Melania Offers First White House
Comment on Charlottesville Violence

Daily Beast, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Lalo, 8/12/2017 6:26:28 PM

Melania Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to denounce violent clashes at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, offering the White House´s first public comment on the matter before the president got around to it. “Our country encourages freedom of speech, but let´s communicate w/o hate in our hearts. No good comes from violence,” Melania wrote. President Donald Trump issued his own slightly more vague statement a short time later. “We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!” he wrote.

There was to be a peaceful protest against the removal of the Robert E Lee statue in Charlottesville - it would have been peaceful if the counter protesters hadn´t tried to disrupt it. But, of course, the media doesn´t report it that way.

Ronald Reagan would “not kick the dreamers out of the US” if he were president today, according to his eldest son. “He would find a way to work with Congress and lead,” Michael Reagan tweeted Tuesday following the Trump administration’s announcement that it plans to do away with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, over the next six months. The 40th president’s only adopted child appears to support the idea of putting Congress on the hot seat and letting them make the decision about what to do with the 800,000 illegal immigrants

CNN executives explicitly told their investigative team to stop looking into potential ties between the Trump administration and Russia following a series of high profile reporting errors led that to the resignation of three journalists in June. Executives transferred all reporting duties associated with the Trump-Russia narrative to CNN’s Washington, D.C. team in the wake of a retracted June report, members of the CNN staff told The New York Times. The report in question was removed from CNN’s website after the network admitted it could not stand by information that tied then Trump advisor Anthony Scaramucci to a Russian investment bank

In an early frontrunner for worst-take of the week, conservative tabloid Daily Caller published a piece aimed at the Utah nurse whose handcuffing and arrest went viral after she refused to provide a patient’s blood to a police officer. In the piece titled “Arrested Utah Nurse Had It Coming,” Daily Caller editor Gregg Re makes the claim that Salt Lake City-based nurse Alex Wubbels may have deserved the treatment she received. “Police simply do not need a warrant if exigent circumstances justify an urgent search and seizure of evidence. Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana returned to Washington Tuesday saying that they still had hope that an amendment they are working on could act as a vehicle to repeal and replace portions of Obamacare. The amendment, which has not been fully written and has not been scored by the Congressional Budget Office, would transfer Obamacare´s revenue from taxes to states so they can come up with their own plans. Graham has said previously that he believes as much as $500 billion could be sent to states. "I´ve never felt better about it," Graham said about

Contentious conservative pundit and Delta Airlines scourge Ann Coulter endorsed affirmative action for African-Americans via a number of tweets on Tuesday, asserting that they are the only ethnic group who deserve to gain from the policy. [snip] Coulter chose to reaffirm her position on the issue while voicing disdain toward an undocumented immigrant who received a full-ride scholarship to Harvard. These pro-affirmative action tweets did come to the chagrin of her conservative audience, as many of the replies to her tweets include Trump-supporters pushing back against the sentiment. Newly disclosed evidence that then-FBI Director James Comey began working on a statement to reject criminal charges against former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton months before she and other key witnesses were interviewed by the FBI shows that President Trump was right to fire Comey. The evidence proves that Trump and his supporters were correct to say throughout the presidential campaign that Washington operates on a “rigged” crony system that serves the interests of the powerful and rewards corporate globalists to the detriment of the American people. As evidence of the rigged system, voters sided with Trump during the campaign in often

The belief that humans came out of Africa millions of years ago is widely believed. But it might be about to be entirely re-written, according to the authors of a new study. They claim to have found a footprint in Crete that could change the narrative of early human evolution, suggesting that our ancestors were in modern Europe far earlier than we ever thought. The accepted story of the human lineage has been largely set since researchers found fossils of our early ancestors in South and East Africa, in the middle of the 20th century. Later discoveries appeared to suggest that those

Better a million dead North Koreans than a thousand dead Americans. The fundamental reason our government exists is to protect our people and our territory. Everything else is a grace note. And the words we never should hear in regard to North Korea’s nuclear threats are “We should’ve done something.” Instead, we should do something. Pyongyang’s Sunday test of a hydrogen bomb of devastating power begs for decisive action. Must we wait until Americans die? A preemptive strike against Kim Jong-un’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs would be a terrible thing, demanding a vast military effort (if done properly)

Almost immediately after Clinton tweeted in support of the site on Sunday evening, it was hit with a denial-of-service attack, forcing the site offline for several hours.
