The Catholic Church is a boat “on the verge of capsizing,” said Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in a personal message for the funeral Mass of his close friend, Cardinal Joachim Meisner on Saturday. Given his inability to travel, the usually silent retired Pope delivered the message in writing, and had it read aloud in the Cologne Cathedral by his personal secretary, Archbishop Georg Gänswein, who also serves as Prefect of the Papal Household for Pope Francis. In the text, Benedict said that Cardinal Meisner “found it difficult to leave his post, especially at a time in which the Church stands in particularly
Comments: Article goes on to talk about Meisner’s having been one of four cardinals who submitted a list of questions, “dubia”, to the Pope regarding various doctrinal doubts. They received no reply.
Notably, Cardinal Meisner was one of the four cardinals who presented a series of questions, or “dubia,” to Pope Francis last September, asking him to clarify five serious doctrinal doubts proceeding from his 2016 apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love) concerning Holy Communion for the divorced and remarried, the indissolubility of marriage, and the proper role of conscience.
When the Pope failed to respond, the cardinals published their questions.
From the days of the Crusades, the Church had iron teeth to defend against any onslaught by the Islamic hordes up to the Battle of Vienna. Nowadays, it lost its teeth and has only gums. Politically speaking, what use is the Church today? Morally and spiritually? It has little chance to survive, given the ideology of the leftist Argentinian pope.
I quit trying to keep up with the endless changes since the end of having the Latin Mass. These days I quietly pray the Mass from my old Father Stedman Missal. That´s where I started and that´s where I will end. I am not happy with this pope. There is so much infighting at the Vatican that it makes me wonder where the church is headed.
The Catholic Church has been infected by leftist secularist thinking for decades, and now has fully abandoned any interest in eternal truth, replacing it with Marxist pseudo-theology. Traditional Catholics need to put an end to the socialist rot that has overtaken their leadership.
In my diocese, 10 men were ordained this spring. We have 10 more to be ordained next spring. In my parish, our young priest says the Latin Mass weekly. He also faces the altar at the Novus Ordo Mass on Sunday evenings. Our Catholic schools are full and thriving thanks to tithing paying for K-8. Often it is in the trenches that one has to see how well the soldiers are doing, not in some general´s comfy war room.
I am not Catholic, but I have a lot of very devout Catholic friends. They are all gravely concerned about the path the current pope is trying to take their church. The recent attack on conservative Catholics in the US by some Jesuit nutcase really angered them!!!
The Catholic Church is almost 2,000 years old. I don´t think it is going to fail. But it is going to need a serious change of leadership if it isn´t going to shatter into 2 churches (the traditional Catholic Christian Church, and the looney tunes Catholic church of whatever lie-beral lunacy floats your boat)...
Thank you to all the above faithful Catholics in defense of Holy Mother Church. Christ has NEVER, nor will He ever abandon His Church on earth. He promised Peter, and the Apostles that He would remain with His Church until the end of time, and the "Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it." Our Lord doesn´t lie. We just need to keep praying despite the appearance at the Vatican during the reign of the current pontiff. NO, Francis is not the last pope. Amen to that.
Just finished watching "A wolf in Sheep´s Clothing" on EWTN. It´s about Alinsky and how he conned the Church in America, getting millions for his Social Justice Community Organizing. The documentary featured the writings of many Communists, socialists, progressives and an actor portraying Alinsky giving several monologues spouting his twisted ideology. The following describes the testimony of Bella Dodd (an ex-communist who returned to the Church with the guidance of Bishop Sheen):
-Perhaps most frightening of all was her testimony that during her time in the Party, “more than eleven hundred men had been put into the priesthood to destroy the Church from within,” the idea here being that these men would be ordained to the priesthood and progress to positions of influence and authority as monsignors and even bishops. She stated that “right now they are in the highest places in the Church” where they were working to weaken the Church’s effectiveness against Communism. These changes, she declared, would be so drastic that “you will not recognize the Catholic Church.”
How many of those 1100 mentored Jorge Mario Bergoglio?
