President Trump has been blasted for requesting sensitive voter data as 41 states ruled out handing the information over. So far just three states - Colorado, Tennessee and Missouri - have agreed, while three more are considering it and another three say they have not received the request. Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh was particularly scathing in his refusal, calling the request illegal and ´repugnant´. Brian Frosh, the Maryland Attorney General, said the request was ´designed only to intimidate voters and indulge President Trump´s fantasy that he won the popular vote´ In a statement, Mr Frosh said the request was ´designed only to
But the Democrats must be eager to look at the Russian interference with these voter records, aren´t they? I audited for decades, and when they refuse to even show you the records, there is a very big reason.
There is no need for a federal oversight and gathering of state voter rolls, voter information and voters´ voting records. Give the states a deadline for cleaning up their rolls and punish those who fail to meet the requirements. I have a real suspicion about how a nationwide database of everything pertaining to those who are voting would be used. It would be available to not only those we might trust but to those who don´t deserve our respect. It´s a terrible idea.
It is a federal election. There is voter fraud in the federal election. To fix it, the federal government needs the data. For those of you wringing your hands over this, you are the problem. We can not allow states like California to hide this information from the federal government.
If states do not wish to comply, there are 3 options to access data. 1. Buy it. I believe all states sell this data. 2. Withhold federal funds until the request is met. 3. Buy it, deduct the cost from federal funds distributed.
It´s pretty clear that the Democrats are hiding what a lot of people figure is massive voter fraud. There are tens of millions of non-citizens living in the USA these days, both in illegal and legal status. Over the years the Democrats have made it very easy for non-citizens to register to vote and to fraudulently vote. A prime example are the Clinton era Motor-Voter laws that provide that a US driver´s license holder can register to vote no questions asked in that local voter registrars under provisions of the Motor-Voter laws are prohibited from verifying the citizenship of anyone who shows up to register to vote or who registers by mail. Those laws essentially made the voter registration procedures in all the States honor systems. The vast majority of non-citizens today in the USA hold US driver´s licenses either in their true name or an alias and California has reported that they have issued over a million driver´s licenses to known illegal aliens, other States are also doing so. A couple of weeks before the election Barack Obama appeared on Spanish language TV and essentially told the audience that if they "considered" themselves to be "citizens" that they should vote for Hillary Clinton and that after she won that nobody would check them out and deport them for doing so. Listening to Obama you would have to be a moron to believe that he was not encouraging non-citizens to fraudulently vote. If the Democrats have nothing to hide when it comes to voter fraud why would they not cooperate with the Presidential Commission?
The right to vote is our sacred right and our only protection against tyranny. We need an all out effort to validate every ballot and to ingrain in every citizen their need to protect their God given rights.
#11, technically, it is not a federal election, in voting for president, House, and Senate. Those offices are filled by state elections.
After the 2000 presidential election, Geporge Soros invested time and money to elect State secretaries of state. Those people are responsible for elections.
Refusing to provide public infromation seems silly to me. Do it, and if there are problems, fix them. Snow birds, with dual voter registrations in NY and Florida exist. I have seen estimates if up to 100,000 of these. That practice should end tomorrow. I posted last week about a medical appointment at a local hospital. I had to provide my fingerprint for identification. Why not the same for voting?
The Constitution gives the States the right to determine the manner in which its citizen may choose a President. One caveat - it must not violate any provision or protection of the US Constitution such as Equal Protection etc. It could be argued that letting non-citizens vote, intentionally or not is such a violation.
Clearly there are people who vote that should not - whether they are illegal aliens or felons or whatever. So then the question is what´s the magnitude of the fraud? Me thinks we should start out with about 5 states - start the legal process to sue and get this information - and take it from there...
If there is no voter ID required to vote, then how would you prove fraud? How would anyone know someone voted ten times or voted across state lines or simply sat down in their living room and filled out 400 fake absentee ballots and mailed them?
The way to do it is to advertise "$5000.00 reward for tips leading to the successful prosecution of anyone who is fraudulently voting." Enhance Federal Voter Fraud investigations units to follow up on the tips and then viciously prosecute the people - no matter who they are- who not only vote fraudulently, but who aid and abet them- Unions, Democrats, Republicans, Mommies, Grannies- anyone. And make Federal voter fraud laws that carry heavy fines and jail time. All you would need do is create the feeling that voter fraud is not a safe thing to do and about 90% of it would stop almost immediately.
