using an accomplice’s truck

Fugitive Eastern Kentucky lawyer Eric Conn used a truck owned by an accomplice to escape sentencing in his federal fraud case, showing up with a shaved head a few days later at a Walmart and a convenience store in New Mexico, the FBI said Friday. The FBI released photos Friday of Conn taken at the two locations in order to show his current appearance. The truck Conn used was registered to a dummy company in Montana, the FBI said in a news release. The release said the accomplice provided Conn with other materials to help him escape. It did not provide details. Agents

Not overseas but in New Mexico! He ditched the pick-up. Shaved his head. He bought a bike? They don´t think he crossed the border.

With the stuff he was facing, it was an idiotic move to allow him "house arrest" or some kind of "monitored release" from jail. After he verdict, everyone knew he was a crook and a swindler. People like him belong in jail. You can always give them credit for time served at the back end of their prison sentence.

New Mexico? That not the land of Enchantment. It is called by criminals, the "Land of Entrapment" that´s because most New Mexico communities are small. Even Santa Fe is tiny. Albuquerque is large, but, it is also broken up into several smaller communities. Everyone knows everyone else. And, the long distances between communities make illicit travel dangerous for criminals. Lots of two lane roads, with no place to go. Criminals have told me, they wished they had never entered New Mexico...there is really no place to hide. (For those who do not know me, I was a New Mexico Correctional officer for 11 years in New Mexico.)

Turkey announced the dismissal of another 7,000 police, soldiers and officials on Friday, a new purge on the eve of the one-year anniversary of a military-led coup that failed to topple President Tayyip Erdogan. July 15 has been declared an annual national holiday of "democracy and unity" and the authorities want people to see the foiling of the putsch as a historic victory of Turkish democracy. Friday´s measures, however, mean that 50,000 people have been arrested and a further 100,000 sacked in response to the thwarted bid to overthrow Erdogan. Some 7,563 people were fired in the latest cull, the state-run Anadolu news

In 2014, when waves of refugees began flooding into western Europe, citizens and officials alike responded with generosity and openness. Exhausted refugees spilled out of trains and buses to be met by crowds bearing gifts of clothing and food, and holding up placards that read “Welcome Refugees.” This was a honeymoon that could not last. [SKIP] But there was one development that had not been expected, and was not tolerable: the large and growing incidence of sexual assaults committed by refugees against local women. These were not of the cultural-misunderstanding-date-rape sort, but were vicious, no-preamble attacks on random girls and women,

The Wall Street Journal and Buzzfeed are both reporting that Judge Janice Rogers Brown will retire from active service on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. This decision will create a vacancy on the 11-member court and an opportunity for President Trump to nominate someone to this important court. Brown has sat on the D.C. US President Donald Trump delivered a speech in Warsaw today ahead of the G20 summit in Hamburg, a meeting of the leaders of the world’s top economies. At Krasinski Square near a monument to the Warsaw Uprising, Trump touched on many of his common themes. Here are the main highlights: Trump promised a commitment to trade with Poland, specifically in the energy sector. Why it matters: Poland is eager to reduce its reliance on Russia, from whom it buys nearly half of its natural gas. The US president praised “the triumph of the Polish spirit over centuries of hardship,” citing the occupation

On Wednesday night, I received a phone call from Anthony Scaramucci, the new White House communications director. He wasn’t happy. Earlier in the night, I’d tweeted, citing a “senior White House official,” that Scaramucci was having dinner at the White House with President Trump, the First Lady, Sean Hannity, and the former Fox News executive Bill Shine. It was an interesting group, and raised some questions. Was Trump getting strategic advice from Hannity? Was he considering hiring Shine? But Scaramucci had his own question—for me. “Who leaked that to you?” he asked. I said I couldn’t give him that information.

President Donald Trump has been attacking his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, daily. There have been brutal attacks on Twitter, in media interviews, and during speeches. Conventional wisdom is that Trump is getting ready to fire Sessions or hoping Sessions resigns. Conventional wisdom also assured everyone that Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide, the only question being by how large a margin. Trump´s complaint is that his attorney general should not have recused himself from the Russia hacking hoax and that he is dragging his feet on long overdue investigations and prosecutions: Deep State leaks; unmasking; DNC and Clinton collusion
