How a white nationalist rally
turned deadly in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia --One person died when a car plowed into a crowd following a dispersed gathering of white nationalists and counterprotesters in Charlottesville. Shortly before the attack Saturday, fistfights and screaming matches erupted between counterprotesters and white nationalists protesting the removal of a confederate monument. The clashes led to the cancellation of scheduled protests, sending demonstrators from both sides marching on nearby streets. A few hours later, a car slammed into a throng of counterprotesters. Here´s what we know: * Counterprotesters met white nationalists and other right-wing groups at the site of Saturday´s "Unite the Right" event hours before the rally was

The counterprotesters were identified elsewhere as being from ANTIFA and BLM. They were the ones who showed up and started the violence.

A map with the article will show you that the crash occurred on a street several blocks from the site of the rally where counterprotesters were marching. The driver did not crash into the rally.

Had the driver been set upon by the violent crowd before his run down the street into another crowd? He couldn´t have seen that crowd had stopped other cars. Would he purposely ruin his car by ramming the crowd and another car?

He left as apparently panicked as he arrived, full speed but backwards. This does not seem premeditated.

The crash occurred a full city block away from the park where the rally was held. Look at the map.

Apparently when the scheduled, city and federal court approved rally had to be dispersed because of the fighting started by the counterprotesters, the latter began to march down nearby streets. The crash occurred hours later.

Anyone’s guess what the crowd of counterprotesters might have done that caused the driver to do what he did.

The driver of the car was pictured with Neo-nazis at the protest before he drove his car into the crowd....on purpose. Quit trying to sugar coat this and accept the fact this moron has handed the leftwing an incident they will milk for years.

News to me, #4. All I know is what little I´ve been unable to avoid. I see no point in wasting time in the early hours of rabid media hyperventilating.

When facts are known, let´s hope they´re obvious and undeniable. From what I´ve seen, my scenario isn´t far fetched sugar coating. I´ll have no problem accepting the truth, whatever it turns out to be.

Nobody’s sugarcoating anything. The driver did what he did. But reports from the scene are starting to come in:

The driver was reportedly taken into police custody. Police officers at the scene told reporters that the driver “wasn’t malicious.”

The driver was taken into police custody right after the incident. Police say the car was covered in dents prior and apparently hit by a bat

— Taylor Lorenz (@TaylorLorenz) August 12, 2017
Anyway several police officers at the station here think the guy running people down wasn´t malicious. They said the driver was scared

— Taylor Lorenz (@TaylorLorenz) August 12, 2017

We have heard reports in the past about what ANTIFA and BLM have done to terrorize persons driving near them when they decide to block a roadway or a street, so his car’s having been damaged by bats or his being afraid, as LE described, is not implausible.

Patience. The rest of the story will come out.

The driver’s family said he went to Charlottesville from Ohio to participate in an alt-right rally. Reports have described the rally as having started with alt-right and attracted the KKK and some neo-Nazi groups that joined in.

We know that ANTIFA and BLM schedule their counterprotests when they know of these rallies. This one was widely publicized.

Excuse additional post, but here is a considerable amount of information on ANTIFA. Many do not understand what it is.

There is currently, on the streets, smashing storefronts and setting things on fire, a group called “Antifa,” for “anti-fascist.” Antifa are not a new phenomenon; they surfaced during the Occupy movement, and during the anti-globalization protests of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Antifa movements began in early-20th-century Europe, when fascism was a concrete and urgent concern, and they remain active on the Continent. Lately, Antifa have emerged as the militant fringe of #TheResistance against Donald Trump — who, they maintain, is a fascist, ushering into power a fascist regime. In Washington, D.C., Antifa spent the morning of Inauguration Day lighting trash cans on fire, throwing rocks and bottles at police officers, setting ablaze a limousine, and tossing chunks of pavement through the windows of several businesses. On February 1, Antifa set fires and stormed buildings at the University of California–Berkeley to prevent an appearance by Breitbart provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos. (They succeeded.) In April, they threatened violence if Ann Coulter spoke on the campus; when the university and local law enforcement refused to find a secure location for her to speak, she withdrew, saying the situation was too dangerous.

