Feminist geographers encourage colleagues
not to cite research of white men

Two feminist geographers are encouraging their colleagues to be more mindful about citing the research of white males because doing so contributes to “the reproduction of white heteromasculinity of geographical thought and scholarship.” Writing in “Gender, Place & Culture: A Journal of Feminist Geography,” Carrie Mott and Daniel Cockayne argue that considering an author’s gender, race or sexuality prior to citation can be an effective “feminist and anti-racist technology of resistance that demonstrates engagement with those authors and voices we want to carry forward.” The authors point out that whether an academic’s research is cited by his peers has significant

So instead of focusing on how relevant a particular research is before citing it, we now have to know the the gender, race, and sexual preferences/deviancy of the authors. If this what "scholarship" means in the 21st century no wonder recent College graduates are so shocking stupid.....

Sorry, I won´t read anything by Daniel Cockayne, because he looks pretty White to me, and it would only serve to reproduce white heteromasculinity of geographical thought and scholarship.

Ms. Mott told Campus Reform that "white men tend to be cited in much higher numbers than people from other backgrounds." Perhaps that´s because they do real research, instead of wasting their time obsessing about race, gender, or being gay. I don´t believe research journals waste their time determining the race of the author before publishing.

Is geography different for those who are feminists or gay? If it is a paper on human geography, such as urban or cultural geography, I suppose it could be, but it often seems to be a warped view of the world.

Nothing new here.
Back at my state university, if I wanted to gain approval for a new course, I had to include, among other things, an annotated bibliography to include women and minority authors.
Thw women part was easy, but tracking down the race of someone named Smith or Jones was sometimes impossible.
I retired in 2001, but imagine that including homosexual, lesbian, bisexual authors is now a requirement, along with trannys.

The Treasury Department is ending an ineffective Obama program that promised to help millions of Americans save for retirement, the government announced Friday. Treasury announced the myRA program would be phased out, after costing taxpayers $70 million though few Americans used the program. Former president Barack Obama used his 2014 State of the Union address to launch the myRA program, with a promise to "help millions" to save for retirement. Two years later, only 20,000 had signed up. "The myRA program was created to help low to middle income earners start saving for retirement," said Jovita Carranza, U.S. Treasurer. Robert Mueller’s appointment as special counsel of the Russia election interference probe presents an opportunity for the FBI to inspect the Democratic Party computers that U.S. intelligence concluded were penetrated by Kremlin-directed hackers, cybersecurity analysts say.
