Six months later...CNN´s Fareed Zakaria has it figured out. Or at least he thinks he does. Donald Trump became President Trump, the host mused, because Americans wanted to stick it to the elites. "The election of Donald Trump is really a kind of class rebellion against people like us, educated professionals who live in cities, who have cosmopolitan views about things," Zakaria said. "There´s a part of America that is sick and tired of being told what to do by this overeducated population that Hillary Clinton perfectly represented. That´s why they´re sticking with him," he continued. (Free Beacon) Zakaria went on to argue that
Comments: No sympathy here for Fareed. Fools ought to be vexed.
The night of the election, the head anchor Mary Nam at ABC news in Seattle, KOMO, tweeted...´this election was between the urban and rural and the educated and the uneducated.´ I´ll tell you this. I am smart enough to know that hillary was the most corrupt politician to ever run for the Presidency and also smart enough to know that men can´t have babies. (This is in reference to a story they were running two days ago about a ´unique´ birth in Portland...a ´man´ had a baby.)
The elites have been slapping us in the face for decades. And now the ultimate slap is John McCain´s vote to deprive us of healthcare.
Obamacare will do nothing except deprive the average American of healthcare while making us pay more for services we aren´t going to get anymore. While elites and government employees are going to get the best healthcare in the world.
I am gratified to see people making a distinction between education and intelligence. The scales fell from my eyes when as a kid my old boss called our Fortune 20 clients "well educated idiots." Put affirmative action into the mix (Obama and his wife for example) and it gets even worse. Fareed is the poster child for this phenomenon.
The Democratic Party is no longer powered by the big blue collar, trade and industrial unions composed of skilled but not formally degreed, (mainly) white Americans. The party sold its soul to minorities for the price of perpetual largesse from the Robin Hood state. Educated elites, many of whom who love to don the mantle of generosity at someone else´s expense, were glad to be a part, because they would reap the power of elected and appointed government offices and careers. Today´s class revolution is heavily composed of former middle class Democrats who have have had enough of seeing their children´s schools, their own workplace and the military being run by social do-gooders who live in gated communities, have never served in the military and who send their own precious offspring to snooty private academies where they can learn networking skills with "the best and the brightest."
Have a family member, living in DC for many years ...Congressional staff, lobbyist, etc...about as rabid liberal as they come. Yet. They moved out of inner DC because the schools weren´t good enough for their children and immediately put them into private ones in Matuland. And...they don´t see any hypocritical aspect of that. Like Ryan against border walls yet puts one around his own prosperity. Do as I say...not as I do.
They are certainly not overeducated. But, they are undereducated and wrongly educated/programmed. To most, history began this past Monday morning and what errors they realized last week will be repeated, as they don another costume personality.
Like Juan WIlliams, they are doomed not to learn, even when they are treated unfairly, because of their own guilty consciences from poor/deceitful practices.
"us elites" Ha, what a collection of over educated fools.
I have a couple of engineering degrees, had a high salary, solid net worth, so I guess I could be an "elite", but these morons have wrecked it, wouldn´t join their ´club´ if they asked, and since I voted Trump, and despise everything about the NYC/DC axis self-proclaimed "elites", they aren´t going to ask.
The word "elite" traditionally referred to people who made their living with the pen. Now, i"the term seems to belong to those who claim it for themselves and are also spoiled blowhards who have had everything handed to them and wouldn´t get their hands dirty even if it meant saving a puppy caught in quicksand. They might play a mean game of tennis or croquet but couldn´t fix a clogged drain. They are doltish, buffoonish mediocrities who look down their noses at the "uneducated", many of whom have master´s and doctorates in things that are actually useful. And we, in return, find them nauseating. Fareed, go learn how to clean the garage.
As a 3rd generation Californian and Berkeley grad who has been a long-time IT "professional" [often caught living in cities and occasionally even traveling to ´the continent´], I embraced Donald Trump as a verifiable traditionalist and was thrilled to see him elected!!
As some have pointed out previously education does equal intelligence. Proof of this is in the fact that every failed disastrous policy implemented by our government was the brainchild of a group of elite educated professionals.