The reason it happens is because there is practically no chance of being prosecuted for it even if you are caught red handed.
Unions keep a tally of its members who vote. The union members will even drive to a fellow members house and take a person to the poles to vote. And there is info available at every polling place that lists who has voted. It´s in plain site for everyone to see. So what´s the big secret here. now that the government wants states to comply with info it´s all of a sudden not right. Come on people. It´s all about Dems hiding voter fraud.
Just more evidence of the growing anarchy and corruption in our nation. Agencies believing they are a law unto themselves. States refusing to comply with federal requests (but willingly accepting federal $$$). News agencies...well we know all about them. 24/7 lies.
If this is public information in all the states, and they are able to sell it, I’d love to see an explanation of where the danger is in the fed’s having it “centralized”.
Obama insured that the fed had our medical records = where do some think that data that goes into the doctor’s laptop goes? Those reports that are filled out that are intended to determine if a person is suicidal and now ask if there is a gun in the household? (The ones that show in tiny print that the form is a government form.)
The federal government already has everything about us through the IRA and our social security. I believe the request for this is to expose all the fraud, not get some bigger power over us. If Obama wanted all this information I would be worried. I do see how this could be used against people in the wrong hands. But these types already seem to have our info in each state and do use it already.
Privacy? Abuse of power? LOL!! That horse left the barn a long time ago.
Is there not a 17 football fields long data collection center in Utah?
From Wikipedia(I know, I know), re Utah Data Center: "The data center is alleged to be able to process "all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Internet searches, as well as all types of personal data trails—parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital ´pocket litter´.""
There has been documented voter fraud going back decades. Both parties, all levels of government. We would probably be surprised at the extent of it. Anyone remember Acorn? Any AG proclaiming there is no voter fraud is lying.
When I registered as a Republican, I got all sorts of mailings asking for donations. Privacy was compromised long ago.
Our ruling establishment is trying to cover up voter fraud. I expect the states to find a way to provide the information asked for.
The overwhelmingly Dem legislature recently unleashed the otherwise toothless state attorney general to do exactly this sort of thing. It´s the Maryland way. Frosh is a crazy, and likely, like so many others here, is looking at Hogan´s gubernatorial seat. In the meantime, Hogan is a Republicrat squish hoping a dollop of "progressive conservatism" is enough to keep him in office. It´s the best Republicans can do in this soon-to-be minority-majority state.
What should happen is for the DOJ to make an official visit to each of the 50 States, Secretary of State office and demand to see their voting policies laid out, along with the safeguards put in place each election to ensure voter fraud does not take place. Once the Sec of State lays that out then the DOJ Attorney should make them sign a statement to that effect to put the fear of God into them to not miss one iota of those details in 2018.
I fail to see how verifying that a citizen is eligible to vote would in any way "intimidate" them. Just the opposite. When government certifies that you meet all legal requirements for some action, it encourages you to proceed without fear of consequences.
Besides, it is a function of government to assure that the vote of citizens is not being nullified by the illegal votes of others.
Remember a government issued "photo ID" in the form of a US driver´s license is not credible evidence that the holder is a US citizen eligible to vote in US elections.
There are tens of millions of non-citizens (aliens) in the USA who hold US driver´s licenses.
A credible voter ID is one that is individually issued after the applicant shows credible and verifiable evidence of US citizenship like a US birth certificate, or a certificate of US citizenship issued by the federal immigration authorities.
Voters who want their votes to count really need to pay more attention to their votes for their Sec. of State because they are entrusted with securing fair elections & legitimate vote counts in their state. However, over the years, some have proved to be biased, disinterested, or etc. and so unmerited for that job. The resulting elections have been tainted by sloppy voter record keeping or even allowed illegal votes. Missouri has had that problem in the past.
Kris Kostner, a merited, honest & trustworthy Ks. Sec. of State, tackled that increasingly serious problem in his state and did an admirable job of finally updating & cleaning the voter records. We appreciate that Pres. Trump has now asked him to clean up the voter records in our national elections. BRAVO!!! Kostner has already proved what he can do in his own state, despite strong opposition by the dems´ unions etc., and now he will get the job done at the Federal level votes so that the votes cast are secured & legitimate, which SHOULD be the priority & vital goal for every American citizen.
