Thousands of Georgia residents who depend on food stamps are losing their benefits because they have failed to meet the state’s new requirements that force the able-bodied without children to find jobs. These new work requirements have been rolled out in phases for the past year. The latest round impacted approximately 12,000 people in 21 counties. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported more than half of them, or 7,251, were dropped from the food stamp program because they were not working. The program will eventually be expanded to all of Georgia’s 159 counties, so thousands more people are going to either
Comments: I agree with Benita Dodd, the spokesman from the conservative think tank, about the motivation for the change.
Let´s see photo "bodyshots" of all food stamp recipients. We don´t need to see their faces or know their names, just numbers. The let the public VOTE by secure e-mail on who should receive assistance based strictly on Body Mass Index.
The food stamp program is horribly corrupt and ridiculously out of control.
Oh Poor Me...I can´t work because I quit school and can´t read or write (or speak decent English), so I really can´t work! Well, boo hoo! You can load trucks, dig ditches, wash dishes, wash hotel laundry...there are thousands of jobs you CAN do if you WANT money! A lot of those jobs now belong to Illegals because THEY WILL work for money! I have no sympathy for them! I am not picking on the Black community because I personally know a few White folks who don´t work and are able-bodied and DO have educations. They just plain don´t feel like it! Time to shut off the freebies! Get a job!
I have always wondered why volunteers are needed to serve people with no job or other apparent obligations meals. Seems to me that these recipients could garner a little personal dignity by preparing, serving and cleaning up. But that´s just me.
Article mentions how big box stores like Walmart will be hurt. Well if that´s the case, I´m surprised the liberal aren´t all for it. They seem to hate Walmart with a hatred so dark and so evil that it seems part of original sin.
FTA: “Parents will work just as hard at unforgiving jobs and see less food on the table for their families. Children will become sicker without the proper nutrition, ending up in hospitals or on the rolls of what social services remain,” Chilton wrote in an op-ed published by The Hill. “Some children will die.”
Typical DemonRAT talking points...it will hurt women and children most...except it affects only able-bodied adults without children!!
The USA is the only country where the "poor" are generally obese, have a cell phone and a big screen TV.
Not buying ANY of the stories about starving people in the USA. Only those who are too deranged to obtain what is available, such as the homeless, will go without meals in this country. The mentally ill homeless should be in institutions, not on the street both for their own and for our good.
IMO, cut food stamp program back to ONLY a block of government cheese, government butter, government bread, government milk, sugar, pasta and a few other basic foods in plain white boxes. NO prepared foods, NO luxury foods. Watching EBT shoppers fill their carts with prime, expensive foods boils my blood. I was once poor, and I never took any handouts, I worked several jobs and went to school. No sympathy for any able bodied on welfare, and IME, most "disabled" are fakers. I have employed some of them.
According to leading alt-right protesters, the violent rally in Charlottesville, Virginia staged by hundreds of white nationalists served as a response to “cosmopolitan elites’ attack on whites” — as well as a step toward the “GOP becoming a party exclusively for the white race.” “White people are tired of being told by the cosmopolitan elites that we are the problem, they can’t keep blaming [us] or else incidents like this will continue,” said James Allsup, an alt-right figure and former chair of the Washington State College Republicans Federation. Cosmopolitan elites include the mainstream media, establishment politicians, and Hollywood figures, according to Allsup. Allsup
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called on the Department of Justice to investigate a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va. that turned violent and left three dead and dozens injured. "The Nazis, the KKK, and white supremacists are repulsive and evil, and all of us have a moral obligation to speak out against the lies, bigotry, ant-semitism, and hatred that they propagate," Cruz said in a statement. Having watched the horrifying video of the car deliberately crashing into a crowd of protesters, I urge the Department of Justice to immediately investigate and prosecute this grotesque act of domestic terrorism," he
James Alex Fields Jr. has been identified as the the driver who drove his Dodge Challenger into a street congested with counter protestor pedestrians in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier today. His alleged action led to the death of a yet to be identified 32 year old woman and several critical injuries. According to EverPedia, Fields Jr. is a “resident of Maumee, Ohio?. He is registered to vote in Lucas County, Ohio? and put his party affiliation as Republican]?In addition, James is registered as the owner of a Gray 2010 Dodge Challenger? that ran into protesters at the Unite the Right
Melania Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to denounce violent clashes at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, offering the White House´s first public comment on the matter before the president got around to it. “Our country encourages freedom of speech, but let´s communicate w/o hate in our hearts. No good comes from violence,” Melania wrote. President Donald Trump issued his own slightly more vague statement a short time later. “We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!” he wrote.
