On Wednesday night, I received a phone call from Anthony Scaramucci, the new White House communications director. He wasn’t happy. Earlier in the night, I’d tweeted, citing a “senior White House official,” that Scaramucci was having dinner at the White House with President Trump, the First Lady, Sean Hannity, and the former Fox News executive Bill Shine. It was an interesting group, and raised some questions. Was Trump getting strategic advice from Hannity? Was he considering hiring Shine? But Scaramucci had his own question—for me. “Who leaked that to you?” he asked. I said I couldn’t give him that information.
Comments: Be forewarned, Scaramucci uses some of the most vulgar language (usually from Democrats) that I have seen in awhile, especially about Steve Bannon. His behavior is unacceptable and I liked the guy. It is appalling and disgusting as a member of the White House team. In a Tweet he said ´sometimes he uses colorful language.´ Link below.
Contd. Sorry, that isn´t an apology and doesn´t make it acceptable. It´s obvious he´s not savvy enough to tell Lizza that what he had to say was ´off the record.´ He should know the media is not a friend of Trump or this White House and should have known better. I´m extremely disappointed in his behavior.
He did a tremendous job at that press conference last week and was very impressive. I don´t know how he makes amends for this vile behavior because you know the media is going to be on fire with it for days. It is just not helpful.
Re #1, the language didn´t bother me as much as him apparently thinking a mediot--even one who used to troll after him for crumbs of news, would keep it quiet. There is no off the record for the yapping media hounds that are after the president.
Somkin´. The guy is foul-mouthed and rude but deadly. He means to drain his corner of the swamp ... including, shortly, Priebus. And he intends to have it done by yesterday. I know, it is shocking and startling to hear or read such terrible language but the man don´t play. He intents to stop the leaks. That falls into the draining of the swamp. He could have every other word as a cuss word and I wouldn´t care, he is doing the job. There is plenty of that going on this site only cutely hidden in various clever ways. We have waited 6 months for someone to pitch in and help PT. Now we have a guy burning up the road and we are having fainting spells over his language? Give me a break. He is our General Grant. Now we have a winner and we want to roast him for not being dainty enough.
EXACTLY, #2! I think Trump and Scaramucci know what they´re doing. They are making him look like a Crazy person who is hiding around corners to hopefully hear a Leaker giving information. Personally, I think Scaramucci wants to put the fear of God in everyone that if they even think of leaking they are not only going to be fired, they will also rack up Thousands of dollars in Legal fees defending themselves to the FBI and whoever else gets involved in what they did. It just might work! I doubt anyone working in the White House wants to leave with a bad reputation and years and years ahead of paying off the debt from the little mistake they made!
Scaramucci calls it colorful language. I call it vulgar and disgusting. He seems to think this is what Trump wants out of him, threatening everyone. Go ahead and clean house until no one will be left to leak. Things are not going to change. Funny, I can remember when most posters couldn´t stand big mouth New Yorkers.
It´s getting harder and harder to defend this White House. I a exhausted and feel like I want to get off of this train. Either there´s a Game of Thrones in place, or we´ve been had. What could have been!
It seems to me that that´s the way the movers on the East coast talk. I don´t like it. I don´t do it. My friends don´t talk that. The mass of people from the heartland who voted for Trump don´t talk like that. However, IMO the mistake is to whom he spouted off rather than the language he used.
The kindest interpretation that I can come up with is that both he and Trump are intentionally creating chaos on the surface to keep the media stirred up while underneath things are getting accomplished. I certainly hope that is the case with the noise about Sessions who is a 100% gentleman.
First, I think Scaramucci fumes too much. And he talks too much. Second, I am not overly offended by his language, since this was in a one-on-one interview. I do not expect kids to be reading it. But, all this "laying out" for a reporter is hardly the sign of a clever operator. The scariest people I ever worked for were the most quiet. You never really knew what they were thinking or planning. And, they were methodical rather than impulsive. An offence might happen on one day and three months later, that person would be packing his stuff in a card board box and being escorted out of the building by security.
I wanted and really more hoped for, a real machiavellian White House. I hoped DT´s business experience would have taught him how to manage people. And perhaps in a private world, he is more subtile. This Whit House is a fish bowl that leaks so bad it might not last. His perpetual, petty, petulant, tweets expressing his frustrations and irks are not at all helpful, even though I like having a direct line from our President. But, this seems to be more like chaos than Presidential now. I can´t imagine what foreign leaders are thinking when it comes to making quiet deals with us. Who in their right mind would make contact with this bunch of nuts? Talking to Trump´s White House would be like speaking through a megaphone in Grand Central Station.
