Woman who called 911 to report

An Australian woman who was living in Minnesota and engaged to be married next month was shot dead by police — after she called 911 to report a disturbance behind her house. Justine Damond, 40, of Minneapolis, was killed on Saturday night by an officer who was responding to her call, according to the Star Tribune. He and another cop had arrived at her home around 11:30 p.m. — looking for a possible assault — after she claimed to hear “a sound” in the alley behind the residence, the newspaper reports. Three sources with knowledge of the incident said that

I can wait for more info too but generally if you feel threatened by a noise outside and call the cops you should stay in the house.

It seems a bit irresponsible to report on a case that begs for critical information. Police show up to investigate a disturbance and gun down the first woman in pajamas who they find. You might want to ask a question or two before reporting there Chris.

And why in the NY Post?

Agree with #1, you don´t call the cops concerning somebody outside and then go outside. Sounds like the officer just panicked but somebody coming out of the dark when you are on heightened alert tends to cause that. This doesn´t look good.

If the cops were sitting in their car their body cams would be pointing at the dashboard anyway with no voice recordings either - no help there.
The car´s dash cam is pointed forward, but voices might be heard. If the woman was at the driver´s side window and was shot by the cop in the passenger seat, through the door, I´d say it´s an accidental discharge. Not enough info at this point, though....just guessing.

The woman was in her pajamas!!!

I called one time to report that I’d heard something from the house behind me and seen that the sliding door into the side of their living room was open. The house was dark.

I went out when the police arrived. That is not an unusual thing to do. Ill-advised or not.

The officer is Mohammed Noor. College graduate. First Somali officer in this precinct. Which means there are more.

She had walked about 100 yards to where they were at the end of the alley, but it was very well lit.

One wonders what she said to the officer who was driving the car?

Politics is the art of shifting the playing field. This is an art Republicans simply don’t understand. Perhaps it’s because they spend so much time attempting to stop the Democratic snowball from running downhill too quickly, but Republicans in power have an unfortunate tendency to conserve their political capital rather than invest it. That’s unfortunate because political capital doesn’t accrue when you save it; it degrades. Just as sticking your cash in a mattress is a bad strategy when it comes to investment, inaction in power is a bad strategy when it comes to politics. Democrats understand that political capital must
