Senate Parliamentarian Blocks Defunding

Daily Wire, by Hank Berrien

On Friday night, Elizabeth MacDonough, the Senate parliamentarian, made damn sure that defunding of Planned Parenthood will not be part of the Senate health care bill, citing the Byrd rule to stipulate that the key provisions violated Senate rules. MacDonough advised then-Vice President Albert Gore on the procedure for counting ballots following Bush v. Gore. Senator Bernie Sanders chortled, “The parliamentarian’s decision today proves once again that the process Republicans have undertaken to repeal the Affordable Care Act and throw 22 million Americans off of health insurance is a disaster.” It is now clear the Senate’s version of a new health

According to the "parliamentarian" spending money on abortions is not a budget matter. If spending isn´t budget related what exactly is a budget for.

The Byrd (brain) Rule said it must be budget neutral and may be budget negative.

"The Byrd Rule is a United States Senate rule that amends the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 to allow Senators during the Reconciliation Process to block legislation if it possibly would increase significantly the federal deficit beyond a ten-year term or is otherwise an "extraneous matter" as set forth in the Budget Act. It is named after West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd."

I thought the presiding officer decided if the parliamentarian´s opinion was to be accepted or overruled.

But I´m certainly not an expert. OTOH the Senate has 100 experts and how much do they get done?

IGNORE IT! Stomp ont the "Byrd Rule" - it is a fake barrier, a pretend reason for RINOs be "forced" to be RINOs, which they use only as an excuse.

Ok. We need to ask every Senate Republican WHY the Senate Parliamentarian is god? Pray tell, just as #3 stated so well, WHY is the Byrd "rule" chiseled in stone?

Have we heard voices of disgust, protest over this? Where are each of our Senators who declare their dedication to protection of the unborn? Remaining silent is not an option.

Call your Senators tomorrow. WE must demand this not be the end of it. We are tired of promises they will cease funding PP. This only happened Friday night. I expect Pro-life Senators to take a stand on this hill and fight! If PP funding in the health care bill, they should refuse to vote for it.

Martin Shkreli just can’t help himself. The notorious “pharma bro” who was recently convicted on three counts of fraud in connection with hedge funds, was released on $5 million bail, but his behavior since then has led to the Justice Department pushing for him to be locked up ASAP. As Hillary Clinton begins a book tour to promote her 2016 campaign autopsy “What Happened,” video has begun to swirl online of a 2014 interview between her and CNN’s Christiane Amanpour to promote her previous book, “Hard Choices.” During the exchange, Clinton had some tough words for the children of illegal immigrants, including waves of unaccompanied minors coming in 2014 — telling Amanpour that the United States was a nation of laws and that they probably had to go. “We have to send a clear message, just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to

Suddenly, it seems like Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) are driving the agenda in Congress. The deal President Trump struck with the two Democrats over the objection of the majority leaders in his own party has at least temporarily upended the balance of power in Washington, emboldening Democrats who now see space to work with Trump on immigration and spending. It’s a dramatic shift from Trump’s first seven months in office, when the president worked almost exclusively with Republicans and Democrats were largely an afterthought. But

On this issue, his actions have been more effective than those of past presidents. So far, the assumption that Trump is bungling or exacerbating the crisis with North Korea isn’t justified. Ever since he came down the escalator at Trump Tower that fateful day in June 2015, President Trump’s critics have worried that his anger-management and impulse-control issues would be exposed in an international crisis. Everything we’ve learned about him tells us that he is temperamentally unsuited to diplomacy or putting forward the image of quiet strength and confidence that is synonymous with traditional ideas about good leadership.

Let us define our terms: What is an Act of War? There are two types of Acts of War: de jure, which means as a matter of law and de facto, which means as a matter of fact. Unless a nation literally announces (de jure) to the world community, as in a declaration of war, that it committed an attack on the personnel and/or territory of another nation it comes down to a matter of fact (de facto) as assumed by the nation being attacked. These are the established facts: since late 2016

Much of what´s in her book has already been reported on, thanks to leaked copies of the Democratic presidential candidate´s latest work. The price cut, however, has likely helped to boost sales. It is No. 1 on Amazon.

Nearly a year after she lost the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton is promoting a book about how her defeat is everyone else´s fault. So much, so familiar. What´s striking is that even though she has barely begun her book tour, Clinton has already given the game away, reverting to her self-pitying idea that half her countrymen are "irredeemable" and "deplorable." Remember that riff she got into at a 2016 private fundraiser? No? Well here it is, to freshen your recollection.
