Trump Administration Allows
15,000 Temporary Worker Visas

NBC News, by Pete Williams

The Trump administration acted Monday to allow 15,000 more visas for temporary seasonal workers this year. Under authority provided by Congress, the Secretary of Homeland Security is permitted to allow the additional visas after determining that the needs of U.S. businesses can´t be satisfied with Americans willing and qualified to do the work. So-called "H2B visas" are used to bring in non-agricultural guest workers. Landscaping businesses, resorts, and other seasonal employers depend on them every year. A federal law caps the number available at 66,000 a year nationwide, but Congress gave DHS the power to

Comments:
Ibelieve that this is the correct way to control those who claim to be searching for work as "migrants". By controlling those who come in for "seasonal" work needed, and then back home when done, everyone wins. That´s provided no families come with them. (I actually suggested this recently. Wonder if the Trump administration reads our website? They should.)

The hard core "deport all illegals" guy has no problems whatsoever with a properly set up, properly run operation to bring in seasonal farm workers for no more than about 4 months to pick crops. As long as they are monitored and all of them go back home, don´t get welfare or food stamps or other benefits while they are here.

(Video) - Fox News strategic analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (Ret.) sounded off this morning on a Minnesota federal judge´s decision to order an ISIS supporter to undergo "terrorist rehabilitation." Abdullahi Yusuf, a 21-year-old from Minnesota´s Somali community, was sentenced last November by federal judge Michael Davis after he was arrested for plotting to join the terrorist organization. Yusuf then allegedly violated the terms of his 20-year supervised release by watching a documentary on ISIS fighters while at a halfway house. The Russian lawyer who met with President Trump´s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. in New York last year said Tuesday that she is ready to testify before Congress about the meeting. "I´m ready to clarify the situation behind this mass hysteria – but only through lawyers or testifying in the Senate," Natalia Veselnitskaya said in an interview with Russia´s Kremlin-backed RT TV channel. Donald Trump Jr. met with Veselnitskaya in June 2016 after he was informed that she might have incriminating information about the Hillary Clinton, who was his father´s Democratic rival for the presidency at the time. President Trump said election integrity is an American issue, not a Republican or Democratic issue, during a brief appearance Wednesday at the first public meeting of his Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. The meeting comes as the commission and its vice chair Kris W. Kobach have come under fire from Democrats and civil liberty groups who alleged the commission was created to suppress voters, lacked transparency and violated federal law. Several groups filed lawsuits against the commission earlier this month after Mr. Kobach asked states to turn over voter information including names, partial Social Security

Snail slime. On your face. All for the sake of beauty. And, hopefully, a handsome profit for U.S. retailers looking to push it along with other K-beauty trends into the mainstream -- if people can get over the "ick" factor. Korean consumers are on a constant hunt for innovative products and unusual natural ingredients. Now, the decade-old craze is making its way to everyday consumers in the U.S., as K-beauty products jump from niche websites and slide onto the shelves at Target Corp., CVS Health Corp. and Ulta Beauty Inc. stores. The retailers earlier this year announced expansions of the merchandise.

In good, bad and ugly ways, this week has been a revealing metaphor for Donald Trump’s presidency. (Snip) There is no denying that America elected an exceptional president in Trump, a consummate outsider and the first president ever to have no government or military experience. But as it wraps up its first six months, Trump’s presidency looks more conventional than exceptional. Separating the substance from the noise shows him in a position familiar to all new presidents: struggling to turn his campaign promises into reality while juggling foreign-policy challenges and mastering the learning curve of the world’s

German car brand Audi is facing a fierce backlash on social media over an advert aired in China which is being accused of objectifying women in a sexist manner. The advert compares finding a car to finding the perfect wife. It shows a couple at the altar seemingly about to tie the knot before an apparently concerned future mother-in-law interrupts proceedings to inspect the bride’s body. The older woman is shown pinching the younger woman’s nose and ears and scrutinising her teeth while an exasperated groom and priest look on. She then takes a last look at the bride’s chest before a caption declares: “an important

There´s a lot of pork in Washington -- not the kind you eat, the kind that flows out of taxpayers´ pockets into lawmakers´ pet projects. I´m talking about pork-barrel spending. Pork-barrel projects, or "earmarks," are funds lawmakers set aside for their pet projects. Lawmakers will often throw them into spending bills to get their colleagues to vote "yes" and the programs they fund are often created without any hearings in Congress and without being requested by the president or another agency. (Snip) Earmarks have only continued to grow in recent years, even after the House voted in 2011 to place a moratorium on them.

The lot of a censor in China is not always a happy one. Not for lack of trying, Beijing’s suppression of published opposition to its one-party Marxist rule is in trouble. China employs some 1.5 million censors, a half million more than in its uniformed military, and its propaganda — like all government propaganda, it’s so heavy-handed that only the credulous and the cowed could believe it — deserves all its difficulties. A Harvard study says China’s vast censorship operation, “the Great Fire Wall of China,” is currently blocking 18,000 websites. He is set to be released from the re-entry management office on Aug. 16. Once second in line to the presidency, Hastert, 75, is one of the highest-ranking U.S. politicians to ever go to prison. He had been serving a 15-month sentence in a banking violations case that revealed accusations that he had sexually abused teenage boys while coaching wrestling at Yorkville High School in suburban Chicago from 1965 to 1981.

Heading to church one evening in late March, a farmworker and her sister were stopped for speeding in the village of Geneseo, N.Y. They were driving with their five children in the back of the minivan. Two were not in car seats, as required. The police officer, trying to cite the driver for the infractions, discovered she had no driver’s license, so he called Border Patrol to review her Guatemalan passport. Both sisters were undocumented immigrants. They were detained and are facing deportation. Under a Trump administration that has taken an aggressive stance on illegal immigration, the moving car has

They are going out less often.” Cornell didn’t mention President Donald Trump by name, but he talked about a shift in behavior this year and mentioned “border towns” -- where retailers for years have depended on shoppers from northern Mexico for higher revenue.
