I’m a conservative – and I now see
voting Republican is a waste of time

The Guardian (UK), by John Daniel Davidson

What would you conclude if you voted for a candidate or a party because of a promise to repeal or change a law that you strongly felt was harmful and unjust, but once in office the party refused to do it? You might conclude, rightly, that those politicians didn’t really work for you, and the party didn’t care what you thought. That’s precisely the message Republicans have been sending their constituents throughout the Obamacare repeal fiasco. The failure of Senate Republicans to pass a so-called “skinny repeal” in the early hours of Friday is merely the latest instance of GOP

I´m the Chair of our Town´s Republican Committee. Where do we go from here? The liars in the Congress and in the Party´s national leadership are absolutely shameful. or should I say shameless.

Wait. wait. 49 Republicans voted to repeal. The repeal failed because John McCain is more interested in getting back at Trump than he is in serving the country. (No one expected the 2 women to vote for repeal).

I think Trump should cancel the waiver that lets Congress and staff opt out of the ACA. If they think it is such a good idea let them eat the dog meat.

Some of us in AZ are sorry that we could not defeat McCain but he always manages, somehow, to arrange for splitting the anti-McCain vote in the primary even if he has to spend his own campaign money.

Don´t blame the party because McCain is all about McCain. We can pick up many Senate seats in 2018 because the Dems have 20? seats in play. With a solid majority and a failure to repeal, you can blame the party.

A law has to be passed to recall an elected official. Maybe only those in the same party who voted can do the recall. We have to be able to hold them accountable other than election time. The liars have to be held accountable.

Unless you´re in California, think of it as voting "against" something or someone. It helps. In California, where I am, the only thing I get from voting is a free cigar when I show up with my "I Voted!" sticker.

The demonrat socialists and the spineless squishy demonrat lites in the RINO party have sold us out.

They have deserted those who voted for them in our time of need. The people are hoping Mr. Trump will get those in DC behind him and follow his lead, but this has not been the case.

The personal integrity of these RINOs has been compromised to the point that they cannot be trusted to keep their word.

This situation SCREAMS OUT for term limits to rid us of the sellouts from BOTH parties.

Time for serious talk of a new party for those of us who are no longer represented by the RINOs.

We gave Republicans the majority in Congress in 2012 and they did nothing.
We gave Republicans the majority in the Senate in 2014 and they did nothing.
That´s why there is a businessman in the White House today.
You´d think they would learn wouldn´t you?
They´re still digging in their heels at the thought of working with President Trump. The American People don´t want corrupt democRATs and they don´t want do-nothing Republicans, especially when America really needs action to get it out of the clutches of being broken for the past eight years! Old habits are hard to break, but with persistence, they shall be broken!

Nope, it´s still not a waste of time. In fact, we need more Republicans. We have no leeway to punish the likes of McVain and his ilk. We need to work harder to turn purple states bright red and put people in who will pay attention.

It´s not going to be easy. Nobody said it would be. We´re dealing with people who either started off dishonest, got swayed by the beltway lifestyle, or who have something to hide/protect. But without leeway (more GOP, not less), we have no other choice but to continue voting Republican.

The Democrats are just that dangerous.

The attempts to drain the Deep State Swamp have triggered its survival instinct, and the enemedia are intimately entwined in that, cranking out copious propaganda to thwart PDJT. They seem too well-steeped in Alinskian tactics to be plausibly dislodged.

For some reason a quote from Jaws comes to mind: We´re going to need a bigger boat.

We need to better identify the RINO-turds who vote conveniently. That is; They only show their true faces when their votes won´t be fresh in the electorate´s minds. We need to attack and replace them whenever we can.

They talk a good fight only to sabotage the American People´s will.

Let´s make life as horrible for them as they make it for us. Put the fear of God and Revolution in their hearts.

The offenders must be primaried. One problem in AZ is the open primary, where Dems can vote for McCain to keep the traitorous slime in office, vs. a true conservative.

I suspect 6 or so R´s , like Heller, Portman, may be primaried as a result of yesterday´s betrayal. People are ticked in AZ but with his pending health and age, McCain could care less. His final curtain.

It wouldn´t take much to swing this our way. If DjT led an official Populist revolt, I´d join. R´s better get the damn message.

I guess some people haven´t been voting that long. To have a President like Donald Trump is incredible. Lots of flaws, but for an outsider, and he is one no matter what that spin is, to hold the reins of power at this stage of the game is a gift. Maybe your candidate is terrible, support an alternative.

We might lose it all because of fraud and the deep state, but there is a chance, seize it. Giving up is exactly what truly sinister forces want. It´s what donkeys do in NY all the time. Don´t bother to vote, NYC controls it all. Well cuomo would be banging his ugly head against the wall if a couple of hundred thousand people who talk a lot had bothered to register and Vote, but they couldn´t be bothered.