Mr. Zakaria´s "overly educated", progressive, snobby professionals, who live in big cities, mostly don´t know how to drive a car, mow a lawn, grow a garden, or prepare a meal - they show no interest in taking care of themselves nor in coping with life´s difficulties - they are not survivors in any sense of the word. Mr. Zakaria was correct - these are the people who were perfectly represented by Hillary Clinton.
Despite Mr. Zakaria´s skewed opinion of supporters of President Trump, most will NOT be leaving this thread to study their ABCs, tend to their white babies, smack their black ones, participate in any "class rebellion", or slap any self-elevated elite in the face.
As a proud, educated (but not "overly"), prepared American, I voted for Donald J. Trump as President for the following reasons only: respect for his determination to restore America to its founding fathers´ vision, his unabashed patriotism, his love for all who serve, his fortitude, toughness, and grit - and, unlike the "secular" Mr. Zakaria, I thank God for President Trump every day.
And he´s so modest about his superiority over the rebellious, lower class, uneducated knuckle dragging racists in flyover country who were clearly too stupid and bigoted to vote for the right presidential candidate.
In last night’s speech on Afghanistan, President Trump said: "No one denies that we have inherited a challenging and troubling situation in Afghanistan and South Asia, but we do not have the luxury of going back in time and making different or better decisions. When I became President, I was given a bad and very complex hand, but I fully knew what I was getting into: big and intricate problems." Every president inherits plenty of trouble, but Trump isn’t just whining here. On issue after issue, Barack Obama passed the buck, making the situation worse than he found it and leaving his
CLEARWATER — Pinellas County Circuit Judge Jack St. Arnold on Monday threw out the $458,100 sale of a gulf-front condo because of what he called an "unscrupulous" and "conniving" scheme to trick bidders at a foreclosure auction. His ruling means that the owners of Orlando Realty Group will get back the money they bid on what turned out to be a second mortgage held by a company connected to Clearwater attorney Roy Skelton. Only later did the bidders discover that a different lender had a superior first mortgage and could soon foreclose, leaving them with no condo and out nearly a
WASHINGTON – The firing of a federal employee takes about 18 months on average, given the appeals process, which allows multiple avenues for an employee to register complaints. This was one of the central issues discussed Tuesday at the Heritage Foundation, where members of the conservative think tank outlined the organization’s Blueprint for Reorganization. That plan envisions balancing the budget within seven years by cutting $10 trillion in federal spending through hundreds of recommendations to Congress. Suggestions include the elimination of entire offices like the Federal Housing Administration and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It also envisions consolidating Veterans Affairs, which has
News that another major surface combatant has collided with a merchant ship recalls David Beatty´s famous remark as he watched one after another of his battlecruisers blow up at Jutland. "There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today." Today it´s not just the ships that seem wrong but a whole lot more. The USS McCain´s mishap though perhaps entirely accidental, naturally raised speculation on social media that infrastructure decay, lowered standards of education, loss of trust in institutions and incompetence were all part of a general decline. But the confluence of events can be deceiving. Perhaps they´re just
WASHINGTON – Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) said many federal employees are leaving the Environmental Protection Agency and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration over “fear” that the Trump administration is going to “suppress their viewpoints” or move them to irrelevant positions. Beyer, ranking member of the House Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee on Oversight, was asked if he would have full access to the “unfiltered” final version of the latest federal government report on climate change. The New York Times published a leaked draft of the report, which was submitted to the Trump administration for review. “The majority members of my committee may
If you get your political updates through ordinary channels – MSM; local news; the major newspapers; and popular website newsies such as Yahoo, Facebook, and more recently Drudge – you most likely feel that America is imploding, all due to the chaos of the Trump administration. The goal is to wear you down, if not wear you out, until you agree that Trump must go. The stakes rise with each new Trump achievement, commensurate with the rising decibel level of those who express outrage at whatever he says. That´s what happens when your cherished assumptions are disproven day after day. It´s comical
New York Times reporters Thomas Fuller, Alan Feuer and Serge Kovaleski are responsible for this admiring profile of the far-left Brownshirts called antifa: “‘Antifa’ members are ready to literally fight right-wingers.” "Members of antifa have shown no qualms about using their fists, sticks or canisters of pepper spray to meet an array of right-wing antagonists whom they call a fascist threat to U.S. democracy." Is antifa violent? Well, that depends on what the meaning of “violent” is: “You need violence in order to protect nonviolence,” she said. “That’s what’s very obviously necessary right now.” (Snip) The mere existence of supporters of President Trump