This is an absolute disaster... Note that Scaramucci has not denied the reporter´s account. Please, L-dotters, don´t ever go out in public or on social media and hang the label of ´paranoid schizophrenic´ on another person. That is slander, plain and simple. The only defense for libel and slander is that the statement is true, and Reince Prebius is not a paranoid schizophrenic. Second, Prebius is a public figure, so he´d have to prove reckless disregard for the truth. And this was a reckless statement, 100 percent. And it´s on the record? Even dog catchers know better. If this is hiring the best, I don´t want to see mediocre.
I grew up and worked summers around some rough pipeline and construction workers more than 50 years ago and such rough, coarse, braggadocio language between men was not unusual back then. They were salt of the earth rough hewned hard working physical men. Although such language was never used when women were present it´s politically incorrect today any time or place. To me it´s just part of the feminization of men today by the left. So while I´m surprised such language was spoken to a leftist sycophant of the msm I´ve heard it all before so I´m not offended.
Guys at that level of power and pay should be able to hold their tongues better. A rant like that just makes me shake my head and wonder what is going on. It´s petulant. "I´m going to fire everybody..." until I get to th e leaker... You know he won´t do that. All sound and fury signifying nothing.
Oooooo....Scaramucci said some bad words! Oooooo....the Republic will Crumble! Ooooooo!!!!
People need to take a trip around the block and get a grip. There´s going to be a lot worse things thrown around in the not-too-distant future than Scaramucci´s bad language, so get used to it. If you can´t take that sort of language...which is NOT as bad as it can get, trust me....you´re going to turn to stone when the guacamole really starts to fly!
While I support Trump´s agenda, I´ve never been a fan of his methods or the people he surrounds himself with...who interestingly are polar opposites of his wife and children. He seems to like operating in a state of semi-controlled chaos at all times. He´s comfortable in it. And he finds it effective for defeating enemies and ultimately getting what he wants.
In the case of Scaramucci, I agree with the description of him as a street punk who got rich. In other words, a prototypical Manhattanite. The kind that Trump likes and pals around with as he limo trolls that sewer of a city.
We´ll see if his choice of a clever sewer rat to clear out the rat´s nest of leakers will actually work. But you know it´s not going to be pretty.
The header is a lie and Lizza admits it in the first paragraph. The header clearly states that Moochi called Lizza FOR THE PURPOSE of unloading, while just a few sentences later he states that the REASON for Moochi´s call was to ask one question, "WHO leaked?" The unloading came later; it was NOT the PURPOSE of the call as the header claims. I realize this is a technical detail, but it´s a great example of HOW the media twists words to fit their bias. And how most people miss it, but will be left only remembering the misleading headline. Of course, NONE of this excuses the vulgar language and bluff, bluster, and bullying that are getting too exhausting for me to watch on a daily basis. You don´t need to get in the swamp in order to drain it.
The Dims/Enmedia = Organized Crime(D) have been playing gutter-pondscum dirty since way before even their "kitty grabber" and "golden shower" attempts to bring down The People´s President. They are engaged in a treasonous, utterly corrupt coup - which must never be forgotten when weighing what tactics should or shouldn´t be used against them, not to mention what´s at stake should Organized Crime(D) actually succeed in bringing down our people. I am way beyond caring how The Resistance is destroyed, as long as it´s destroyed. To hell with civility - they only use it against us.
Interesting that a guy who is supposed to be so savvy allowed himself to be sandbagged by a member of the media. Why is it that people in Republican administrations always succumb to the delusion that if they make nice with the press, the press will give them a break?
I expect this will upset the fastidious ones here, but the fact is, if you drove out everyone in Washington who used obscene language , D.C. would be a ghost town.
Memo to the Pearl Clutching folks having the vapors: Mooch cusses a bit, but he could never reach the low level Hillary reaches. Those NeverTrumpers would rather have Hillary, I expect. Or the paper-stealing Bernie.
RE the (usually excellent and "pithy") staff comment: I think there is a more important "matter" (the Senate vote early this morning) that we should be talking about.
(Sorry for the delay, but I just woke up after an all-nighter. Some folks put on soothing music or white noise (or even city sounds like in that commercial) to help them sleep: I put on the news. Even at low volume, that was the wrong thing to induce sleep last night!)
To repeat the point of several posters: it isn´t the language - although it´s entirely unnecessary and should be beneath the dignity of anyone working at the WH - it´s the fact he spouted off to the enemedia. This Lizza clown works for the New Yorker: strike one; he is a regular contributor to CNN: strikes two and three. In the style of Mooch, "what the hell were you thinking???"