To those posting that they fear a national database containing our private information. Do you really believe that one doesn´t already exist? That´s terribly naive considering that for 16 years years Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were heading up Washington. PDT is finally trying to do something about the fraud and immediately you read something sinister into his reasons. You must really not want the swamp to be drained.
There really isn´t a need for data from all 50 states, only states that have have cities with large black and Hispanic populations, but that sort of request would be racist.
President Donald Trump confirmed Thursday that he plans to visit Puerto Rico, the U.S. territory that´s beginning a long process of recovery after Hurricane Maria struck this week. ´Yes, I will,´ he said in response to a question about whether a trip there is in his future. ´I´ll be going.´ Trump was speaking during a photo-op at the United Nations, before a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told DailyMail.com that there is ´no set timetable´ yet for a presidential visit to Puerto Rico. ´We want to be respectful of the recovery efforts and not disrupt
Of those 70 soldiers, 25 are engineers who will evaluate the damage and provide assessments and assistance in the disaster zone. As the earthquake devastated infrastructure, engineers are needed on the ground to survey buildings in the affected area, and to assess whether or not they remain safe to use. The delegation also includes search and rescue and other military personnel. The delegation, led by Col. (res.) Dudi Mizrahi of the Home Front Command’s Search and Rescue unit, will land in Mexico in approximately 18 hours. Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, an IDF spokesperson, said of the aid mission, “The IDF and the State of Israel
President Donald Trump says the U.S. is about to unleash more punishing actions on Pyongyang. Trump made the announcement Thursday as he sat down for string meetings at the United Nations. ´We will be putting more sanctions on North Korea,´ he said. Fox News reported that ´banking-related´ sanctions would be announced Thursday afternoon. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has a press briefing scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the United Nations. The United States has acknowledged that it´s at the end of its rope when it comes to slapping international sanctions on Kim Jong-un´s rogue regime. Any further punishing actions will have to come from
Donald Trump appeared to get on famously with other world leaders as he worked the room at a UN General Assembly luncheon on Tuesday. Photos show the president cheerfully chatting with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while South Korea´s Moon Jae-In listens in. Afterwards, Trump triumphantly tweeted: ´A great and important day at the United Nations. ´Met with leaders of many nations who agree with much (or all) of what I stated in my speech!´ Trump was initially sat between Guterres and Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe. Photos show him leaning in to look at something - likely a phone
President Donald Trump told world leaders the U.S. would no longer be ´taken advantage of´ as he blasted trade deals that he says caused millions of jobs to vanish. In a speech where he also called for collective action against ´Rocket man´ Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Trump saluted the United States for having prevailed in World War II only to build ´institutions such as this one to defend the sovereignty, security, and prosperity for all.´ But the president wasn't so sanguine about the international trade regime also put in place after the second world war. He blasted 'mammoth, multinational trade deals' and 'unaccountable international tribunals'
MEXICO CITY — A powerful earthquake struck Mexico on Tuesday afternoon, toppling buildings with people still inside, rattling the capital and sending people flooding into the streets for the second time in just two weeks. The earthquake occurred shortly after 1 p.m. local time about 100 miles from Mexico City. It registered a preliminary magnitude of 7.1, causing heavy and prolonged shaking in the capital. During the quake, some facades and entire buildings in Mexico City fell, crushing cars and trapping some people inside. The number of dead and injured is unclear. Tuesday’s earthquake struck on the 32nd anniversary
Israel on Monday inaugurated with its US ally a joint missile defense base on Israeli soil, the first ever, a senior Israeli air force officer said. The new facility, at an undisclosed location in southern Israel, was announced as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was due to meet US President Donald Trump in New York on the fringes of the UN General Assembly. "We inaugurated, with our partners from the United States Army, an American base, for the first time in Israel," Brigadier General Tzvika Heimowitz, head of Israeli missile defenses, told journalists. "An American flag is flying permanently over a US army
