The Coming GOP Electoral ´Health Care´ Disaster
PJ Media, by Michael Walsh

Original Article

It is ironic, but somehow fitting, that the illness of one of the worst men in American political life should be the thing that might save the Republican Party from the ineptitude of its leadership and its own cowardly instincts. I´m referring, of course, to John McCain, a man who´s been in the public eye since his Vietnam captivity in the 1960s and has contributed exactly nothing since to the country he professes to serve.

Not a single Republican voted for OCare. Now not a single Republican will vote to repeal it. All of them want to keep it.

This is a good article to have those relatives/friends read who insist they don´t understand what is up with the Republicans. Walsh is correct. If they do not repeal this disaster, the GOP will suffer at the ballot box in 2018.

My opinion....they should repeal the existing health care bill and go back to the health care system we had before. Even with it´s faults it was probably the best health care system there was on earth. People who could afford insurance were insured and there were programs in place to take care of those who could not. People were not turned away because they could not pay.

The Obama healthcare law was not designed to provide better health care at lower prices. It was designed to put the insurance companies out of business and give the federal government complete control of our medical system. Most of us knew that didn´t we.

We should never let the government make our healthcare a socialized system.

My town is conservative and judging from the scuttle, none of us are happy about holding their noses yet again to vote for Obamacare repeal.

This one could really doom the GOP if fresh, Trump-like candidates run.

So much for representing the people that elected you. They voted against it before they voted for it. They´re blowing it on this and it´s going to cost them dearly down the road. Extreme voter backlash like they can´t imagine.

The news was delivered by the New York Times in the breathless tones that might announce a cure for cancer or the discovery of life on Mars: “President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.” To which a rational response is … who wouldn’t? And also: so, what? A third response is unprintable.

One hundred and fifty-four years ago, the nation was electrified by the news out of Mississippi: after a long siege, the Confederate stronghold of Vicksburg, commanding the heights of the mighty river, had fallen to Ulysses S. Grant. Coming the day after the federal victory at Gettsyburg, it turned the tide of the Civil War and preserved the union for Mr. Lincoln. It was a national birthday present like none other. Gettysburg gets most of the attention, as well it should: the three-day struggle between North and South in a small Pennsylvania town was the greatest battle ever fought on the American continent: bloody,

If you want a visible symbol of all that’s wrong with Washington these days, look no further than the 6-foot-8-inch frame of James B. Comey Jr., whose DC circus act finally closed on Thursday with an unctuous performance before the Senate intelligence committee. Seeking to take down the president of the United States for unceremoniously firing him, the former FBI director succeeded primarily in embarrassing himself and the bureau. Call him the Biggest Loser. But Comey’s not alone.

It was a busy week. But squeezed among Kathy Griffin’s career self-decapitation, President Trump’s Paris climate-accord pullout and the media’s anticipation of James Comey’s upcoming testimony, the really important news got crowded out: the weaponizing of the intelligence agencies against the Obama administration’s political enemies. As part of its investigation into the alleged Russian hacking of the 2016 election, Republicans on the House intelligence committee have subpoenaed records from former CIA Director John Brennan, National Security Adviser Susan Rice and UN Ambassador Samantha Power regarding a different issue: the promiscuous “unmasking” of the names of American citizens in widely disseminated (and

Let’s cut right to the chase: James Comey should have been fired immediately following his disastrous press briefing last July, in which he candidly laid out the case against Hillary Clinton over her mishandling of classified information and then refused to recommend charges. Overstepping his authority while radiating sanctimony, arrogating power while clumsily intervening in the election, Comey deserved to be sacked on the spot.

On Wednesday night, I received a phone call from Anthony Scaramucci, the new White House communications director. He wasn’t happy. Earlier in the night, I’d tweeted, citing a “senior White House official,” that Scaramucci was having dinner at the White House with President Trump, the First Lady, Sean Hannity, and the former Fox News executive Bill Shine. It was an interesting group, and raised some questions. Was Trump getting strategic advice from Hannity? Was he considering hiring Shine? But Scaramucci had his own question—for me. “Who leaked that to you?” he asked. I said I couldn’t give him that information.

The moderator lauded Michelle Obama for her achievements over the past eight years and touched on the former first lady’s plans, but Tuesday’s conversation also veered into uncomfortable territory. It was Obama’s largest public appearance since the 2016 election — speaking in front of more than 8,000 people at the Women’s Foundation of Colorado’s 30th anniversary celebration — and she touched on personal attacks that she faced again and again. Many had the same theme. “The shards that cut me the deepest were the ones that intended to cut,” Obama said, according to the Denver Post. “Knowing that after eight

President Trump responded to the Senate Republican´s inability to pass a skinny version of Obamacare´s repeal the only way he knows how: Twitter. (Tweet) Senate Republicans weren´t able to muster enough votes to pass their skinny repeal of Obamacare. Senators voted 49-51 shortly before 2:00 a.m. Friday morning. Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) cast a surprise "no" vote. He was joined by GOP Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine). The bill, titled the Health Care Freedom Act, would have repealed the individual insurance mandate. It would also have repealed the employer mandate for eight years.

President Donald Trump’s Wednesday announcement on Twitter that transgender men and women will not be allowed to serve in the military “in any capacity” was not a complete surprise: Last month, Defense Secretary James Mattis announced that the military was hitting the pause button on an Obama-era plan to welcome openly transgender people into the military. The Trump administration may soon learn that singling out a class of people for exclusion violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law. Let’s review a few recent developments. Last week, Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, resigned. This was part of a “White House shakeup” to get the Trump administration back on track. The new communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, would fix the White House’s “messaging problem.” Within 24 hours of Scaramucci’s appointment, the president returned to Twitter and unloaded another torrent of political bombshells, including talking about his power to pardon, even as his attorneys were denying that Donald Trump was thinking about pardoning anyone.

President Donald Trump has been attacking his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, daily. There have been brutal attacks on Twitter, in media interviews, and during speeches. Conventional wisdom is that Trump is getting ready to fire Sessions or hoping Sessions resigns. Conventional wisdom also assured everyone that Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide, the only question being by how large a margin. Trump´s complaint is that his attorney general should not have recused himself from the Russia hacking hoax and that he is dragging his feet on long overdue investigations and prosecutions: Deep State leaks; unmasking; DNC and Clinton collusion

NEW YORK — The Boy Scouts’ chief executive apologized Thursday to members of the scouting community who were offended by the aggressive political rhetoric in President Donald Trump’s recent speech to the Scouts’ national jamboree. The apology came in a statement from Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh, three days after Trump’s speech to nearly 40,000 scouts and adults gathered in West Virginia. Other U.S. presidents have delivered nonpolitical speeches at past jamborees. To the dismay of many parents and former scouts, Trump, a Republican, promoted his political agenda and derided his rivals, inducing some of the scouts in attendance to