President Trump´s style definitely has advantages. It also has disadvantages. What if he had tempered his criticism of John McCain? Honestly, sometimes a little bit of diplomacy and decent humor can go a long way. Think Ronald Reagan.

I greatly appreciate much of what is getting done by the White House, but a quick reality check might tell us that Donald Trump will get back some of what he dishes out. Why is that such a surprise?

I´ve said it before - Trump is going to wear down supporters - especially those who came on board when it was clear that it would be him or Hillary. Let´s hope this latest round of changes brings some long-term stability to the White House.

From CTH:

Additionally, it should be noted for an accurate record that Nevada Republican Senator Dean Heller delayed his own roll call vote, skipped his name when called, until he was able to see that McCain cast the vote against America.

When Heller was safe – as in: able to hide his malicious intent and vote “aye” at the conclusion of the roll- he gave the appearance of support. A very typical albeit Machiavellian maneuver, customarily subtle and historically utilized by Senator Ted Cruz with few paying attention.

Then they say it has to be done in "phases".

The republicans in the senate vote yes, knowing that a volunteer will vote to kill it.

Yes, it´s disgusting, but get a grip. Where would we be if we hadn´t gotten at least this far, including the strategic importance of being able to confirm the appointment of Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Even some of these weasels helped get that critical appointment to happen.

So let´s get real. We´re better off now than we were, but we´re not done yet. And thankfully, the most egregious RINOs have totally exposed themselves and self-identified themselves as needing to be replaced. At a minimum, we need to find and support decent alternatives to the following: McCain, Collins, and Murkowski. They are totally irredeemable and must be replaced. All of us have to support their opponents in the primaries. Do it.

I´m with #´s 9, 32 and those who think as they do. We´ve just got to keep at it and try to elect better people where we can. There is no realistic alternative. We can complain about RINOs all day and night, but the fact is they were all duly elected. Didn´t Murkowski defeat a tea party candidate with a write-in campaign? People make choices and get what they vote for.

And keep in mind that we need every "R" we can get for judicial confirmations.

#11 – For me, a sister Californian, I view voting as for entertainment purposes only.

The tracks of the Trump Train won’t reach California until President Pence’s first term, but that didn’t stop me from campaigning for our President openly on the street, twice a week for 10 weeks, in the middle of Mendocino County. I am a recovering Republican, although I keep the registration in order to vote in the presidential primaries.

The CA GOPe are beyond useless and openly Uniparty. Wait until the pain gets really bad. Opposition to the status quo will happen when California’s slide into socialism comes into stark contrast with the rest of the country riding the Trump Train to MAGA. Until then, call me Deplorable.

MAGA – Drinks are being served in Club Car.

I never believed change would be either quick, or easy. Trump´s election proves there are enough of us out there to take on the Establishment, and return this country to it´s Constitutional roots.

But it´s going to take vetting your candidates, and making your presence known.

We´ve got to commit to the long haul.

I´m a bit amused by some of the comments I´m reading on this thread. Those of us who are old enough have heard similar many times through the Goldwater and Reagan efforts to "clean up" the party.

We have given the GOPe everything they asked for. They do nothing other than asking for more. Now they want a 60 seat Senate majority. Why not go for 67 and be veto-proof? (/s)

Lies. All lies instigated by Establishment operatives, and parroted by ill-informed dupes.

Problem is, throughout all of the pendulum swings of party control from Establishment to outsider promptly back to Establishment, one thing has been constant: the donors and K-Street lobbyists.

Another constant is the "good cop / bad cop" game they have been playing for more than half a century. Actually: those advocating for "(R)emain" rather than "(R)exit" use the same arguments that Loyalists used to oppose the American Revolution itself. Similar arguments, even, to that of Dathan in the desert (Numbers 16) for the Jews to return to Egypt, rather than starve in the desert. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

What Einstein said about insanity. Do you really think that giving Republican Loyalists "one more chance" will produce a different result?

Face it: the GOP wing of the UniParty - like its Democrat counterpart - is structurally corrupt beyond repair. Both wings must be "repealed and replaced" by a new party not beholden to the elitist donors.

“For everything there is a season” (Ecclesiastes 3) – time to abandon the Tired Old Party and try something different. Sometimes “quitters” are correct when adhering to a higher objective.

Otherwise, our choice will be either civil war or watch our Republic fade back into tyranny of the elites.

