(Video)[Breaking news update, published at 3:50 p.m. ET] Released North Korea detainee Otto Warmbier suffered extensive brain damage and shows no current signs of botulism, doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center said Thursday. The 22-year-old has not spoken or "engaged in any purposeful movements" since arriving in the country Tuesday night, said Dr. Daniel Kanter, professor of neurology and director of the Neurocritical Care Program. "He shows no signs of understanding language or responding to verbal commands," the doctor said, adding that Warmbier´s condition is best described as "unresponsive wakefulness." The doctors said they could not speculate on what caused his injuries.
Comments: Dr. Kanter: Cardiopulmonary arrest where brain is deprived of blood for a period of time resulting in loss of brain tissue?
Very sad. Whether or not he should have been there is irrelevant with regard to his physical treatment. The NK regime has brutalized many of its people in the same manner. I am praying for this young man, who will undoubtedly need assisted care for the rest of his life, however long that might be under the circumstances. I am also praying for his family, who obviously loves him and will have to care for him now. No human being should be treated like this.
We have so very many snowflake-brained young people it boggles the mind. They want to go to these places where the government is ruling terrorist/warlord/thug regime and think that they will be immune to any kind of mistreatment. Surely this young man did not deserve what happened to him, but it does raise the question of whether or not he was properly educated about the nature of the NorK regime. I suspect his leftoid professors and other teachers left him intentionally ignorant or miseducated/indoctrinated. The predictable result is this tragedy. BTW, why just take the poster instead of asking if he might have it as a souvenir to display to his friends at home? The NorKs probably would have been flattered by the request.
He was probably tortured and beaten with a balk. Or rawhide torture may have been used on him. Strip of wet rawhide is applied around the neck. As it dries it gradually shrinks thus slowly but surely constricting blood flow to the brain.
ormer Defense Secretary Leon Panetta did his duty in carrying water for the Democratic Party on CBS News. John Dickerson, host of "Face the Nation," accidentally showed why President Trump is getting tough on North Korea. (Snip) JOHN DICKERSON: "On the question of North Korea and the president´s rhetoric, as you heard the C.I.A. director said, ´That tough rhetoric is snapping North Korea into shape.´ They realize now that they´ve got somebody they can´t push around. What´s wrong with that argument?" LEON PANETTA: "Well, I-I´ve never felt, in the period of time that we´ve been dealing with North Korea going back
Asian policy specialist Gordon Chang interviewed by Maria Bartiromo on her Sunday talk show and accurately outlines the key to a denuclearized North Korea is an economically defeated China. It appears Mr. Chang fully understands the Trump policy of using economics to achieve national security. As we have continued to outline, China, specifically the old guard communist control agents within Beijing, use Kim Jong-un as a foil against the west, specifically against the United States. The long-term objective in using the DPRK is retention of China’s economic strategy, and blockage of President Trump from upending their goals. Watch: (Video)
President Donald Trump reacted to Saturday’s violence in Charlottesville by condemning violence “on many sides.” His critics pounced, saying that he should have specifically condemned violence by white supremacists, and that by not doing so, he in fact condoned such violence. The critics are guilty of a double standard, and of exploiting the violence for political gain, widening America’s divisions at a time when national unity is the only proper course.(Snip) Trump’s critics never applied the same standard to Barack Obama. When five Dallas police officers were murdered in cold blood at a Black Lives Matter protest, Obama did not disavow the
Now former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci has finished off whatever is left of his credibility, blowing it all in a baseless attack on Breitbart News and White House chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon as well as ripping President Donald Trump in an appearance on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. Perhaps more importantly than his personal attacks on the president and on Bannon, however, was his efforts to now steer the president to “move away” from the campaign promises that won him the election and toward “establishment senators” he thinks Trump needs to “curry favor with.” (Snip) What a
As everyone might expect today’s Sunday Talk shows are generally centered around ridiculing and undermining President Trump for not being forceful enough in speaking out against the events in Charlottesville. Specifically the constructed and coordinated media narrative is to paint President Trump as a sympathizer for violence, bigotry and racism; therefore, by extension he becomes a violent, bigoted racist himself. Whatever you think of the media’s chosen strategy, that’s clearly the plan; and when all media unite together with the same plan they’re pretty good at reinforcing it. The first useful idiot used to bludgeon the president is former short-term communications director