Hillary Clinton likes baths and showers, enjoys vodka and Chardonnay and thinks she ran for president against both Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Those were some of the answers she divulged when playing the ´boxers or briefs?´ game onstage of D.C.´s Warner Theatre with Politics & Prose co-owner Lissa Muscatine, as part of the first stop on her 15-city tour – deemed ´Hillary Clinton Live´ – to promote her new book. And in the Democratic stronghold of Washington, D.C., who voted for her over President Trump at 92.8 percent, Clinton´s performance was eaten up – so much that when her primary rival
Columbia, SC - A shooting Saturday left four men and four women injured in Columbia. According to the Columbia Police Department, the shootings happened in the city’s Vista Entertainment District. Authorities say prior to the shooting, there was an altercation. A bond hearing was held for three of the four suspects Sunday, John Bates Junior, Keveas Gallman and Jarvis Tucker. Bond was denied for both Bates and Gallman, Tucker received a $250,000 bond, according to the Columbia Police Department. The fourth suspect Maleik Houseal remains in the hospital. The eight victims range in age from 22 years old to 52 years old,
The Big Idea: If I had to stock Hillary Clinton’s new memoir in a bookstore, I’d be tempted to place it in a section on self-help or bereavement. “What Happened” was quickly strip-mined for political nuggets after its publication last Tuesday. As I went through it over the weekend, though, what struck me most was how the wounded Democrat coped after her crushing defeat last November. In short, Clinton has read voraciously and eclectically — for escape, for solace and for answers. The collection of works that she cites across 494 pages showcases a top-flight intellect and would make for a compelling graduate school seminar.
On the eve of Prime Minister NetanyahSeyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, an Iranian military officer currently acting as the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, issued a menacing statement against the Jewish state hours before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to bring up the ever-imminent threat posed on Israel by Tehran in his encounter with US President Donald Trump. The two are slated to meet at the UN for the General Assembly´s 72nd session held at the NY headquarters. u´s meeting with US President Donald Trump, Tehran threatens to destroy Israel "with lightning speed."
At this time for forgiveness, we have to ask if there are limits to clemency if too much harm was done…harm for generations to come…and now London, followed by an attack in Jerusalem by Palestinian Arab terrorists against a bus carrying Israeli school children. One man alone is not to blame for an entire world plunged in Islamic terrorism. But as president, George W. Bush made a difference so very much the wrong way. Six days after we were attacked, Sept 11, 2001, Bush visited a mosque in what can only be called an act of surrender. If not that, his ceremonial gesture, on behalf of the United States, can surely be termed an act
Hillary Clinton compared herself to Revolutionary War hero Paul Revere on Tuesday, saying that she is “Paula Revere” sounding the alarm on Russian active measures during the 2016 presidential campaign. (Snip) In her interview, Clinton suggested that she has led the push to call out the Russian government and Russian president Vladimir Putin about their involvement in the U.S. election. “I am saying as clearly as I can — I feel like I’m a bit of a, you know, Paula Revere — I’m trying to sound the alarm about this,” Clinton said to a smattering of laughter and applause. Clinton’s
If you had plans for the weekend, a Christian numerologist says you won’t get to them because the world is about to end. David Meade, a self-proclaimed “researcher,” is predicting that a series of apocalyptic events will begin on Sept. 23 and, “a major part of the world will not be the same.” According to Meade, the mysterious rogue planet Nibiru, also known as Planet X, is on a collision course with Earth, which will bring world-ending tsunamis and earthquakes. The numerologist claims the dates of recent events like the Great American Solar Eclipse and Hurricane Harvey’s flooding of Texas were all marked in the Bible.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller´s team is reaching back more than a decade in its investigation of Paul Manafort, a sign of the pressure Mueller is placing on President Donald Trump´s former campaign chairman. The FBI´s warrant for a July search of Manafort´s Alexandria, Virginia, home said the investigation centered on possible crimes committed as far back as January 2006, according to a source briefed on the investigation. The broad time frame is the latest indication that Mueller´s team is going well beyond Russian meddling during the campaign as part of its investigation of Trump campaign associates. Manafort,
Hillary Clinton´s "What Happened" had a big debut. Clinton´s book about her stunning loss in 2016 to Donald Trump sold more than 300,000 copies in the combined formats of hardcover, e-book and audio, Simon & Schuster told The Associated Press on Wednesday. The book´s hardcover sales of 168,000 was the highest opening for any nonfiction release in five years, according to NPD BookScan, which tracks around 85 percent of retail print sales. Mark Owen´s "No Easy Day," a 2012 memoir about the killing of Osama bin Laden, sold more than 250,000 copies in its first week. Sales for "What Happened"
Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” while reacting to President Donald Trump’s speech at United Nations, former White House press secretary for the Obama administration Josh Earnest said the overall speech lacked “coherence,” and Trump mocking North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un was “foolish.” Earnest said, “Having sat in the hall of the United Nations where the president of the United States delivers an address for gathered world leaders — that’s something I did for the last three years—what you know world leaders are looking for in that room is a coherent strategy for taking on the biggest challenges around the
United Nations - The Latest on President Donald Trump and North Korea (all times local): 8:00 a.m. Former Secretary of State John Kerry says President Donald Trump´s United Nations speech may have put America in isolation and danger. Appearing on MSNBC´s "Morning Joe" show Wednesday, Kerry criticized Trump´s harsh rhetoric against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Kerry said, "You have to ask yourself: Is America safer because of ´rocket man?" He was referring to Trump´s characterization of Kim. Kerry said that kind of harsh language will make it harder for the United States to engage in diplomacy on
In Federalist No. 68, his pseudonymous essay on “The Mode of Electing the President,” Alexander Hamilton wrote that the Electoral College could shield the United States “from the desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils.” (Snip) Hamilton and his colleagues never could have envisioned a year like 2016, when an enemy state—Russia—was able to manipulate America’s election process with stunning effectiveness. But it’s clear the national security rationale for the Electoral College is outdated and therefore it should be retired. Simply put, it enables foreign powers to more easily pierce the very shield Hamilton imagined
Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown of California compared President Donald Trump supporters to prehistoric cave dwellers Monday during a New York climate event. Brown, an outspoken Trump critic, issued an usually harsh derision of Trump supporters after dismissing the president’s rhetoric on climate change science and U.S. policy toward North Korea as “stupid and dangerous and silly.” “They’re both kind of very similar,” Brown said. “You should check out the derivation of ‘Trump-ite’ and ‘troglodyte,’ because they both refer to people who dwell in deep, dark caves.” Brown attended the climate event, which coincided with the U.N. meeting in New York,
U2 frontman Bono unloaded on President Donald Trump in a Rolling Stone interview published Wednesday, revealing that his Irish rock band’s new album will take on the “bully on the bully pulpit” because “silence is not an option.” In January, U2 founding guitarist The Edge revealed that “Songs of Experience,” the band’s follow-up to its platinum-selling 2014 album “Songs of Innocence,” was delayed because of Trump’s election. Now Bono says “there’s a couple of reasons why we delayed Songs of Experience. One personal, one political.” “The world around us was certainly changing out of all recognition, we nearly lost the
Armed FBI agenst with guns drawn busted into Paul Manafort’s home as Manafort and his wife lay in bed. The FBI agents insisted on searching Kathleen Manafort for weapons — after they barged into her home. This is Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ FBI. Sessions needs to go now. (Tweet) The New York Post reported: Gun-wielding FBI agents busted into Paul Manafort’s home as he was asleep in bed and even searched his wife for weapons, it was revealed Tuesday. Agents took an unusually tough approach in executing a search warrant, dealing with potential financial crimes by President Trump’s former campaign chief,
Hillary Clinton said First Lady Melania Trump isn’t doing enough to tackle cyberbullying. “No, no and, look, I don´t think anybody is doing enough on cyberbullying,” Clinton told Mic when asked if she thought Trump had enforced her platform. Trump condemned cyberbullying in her first United Nations speech in New York City on Wednesday. “We must come together for the good of our children,” she said. “Therefore, we must teach each child the values of empathy and communication that are at the core of kindness, mindfulness, integrity and leadership, which can only be taught by example.”
Over the years, a curious habit has taken hold at the United Nations. A body designed to strengthen the best of humanity has too often become a font of doublespeak and appeasement that protects the worst of humanity. That tragic comity was shattered when President Trump played the skunk at the garden party and dared to tell the truth. Many truths, in fact. Among them, that Islamic terrorism is a scourge that must be stopped. That Iran is controlled by a “murderous regime” bent on getting nukes. That North Korea’s “Rocket man is on a suicide mission” and the United States “will have
