College student dies after
mysterious incident at pool in Mexico

New York Daily News, by David Boroff

A Wisconsin family is still searching for answers six months after a 20-year-old woman suffered a mysterious fatal injury in a swimming pool in Mexico. Abbey Conner, 20, and her older brother Austin were both found face down in the pool at the Iberostar Paraiso del Mar resort just hours after arriving, despite the fact that they were strong swimmers. (Snip) Austin, who is 6-foot-2, told the Journal Sentinel that he and his sister had four or five tequila shots. He said they also did a shot with a group of guys at the bar, and did not know what

Comments:
Tragic death. But she downed ´4 or 5´ tequila shots plus one more with a group of guys in a short period of time. Not so mysterious.

Stopped reading at "after four or five tequila shots".....

Life is all about choices, and that is a seriously, in this case, fatally, stupid choice. especially for a woman. The 6´2" guy lived - purely on body mass, no doubt. The smaller female, smaller body mass, you do the math.

While everyone is hysterical over opioids (as they should be) we had better get a grip about the alcohol abuse that goes on in this country. Alcohol killed my father, his sister and their parents. It can kill you quick like this young foolish woman or it can drain you year after year until your body can no longer deal with it. I am sorry she passed the way she did but I am wondering if the parents are simply in denial. They cannot handle the thought of their daughter getting stone drunk and dying in an accident she was culpable in.

With a BAC of .25, she did a lot more than "4 or 5 shots" no matter what her brother claimed. Nobody drugged their drinks; they just passed out in the pool. Dumb stunts can be deadly.

#4, no expert here, I quit drinking decades ago, but I found a BAC calculator online, may be accurate, who knows? With weight of 100 lbs, and drinking time of 1 hour, it took 6 shots of hard liquor to get to a female to .25 BAC.

So, you maybe right. No idea what her weight was, but a majority of American females no longer weigh even close to 100 lbs these days.

If she weighed 150 lbs, calculator says it would take 9 shots., at 175 lbs, 10 shots gets to 0.24 BAC.

That is an insane amount of shots for anyone.

It takes a while for alcohol to absorb into your bloodstream so when young adults down shots, they may have too much in their stomachs before they even realize it. Shots are foolish. Guzzling anything is foolish. And young women have got to stop drinking like men. I am glad that this family didn´t lose both their children.

After reading about this yesterday, I starting doing some research on Americans killed/dying in Mexican Resort areas. It´s rather shocking. The corruption with the police, hospitals, doctors is insane. After reading what the goes down while in that country, I will never visit there again.

Great comments all. So sorry #3 for your losses; has to be painful for you to post it, thank you.

I will not avoid Mexico (I like the place) because of this, the same way I would not count out Aruba because Natalie Holloway suffered a nasty death. I am so sorry for the parents to have so much suffering because their children were irresponsible, and the parents have to be looking at themselves, I hope. I will avoid neither country because somebody drank too much at a most inappropriate time.

One day young people who make it through unharmed will understand that there were many occasions when they could have made many mistakes. Lucky. Those young people as parents will be watchful of their offspring.

While promoting her newly released memoir, Hillary Clinton has placed blame on several factors for her loss to Donald Trump last November — from her own mistakes, to Russian interference in the U.S. election, and the late intervention by then-FBI director James Comey. But Clinton has also spoken candidly about how deep-rooted sexism played a hand in her defeat, and about the double standards she faced as the first woman nominated by a major party for president in America’s 240-year history. In an interview with the New York Times published Saturday, Clinton spoke further about how misogyny is used as

Clinton, in the interview with CNN´s Anderson Cooper, displayed her animus for fired FBI Director James Comey, reflected on her love for the people -- namely former President Bill Clinton -- who helped her get through the crushing loss and blasted the arcane election body that she believes helped Donald Trump win the presidency. After months of denials, the pretext for Susan Rice’s eavesdropping on Trump officials has finally been made public. It had been widely known that Obama’s former National Security Adviser had contrived to unmask the names of top Trump officials who had been spied on by the administration. And the same media that still treats Watergate as the Great American Scandal had claimed that there was nothing “improper” in an Obama loyalist eavesdropping on members of the opposition party. Almost no commentator, no reviewer, has mentioned the most newsworthy fact about Hillary Clinton´s latest memoir—which is the near total lack of anything actually newsworthy in the book. With What Happened, Clinton would at last "let down her hair," Simon & Schuster´s publicists loudly proclaimed before the book´s publication. And that was the line dutifully repeated by reporter after reporter, as though it were a fact. As though, coming from Clinton´s people, it didn´t need to be checked or reported with even the slight distancing of "Hillary Clinton says she´s let down her hair in her new book." But then,