Leading anti-Trump activists backed by major Democratic donors including George Soros are mobilizing large numbers of protesters ahead of President Trump’s rally in Phoenix on Tuesday, with the intention of stealing the spotlight from the president’s event. Local leaders of Indivisible, one of many “resistance” protest groups formed as a direct response to Trump’s election, are organizing thousands of protesters associated with a coalition of left-wing groups ahead of Tuesday’s event. In addition to organizing mass protests outside the rally, Indivisible is encouraging protesters to register for tickets for the rally itself, increasing the likelihood that protesters will disrupt Trump’s

Black Lives Matter activist Chanelle Helm released a list of “requests” to white people in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, this month. Helm, the so-called “cofounder and core organizer of Black Lives Matter Louisville,” explained in an article published at Leoweekly.com the things she says need to “change.” “White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty,” Helm writes in an article titled “White people, here are 10 requests from a Black Lives Matter leader.” White people are asked, “Give up the

In a recent column for The Guardian, former Democratic senator for Wisconsin Russ Feingold clarified what all this controversy about white supremacists and Confederate statues is really all about: Republicans are Nazis. “The lesson from Charlottesville is not how dangerous the neo-Nazis are,” he writes. “It is the unmasking of the Republican party leadership. In the wake of last weekend’s horror and tragedy, let us finally, finally rip off the veneer that Trump’s affinity for white supremacy is distinct from the Republican agenda of voter suppression, renewed mass incarceration and the expulsion of immigrants.” Finally, finally, someone on the Left

President Trump received a commemorative Super Bowl ring from longtime friend and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft after the team visited the White House in April. A spokesman for the Patriots, Stacey James, told USA Today that Trump told Kraft during their White House visit how he was honored the Patriots were the first team to visit during his presidency. The team gifted Trump a jersey and a helmet during the April trip, but Kraft wanted to do more. James said Trump´s customized ring is the same as what the Patriots players and staff received for winning the Super Bowl.

Two members of the Kennedy family were arrested for disorderly conduct near the family’s famed compound on Cape Cod, according to police. Max Kennedy, the 52-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and a noise violation around 1 a.m. Sunday morning after reports of loud partying, Barnstable Police told the Boston Herald. His daughter Caroline, a 22-year-old California resident, was also arrested at a home a short walk from the main Kennedy compound. In her most detailed public comments about what happened during the second presidential debate, Hillary Clinton said her “skin crawled” as Donald Trump loomed behind her on the stage in St. Louis in October. The comments are included in her new book, “What Happened,” which she called an attempt to “pull back the curtain” on her losing bid for the presidency. Some of the moments during the campaign, she said, “baffled” her. The book comes out Sept. 12, but audio excerpts, read by Clinton herself, were played on MSNBC on Wednesday morning. In the recording, Clinton noted that she wrote

I’ve been on the Barron Trump train from the start, but it’s about time the president’s son starts dressing the part. Barron is the youngest son of Donald Trump and the only child the president shares with Melania Trump. Time and time again Barron has proved that he’s just a normal 11-year-old kid, despite the fact that his dad is the President of the United States and he lives in the White House. One thing that isn’t normal though is the way he dresses when he joins his parents for a public appearance. Barron was returning to the White House from New

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are among a set of White House aides pushing President Trump to allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to stay, in an effort to get Democrats to fund the president´s border wall. McClatchy reported that the group of White House officials have suggested using so-called ´Dreamers´ as a bargaining chip, in order to check off some of the president´s campaign promises on immigration, including the wall, additional detention facilities, an E-verify system for employers and cuts to legal immigration. However, such a move would break another campaign promise, as candidate Donald Trump had pledged

As the face of CNN, Anderson Cooper makes a very good living as wealthy, privileged white man casting judgments of affiliation upon his political enemies. This includes taking a handful of idiotic white supremacists and declaring they represent millions of Republicans/conservatives, pro-America, Trump supporters, etc. And yet Mr. Cooper himself has a much closer affiliation to slavery than he likely wants his leftist viewers to know. As a descendant of the Vanderbilt family, one of the wealthiest “old money” families in American history, Cooper is a direct descendant of big time slave owners. Cooper’s great-great grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt, owned several plantations,

The relationship between President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is so fractured the pair haven’t spoken in weeks, a new report said Tuesday. And McConnell has privately said he doesn’t know if Trump can even salvage his presidency, The New York Times reported. The feud has only deepened since the Senate was unable to repeal Obamacare, and the president’s incendiary comments after the unrest in Charlottesville only made things worse, the paper reported. The rift, marked by Trump’s repeated attacks on the majority leader on Twitter and an angry phone call between the two that deteriorated into cursing, comes at

President Trump’s “America First” base was the biggest loser of Trump’s speech on Afghanistan Monday night, and many quickly expressed their disappointment at the business-as-usual address from the president who had once promised to limit American intervention abroad and focus on nation-building at home. Trump’s speech, in which he pledged to increase the number of troops in the 16-year-war, was the first since the departure of Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and confirmed the fears of many on the right that without a strong nationalist voice in the West Wing, the President would revert to the same old fare that Americans had

Students at Howard University, a top-rated historically black college in Washington D.C., took to social media to express their anger over a group of white high school girls wearing pro-Trump clothing who visited the campus on Saturday. ROCKLIN, Calif. — The Rocklin Academy school board is facing tough questions from parents concerned over a controversial incident involving transgender discussions inside a kindergarten class, CBS Sacramento reports.
