Proof Justice Kennedy Is Retiring?
Townhall, by Cortney O´Brien

One paragraph hiding in an NPR piece has scholars wondering if Justice Anthony Kennedy is looking for a way out of his Supreme Court seat. Rumors were already swirling for some time, but Nina Totenberg just fanned the flames. But it is unlikely that Kennedy will remain on the court for the full four years of the Trump presidency. While he long ago hired his law clerks for the coming term, he has not done so for the following term (beginning Oct. 2018), and has let applicants for those positions know he is considering retirement. (NPR) Retiring justices tend to only hire one clerk,

The only thing better would be Buzzy Ginsberg taking her dirt nap. Even she must realize she hasn´t got 8 years left, hoping to get a Liberal POTUS to appoint her successor. PDT will appoint her successor, preferably sooner than later.

The article notes that Ginsberg has already .hired clerks thru the 2020 court term. She is apparently planning on staying that long (barring death, obviously). Any hopes of replacing her because of her voluntary retirement is wishful thinking.

You know what would be proof?

If he announces it publicly at a press conference and puts in his retirement paperwork officially.

Anything else is just mental masturbation.

As horrible as it is, the Houston deluge eventually will fade from the headlines and the media’s attention will return full-time to the rising waters around Donald Trump’s presidency. The first stop will be a deeper dive into the curious cases of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and top economic adviser Gary Cohn. Both felt the need to let it be known publicly they didn’t like Trump’s remarks after the Charlottesville violence. Cohn’s “friends” told The New York Times he drafted a resignation letter before deciding not to quit, and the former Goldman Sachs banker himself told an interviewer that the

Hillary Clinton’s case isn’t interesting enough to the public to justify releasing the FBI’s files on her, the bureau said this week in rejecting an open-records request by a lawyer seeking to have the former secretary of state punished for perjury. Ty Clevenger, the lawyer, has been trying to get Mrs. Clinton and her personal lawyers disbarred for their handling of her official emails during her time as secretary of state. He’s met with resistance among lawyers, and now his request for information from the FBI’s files has been shot down. “You have not sufficiently demonstrated that the public’s interest in disclosure

HOUSTON — Televangelist Joel Osteen says his Houston megachurch has "never" closed its doors to people seeking shelter as Harvey swamps the city. Osteen has faced criticism for not opening his massive Lakewood Church as a storm shelter. In a statement to ABC News, Osteen says the church "will continue to be a distribution center for those in need" and is "prepared to house people once shelters reach capacity." The 16,000-seat former arena served as the home of the NBA´s Houston Rockets from 1975 to 2003. Osteen´s comment stands in contrast to a church Facebook post and a since-deleted Instagram remark by Lakewood

Catastrophic flooding ‘beyond anything

The worst fears of flooding have been realized with Harvey. Close to three feet of rain has already fallen in Southeast Texas, and there’s still more to come. It’s the most extreme rainfall the region has ever witnessed. On Sunday evening, brand new bands of torrential rain were forming southwest of Houston and appeared on-track to strike the city overnight. Rainfall rates will almost certainly exceed three inches per hour over the already-submerged city. That threat prompted the National Weather Service to re-issue the flash flood emergency — the strongest flood warning it can issue — in effect through around 1

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Sunday announced plans to travel to Texas on Tuesday, as millions of people there continued to battle catastrophic flooding and torrential rain that was expected to last for several more days. The timing of a presidential visit, as the disaster was still unfolding, could put Mr. Trump in an awkward position of adding to the logistical headaches for state officials, though he may avoid the storm-ravaged parts of Texas. The White House emphasized that the president’s plans were tentative and could still change. But his Twitter feed and the photos and statements released by the White House