Among the imponderables staring us in the face in year 1 of the Trump administration is John Koskinen. Why does this man remain Commissioner of the IRS? Speaking of Obama holdovers, Koskinen is a beaut. I should have thought he was a prime candidate for sacking on day 1, though I don’t recall President Trump ever mentioning the scandals that have disgraced the IRS on the campaign trail. Koskinen has capably served as a bureaucratic foot dragger, dissembler and apologist for the scandals involving the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups. The IRS has persistently downplayed and misrepresented the facts underlying
Within minutes of the announcement of the vehicular terror attack in Barcelona, Jim Sciutto and Wolf Blitzer of CNN were opining that the horrifying events in Spain may have been inspired by (i.e. were a copycat of) Charlottesville. The implications of this comparison are not only wrong-headed, they are reactionary and dangerous to the American public and the world. And this is for even more important reasons than the fact that Barcelona was a catastrophic attack with, as of this writing, 13 dead and over 100 wounded, many seriously. (Coordinated attacks were apparently attempted in other parts of Catalonia.) What happened in
A 9-foot gator killed a woman’s dog in Florida Wednesday afternoon. The alligator came out of a creek in St. Petersburg and attacked the woman’s dog. It dragged the 75-pound chow mix into the water, deputies said. Deputies couldn’t rescue the dog. A trapper was called and removed the gator from the creek. Alligators attacking pets happens more frequently than some may believe. A few months ago, an “aggressive” gator attacked a dog in Boca Raton. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is warning parents of small children and pet owners to be careful around water. Deputies told WFTS, “The alligator was alive and
Almost ten years ago, not long after Al Gore’s first entry into the slasher/horror film genre (An Inconvenient Truth), I had occasion to ask a straight-shooting “mainstream” climate scientist I know slightly what he thought of Gore’s film. I was fishing to see whether he’d comment on some of the more obvious howlers that Gore included in the film, but instead after a long pause he said, “I wish he’d made the film with John McCain.” In other words, Gore should have tried to make it a bipartisan effort. McCain is the perfect person and is so vain that he
Today ISIS claimed responsibility for a van attack on a pedestrian mall in Barcelona that left 13 dead and a hundred injured. Suddenly the War on Statues was thrown off the front pages by the War on Terror. Events can overwhelm the Narrative through a process called burn-through. When the signal from events exceeds the power of a jammer it is said to "burn through". Narratives are powerful but not omnipotent. The Lone Wolf Narrative can be sold to the public only while attacks fall below a certain frequency. Once the attacks happen too frequently the script fails and the public
Two members of the Kennedy family were arrested for disorderly conduct near the family’s famed compound on Cape Cod, according to police. Max Kennedy, the 52-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and a noise violation around 1 a.m. Sunday morning after reports of loud partying, Barnstable Police told the Boston Herald. His daughter Caroline, a 22-year-old California resident, was also arrested at a home a short walk from the main Kennedy compound. (Snip) The arrests come after a brush with the law for another of RFK’s grandchildren, Conor Kennedy, who
“There must always” be a flow low-skilled immigration to the United States, no matter its impact on American workers, according to Republican establishment figure Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ). Flake slammed the idea of potentially cutting legal immigration levels in half to raise the wages of American workers and end the current low-skilled oriented system to make only admit immigrants based on their skills and merit in a New York Times op-ed. Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and David Perdue (R-GA) introduced the specific plan, known as the “RAISE Act.” President Donald Trump endorsed the plan and said the legislation “will reduce poverty, increase
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are among a set of White House aides pushing President Trump to allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to stay, in an effort to get Democrats to fund the president´s border wall. McClatchy reported that the group of White House officials have suggested using so-called ´Dreamers´ as a bargaining chip, in order to check off some of the president´s campaign promises on immigration, including the wall, additional detention facilities, an E-verify system for employers and cuts to legal immigration. However, such a move would break another campaign promise, as candidate Donald Trump had pledged