From here, where Southern California greets Mexico along steep canyons, images of a border gone awry once inflamed the nation’s immigration debate. “The place was completely out of control back then,” recalled Oscar Peña, a veteran Border Patrol agent who recently stood atop a mesa looking down on an iconic site — the “soccer field,” where U.S. authorities long struggled to hold back the assembled migrants poised to head north.(Snip)Between the 1980s and early 2000s, migrants would gather en masse at the soccer field, which sits entirely on U.S. soil, after descending through the adjacent Tijuana neighborhood of Colonia Libertad. (CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.) — A federal judge has ordered a Virginia city to allow a weekend rally of white nationalists and other extremists to take place at its originally planned location downtown.U.S. District Judge Glen Conrad granted a preliminary injunction Friday in a lawsuit filed against Charlottesville by right-wing blogger Jason Kessler. Kessler organized the Saturday rally to protest Charlottesville´s decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from Emancipation Park. The city announced earlier this week that the rally must be moved out of Emancipation Park to a larger one, citing safety reasons. The rally and counter-protests are expected
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia --One person died when a car plowed into a crowd following a dispersed gathering of white nationalists and counterprotesters in Charlottesville. Shortly before the attack Saturday, fistfights and screaming matches erupted between counterprotesters and white nationalists protesting the removal of a confederate monument. The clashes led to the cancellation of scheduled protests, sending demonstrators from both sides marching on nearby streets. A few hours later, a car slammed into a throng of counterprotesters. Here´s what we know: * Counterprotesters met white nationalists and other right-wing groups at the site of Saturday´s "Unite the Right" event hours before the rally was
Facing increased criticism from the EU and Libyan officials being paid by the EU to keep North African economic migrants from crossing the Mediterranean, Doctors Without Borders has temporarily shut down their North African ferry services. Under the auspices of generous NGO funding, the globalist organization transported thousands of economic migrants from North Africa to the EU so far this year by transferring small groups onto their bigger ships for the journey across the sea. However, the EU is overflowing with the migrant arrivals, and without the billions of dollars from U.S. pledges via the Paris Climate Treaty even liberal
The incompetence, gullibility and lassitude of three successive administrations have dumped the horrible problem of North Korea into the lap of President Donald Trump. The shilly-shallying and pretend-resolutions that marked the old way of dealing with Pyongyang have come to a dead end. The crisis exposes the infirmity of the Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama administrations in their North Korea policies. But it goes back even earlier. It is now clear that, while his insubordination was unacceptable, General Douglas MacArthur was correct in advocating disposing of North Korea when we could have done so. The resulting loss of life would
President Trump and Veteran Affairs Secretary David Shulkin announce the VA Choice and Quality Employment Act. BEDMINSTER, N.J. (AP) — President Donald Trump has signed an emergency spending bill that will pump more than $2 billion into a program that allows veterans to receive private medical care at government expense. Trump, who made improving veterans care a central campaign promise, signed the VA Choice and Quality Employment Act while at his New Jersey golf club on Saturday. The bill, which addresses a budget shortfall at the Department of Veteran Affairs that threatened medical care for thousands of veterans, provides $2.1 billion to
The plague, also known as “the Black Death” killed somewhere between 75 and 200 million people as a result of international trade, commerce and transnational shipping. The disease was thought to be spread by fleas and parasites carried by rats. The global population took over 400 years to recover.ARIZONA – Officials in two Arizona counties are warning the public after fleas in the region tested positive for the plague, the infamous infectious disease that killed millions during the Middle Ages. Navajo County Public Health officials confirmed on Friday that fleas in the area have tested positive for the rare disease. The
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — White House officials, under siege over President Trump’s reluctance to condemn white supremacists for the weekend’s bloody rallies in Charlottesville, Va., tried to clarify his comments on Sunday, as critics in both parties intensified demands that he adopt a stronger, more unifying message. A statement on Sunday — issued more than 36 hours after the protests began — condemned “white supremacists” for the violence that led to one death. It came in an email sent to reporters in the president’s traveling press pool, and was attributed to an unnamed representative. It was not attributed directly to Mr.
CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta unleashed a series of tweets throughout the day on Saturday blaming President Trump for the white supremacists rally and subsequently deadly violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. “These are the consequences of sanitizing white supremacists who seek to be rebranded as part of American ‘right.’ They are peddling hatred,” Acosta complained in his first tweet. Acosta made no attempt to look at his own employer or the rest of the news media in the mirror for the amount of free publicity they’ve given neo-Nazis over the last few years, but that would require a level-headed kind
FOX News reporter Doug McKelway attended the violent protests Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia. McKelway told FOX News viewers the police pulled out of Lee Park after the violence started. The police told him, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.” (Photo) This was after violent Antifa terrorists launched an attack on the white supremacists. Doug McKelway: We are now beginning to hear criticism bubble up on all sides of this event about the initial slow response by the police. When I got out of my car yesterday in Charlottesville about 10:30 in the morning you knew this was a bad scene and
An Ohio man is accused of driving a car into a crowd of people protesting a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., killing a 32-year-old woman and injuring 19 others, police said late Saturday. James Alex Fields Jr., 20, was booked into the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail on one count of second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding, and one count of failing to stop at an accident that resulted in a death. On Saturday night, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the opening of a federal civil rights investigation into
Saturday was marked by bloodshed in Charlottesville, Virginia after an apparent white nationalist plowed into a crowd of counter-protesters in a blatant attack. And on the morning after, NBC’s Sunday Today put President Trump in their sights as they unloaded on him while appearing to pin the blame for the attack on him. At one point even claiming he “enjoys” the support he gets from the bigots who were rallying in Virginia. “President Trump condemned the violence there on Saturday but he did not specifically speak to the white nationalism that was on display,” complained Anchor Willie Geist as he was
Worst. President. Ever. Barack Obama executed the weakest economic growth in US history, the worst recovery since World War II, a genocide of Christians and minorities in the Middle East, and a disastrous foreign policy. The Democrat Party suffered historic losses under Barack Obama. (Chart) Democrats lost 1,042 state and federal Democratic posts during the Obama years including senators, representatives, governorships and the White House. (Tweet) But have faith Democrats– Barack is coming back to help rebuild the Democrat Party. The Hill reported: Former President Barack Obama will re-emerge on the national scene this fall, though Democrats expect him to
A day after violence broke out between counter-protesters and white nationalists in his city, Charlottesville Mayor Michael Signer on Sunday said President Trump deserves at least some of the blame. “Look at the campaign he ran,” Mr. Signer told CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Look at the intentional courting, on one hand, of all these white supremacists, white nationalists … and look on the other hand at the repeated failure to step up, condemn, denounce, silence, put to bed all of these different efforts, just like we saw yesterday. This isn’t hard.” Mr. Trump has come under bipartisan fire for failing to explicitly condemn white
Rep. Maxine Waters excoriated President Trump on social media Sunday for his response to the violence in Charlottesville, Va., saying the White House is now the "White Supremacists´ House." "Trump has made it clear - w/ Bannon & Gorka in the WH, & the Klan in the streets, it is now the White Supremacists´ House. #Charlottesviille," Waters wrote on Twitter, referring to White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and deputy assistant to the president Sebastian Gorka. The California Democrat added, "Trump refuses to condemn white supremacists & terrorists who showed up in Charlottesville. Is he sending a signal? Everyone must
President Donald Trump allegedly suspects his chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, is behind some White House leaks about fellow staffers, according to a new report. Sources reportedly told Axios that West Wing staff believe Bannon was behind leaks about National Security Adviser HR McMaster and that Bannon´s job could be in jeopardy. Trump has been ´irritated´ with Bannon following a series of Breitbart reports targeting McMaster, according to the report.. Bannon was formerly the executive chairman of Breitbart.
Dear John: You recently criticized the FBI for its investigation of Hillary Clinton’s e-mails. I am a retired FBI agent and extremely proud of my career and service. I feel compelled to write. Former FBI Director James Comey’s statements, testimony and behavior are truly abhorrent. Comey admitted under oath before Congress that the bureau did not utilize a federal grand jury in the Hillary e-mail investigation. Furthermore, he testified that in his experience, when dealing with attorneys, you can obtain information easier and faster than via a federal grand jury. Never, I repeat never, in my 25-year career have I or any FBI agent
HAMPTON, Iowa — It was quitting time. Edith Rivera took one last lunch order, dropped off a basket of tortilla chips and set off from work, heading out to the farm roads where other immigrants feared to drive. Like them, Ms. Rivera, 33, had no legal status in the country where she had lived for 18 years. She had no driver’s license, apart from the long-expired North Carolina identification she held safe, like a talisman, in her wallet. But as she skimmed past the northern Iowa cornfields on her way to her son Steven’s seventh-grade track meet, she did not
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called on the Department of Justice to investigate a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va. that turned violent and left three dead and dozens injured. "The Nazis, the KKK, and white supremacists are repulsive and evil, and all of us have a moral obligation to speak out against the lies, bigotry, ant-semitism, and hatred that they propagate," Cruz said in a statement. Having watched the horrifying video of the car deliberately crashing into a crowd of protesters, I urge the Department of Justice to immediately investigate and prosecute this grotesque act of domestic terrorism," he