Interesting observations in #15. The priest always faced the altar, though. What changed in the ´Novus Ordo´ after the Second Vatican Council was the location of the altar in the Sanctuary (from the back wall to the front, where the priest can face both the altar and the assembly at the same time, in the style of the Last Supper).
Raised Catholic. Gotta go with Ann Barnhardt on all of this. My former boss, devout Latin Mass only. Took him as Governor to the 2 places where full Latin Mass was offered. It is down to to one. Novus Ordus crap otherwise.
James A. Baker, who serves as the FBI‘s General Counsel, is reportedly one of three people who can corroborate fired FBI Director James Comey‘s version of events in a private Oval Office meeting between Comey and President Donald Trump. Comey wrote in a memo that Trump told him to stop the federal investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. On July 26, Circa reported that Baker is under investigation for allegedly leaking classified information to the press. Three sources told Circa that Baker is the top suspect in the investigation, but the site couldn’t confirm exactly what information Baker
House Republicans are poised to fund $1.6 billion for President Donald Trump´s border wall through a procedural maneuver designed to avoid a floor vote that might fail. The House Rules Committee is expected to attach funding for the wall that Trump has proposed building along the Mexican border to the so-called minibus, a downsized spending package for the Pentagon, the Energy Department, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the legislative branch — but not DHS, the Cabinet agency responsible for the wall. If an amendment to fund the wall is adopted by the Rules Committee, this line item can circumvent
Currently, the historian Thucydides is the object of debate among those within the Trump Administration and its critics, who, like scholars of the last three millennia, focus on lots of differing Thucydidean personas. Did Thucydides warn in deterministic fashion about ascendant powers like Athens that disrupt the existing order of Sparta and its Peloponnesian League—and thus prompt preventive attacks from established nations (“the Thucydides trap”)? Is the historian thus a guide to how to handle a rising China? Or did he remind us how wrong-headed (but nonetheless free and correctable) choices can turn a tense situation into a catastrophe? Was Thucydides, an admiral
White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon is reportedly upending traditional right/left divides on tax policy and pushing for a populist tax reform. Bannon’s plan would cut taxes on the middle classes but impose a new 44 percent top tax rate for the very rich — and it’s an idea that seems to have caught President Trump’s imagination. The current top tax rate is 39.6 percent and any Republican tax plan originating from the GOP House leadership would likely include deep tax cuts across the board, including for the very rich. A plan introduced by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and National Economic Director
White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci repeated that he and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus were like brothers, but warned that it was still unclear whether or not they would get along in the White House. “Some brothers are like Cain and Abel, other brothers can fight with each other and get along, I don’t know if this is repairable or not,” Scaramucci said on CNN’s New Day on Thursday morning. Scaramucci explained comments he made on Twitter on Wednesday night, after citing Priebus in a tweet about leakers. After Politico reported on Scaramucci’s public disclosure form, he suggested that
These Republicans. Has there ever been a more disloyal, spineless, leaderless bunch? The Democrats are insane of course – but at least they are fully devoted to their own madness. Republicans prefer a more two-faced approach, promising many things while doing none of them. The latest exhibit to be added to the long list of Republican broken promises is border security. Republicans are now running from the Trump “build that wall” promise that was critical in his winning the 2016 Election. So many Republicans are failing to follow up on this promise (they’ve been making it to voters for more than
Disregard the blue jeans and open collar shirt. This is former CIA Director John Brennan (who no doubt maintains very high-level contacts throughout the Deep State machine) attempting to make acceptable the premise of a coup against a sitting president. Don’t forget, it was Brennan who was caught lying about the Deep State’s massive data collection program on private citizens. He lied to Congress without penalty. That is the arrogance of Deep State masters. They feel themselves superior to the laws of of this nation. They maintain authority and control regardless of who is or isn’t inside the White House.