The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Sunday gave a strong endorsement to the movement for removing monuments to leaders of the Confederacy and called for the electoral college to be abolished. Speaking at the Islamic Center of Southern California, Jackson blamed the electoral college system, giving disproportionate influence to less populated states, for the 2000 and 2016 loss of Democratic presidential candidates Al Gore and Hillary Clinton despite their winning the popular vote. “Today we are looking at a structural problem,” Jackson said. “These monuments must go. Calling for the audience to repeat, he said, “Say the monuments and the flags
WASHINGTON — The Secret Service can no longer pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out an expanded protective mission – in large part due to the sheer size of President Trump´s family and efforts necessary to secure their multiple residences up and down the East Coast. Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex´´ Alles, in an interview with USA TODAY, said more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances that were meant to last the entire year. The agency has faced a crushing workload since the height of the contentious election season, and it
Thanks to Monday´s solar eclipse, disastrous traffic jams have been taking over the country these last few days. And as folks leave the first coast-to-coast solar eclipse since 1918, the U.S. Department of Transportation estimated that nearly two-thirds of the nation´s resident live withing a day´s drive of the path of totality. And with Oregon being the first to see the eclipse, it and neighboring state Washington are experiencing the worst bouts of the traffic jams. ´This is the biggest transportation event that has ever hit Oregon,´ Dave Thompson, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation told AP. Oregon
Black Lives Matter activist Chanelle Helm released a list of “requests” to white people in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, this month. Helm, the so-called “cofounder and core organizer of Black Lives Matter Louisville,” explained in an article published at Leoweekly.com the things she says need to “change.” “White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty,” Helm writes in an article titled “White people, here are 10 requests from a Black Lives Matter leader.” White people are asked, “Give up the
As the face of CNN, Anderson Cooper makes a very good living as wealthy, privileged white man casting judgments of affiliation upon his political enemies. This includes taking a handful of idiotic white supremacists and declaring they represent millions of Republicans/conservatives, pro-America, Trump supporters, etc. And yet Mr. Cooper himself has a much closer affiliation to slavery than he likely wants his leftist viewers to know. As a descendant of the Vanderbilt family, one of the wealthiest “old money” families in American history, Cooper is a direct descendant of big time slave owners. Cooper’s great-great grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt, owned several plantations,
A Texas college campus removed four statues of prominent Confederate figures in an overnight sweep, according to reports. The statues of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston, Confederate Postmaster General John H. Reagan and former Texas Gov. James Stephen Hogg were each taken down from the campus’ Main Mall in an operation beginning just before midnight and continuing through the early morning, KSAT 12 reported. “Last week, the horrific displays of hatred at the University of Virginia and in Charlottesville shocked and saddened the nation,” University of Texas President Greg Fenves said in a statement. “These events make
The eclipse that occurred over Chicago led thousands to the beaches and streets, where they gasped and cried out as the sun partially disappeared. For WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling, it was an especially awe-inspiring event. The famed meteorologist hugged and high-fived people around him and wept as the eclipse occurred Monday afternoon. "Oh, my word," Skilling said. "Wow. This is amazing. What do you think of this, this?" At another point, he told viewers, "I´ll get my act together, guys." His voice cracking, Skilling apologized for his tears. Skilling´s heartfelt reaction earned him praise from fans:
President Trump’s “America First” base was the biggest loser of Trump’s speech on Afghanistan Monday night, and many quickly expressed their disappointment at the business-as-usual address from the president who had once promised to limit American intervention abroad and focus on nation-building at home. Trump’s speech, in which he pledged to increase the number of troops in the 16-year-war, was the first since the departure of Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and confirmed the fears of many on the right that without a strong nationalist voice in the West Wing, the President would revert to the same old fare that Americans had
Students at Howard University, a top-rated historically black college in Washington D.C., took to social media to express their anger over a group of white high school girls wearing pro-Trump clothing who visited the campus on Saturday. Some tweets referring to their visit also suggested the white high school girls should be beaten up. One of the high school guests, in a social media post of her own, said they were simply visiting the school’s cafeteria to get food as part of a larger tour of the nation’s capital, and faced a barrage of insults and aggressive acts, including having
