Al Gore is ‘an idiot’ who only made his vast fortune just because he happened to get lucky by obsessing about climate change. Possibly we’d all guessed this already. Now it has been confirmed by an expert in the field of finance – Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway vice chairman and fellow investment billionaire Charlie Munger. Munger, who was speaking at an informal investors’ Q & A – recorded here – clearly does not rate Gore’s intelligence or investment acumen. “Al Gore has come into you fellas business, Munger said. “He has made $3 or $400 million in your business. And
Gore was a divinity school dropout after one semester, and a law school dropout after one semester. Fortunately, he had his daddy´s name to run on, even though daddy was somewhat ´corrupt´ and anti-black. (Little Al turned daddy into a civil rights champion, which was an amazing lie.)
It´s his manner of speaking ....like a 2nd grade teacher...that galls me the most. It´s a leftist habit (Trick) that divides the world into those who agree and those who are to hopelessly stupid to understand.
In this way honest debate is never engaged....only sympathy for the sub-humans who fail to get on board.
Warren Buffett´s partner Charlie Munger is not a yellow dog Democrat. Buffett is. It has always amazed me how an investor as smart as Buffett could have been as stupid politically as he has been. It probably had something to do with his years at Columbia U. Obama went there, too.
Whatever, Gore is a ignorant Green demagogue who has become inordinately wealthy on his government contacts, something no one ought to be able to do. In my book Gore, Harry Reid, LBJ, and others like them are, essentially, thieves who´ve gamed the system. They produce nothing of value, yet the money floods in.
Munger has pegged Gore, who ought to become America´s arch pariah after his dishonest post-2001 career. There could be no worse "public servant" than Gore, who´s as greedy and as mendacious as anyone you´ll ever find.
Delingpole concludes thus: This augurs very well for those of us who are hoping that the Enron-style Potemkin industry that is the renewables sector collapses very soon.
Yep. There is no good economic reason for the renewables (biofuels, especially ethanol) to exist. Political pressure keeping the sector afloat is great, but economic reality is relentless. It´s going to collapse. (Wish I knew when! Be alert.)
Any savvy investor could tell you that stocks fall much faster than they rise, and when a stock or, especially, a sector goes out of favor, it´s possible to make very profitable trades playing the downside, e.g., either going short, buying put options, or selling call options. Be nimble.
A couple of years ago some of the top solar stocks went to the bathroom after bad earnings and news. The same can and will happen to the rest of Big Green.
To #10 I would say not to disrespect Charlie Munger. He´s on our side, in spite of his partner´s thoroughgoing liberalism. I´m glad he has the gumption to speak out. He should be encouraged to do so. Gore´s policies are ruinous. Everyone should know it.
algore is also a vindictive snake. A small community in Alabama was devastated by a tornado while he was in office. The slimy jerk blocked federal aid because the area had voted Republican. Can´t remember the final outcome but algore´s nastiness showed through.
Al Gore Is ‘An Idiot’ Who Just Got Lucky Obsessing About ‘Climate Change’
Now that we´ve been told Al Gore´s an idiot (no way we could have EVER figured that out twenty years ago), it would be a great time for someone like the creators of South Park to do a spoof on Gore like maybe Gore chasing a non-existent creature. Call the creature; I don´t know, maybe ManBearPig.
I´m not a freaking billionaire and I could´ve told Munger that. Remember how they tried to make the Gore-bot seem more intelligent than GWB back in 2000. Bush graduated from Yale but Al Goreleoni dropped out of divinity school. Idiot is being too kind to this moron.
The moral is: value investing is everything. Partner up with a good value guy, and you could make your investors rich running a fund that invested in companies that only make or sell only blue products.
If liberals are so smart, why do they constantly fall for the scams of these hucksters? Gore, the Clintons, Obama, all con men who enrich themselves at public expense. I suppose it´s because the liberals who aren´t stupid or ignorant have a need to Feel Good about themselves. That they are saving the planet, or they are more compassionate than others. Just as long as it isn´t their money being spent.
#25, to whom thanks are due, has brought up an issue that needs airing right now, something that should be on every conservative / libertarian / reasonable other´s essential political check list.