The press was on President Trump´s case for dumping on Jeff Sessions, speaking to the Boy Scouts, and banning the gender confused from the military. What was the clutch the pearls drama last week? Oh yeah, his son and his son-in-law met a ROOSHAN in Trump Tower. Wow. I want you to do yourself a favor. Bookmark this post, because the press will continue to report stupid stuff. It will depress you from time to time. The Republican senators will dump on him. Reports will say there is turmoil in the and White House. And polls will show only 20% job approval.
Chuck Schumer just warned President Trump not to appoint a replacement for Jeff Sessions as attorney general. Schumer said: "I am not confident in Senator Sessions’ ability to be a defender of the rights of all Americans, or to serve as an independent check on the incoming administration." Oh wait, that was what Schumer said in February when he voted against Jeff Sessions as attorney general.Just as he went from demanding the firing of Jim Comey as FBI director to anger over the firing, Schumer suddenly is the best friend of Jeff Sessions. This is Trumphobia. It drives small minds
Many opinions are visible on the subject of President Trump questioning the focus and competency of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. With that in mind perhaps it’s worthwhile pointing out a simple example of internal DOJ corruption that AG Sessions is intentionally avoiding. In October 2015 the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced it was dropping the investigation into the IRS, Lois Lerner, and the unlawful sharing of taxpayer data in the IRS targeting investigation surrounding True The Vote et al. The decision was laughable. The DOJ dropped an investigation into illegal activity conducted by the DOJ? Oh, ok.. As a direct consequence
Imran Awan, the Pakistan-born IT vendor to several top House Democrats under investigation since February, was arrested allegedly trying to flee the United States Tuesday. Some of the most important facts about this developing and potentially massive story: 1. Awan has been a staffer for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and other top congressional Democrats since 2004: UPI reports more than 24 different Democratic House offices used Awan’s services. Awan’s time with Wasserman Schultz included her entire tenure as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. Estimates are that Awan and his family received more than $4 million from House Democrats Link repaired
Momentum for a “skinny” ObamaCare repeal bill is growing in the Senate as one by one other measures to reform the nation’s healthcare law fall by the wayside. Legislation to repeal ObamaCare with a two-year delay only secured 45 votes on Wednesday, a day after a repeal-and- replace bill won just 43 votes in a procedural motion. Those tallies suggest Senate Republicans may have to narrow their goals to win 51 votes for legislation in the face of unified Democratic opposition. Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), the No. 2 Senate Republican, told reporters Wednesday that a scaled-down bill might be the best way to
The moderator lauded Michelle Obama for her achievements over the past eight years and touched on the former first lady’s plans, but Tuesday’s conversation also veered into uncomfortable territory. It was Obama’s largest public appearance since the 2016 election — speaking in front of more than 8,000 people at the Women’s Foundation of Colorado’s 30th anniversary celebration — and she touched on personal attacks that she faced again and again. Many had the same theme. “The shards that cut me the deepest were the ones that intended to cut,” Obama said, according to the Denver Post. “Knowing that after eight
When President Trump made his initial remarks reflecting disappointment in Attorney General Jeff Sessions it was initially unnerving. The subsequent fallout from the public criticism has united the NeverTrump crowd, Cruzbots and professionally GOPe, to defend the honor of the much beloved former Senator. The opportunity to bash Trump is simply an ancillary benefit. Conversely, the MAGA community has largely portrayed the rift as if the Presidential critique was part of a larger strategy between the President and Attorney General. If we wait long enough some mysterious master plan will eventually to be discovered. However, the subsequent POTUS tweets and comments do
Hillary Clinton is to call her new memoir about being beaten by Donald Trump ´What Happened´, her publisher announced Thursday. Her photograph will not feature on the cover - and she will call herself Hillary Rodham Clinton. She ran as Hillary Clinton. The memoir, published by Simon & Schuster promises to deliver the story of her defeat ´now free from the constraints of politics´. It will finally break the pattern of months by containing details of her ´mistakes´ - but firmly blame James Comey and the Russians. One friend of Clinton told The Hill it would be a ´bombshell´. The
At the end of a Senate subcommittee hearing on Tuesday morning, someone sitting near Chairman Susan Collins (R-Maine) didn’t switch off a microphone. Collins was recorded discussing the federal budget and President Trump’s lack of familiarity with the details of governing with a colleague — apparently Sen. Jack Reed (R.I.), the ranking Democrat on the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies subcommittee.