I´m one that thinks that Scaramucci should not have used the language that he did. But, I can´t see that he was using it to hit a hard point that he wanted to make. Now, I know that there are other words that can do the same, but when ones temper has gotten to the point that its hard to take the time to find a proper word to use. I´ve done it myself and I wish I hadn´t. And let me ask, has anyone here have ever heard of a American General named George Patton? He was also known for his rough language but he was also noted for being one of the best generals that this country ever had.
What a hoot! I think Mooch is great. He just threw in the water a big bucket of chum and the sharks are in a feeding frenzy.
Of course he knew the New Yorker would print his every word and obsess on the naughty ones in public, while in private they’re sweating over the firmly stated intention that leakers will be identified, fired, and prosecuted. Now, it could have been delivered in measured tones at a televised press conference but that would have been the Uniparty way. This is war and playing by your enemy’s playbook is a sure loser. Neither The Donald nor Mooch are losers.
“Profanity is the effort of a feeble brain to express itself forcibly.” ? Spencer W. Kimball He freely demonstrates his very limited vocabulary. I feel sorry that Sarah Huckabee has to work with this jerk.
In the 1980s I was a young working professional woman who went to work in a NYC government construction agency and it was the best job of my life. This is how construction guys, Wall Street guys whatever talk and roll. It´s not nice, but boy oh boy, can they get things done. My language took a nose dive because if you were squeamish about such things, you could never be seen as a serious player in a rough and tough world. For non-New Yorkers I know this sounds crazy but this is the way construction, Wall Street, high energy, high performing guys and gals work in this crazy city.
That said, I think Scaramucci let his frustration and emotions get the better of him and spoke to the reporter as he probably had many times in the past, but before he actually went to work for the despised Trump. He got nailed.
I hope he can keep his emotions in check because as Don Corleone says in the best management film every made, The Godfather, "never let anyone outside the family know what you are thinking."
Mooch take that advice, unless of course it was all an act.
Oh good grief! Do you want the leaks stopped? Do you want the bad guys weeded out of the Trump Administration? I highly suspect that many commenters who are now saying that they can´t support Trump if he has Scaramucci on the team, never were on the Trump team in the first place. This is war! You obviously can´t stomach what has to be done in a war, be it war of words or actions and deeds. I say put your little fingers in your ears if foul language offends you. Go back to your little ivory towers you live in and let the grown ups fight for President Trump.
House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday dismissed the idea that funding President Donald Trump´s promised border wall will inevitably lead to a government shutdown as a September 30 deadline looms for a new federal budget. ´I don´t think a government shutdown is necessary, and I don´t think most people want to see a government shutdown, ourselves included,´ Ryan told reporters following remarks at the Intel Corporation´s Oregon headquarters. ´I don´t think anyone´s interested in having a shutdown. I don´t think it´s in our interest to do so,´ he said. The House included $1.6 billion for Trump´s wall construction in a
A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by a sanctuary city in California challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order withholding grants from jurisdictions that do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities The city of Richmond, Calif., filed suit in March challenging the constitutionality of the order. U.S. District Judge William Orrick dismissed the case Monday, finding Richmond did not have standing to challenge the law. In his ruling dismissing the case, Orrick explained the city had not demonstrated that it had reason to believe Trump’s order would be enforced against them, and therefore didn’t have standing to bring a case. “Because Richmond’s
President Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. will focus on combating the Islamic State´s online recruiting efforts following recent military gains in Iraq. (Snip) "I will tell you, we are going to start working very hard on the Internet because they are using the Internet at a level that they should not be allowed to use the Internet," Trump said during a bill-signing event with the American Legion in Reno, Nev. "They´re recruiting from the Internet and we are going to work under my administration very hard so that doesn´t happen."
“Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe had some choice words Tuesday night in response to a question he got accusing him of harboring “white nationalist” sympathies. Rowe posted a question submitted to him on his Facebook page that accused the TV host’s advocacy for the skilled trades of amounting to anti-intellectualism, and therefore racism. A man named Chuck Adkins asked, “One of the tenants of white nationalism is that college educated people are academic elitests. Comment? No? I’m not surprised. (Snip) “Since we’re being candid, allow me to say how much I dislike your post. Everything about it annoys me –
City workers in Charlottesville, Va., covered a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in a black shroud on Wednesday in mourning for the woman killed during a white nationalist rally earlier this month. A video showed the workers in Emancipation Park using rope to lower the tarp over Lee’s statue as some onlookers cheered. Charlottesville’s city council voted on Tuesday to cover the Lee statue and one of Confederate Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson at another park in honor of Heather Heyer. The 32-year-old was killed on Aug. 12 as she protested the gathering of white supremacists when a neo-Nazi
Georgia State University has launched a program for students to serve as "Multicultural Competence and Peer Education Ambassadors" (MAP). The MAP ambassadors will work 12 hours per month to "train and educate the Georgia State University community in multicultural competence, allowing them to explore the world through a more progressive perspective." "Cultural competence and identity affirmation are highly integral for the success of our students," the ambassador position description explained. Campus Reform reported that the university will recruit six students, each paid $100 per month for their work. The ambassadors "must facilitate at least two programs per month," including "workshops, discussion forums, and
Former FBI Director James Comey will deliver a keynote address at Howard University in September, and will join the faculty in a part-time role this fall. Comey, who was fired as President Donald Trump´s FBI director in May, will speak at the opening convocation ceremony next month. The annual event is designed to welcome students to the historically black university, Politico reported Wednesday. The newly appointed 2017-2018 Gwendolyn S. and Colbert I. King Endowed Chair in Public Policy will also deliver a series of five lectures related to public policy, the university announced in a press release. "I am pleased
I’ve been avoiding the news lately because it pains me to see my beloved country so divided, with people so bitterly angry at each other. All the shouting, violence, and destruction of historical monuments have only brought up a feeling of déjà vu. America is clearly undergoing a Cultural Revolution that is eerily similar to Mao’s Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution which took place in China in the 1960s. Maybe Karl Marx was right after all when he declared that “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.” Both Movements Started On Campuses, And Spread China’s Cultural Revolution was triggered
California’s highest ranking judicial officer has waded once again into the politically fraught debate over the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policy. State Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, who has previously condemned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations at court facilities, said Tuesday she has a duty to call out federal agents who arrest illegal immigrants in or near the California’s courthouses. “If no one ever speaks out, then we can never be the land of the free and the home of the brave,” Cantil-Sakauye said at a panel discussion hosted by state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, according to the Sacramento Bee. Cantil-Sakauye is one of
Angry parents stampeded a California charter school board meeting Monday after a teacher read her kindergarten class picture books about transgenderism to affirm a gender dysphoric classmate. During the class, parents say, the gender dysphoric boy also switched clothes to look more like a girl in a “gender reveal.” Parents were not notified beforehand of the discussion or the classmate’s psychological condition, and learned about it when their confused kindergarteners arrived home from school that day. “The kindergartners came home very confused, about whether or not you can pick your gender, whether or not they really were a boy or
The United Nations has criticised Donald Trump for failing to "unequivocally and unconditionally reject and condemn racist hate speech and crimes in Charlottesville" and throughout the US. “There should be no place in the world for racist white supremacist ideas or any similar ideologies that reject the core human rights principles of human dignity and equality," the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination said. While the committee´s statement stopped short of criticising the US President by name, it said it was calling on the US Government, as well as high-level politicians and public officials, “to address the root
ESPN is now in full blown damage control mode over what would seem to be one of the more ridiculous self-made controversies in recent times — the decision to pull a broadcaster from a University of Virginia football game telecast because his name happens to be Robert Lee. With cable news and social media reaction nearly universal in their criticism of ESPN, the Worldwide Leader is looking to calm the outcry from those on the left and the right over the decision. In an email sent to Huffington Post contributor Yashar Ali, an unnamed ESPN executive tried to downplay the controversy. “This
Two members of the Kennedy family were arrested for disorderly conduct near the family’s famed compound on Cape Cod, according to police. Max Kennedy, the 52-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and a noise violation around 1 a.m. Sunday morning after reports of loud partying, Barnstable Police told the Boston Herald. His daughter Caroline, a 22-year-old California resident, was also arrested at a home a short walk from the main Kennedy compound. (Snip) The arrests come after a brush with the law for another of RFK’s grandchildren, Conor Kennedy, who