President Donald Trump’s administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, believes the EPA has room to be resized in terms of budget, staffing and authorities. The former attorney general for Oklahoma says in this exclusive interview for The Daily Caller News Foundation, “When you’re spending a million dollars for gym memberships, you have room to contract.” Pruitt tells TheDCNF the EPA should “not be an agency trying to set energy policy, use its authority to pick winners and losers, acting outside the rule of law, acting outside of process, re-imagining their authority under their statutes, or creating uncertainty in the
WASHINGTON - The White House said on Sunday that U.S. President Donald Trump was open to signing legislation toughening sanctions on Russia after Senate and House leaders reached agreement on a bill late last week. Congressional Democrats said on Saturday they had agreed with Republicans on a deal allowing new sanctions targeting Russia, Iran and North Korea in a bill that would limit any potential effort by Trump to try to lift sanctions against Moscow. "We support where the legislation is now and will continue working with the House and Senate to put those tough sanctions in place on Russia until the
The news that Southern-fried rock/rapper Kid Rock will be running for some timeserving Dem hack’s Senate seat in Michigan should make every normal American smile and spill a 40 to his homies. The future Senator Rock deserves your eager support for two critical reasons: First, it will drive the liberals insane. Second, it will make George Will and the rest of Team Fredocon soil themselves. “Kid Rock? Oh, well I never!” You simpering sissies. I’ll take his nasty stringy mop and torn wife beater over your preferred weasels’ coiffed politician/newscaster hair and Gucci loafers. No, he didn’t go to
On Friday night, Elizabeth MacDonough, the Senate parliamentarian, made damn sure that defunding of Planned Parenthood will not be part of the Senate health care bill, citing the Byrd rule to stipulate that the key provisions violated Senate rules. MacDonough advised then-Vice President Albert Gore on the procedure for counting ballots following Bush v. Gore. Senator Bernie Sanders chortled, “The parliamentarian’s decision today proves once again that the process Republicans have undertaken to repeal the Affordable Care Act and throw 22 million Americans off of health insurance is a disaster.” It is now clear the Senate’s version of a new health
On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace said after his interview with the new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci that he loved “this new guy.” Wallace said, “Well, Julie, at the risk of repeating him, I love this new guy. Finally, the Trump White House as a surrogate who talks like the boss.” Associated Press Washington bureau chief Julie Pace agreed, saying, “Exactly, I think that’s what has a lot of Trump loyalists and supporters happy with this pick. They feel like this is somebody who understands the way the president communicates, who’s going to
The Trump administration is readying for a crackdown on marijuana users under Attorney General Jeff Sessions. President Trump’s Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety, led by Sessions, is expected to release a report next week that criminal justice reform advocates fear will link marijuana to violent crime and recommend tougher sentences for those caught growing, selling and smoking the plant. Sessions sent a memo in April updating the U.S. Attorney’s Offices and Department of Justice Department (DOJ) component heads on the work of the task force, which he said would be accomplished through various subcommittees. In the memo,
For weeks, observers were wondering when President Donald Trump would focus on pushing recalcitrant Republicans to back a Senate bill to repeal and possibly replace Obamacare — so that Trump and GOP lawmakers could keep faith with a key campaign pledge dear to the GOP base. Wednesday, Trump seized his bully pulpit. He invited all 52 Republican senators to the White House for a lunch at which he called out Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., in a way that left no doubt among other GOP Hamlets that if they voted against Trumpcare, it could cost them their jobs. More than that,
President Trump’s new message man is already eating his own words. In his Sunday talk shows debut, the newly minted White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci continuously contradicted himself — and others in the Trump administration — as he seemed to struggle with keeping several White House stories straight. In one instance, Scaramucci caved in after one question about a statement he made and revealed his anonymous source in the middle of an interview. The source turned out to be Trump. [snip] Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Scaramucci argued that there’s “a lot of disinformation” circulating about Russia’s
Hillary Clinton´s pastoral adviser urged her to keep her head up following her unexpected Election Day loss in November and compared the election to Good Friday, the day Jesus was crucified. "It is Friday, but Sunday is coming ... This is not the devotional you wish to receive this day. While Good Friday may be the starkest representation of a Friday that we have, life is filled with a lot of Fridays," wrote United Methodist City Society Executive Director the Rev. Bill Shillady in an email to Clinton obtained by CNN. "Friday is the day that it all falls apart and
The debut of Megyn Kelly´s morning show is nearly a month away, and NBC is working hard to try and make sure America falls in love with the real her. The former Fox News host was featured in a glowing segment about taking her family camping as part of the Today Show´s ´Summer of Yes´ series. Megyn, her husband Douglas Brunt, and their three children Edward, seven, Yardley, six, and Thatcher, four, were filmed hiking, singing around the campfire, and touching worms. ´Sadly, I haven´t spent a lot of time outdoors since I moved to New York. I feel the
CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta unleashed a series of tweets throughout the day on Saturday blaming President Trump for the white supremacists rally and subsequently deadly violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. “These are the consequences of sanitizing white supremacists who seek to be rebranded as part of American ‘right.’ They are peddling hatred,” Acosta complained in his first tweet. Acosta made no attempt to look at his own employer or the rest of the news media in the mirror for the amount of free publicity they’ve given neo-Nazis over the last few years, but that would require a level-headed kind
Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) made it clear he has no intention to stop reminding people that President Trump is bigoted against Muslims. The congressman spoke with radio host and Mediaite contributor Dean Obeidallah, where they discussed the fallout from the recent bomb attack against a mosque in Minnesota. The Trump Administration has been noticeably reluctant to comment about the matter, and Gallego slammed the president for marginalizing Muslims around the country with his rhetoric instead of promising to protect them as citizens. “It’s disappointing that Trump doesn’t show any leadership – doesn’t even do attempt to do it on his own –
Chelsea Handler suggested on Friday that U.S. generals should carry out a military coup to replace President Trump, who she called “our idiot-in-chief.” “To all the generals surrounding our idiot-in-chief…the longer U wait to remove him, the longer UR name will appear negatively in history,” the TV personality wrote on Twitter. (Tweet) Handler’s comments come as the Trump administration, including the Defense Department, are on heightened alert over a rhetorical battle between President Trump and North Korea. Handler, a Hillary Clinton supporter who cried when the Democrat lost in November, frequently makes controversial statements about Trump. Earlier on Friday she
These pictures show the inside of Pyongyang´s 360ft deep metro system - that will double up as a nuclear bunker if war breaks out between North Korea and the US. Images show commuters using the world´s deepest underground train system which includes two lines with a combined length of 18 miles beneath North Korea´s capital. Construction work on the Pyongyang Metro started in 1968 and was inaugurated in 1973 by Kim Il Sung, the grandfather of current dictator Kim Jong-un. And while it is usually busy with commuters, the depth of the subway system means citizens could also use it as
Worst. President. Ever. Barack Obama executed the weakest economic growth in US history, the worst recovery since World War II, a genocide of Christians and minorities in the Middle East, and a disastrous foreign policy. The Democrat Party suffered historic losses under Barack Obama. (Chart) Democrats lost 1,042 state and federal Democratic posts during the Obama years including senators, representatives, governorships and the White House. (Tweet) But have faith Democrats– Barack is coming back to help rebuild the Democrat Party. The Hill reported: Former President Barack Obama will re-emerge on the national scene this fall, though Democrats expect him to
In many quarters of the American news media today, seasoned journalists seem incapable of pondering those parts of reality that don’t complement their political worldviews. It goes beyond “bias”—we’re all biased. This is negligence. Consider the trove of emails between FBI and Department of Justice officials published this week. The emails concern the June 27, 2016, meeting between former president Bill Clinton and then-attorney general Loretta Lynch. As readers may remember, Clinton paid an apparently impromptu visit to the attorney general aboard her DoJ plane while it was parked at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor airport. It was extremely improper for the two
Former President Obama will re-emerge on the national scene this fall, though Democrats expect him to do so with caution. One aide describes the beginning of a "delicate dance" that aims to put Obama in the Democratic fray, but prevent him from remaining the face of the party. Aides will huddle with Obama in the coming weeks to plot out what shape the former president´s fall schedule will take. Advisers close to him say that while he will play an active role in helping his party rebuild, much of his work will be behind the scenes. He is likely to
Democratic representative Keith Ellison said Friday that he believes Neil Gorsuch is an “illegitimate” Supreme Court justice. Speaking on a panel at Netroots Nation, a conference for progressives in Georgia, Ellison accused Republicans and Trump of assaulting the United States’ representative democracy and the independence of the judiciary. “I said the other day that I thought that Neil Gorsuch was an illegitimate justice,” Ellison asserted. “I had a great progressive come up to me and say, ‘Oh don’t say that, that’s what they say.´” “I said,’No, wait a minute. This guy escaped every rule that you’re supposed to go through
Col. David “Wil” Riggins, after a highly decorated Army career that included multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was on the verge of promotion to brigadier general in July 2013 when he got a phone call at the Pentagon from the Army’s Criminal Investigative Division to come in for a meeting. Once there, he learned that a blogger in Washington state had just accused him of raping her, when both were cadets at West Point in 1986. An investigation was underway. Riggins waived his right to an attorney and immediately gave a statement denying any sexual assault of the woman, Susan
When we last checked in on newly released information regarding that infamous tarmac meeting between then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton, we learned that the media wasn’t terribly interested in discussing the matter any more than absolutely necessary. But as reporters continue to dig through the trove of Justice Department emails obtained by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, we find out that there were some people who were very interested in talking. The people in question would be Lynch’s staff and they were having a flurry of discussions with