A transgender former Navy SEAL has spoken out against President Trump’s ban on transgender military members, saying he is preventing soldiers from doing their service. “Let´s meet face to face and you tell me I´m not worthy,” Kristin Beck, a retired SEAL Team 6 member who has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, told Business Insider. Beck was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal during her time in the service, when she kept her gender identity a secret, according to a 2015 profile in GQ. The President said that transgender service in the military causes
Former House IT staffer Imran Awan was arrested Monday night at Dulles International Airport where he was "trying to leave the country," Fox news reported Tuesday evening. Following his arrest for bank fraud, Awan was finally fired by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla. (Snip) Imran and his Pakistani-born brothers, Abid and Jamal Awan, are currently under criminal investigation by U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI on suspicion that they accessed congressional computers without permission and stole equipment. There is also evidence of "financial schemes that extend beyond the Capitol Police’s purview and may expand to Pakistan," according to The Daily
Let’s review a few recent developments. Last week, Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, resigned. This was part of a “White House shakeup” to get the Trump administration back on track. The new communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, would fix the White House’s “messaging problem.” Within 24 hours of Scaramucci’s appointment, the president returned to Twitter and unloaded another torrent of political bombshells, including talking about his power to pardon, even as his attorneys were denying that Donald Trump was thinking about pardoning anyone.
President Donald Trump’s Wednesday announcement on Twitter that transgender men and women will not be allowed to serve in the military “in any capacity” was not a complete surprise: Last month, Defense Secretary James Mattis announced that the military was hitting the pause button on an Obama-era plan to welcome openly transgender people into the military. But the announcement was a legal land mine. The Trump administration may soon learn that singling out a class of people for exclusion violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law. And as to those transgender soldiers already serving openly, any effort
President Donald Trump has been attacking his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, daily. There have been brutal attacks on Twitter, in media interviews, and during speeches. Conventional wisdom is that Trump is getting ready to fire Sessions or hoping Sessions resigns. Conventional wisdom also assured everyone that Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide, the only question being by how large a margin. Trump´s complaint is that his attorney general should not have recused himself from the Russia hacking hoax and that he is dragging his feet on long overdue investigations and prosecutions: Deep State leaks; unmasking; DNC and Clinton collusion
President Donald Trump’s dramatic decision to exclude so-called “transgender” people from the military is a direct rejection of the progressives’ revolutionary demand that Americans’ society should be remade to eliminate all civic recognition of the two different-and-complementary male and female sexes. (Tweets) The Wednesday decision was greeted with anger from the left, which had hoped that the military’s 2016 endorsement of the transgender ideology would push the Supreme Court and legislators nationwide to impose and establish the unpopular claim that a person’s changeable choice of “gender” is more legally important than their biological sex. If endorsed by the courts, that
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) today warned President Trump against firing either Attorney General Jeff Sessions or special counsel Robert Mueller, saying he plans to introduce bipartisan judicial review legislation to protect the former FBI director and future special counsels. Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill that he´s "100 percent behind Jeff Sessions," who´s been the target of various slings from Trump over the past week, and referred to a Wednesday tweet from Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa): Everybody in D.C. Shld b warned that the agenda for the judiciary Comm is set for rest of 2017. Judges first
Senator John McCain fired away at Donald Trump´s decision to ban transgender people from military service – and also for announcing a 180 degree turn on a complex issue via Twitter. The Senate Armed Services Committee chairman said in a statement that the military should welcome capable people ´regardless of their gender identity.´ He made the statement hours after his own dramatic return to the Senate for an Obamacare repeal vote, after getting a brain cancer diagnosis. Trump praised the former Vietnam POW for his action, although he went after McCain´s time as a POW during the campaign.