I have some confusion about this event. I´ve seen a still picture of a grey sedan with people tumbling over it.

I´ve also seen, on msnbc, a video puported to be of the same event, shot from a drone overhead. That video shows a dark red minivan plowing into a similar crowd.

I´m withholding judgement, at this point. The media are a bunch of freaking lap dogs and don´t really seem to care to search for facts, but are praying for their meme.

Were the police ordered to stand down? Why weren´t the counter-protesters kept away from the rally? I am truly sorry that a counter protester died, but it seems that someone (the mayor? the Dem political leaders? the governor?) was hoping for a violent confrontation to promote their own political agenda. (We have repeatedly watched leftists be more than willing to sacrifice their own to promote their political agenda.) In every prior instance it has been leftists who start the violence. In fact, only recently has the other side even fought back.

Meanwhile, the stories of assassinations of police officers all over the country, were not as breathlessly covered or grieved over (except by conservatives and police officers). And rarely were the assassinations tied to BLM and anti-police campaigns, even when the murderer stated that BLM, etc. were the motivation.

These results are exactly what the Communist Antifa groups wanted, and probably what Richard Spencer and the other white nationalist organizers wanted, too. Lots of publicity.

If the Unite the Right rally had gone off in peace, it barely would have made the local news, let alone international headlines.

This was a stunt, nothing more.

Re #17, I usually share your feeling about CNN, but a look at a number of articles showed this one to seem to be the most detailed and accurate at the time I posted it.

Other sources were picking up from AP that the counterprotest was peaceful, nonviolent. It was so bad that the police shut the entire thing down before the scheduled rally began.

There they go again: the enemedia are conflating "white nationalist" and "white supremacist". Along with other conflations (like immigrant and illegal immigrant) and projection, it is what they do to smear legitimate Trump supporters.

I heard a lot of this on the Sunday talk shows. We must call it out, or the smear will stick.

It turned deadly basically the same way BLM and Antifa ´protests´ turned deadly.

The potential for violence lurks in every human heart, from Manson to the Dali Lama, because it is a part of human nature that is overcome by grace. Under certain conditions that power can move from potency to act.

The tendency for every group of people to say "it´s THEM, not US" is nauseating.

There seems to be lots of bogus, ´broad brush,´ painting going on! ...Who originally had the, ´brilliant,´ idea to remove certain names & take down targeted statues of Confederates, including Gen. Robert E. Lee, and thus attempt to redefine and/or erase the entirety of American history? Where is ANY balanced reporting regarding such attempts to senselessly disrupt the peace?

´´Equality,´´ in the USA, secured by our Declaration of Independence & U.S. Constitution, holds EACH person responsible & accountable for his/her own actions. Thus, PC ´group think,´ and dividing designated groups into ticky-tacky little labeled boxes in order to lampoon & target them all for scorn with the same, ´broad brush,´ is a divisive tool of the enemies of Liberty, even worse, Satanic.

..Considering a medical allegory, when a horrible wound is finally healing, who in their right mind picks the scab on purpose in order to start the painful process all over again when it has already gone through the process of recovering?

Who exactly are the angry rabble-rousers disrupting people´s lives, historically, ´picking scabs,´ and where is the investigative reporting exposing them? awol

Almost everything about the Charlottesville riot was disgraceful except the conduct of the president. The move to take down the statue of General Robert E. Lee was nonsense. Lee has few rivals as the greatest general in American history (Grant, Sherman, MacArthur, and Eisenhower perhaps). Former RNC chair Michael Steele says there is no other conclusion to be drawn: President Donald Trump is a racist. Speaking on the Steele & Ungar show — which airs on Sirius XM’s POTUS channel — the former RNC head blasted Trump’s response to Charlottesville. “This playing to the – it’s not even baser instincts. This is just raw, ugly, racism and hatred,” Steele said. “What, for votes? And so this is the Frankenstein monster that’s been created from a campaign that gave license to that.” Co-host Rick Ungar mentioned that a listener sent him an email asking if Steele thinks Trump
