Trump´s DOJ gears up for
crackdown on marijuana

The Hill, by Lydia Wheeler

The Trump administration is readying for a crackdown on marijuana users under Attorney General Jeff Sessions. President Trump’s Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety, led by Sessions, is expected to release a report next week that criminal justice reform advocates fear will link marijuana to violent crime and recommend tougher sentences for those caught growing, selling and smoking the plant. Sessions sent a memo in April updating the U.S. Attorney’s Offices and Department of Justice Department (DOJ) component heads on the work of the task force, which he said would be accomplished through various subcommittees. In the memo,

I can understand why he wants to enforce the laws against pot - but shouldn´t meth, crack, heroin and so forth be the top priority?

Sessions should have been appointed head of the DEA, and someone else to head the DOJ.

president Trump didn´t beat the drum on this while campaigning that I recall. Maybe I missed it. Of all that is on his plate why this now?
I agree pot is no good but after almost 50 years of the war on drugs and it is worse than ever it just doesn´t make sense to me. Toss the liberals a bone or joint and let them have their pot. I have a feeling this report connecting pot to violence is going to sound like Marijuana Madness.
I do agree that it is harmful and cause harm to those innocent but ... now?

Meanwhile we have a Somali cop shooting an unarmed woman who was simply reporting a crime, and a Democrat led opposition research project disguised as a Special Prosecutor investigation.

Now that Wray has been confirmed for FBI director, maybe the gloves can finally come off and Sessions can get serious about Rule of Law. Far as I am concerned, Weed is way down the list in priorities for now. I don´t use it at all, would not use it. But Sessions has far more important things to deal with here.

Sessions has an obsession with drugs. He is almost unhinged in his views. There are real crimes that need attending to (like half the Democrat party) and he´s going to start a new war on weed. What a maroon.

Despite the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution and federal statutes to the contrary, we now have cities that declare themselves to be "sanctuaries" for illegal immigrants, and states that "legalize" marijuana cultivation and sales. In the spirit of this new and defiant states rights movement, I think my state should repeal the federal income tax. Bet I could get a lot of signatures to put that one on the ballot.

Actually #10 pot growth and distribution is being taken from the cartels and placed under the jurisdiction of those States which have legalized it. Furthermore, the alcohol industry and the cigarette industry are scrambling to get involved because it´s such a bonanza of revenue, not to mention millions in monies for State taxes.

Sessions always appeared to be a weak choice for AG, a mollycoddle. He needs to go because his focus is on the wrong things. Marijuana? Really? When states are approving it for medical use or outright legalizing it?

Kind of late for that bus, Mr. Sessions. Seen Reefer Madness lately? Apparently. The AG wants to be FDR´s Harry Anslinger, eighty years later. Lock up those hippies. /s off

Rudy Giuliani wanted the job of Secretary of State but was passed over. He would have been a stellar AG, and still might be. Trump made a poor choice when he chose Sessions. Maybe he will get another chance soon.

What is happening with pot in the US is a VERY bad thing.
There is a good reason why the pot legalization movement and the sanctuary city/state movements are linked. They are being financed by the cartels and the politicians they buy toe the line on both issues.
It is a system that protects their gang members and their drug sales operations. It is also a way to launder the large sums of cash via sold out the front door, returned at the back door sales.
No legitimate business is going to take the liability of selling a drug that is not only illegal, but the quality and strength are unknown.
Getting more people addicted to pot is just a side benefit.

#10,#14,#15,#16,#18- Valid comments. Marijuana is not a benign drug; it is a “gateway drug.” Using the substance leads to more usage as well as abusing other drugs and alcohol. Individuals using cannabis are approximately doubling their risk of developing a drug use disorder. According to British studies, marijuana raises the risk of getting schizophrenia and triggers heart attacks. George Soros is a huge proponent of marijuana legalization; according to a report published 4-4-14, he has spent at least $80 million on the legalization effort. It has been suggested the goal is to addict a nation to make it more pliable.

How about beginning a broad investigation of the Clintoon Crime Network? Most of the country has been yearning for this for a very long time now. That is a subject which screams out for some justice to be served.

Suddenly, it seems like Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) are driving the agenda in Congress. The deal President Trump struck with the two Democrats over the objection of the majority leaders in his own party has at least temporarily upended the balance of power in Washington, emboldening Democrats who now see space to work with Trump on immigration and spending. It’s a dramatic shift from Trump’s first seven months in office, when the president worked almost exclusively with Republicans and Democrats were largely an afterthought. But

On this issue, his actions have been more effective than those of past presidents. So far, the assumption that Trump is bungling or exacerbating the crisis with North Korea isn’t justified. Ever since he came down the escalator at Trump Tower that fateful day in June 2015, President Trump’s critics have worried that his anger-management and impulse-control issues would be exposed in an international crisis. Everything we’ve learned about him tells us that he is temperamentally unsuited to diplomacy or putting forward the image of quiet strength and confidence that is synonymous with traditional ideas about good leadership.

Let us define our terms: What is an Act of War? There are two types of Acts of War: de jure, which means as a matter of law and de facto, which means as a matter of fact. Unless a nation literally announces (de jure) to the world community, as in a declaration of war, that it committed an attack on the personnel and/or territory of another nation it comes down to a matter of fact (de facto) as assumed by the nation being attacked. These are the established facts: since late 2016