In her most detailed public comments about what happened during the second presidential debate, Hillary Clinton said her “skin crawled” as Donald Trump loomed behind her on the stage in St. Louis in October. The comments are included in her new book, “What Happened,” which she called an attempt to “pull back the curtain” on her losing bid for the presidency. Some of the moments during the campaign, she said, “baffled” her. The book comes out Sept. 12, but audio excerpts, read by Clinton herself, were played on MSNBC on Wednesday morning. In the recording, Clinton noted that she wrote
Black Lives Matter activist Chanelle Helm released a list of “requests” to white people in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, this month. Helm, the so-called “cofounder and core organizer of Black Lives Matter Louisville,” explained in an article published at Leoweekly.com the things she says need to “change.” “White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty,” Helm writes in an article titled “White people, here are 10 requests from a Black Lives Matter leader.” White people are asked, “Give up the
I’ve been on the Barron Trump train from the start, but it’s about time the president’s son starts dressing the part. Barron is the youngest son of Donald Trump and the only child the president shares with Melania Trump. Time and time again Barron has proved that he’s just a normal 11-year-old kid, despite the fact that his dad is the President of the United States and he lives in the White House. One thing that isn’t normal though is the way he dresses when he joins his parents for a public appearance. Barron was returning to the White House from New
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are among a set of White House aides pushing President Trump to allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to stay, in an effort to get Democrats to fund the president´s border wall. McClatchy reported that the group of White House officials have suggested using so-called ´Dreamers´ as a bargaining chip, in order to check off some of the president´s campaign promises on immigration, including the wall, additional detention facilities, an E-verify system for employers and cuts to legal immigration. However, such a move would break another campaign promise, as candidate Donald Trump had pledged
Thanks to Monday´s solar eclipse, disastrous traffic jams have been taking over the country these last few days. And as folks leave the first coast-to-coast solar eclipse since 1918, the U.S. Department of Transportation estimated that nearly two-thirds of the nation´s resident live withing a day´s drive of the path of totality. And with Oregon being the first to see the eclipse, it and neighboring state Washington are experiencing the worst bouts of the traffic jams. ´This is the biggest transportation event that has ever hit Oregon,´ Dave Thompson, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation told AP. If money talks, George and Amal Clooney made it shout Tuesday, by donating $1 million to the Southern Poverty Law Center to help fight hate groups in the wake of tragedy and violence in Charlottesville, Va. The SPLC, a leading civil-rights group that monitors hate groups and campaigns against bigotry, is partnering with the Clooney Foundation for Justice to increase its ability to combat hate groups in the USA by highlighting the dangers of white-supremacist ideology.
As the face of CNN, Anderson Cooper makes a very good living as wealthy, privileged white man casting judgments of affiliation upon his political enemies. This includes taking a handful of idiotic white supremacists and declaring they represent millions of Republicans/conservatives, pro-America, Trump supporters, etc. And yet Mr. Cooper himself has a much closer affiliation to slavery than he likely wants his leftist viewers to know. As a descendant of the Vanderbilt family, one of the wealthiest “old money” families in American history, Cooper is a direct descendant of big time slave owners. Cooper’s great-great grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt, owned several plantations,
The relationship between President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is so fractured the pair haven’t spoken in weeks, a new report said Tuesday. And McConnell has privately said he doesn’t know if Trump can even salvage his presidency, The New York Times reported. The feud has only deepened since the Senate was unable to repeal Obamacare, and the president’s incendiary comments after the unrest in Charlottesville only made things worse, the paper reported. The rift, marked by Trump’s repeated attacks on the majority leader on Twitter and an angry phone call between the two that deteriorated into cursing, comes at
President Trump’s “America First” base was the biggest loser of Trump’s speech on Afghanistan Monday night, and many quickly expressed their disappointment at the business-as-usual address from the president who had once promised to limit American intervention abroad and focus on nation-building at home. Trump’s speech, in which he pledged to increase the number of troops in the 16-year-war, was the first since the departure of Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and confirmed the fears of many on the right that without a strong nationalist voice in the West Wing, the President would revert to the same old fare that Americans had
Students at Howard University, a top-rated historically black college in Washington D.C., took to social media to express their anger over a group of white high school girls wearing pro-Trump clothing who visited the campus on Saturday. Some tweets referring to their visit also suggested the white high school girls should be beaten up. One of the high school guests, in a social media post of her own, said they were simply visiting the school’s cafeteria to get food as part of a larger tour of the nation’s capital, and faced a barrage of insults and aggressive acts, including having
ROCKLIN, Calif. — The Rocklin Academy school board is facing tough questions from parents concerned over a controversial incident involving transgender discussions inside a kindergarten class, CBS Sacramento reports. "These parents feel betrayed by the school district that they were not notified," said Karen England with the Capitol Resource Institute. (Snip) "The kindergartners came home very confused, about whether or not you can pick your gender, whether or not they really were a boy or a girl," said England. Parents say besides the books, the student at some point during class also changed clothes and was revealed as her true
