The Poltroon Party Gets a Reprieve
on Obamacare Repeal

American Spectator, by David Catron

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 7/17/2017 5:11:51 AM

Mitch McConnell no doubt breathed a sigh of relief when John McCain’s surgery gave him an excuse to postpone a vote on the Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA). Now that Senators Rand Paul and Susan Collins have made it abundantly clear that no concession or reasonable argument will persuade them to do the right thing on Obamacare, every remaining GOP Senator has to support BCRA in order to get the bill passed. And it was by no means certain that McConnell had enough votes to accomplish that even with McCain present. Why? The GOP has become the party of poltroons.

The author make some good points; however, the REAL problem is, the republican senators (and reps., as well) are more interested in padding their pockets than doing what is right for the citizens.

Many have not noticed, the game has changed. The game used to be "get as much money as you can, you can overwhelm your opponent". Hilliary spent twice what PDJT did, and lost. Voters care more about what they´re saying, and don´t care what name is more "qualified". They had better learn quickly.

Not sure how I feel about that loaded statement. The right thing on Obamacare is complete repeal which this act does not do.

Todays democrat party is yesterdays communist party. Todays republican party is yesterdays democrat party. So I call todays democrat party the new Soviet Party. And todays republican party the new Democrat Party.

Although their are some constitutional conservatives scattered about, they all have a target on their backs and its ´open season´ by both partys, the media and academia against any and all real conservatives and even some ´perceived´ conservatives.

The constitution is dead, with the current leadership and the progressive republicrats who are allied with their comrades in the new Soviet party. The few constitutional conservatives that there are need our support now, more than ever. And I´m not referring to the fake conservatives that so many people want to associate with ´conservatism´. That is really getting old.

People who voted for 0bama twice don´t give a rat´s petute what happens to the country and richly deserve the consequences for their actions. What the ´polls´ say and what will happen in 2018 should be of no concern.

That´s right, #7, and isn´t it interesting that only Senator Rand Paul is being blasted by some Washington pundits
for declaring he is a No vote. McCain is too and before he got sick, nobody criticized him.

God bless Rand Paul for specifically and thoroughly exposing this phony non-repeal bill. The Republicans pass this turkey and they just put their stamp of approval on the framework of Obamacare forevermore.

During the recent eclipse, NASA urged us all to protect our eyes by turning our backs on the sun itself, observing the eclipse only through pinhole cameras. A similar technique proves remarkably useful in observing the Trump administration. If you ignore the strangely dazzling figure of the president himself, examining instead the second order effects he’s producing, you’ll find that a certain reassuring clarity emerges. To wit: Item: Congress may have thwarted the administration’s effort to replace Obamacare, but wherever the administration has been able to take action on its own it has done just that, demonstrating not incompetence but considerable

For seven years Republicans promised to repeal ObamaCare, and now they have one last chance to deliver. A bill recently introduced by Sens. Lindsey Graham, Bill Cassidy, Dean Heller and Ron Johnson would eliminate some of ObamaCare’s most unpopular provisions and enact reforms that would lower costs, expand choices, promote federal fiscal responsibility, and give power back to states and consumers. Democrats have been unwilling to support any legislation that would roll back parts of ObamaCare, so Republicans have until Sept. 30—the deadline for avoiding a filibuster by using budget reconciliation—to act on their own. The Graham-Cassidy bill’s biggest strength is

Hillary Clinton should have paid more attention to her husband´s former adviser Paul Begala, who once said, "Never interrupt your opponent when he´s destroying himself." And even if the former Democratic nominee resists that strategy, her party might want to insist on it. Because Clinton´s highly publicized and problematic book tour is rescuing President Trump from a political corner into which he had largely painted himself. Trump has had a bumpy month with his base, thanks to some surprise engagements with Democratic leadership and a continuing reshuffle of White House personnel. His core group of populist voters have

Will the real moderate party please stand up? On the same day that socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) introduced his “Medicare for All” health-care plan, Senators Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R., La.) introduced a last-ditch effort to sorta-kinda repeal and replace Obamacare. Despite having zero chance of being passed any time soon, Sanders’s bill grabbed the limelight for two reasons. First, it’s a beacon of hope for the demoralized base. As a Rolling Stone headline put it, “Single-Payer Movement Shows: Life After Trump May Not Suck.” Second, Sanders got 15 co-sponsors — including some

After two previous deadlines came and went, House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes has set a new date for the FBI and Justice Department to turn over documents relating to the Trump dossier. Nunes originally subpoenaed the FBI and Justice on Aug. 24, demanding dossier documents by Sept. 1. When none were produced, Nunes agreed to extend the deadline to September 14. During that time, arrangements were made for intelligence committee investigators to visit the Justice Department to make sure officials on both sides understood precisely which documents the committee seeks.

New GOP ObamaCare

A last-ditch effort by Senate Republicans to repeal and replace ObamaCare is gaining steam, suggesting lawmakers could face another vote on ending the former president’s signature law later this month. Supporters do not have the 50 votes necessary to pass the bill yet, but pressure is growing on Republicans to back the measure, which could replace much of ObamaCare with block grants for states. In a crucial boost for its chances on Monday, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) offered his support. “Congress has 12 days to say ‘yes’ to Graham-Cassidy. It’s time for them to get the job done,” he said, referring to the bill's two

After September 30, Senate Republicans will no longer be able repeal, replace, or otherwise alter Obamacare with a simple majority vote. For all intents and purposes, that means they have exactly 12 days to keep a solemn promise they have repeatedly made to the voters. Beginning in October, any meaningful change to the “Affordable Care Act” will require the cooperation of the Democrats, who have pledged to filibuster any bill that fails to bail out the imploding health care law. That leaves the GOP with one realistic option — pass the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson (GCHJ) bill before the end of the month.

How rudderless is the Democratic Party? Its membership is so bereft of leadership and policy direction that 16 of its senators have signed on to a health care bill sponsored by a self-avowed independent democratic socialist from Vermont. The "Medicare for All Act of 2017" would repeal Obamacare, along with most other private and public insurance, and replace it with a government-run, one-size-fits-all, centrally directed system of reimbursement for medical expenses. As President Trump’s Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity met on Tuesday in New Hampshire to discuss voter fraud, the usual liberal suspects cried wolf. During last year’s election, the president voiced what we know — that voter fraud exists. The only question is to what degree, and that’s the mission of the commission. For anyone who dismisses concerns about voter fraud, the unhinged reaction by the left at investigating it should, at the very least, make a logical person wonder what they’re so concerned about. There is a significant bloc of conservatives who believe that Obamacare was always a gigantic bait-and-switch operation. The advocates of this view have consistently said that Obamacare’s true goal was to wreak so much havoc on the health care system that the voters, the vast majority of whom don’t support single-payer, would eventually become so frustrated by the chaos that they would accept any “solution” that promised to make the pain stop. Once that point was reached, the theory goes, the Democrats would be able to get single-payer through Congress.
