The Coming GOP Electoral ´Health Care´ Disaster
PJ Media, by Michael Walsh

Original Article

Posted By:gertrude, 7/17/2017 1:28:35 AM

It is ironic, but somehow fitting, that the illness of one of the worst men in American political life should be the thing that might save the Republican Party from the ineptitude of its leadership and its own cowardly instincts. I´m referring, of course, to John McCain, a man who´s been in the public eye since his Vietnam captivity in the 1960s and has contributed exactly nothing since to the country he professes to serve.

Not a single Republican voted for OCare. Now not a single Republican will vote to repeal it. All of them want to keep it.

This is a good article to have those relatives/friends read who insist they don´t understand what is up with the Republicans. Walsh is correct. If they do not repeal this disaster, the GOP will suffer at the ballot box in 2018.

My opinion....they should repeal the existing health care bill and go back to the health care system we had before. Even with it´s faults it was probably the best health care system there was on earth. People who could afford insurance were insured and there were programs in place to take care of those who could not. People were not turned away because they could not pay.

The Obama healthcare law was not designed to provide better health care at lower prices. It was designed to put the insurance companies out of business and give the federal government complete control of our medical system. Most of us knew that didn´t we.

We should never let the government make our healthcare a socialized system.

This one could really doom the GOP if fresh, Trump-like candidates run.

Call it the Battle of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. On one side: the perpetually aggrieved White House press corps, whose members sit atop journalism’s pinnacle and yet are herded like cattle, made to stand behind rope lines and are generally treated with disdain by those they report on. Like fantasy-league baseball players, they’re convinced they can run the country better than the officials they so resentfully cover. On the other: a beleaguered, media-conscious president...

The news has just broken that Vladimir Putin will expel 755 American diplomats -- or "diplomats," depending on whether they´re working for the State Department or some other, er, agencies -- in retaliation for the latest round of American sanctions imposed by a panicked Congress being stampeded into increasingly foolish actions by the resentful Democrats and their allies in the Compromised Media. This is a toxic brew that can have no good outcome, but the short version is: we´ve just been neutralized in Russia.

The news was delivered by the New York Times in the breathless tones that might announce a cure for cancer or the discovery of life on Mars: “President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.” To which a rational response is … who wouldn’t? One hundred and fifty-four years ago, the nation was electrified by the news out of Mississippi: after a long siege, the Confederate stronghold of Vicksburg, commanding the heights of the mighty river, had fallen to Ulysses S. Grant. Coming the day after the federal victory at Gettsyburg, it turned the tide of the Civil War and preserved the union for Mr. Lincoln. It was a national birthday present like none other. Gettysburg gets most of the attention, as well it should: the three-day struggle between North and South in a small Pennsylvania town was the greatest battle ever fought on the American continent: bloody,

If you want a visible symbol of all that’s wrong with Washington these days, look no further than the 6-foot-8-inch frame of James B. Comey Jr., whose DC circus act finally closed on Thursday with an unctuous performance before the Senate intelligence committee. Seeking to take down the president of the United States for unceremoniously firing him, the former FBI director succeeded primarily in embarrassing himself and the bureau. Call him the Biggest Loser. But Comey’s not alone.

It was a busy week. But squeezed among Kathy Griffin’s career self-decapitation, President Trump’s Paris climate-accord pullout and the media’s anticipation of James Comey’s upcoming testimony, the really important news got crowded out: the weaponizing of the intelligence agencies against the Obama administration’s political enemies. As part of its investigation into the alleged Russian hacking of the 2016 election, Republicans on the House intelligence committee have subpoenaed records from former CIA Director John Brennan, National Security Adviser Susan Rice and UN Ambassador Samantha Power regarding a different issue: the promiscuous “unmasking” of the names of American citizens in widely disseminated (and

Let’s cut right to the chase: James Comey should have been fired immediately following his disastrous press briefing last July, in which he candidly laid out the case against Hillary Clinton over her mishandling of classified information and then refused to recommend charges. Overstepping his authority while radiating sanctimony, arrogating power while clumsily intervening in the election, Comey deserved to be sacked on the spot.

President Trump should have left well enough alone. His Monday denunciation of costumed sheet-wearers and Nazi wanna-bes could have cleared the way for Americans of all stripes to focus their outrage on things that matter more than presidential words. That would be the violence that is infecting our politics and the frightening acceptance of it as the new normal.