Charlie Munger´s unflinching honesty on an issue that is close to a hair trigger Left sacrament marks him as a Hall of Fame American patriot. I´m not kidding about that.
To be certain, he has a lot of underlying support, mostly silent until pivotal times like these, I pray. We shall be silent no longer. We might even use the Left´s tactics against them, Alinsky style. Would serve them right.
In this life these fashionably liberal putzes might put up a front that keeps them from being hated, in the temporal sense, by non-leftoids for being billionaires dozens of times over, but Buffett (and Bill Gates) have been weaned on a post-Rousseau / Marxist / German / Soviet mindset, and have, barely mentioning their children in their wills, consigned their riches, public sewer style, to the worst ideas of the millennium. Easy come, easy go. There should be little forgiveness without repentance for their over the waterfall gullibility. I mean, really. Are they that (deleted) dumb?
Charlie Munger won´t contribute to most of his business partner´s enthusiasms.
(As the world´s richest person, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos could transform how philanthropy works.David Ryder/Getty Images) A surge in Amazon stock on Thursday morning has increased CEO Jeff Bezos´ net worth by $1.1 billion, to $90.9 billion, officially making him the world´s richest person. Aside from Bezos´ displacing Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, whose net worth is $90.7 billion, the new distinction could fuel his interest in furthering human progress through for-profit companies — efforts that could greatly shift how the world´s wealthiest think about philanthropy. "I think his activities to date suggest he looks at some of his business investments
Former Congressman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s aide, Imran Awan, was arrested on Wednesday on bank fraud charges, but The Hill reporter Joe Concha says the story has been lacking coverage in the mainstream media. “This is a story that ABC and NBC decided they weren’t going to cover. That’s called the bias of omission or the sin of omission, and CNN and MSNBC same deal,” Concha told FBN’s Stuart Varney. Awan, a Pakistani native, was the IT man for Schultz and was paid over four million dollars for his work. He also had access to eight other Congressman’s laptops, along with
BALTIMORE— Chaos erupted Tuesday at a Baltimore City Hall hearing for a proposed mandatory one-year sentence for possession of an illegal handgun. It took just minutes for rising tensions to overflow. Council members had issued several warnings to unruly attendees, but police were called to move in as activists clashed with council members, and people pushed back. It ended with two arrests and a lot of upset people. The Baltimore Police Department says a 29-year-old and a 27-year-old were arrested and will face charges. At least one person was injured as police pulled people from the room, and an ambulance
The White House announced Wednesday that President Donald Trump is donating his quarterly salary to the Education Department. “Last quarter, the president´s salary went toward the restoration of two projects at a national battlefield. After his donation, additional donors quickly stepped up to bring the total gift to over $260,000,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. (Video) Sanders presented a check for $100,000 to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. The money will go towards a STEM-focused camp for kids at the Education Department, DeVos said. “Just yesterday, Ivanka Trump and I hosted a summer reading event at the Smithsonian´s
Police arrested 15 protesters outside the office of the Texas Attorney General on Thursday. Organizers managed to draw only 50 people to demonstrate against the State’s new sanctuary city ban and General Ken Paxton’s threat to sue the federal government to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers arrested 15 people engaged in a sit-in outside the attorney general’s office after they blocked a roadway and refused orders to leave, according to a Fox 7 report in Austin. The Mexican Consulate in Austin confirmed to the local Fox News affiliate that four
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s lawyers will reportedly subpoena nearly two dozen New York Times reporters, editors, and employees and ask the Times to produce “every internal communication it has had about her since 2011” for her defamation lawsuit. According to a New York Post report, based on court documents released on Wednesday, the Times’ lawyers whined that Palin’s legal team intends to subpoena “twenty-three non-party current and former Times reporters, editors and other employees” in addition to demanding the internal communications. Palin’s legal team is reportedly seeking “documents that might reveal, among other things, their ‘negative feelings’ toward her.?”
