The Coming Meltdown Will Rock Your
Life in Unimaginable Ways, Jim Rogers Warns

Another bullish call for gold comes with yet another call for a financial meltdown, this time from famed investor Jim Rogers. The best-selling author expects the next financial crisis to be the "worst" he has ever seen. "We´ve had economic problems in the U.S. or in North America every four to eight years since the beginning of the Republic so to say that we´re going to have a problem is not unusual," he told Kitco News from the Freedom Fest conference in Las Vegas. "I would expect it to start this year or the next...and it´s going to be the

Know how to bring on an economic meltdown? Pretend you have a crystal ball and can see into the future and start using mass media to tell people one is coming.

Yawn. Same old noise.

Back when I was younger, poorer and less experienced, I fell for Howard Ruff´s book and spent significant effort "protecting myself" with gold and other strategies. Nearly 40 years later, older, more financially sound, and much wiser, I ignore this BS.

A look at the historic returns on gold as an investment show that it absolutely sucks. In 1995 gold was about 700 an ounce. Today it is about $1200 an ounce. That is less than double over 22 years.
Money invested in S&P 500, a totally simple, suboptimal, but no-effort investment strategy, in 1995 (S&P index = 465) and held until now (S&P index 2441) increased by a factor of more than 5 times. Better investment stragegies can better that result. I started investing seriously in the early 80s when the Dow Jones Industrial Average was around 2000. Today it is over 22,000, a factor of eleven. That is a serious return on investment. With zero strategy, $50K invested then is $550K today. With good investing strategy, I have beaten this by a lot.

Gold is a very poor investment, it is only an emergency store of value. Unless you are looking at a massive economic collapse, it is not good. Economic collapse isn´t actually too likely because as bad as the USA´s problems are, everywhere else is far, far worse.

I used to be very interested and bought some in the 80s. It was a terrible investment.

For making bullets only, you understand, I would like to have an ingot of silver of maybe ten pounds. Just for bullets and for the shock value to sit on the floor for people to ask, "What is that?" when they come in and sit down.... Otherwise, I´m with #8 100%. There is no way a normally aspirated human should ever consider a lump of metal to be a good long term investment. Only for bullets.....

While promoting her newly released memoir, Hillary Clinton has placed blame on several factors for her loss to Donald Trump last November — from her own mistakes, to Russian interference in the U.S. election, and the late intervention by then-FBI director James Comey. But Clinton has also spoken candidly about how deep-rooted sexism played a hand in her defeat, and about the double standards she faced as the first woman nominated by a major party for president in America’s 240-year history. In an interview with the New York Times published Saturday, Clinton spoke further about how misogyny is used as

Clinton, in the interview with CNN´s Anderson Cooper, displayed her animus for fired FBI Director James Comey, reflected on her love for the people -- namely former President Bill Clinton -- who helped her get through the crushing loss and blasted the arcane election body that she believes helped Donald Trump win the presidency. Almost no commentator, no reviewer, has mentioned the most newsworthy fact about Hillary Clinton´s latest memoir—which is the near total lack of anything actually newsworthy in the book. With What Happened, Clinton would at last "let down her hair," Simon & Schuster´s publicists loudly proclaimed before the book´s publication. And that was the line dutifully repeated by reporter after reporter, as though it were a fact. The silent coup has apparently succeeded. President Trump has been convinced to abandon his revolutionary program of putting “America First,” and has decided to play footsy with globalists like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. There have been signs since before Trump took office that he was not dedicated to accomplishing the goals he promised—whether that was building the wall, repealing Obamacare, cutting off funding for Planned Parenthood, lowering taxes, leaving NAFTA, or many more.[SNIP]The final nail in Trump’s and America’s coffin may be his decision to become the stepfather to President Obama’s illegal executive order establishing Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals.
