Breaking: President Trump Fires Reince
Priebus, Hires General John Kelly as
Chief of Staff…

President Trump has just announced via Twitter that he has fired Reince Priebus from the position of Chief-of-Staff and has replaced him with DHS Secretary John Kelly. It would appear GOPe Priebus’s inability to guide ObamaCare was the final straw. (Tweets) Perhaps this also provides the opening to move HR McMaster out of the NSC and into the DHS position…. interesting development.

"It would appear GOPe Priebus’s inability to guide ObamaCare was the final straw."

That was the purpose of placing Priebus in the CoS position. That was also the purpose in "playing along" with McConnell and Ryan.

They all must go. They have failed - no more excuses.

Appointing Priebus was a sop to the ossified GOPe, and resulted in more of the same. Bravo to the ouster.

Excellent. No job should be safe. Perform or get replaced. I suppose that is one of the basic differences between the musical chairs world of DC where one just flits from position to position always attached to the teat of the taxpayer and the commercial world where you perform or are shown the door.
I would like to also mention that the needs of the employer may change and your services no longer are the best fit. No shame in it, just different needs.
I suspect Mr. Priebus found himself in the latter case.
Since it appears Ryan and McConnell won´t be assisting the Executive branch, what might the next move be?
Oh, and #Nevertrumpers start your whining!

Its looking more and more that Trump cannot trust any Washington insider. Not exactly surprising. The Washington Republicans never accomplish anything. If they were a sports team, they would be winless.

Although I never found Priebus particularly objectionable, I wondered what this Vanilla Jane was doing at the top of the RNC before being kicked upstairs into the office of PDT´s Chief of Staff. (Why that?) The GOP is suffering from an astonishing dearth of political talent at the administrative levels, not to mention the Uniparty congresscritters who do the Democrats´ bidding, unbidd. Disgusting and discouraging. Priebus wasn´t getting things done; he didn´t advance the ball. On to the next. May Kelly be more effective.

I saw Priebus on Fox News Sunday at least once. He was good at keeping Chris Wallace from interrupting him ("but, but, but...") before he got to the main points of his statements.

I got the impression that Priebus was appointed to be a wily liaison with Congress. That doesn´t seem to have worked out.

If Priebus is a leaker, he deserves to be tossed out on his butt and prosecuted.

I don´t think I´d want to cross the Mooch.

At best, his appointment was an olive branch to the GOP to help bridge a gap. He was ineffective and represented the mainstream Republicans but did little for the conservative causes. The GOP is a sad place where candidates run on promises and deliver nothing. The ones that that voted to repeal Obamacare before did so because they knew it would be vetoed. The postured on that, the wall, reduced taxes and reform. In the end, they let themselves be slapped around like weaklings at the beach. Sad. Good riddance.

Is there another recently retired Marine Corp 4 star general that Trump can tap for DHS Secretary? First he got General "Mad Dog" Mattis then General John Kelly ... these guys rock!

In fact, find 2 more ... the 2nd retired 4 star will replace either AG Sessions or Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein ... and probably better that he´s not a lawyer because they´re all a bunch of sewer rats.

I suspected from the onset POTUS appointed Priebus Chief of Staff to remove him from his position as Chairman of the RNC, and had no intention of keeping him on staff.
Priebus has always been a Bush lover, and will most likely be hired by "Jeb! please clap" Bush in the near future.

Trump appointed Priebus to get control of the GOP party leadership (and purse strings). He gave Priebus a chance to get on board and he failed. Now he can go change McCain´s bedpans.

We´ll see if Kelly can corral Ryan and McConnell. If not, Ryan will get Boehner-ed, and Guys like Heller (R-NV) will get primaried.

There are 23 Democrats, 2 Independents and 8 Republican Senators up in 2018. Who controls the cash-rich RNC? Trump.

Pence is coming to Nevada in August for a big GOP event - the Basque Fry. Keynote speaker. Heller and RINO Governor Sandoval may get thrown into the frying pan. Nevada went for Hillary (GASP!).

Re #22, agree on Preibus - that was a pretty obvious tactic at the time. As for Nevada’s Heller, his performance at the Obamacare repeal vote showed his weakness:

Additionally, it should be noted for an accurate record that Nevada Republican Senator Dean Heller delayed his own roll call vote, skipped his name when called, until he was able to see that McCain cast the vote against America.

When Heller was safe – as in: able to hide his malicious intent and vote “aye” at the conclusion of the roll- he gave the appearance of support. A very typical albeit Machiavellian maneuver, customarily subtle and historically utilized by Senator Ted Cruz with few paying attention.

On another subject, some who show up here don’t seem to realize that they are well-remembered. Old #NeverTrumpers never seem to die. Or go away. Like pesky fleas.

James Murdoch, the CEO of 21st Century Fox, slammed Trump´s equivocating response to the Charlottesville violence in a letter to staff on Thursday. Murdoch, who is also the son of Fox founder Rupert Murdoch - a long-time friend and ally of Trump - appeared to take umbrage with Trump´s claim that there were ´very good people´ among the white supremacists that marched in the Virginia city. ´Charlottesville and the reaction to it by the President of the United States concern[s] all of us as Americans and free people,´ he wrote, in part, according to a copy of the email obtained by The

The Republican Party´s collective response to Donald Trump´s handling of the Charlottesville race riots turned uglier on Friday. Mitt Romney, the failed 2012 GOP presidential candidate and former Massachusetts governor whom Trump has bashed relentlessly for more than two years, lashed out against him on Facebook for what he said was a hamfisted message during Tuesday´s press conference – and demanded a full-throated apology from the president. (Snip) Trump´s remoteness from the rest of the GOP has become so severe that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, a longtime ally of the president´s, sounded a loud alarm Friday morning.

Washington — A prominent Republican senator delivered a stinging rebuke Thursday of Donald Trump’s short time in office, declaring he has not shown the stability or competence required for an American president to succeed. Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, also said Trump “recently has not demonstrated that he understands the character of this nation.” (Snip) Trump, he said, needs “to take stock of the role that he plays in our nation and move beyond himself, move way beyond himself, and move to a place where daily he’s waking up thinking about what is best for

A House Democrat introduced a resolution on Friday suggesting that President Trump undergo a physical and mental health exam to help determine whether he is fit for office. Rep. Zoe Lofgren’s (D-Calif.) resolution specifically calls on Vice President Pence and Trump’s Cabinet members to “quickly secure the services of medical and psychiatric professionals” to “assist in their deliberations” invoking the 25th Amendment, which outlines presidential removal procedures. It posits that such an examination by doctors would “determine whether the president suffers from mental disorder or other injury that impairs his abilities and prevents him from discharging his Constitutional duties.

The Presidency: President Trump´s statements regarding the tragic events in Charlottesville have created a firestorm that, even by the unique Trump-era standards, appears unprecedented. Unless Trump can undo the damage, it could cripple his administration. In his presidential memoir, "Decision Points," President George W. Bush wrote about the fallout from 2015´s Hurricane Katrina and his own mishandling of the situation. In particular, he admitted that a photo taken of him flying over New Orleans was a huge mistake. "That photo of me hovering over the damage suggested I was detached from the suffering on the ground. That was not how

Former Vice President Al Gore said his one piece of advice to President Trump would be to "resign" immediately. Gore made the statement in a video interview published Thursday on LAD Bible, the United Kingdom´s largest entertainment website. He was there to discuss climate change and his new documentary, "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power," which was released this month. The interviewer asked if there was "one piece of advice" for Trump, what would it be? He responded: "Resign." The interview appears to have been recorded before the premiere of Gore´s new film in the U.K. on Aug. 10. Gore´s