The secretive Washington firm that commissioned the sensational anti-Trump campaign research dossier also advised corrupt Venezuelan officials accused of conducting a lucrative money laundering scheme, a respected international human rights group told lawmakers probing the Russian election-meddling scandal. Thor Halvorssen, head of the New York-based Human Rights Foundation, told the Senate Judiciary Committee in written testimony that Washington-based political intelligence firm Fusion GPS operated a campaign against journalists who threatened to expose a multibillion-dollar fraud involving faulty South American electric power plants, the laundering of its proceeds in U.S. banks and a kickback scheme to pay off Venezuelan officials. “Corrupt
NEW YORK CITY — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo traveled to Washington D.C. Wednesday to seek federal funding for the city’s failing transport system, a month after Cuomo declared a state of emergency for the MTA and warned of a “summer of h**l” for commuters. Cuomo met with Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao to discuss a funding of “The Gateway Tunnel” — a new tunnel between New Jersey and New York in order to ease congestion on the interstate railways. “The Gateway Tunnel is critical for rail traffic entering New York and the entire Northeast. It is essential that this project,
Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin plans to subpoena close to two dozen New York Times reporters, editors and other workers as part of her defamation lawsuit against the newspaper, it was revealed in court documents Wednesday. In a motion arguing that the case be dismissed, lawyers for the New York Times complained that Palin’s legal team has served notice that she plans to subpoena “twenty-three non-party current and former Times reporters, editors and other employees – most of whom had nothing to do with the editorial at issue.” The subpoenas are part of Palin’s effort to obtain “documents that might
Back in the late 1990s, there was a popular TV show called Breaking the Magician´s Code: Magic´s Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed, in which a masked magician showed the audience how some of the most famous stage magic tricks were done. This horrified and outraged professional magicians everywhere, as it struck at the heart of their livelihood. Donald Trump is doing the same thing to the entrenched Washington establishment, only without the mask, and with a much greater outcry and resistance from the lobbyists, politicians, and media hacks he is exposing on a daily basis. The first major salvo that went
Democrat Rep. and former DNC head Debbie Wasserman Schultz has a lot of explaining to do, according to RNC Chief Ronna Romney McDaniel. The RNC Chairwoman is demanding Wasserman Schultz testify in front of Congress over her ties to recently arrested IT staffer Imran Awan. (Photo) Breitbart News reports: McDaniel made the explosive demand in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News via phone on Wednesday afternoon, after news broke Tuesday night that Wasserman Schultz’s IT staffer for more than a decade was caught trying to flee the country by federal law enforcement agents after wiring hundreds of thousands of dollars
Just before noon, the Associated Press ended almost 18 hours of silence on the arrest of IT staffer Imran Awan yesterday as he was attempting to leave the country. The report spun the news in the most favorable way it could for beleaguered Democrats, making Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz look like the victim as it headlined her spokesman´s claim that she fired Awan Tuesday after learning of his arrest. The fact is that Schultz has been involved in obstructing investigations into Awan´s activities for months. Here are the headline and first few paragraphs of that conveniently unbylined AP report (also saved
The moderator lauded Michelle Obama for her achievements over the past eight years and touched on the former first lady’s plans, but Tuesday’s conversation also veered into uncomfortable territory. It was Obama’s largest public appearance since the 2016 election — speaking in front of more than 8,000 people at the Women’s Foundation of Colorado’s 30th anniversary celebration — and she touched on personal attacks that she faced again and again. Many had the same theme. “The shards that cut me the deepest were the ones that intended to cut,” Obama said, according to the Denver Post. “Knowing that after eight
When President Trump made his initial remarks reflecting disappointment in Attorney General Jeff Sessions it was initially unnerving. The subsequent fallout from the public criticism has united the NeverTrump crowd, Cruzbots and professionally GOPe, to defend the honor of the much beloved former Senator. The opportunity to bash Trump is simply an ancillary benefit. Conversely, the MAGA community has largely portrayed the rift as if the Presidential critique was part of a larger strategy between the President and Attorney General. If we wait long enough some mysterious master plan will eventually to be discovered. However, the subsequent POTUS tweets and comments do
Former House Speaker John Boehner said at an event in Las Vegas last week that he used to “sneak into” the White House to see President Barack Obama to avoid scrutiny from the “right-wing press,” according to a report by the Washington Post, which obtained a videotape of Boehner’s remarks. Boehner also lamented the fact that Americans now have too many choices of where to go for news and information. “What’s making everything even worse today is because we have so much news, people get to choose where they get their news,” Boehner said, according to the Post. “It used
At the end of a Senate subcommittee hearing on Tuesday morning, someone sitting near Chairman Susan Collins (R-Maine) didn’t switch off a microphone. Collins was recorded discussing the federal budget and President Trump’s lack of familiarity with the details of governing with a colleague — apparently Sen. Jack Reed (R.I.), the ranking Democrat on the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies subcommittee.
