in Alabama, Trump griped that players who kneel for “The Star Spangled Banner” disrespect the flag and should lose their jobs. (Snip) Goodell issued a statement via Twitter at 9:16 a.m. Saturday: “Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs

His pre-dawn raid was meant to intimidate Manafort, not just to collect evidence. Robert Mueller’s sprawling special-counsel investigation is playing hardball. It was not enough to get a search warrant to ransack the Virginia home of Paul Manafort, even as the former Trump campaign chairman was cooperating with congressional investigators. Mueller’s bad-asses persuaded a judge to give them permission to pick the door lock. That way, they could break into the premises in the wee hours, while Manafort and his wife were in bed sleeping. They proceeded to secure the premises — of a man they are reportedly investigating for tax and financial crimes, not gang murders and Mafia hits — by drawing their guns on the stunned couple, apparently to check their pajamas for weapons. Mueller’s probe more resembles an empire, with 17 prosecutors retained on the public dime. So . . .

There really ought to be a statute of limitations on how long John McCain can play the tortured war hero card. His war hero status was exhausted with me a decade ago over a single instance. Brad Smith, who as chairman of the Federal Election Commission and law professor dared to criticize the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law on constitutional grounds (later vindicated in several Supreme Court cases culminating in the glorious Citizens United decision), came before a Senate committee one day to testify about campaign finance laws. He had recently had surgery, and had to appear in a wheelchair. Smith wheeled himself

President Donald Trump says NFL owners should fire any players who protest during the national anthem - and called on fans to walk out if they see anyone doing so. Several of the league´s top stars have refused to stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner" to protest the treatment of black people by police in the United States. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was the first to take a public stance on the issue while playing for the San Francisco 49ers, hasn´t been signed by an NFL team for this season. While he didn´t mention Kaepernick specifically by name Trump indicated he believes any players protesting are disrespecting the flag and deserve

Hillary Clinton said on MSNBC Saturday that women who support President Trump are “publicly disrespecting themselves.” (VideoTweet) “When I see women doing that, I think, ‘Why are they publicly disrespecting themselves? Why are they opening the door to have someone say that about them in their workplace, in a community setting? Do they not see the connection there?´” Clinton told MSNBC’s Joy Reid on AM Joy. Clinton commented about the Trump-supporting women after Reid asked her about pro-Trump women wearing shirts with profanities directed at Clinton. The former 2016 presidential candidate added that she thought it was “troubling” to hear about