Hillary Clinton is to call her new memoir about being beaten by Donald Trump ´What Happened´, her publisher announced Thursday. Her photograph will not feature on the cover - and she will call herself Hillary Rodham Clinton. She ran as Hillary Clinton. The memoir, published by Simon & Schuster promises to deliver the story of her defeat ´now free from the constraints of politics´. It will finally break the pattern of months by containing details of her ´mistakes´ - but firmly blame James Comey and the Russians. One friend of Clinton told The Hill it would be a ´bombshell´. The
Former House IT staffer Imran Awan was arrested Monday night at Dulles International Airport where he was "trying to leave the country," Fox news reported Tuesday evening. Following his arrest for bank fraud, Awan was finally fired by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla. (Snip) Imran and his Pakistani-born brothers, Abid and Jamal Awan, are currently under criminal investigation by U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI on suspicion that they accessed congressional computers without permission and stole equipment. There is also evidence of "financial schemes that extend beyond the Capitol Police’s purview and may expand to Pakistan," according to The Daily
Sticky-fingered socialist Bernie Sanders is apparently stealing his neighbor´s Washington Post subscription, as any good socialist might do. In perhaps the funniest and most fitting news of the year, WMAL radio host Chris Plante told his audience of a story he heard from friends about the elderly senator. A man living next to Sanders apparently called the Post to complain that he was hardly ever receiving his subscription. After an investigation into the matter, the paying customer realized that it was his neighbor, Senator Sanders, who was stealing the paper right from under his nose. (Snip) First it was reported that
A transgender former Navy SEAL has spoken out against President Trump’s ban on transgender military members, saying he is preventing soldiers from doing their service. “Let´s meet face to face and you tell me I´m not worthy,” Kristin Beck, a retired SEAL Team 6 member who has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, told Business Insider. Beck was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal during her time in the service, when she kept her gender identity a secret, according to a 2015 profile in GQ. The President said that transgender service in the military causes
Let’s review a few recent developments. Last week, Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, resigned. This was part of a “White House shakeup” to get the Trump administration back on track. The new communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, would fix the White House’s “messaging problem.” Within 24 hours of Scaramucci’s appointment, the president returned to Twitter and unloaded another torrent of political bombshells, including talking about his power to pardon, even as his attorneys were denying that Donald Trump was thinking about pardoning anyone.
President Donald Trump’s Wednesday announcement on Twitter that transgender men and women will not be allowed to serve in the military “in any capacity” was not a complete surprise: Last month, Defense Secretary James Mattis announced that the military was hitting the pause button on an Obama-era plan to welcome openly transgender people into the military. But the announcement was a legal land mine. The Trump administration may soon learn that singling out a class of people for exclusion violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law. And as to those transgender soldiers already serving openly, any effort
President Donald Trump’s dramatic decision to exclude so-called “transgender” people from the military is a direct rejection of the progressives’ revolutionary demand that Americans’ society should be remade to eliminate all civic recognition of the two different-and-complementary male and female sexes. (Tweets) The Wednesday decision was greeted with anger from the left, which had hoped that the military’s 2016 endorsement of the transgender ideology would push the Supreme Court and legislators nationwide to impose and establish the unpopular claim that a person’s changeable choice of “gender” is more legally important than their biological sex. If endorsed by the courts, that
President Donald Trump has been attacking his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, daily. There have been brutal attacks on Twitter, in media interviews, and during speeches. Conventional wisdom is that Trump is getting ready to fire Sessions or hoping Sessions resigns. Conventional wisdom also assured everyone that Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide, the only question being by how large a margin. Trump´s complaint is that his attorney general should not have recused himself from the Russia hacking hoax and that he is dragging his feet on long overdue investigations and prosecutions: Deep State leaks; unmasking; DNC and Clinton collusion
