The common element in nearly all the major New York Times and Washington Post stories about President Donald Trump this week is that they are based on source documents the outlets cannot authenticate, do not possess, admit are partial, and refuse to share. Friday’s supposed “bombshell” stories follow the same pattern. The Times reports that Trump told the visiting Russians that former FBI director James Comey was a “nut job,” and that firing him had eased “pressure” in his ability to conduct foreign policy — though the Times takes Trump to mean the legal pressure of the investigation. (That spin makes
In their effort to impugn Trump, the Times and the Post violate the most basic journalistic standards. Publishing parts of a document that you do not possess and cannot verify, and timing the release to cause maximum political damage (right after the president leaves the country), is not investigative journalism. It is political propaganda.
It is the mirror image of what the Los Angeles Times did in April 2008, when it published a story referring to a speech then-State Senator Barack Obama gave at a farewell celebration for radical Palestinian-American academic Rashid Khalidi in 2003. The Times was given a video of the speech, but refused to publish the video. Instead, it offered a mere summary, raising suspicions that the Times had sanitized the event to protect Obama’s presidential campaign.
Michael Goodwin of the New York Post senses what many readers sense, and that is the flip in American politics. While the devils in the press portrayed as a defeat President Trump´s debt ceiling compromise, the president brought both sides together. The vote was 316 to 90 in the House, and 80 to 17 in the Senate. (Snip)The hurricanes Harvey and Irma have brought clarity to Washington. The people of Houston and elsewhere in Texas showed a cooperation that shamed the politicians. Guys in boats were trolling their neighborhoods searching for people to rescue. It was Mark 4:19 time. Not familiar with the
As part of FL CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team), we are forced to reposition outside of the storm surge area. As a consequence during the logistical move I will be out of the loop for most of the afternoon and evening. We will respond to recovery efforts from positions East of SWFL. Hopefully, I’ll be able to check back in and give updates later tonight. To ensure continuance of communication, CTH has auto-scheduled posts set up throughout the next week which will run automatically without any need for human data entry. [ie. the website is secure and will function as
Useful Link - Florida Disaster Org- Useful Link Ground Report. Many well prepared people are now facing a crisis of a severely dangerous storm surge warning. CTH readers (Hi Ziiggii) will well note the Hurricane challenges specific to the West Coast and Southwest Gulf Coast community. These unique challenges that have not been tested in 50+ years – Well folks, this is it. The 130 MPH on-shore winds are timed to arrive with the incoming tide overnight on Sunday into Monday morning. Does anyone recall the media declaring Hillary a Nazi after she said this just a few years earlier? Were the late-night talk show hosts mocking and ridiculing her? Were there protests in the streets? Members of Congress declaring her unfit to be President? NO. Because the entire immigrant issue is nothing more than a tool to divide Americans and Hillary Clinton as a member of the Establishment is allowed to simply say what needs to be said at any given time to get elected. In 2016 that didn’t work. Donald Trump told the truth. He was viciously attacked for it
Readers of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch who might have expected well-researched analysis in an editorial on Labor Day should be sadly disappointed. "Mueller finds alarming signs, and sleazy people, in collusion probe" was one of the most error-prone editorials in the land. The editorial is an example of how newspapers have fallen in to disrepute worthy of a brothel. Shall we begin deciphering it? I draw on 27 years of experience in writing editorials.
Unfortunately the latest update from the National Hurricane Center shows another slight shift westward putting the South and Central West Coast of Florida in the path of immediate concern. –ADVISORY UPDATE HERE– If you’ve followed along you might have noticed the ‘worst case scenario’ for the West coast of Florida. –Outlined Here– However, I want to draw your attention to the forecast timing; because there’s a remarkable synergy lining up with Hurricane Donna from 1960. First here’s the latest NHC forecast map and times: (Map)Timing is critical here. Between the two “M”‘s [Max Winds] (2pm Sun, and 2am Mon) you might
Smart move by the Trump administration, Rex Tillerson and Nikki Haley. After showing the United Nations Security Council members the proposed resolution against North Korea last Tuesday, they are calling for a vote this Monday. China and Russia are already on record saying additional economic sanctions would be needed; but also pushing the request for diplomatic talks more prominently. UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United States called for a vote Monday on a U.N. resolution that would impose the toughest-ever sanctions on North Korea, a move that could lead to a showdown with the country’s biggest trading partner China and its
The 11:00am Hurricane Center Update shows a slightly weaker Hurricane Irma, with continued likely forecasts slightly West of central Florida. Mandatory evacuations of barrier islands are now underway on both coasts. Irma has the potential to be a topography changing event for the Southwest coast line of Florida. At 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC), the distinct eye of Hurricane Irma was located near latitude 22.0 North, longitude 75.3 West. Irma is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue for the next day or so with a decrease in forward speed. A turn
OK, I confess it. I love football. God help me, I love it so! I played in high school and college and I love the New England Patriots. The sport has long been a sanctuary from partisan politics. If one is a Patriots fan, it doesn’t matter whether other Patriots fans are Democrats or Republicans. Social class and race don’t matter. The main thing that unites us is a burning hatred of the tyrannical Roger Goodell! And as Patriots fans, we have learned some foreign languages. For instance, “Gronkowski” is Polish for “touchdown.” (Snip)There are a couple of problems here.
Donald Trump is president today because he was seen as a doer not a talker. Among the most common compliments paid him in 2016 was, “At least he gets things done!” And it was exasperation with a dithering GOP Congress, which had failed to enact his or its own agenda, that caused Trump to pull the job of raising the debt ceiling away from Republican contractors Ryan & McConnell, and give it to Pelosi & Schumer. Hard to fault Trump. Over seven months, Congress showed itself incapable of repealing Obamacare, though the GOP promised this as its first priority in three
Luis Gutiérrez -- a Democrat congressman who never served in the military -- had the temerity to call Marine general a disgrace to the uniform. What uniform did Luis Gutiérrez ever wear? Girl Scout? Gutiérrez is a spiteful ward-heeler from Chicago who kissed up to Mayor Harold Washington for a seat in Congress. The congressman attacked Marine General John Francis Kelly. General Kelly earned: The Defense Distinguished Service Medal The Defense Superior Service Medal The Legion of Merit (2) with Valor Plus a whole bunch of other awards for his uniform. Gutiérrez didn´t receive a uniform. You know, I was not much of a soldier, but at least I served.
CBS’s Charlie Rose is sharing snippets of an interview with President Trump’s former political strategist, Steve Bannon. Two video segments below: (Video) Regardless of agreement or disagreement with the positions espoused therein; after watching these segments I’m left asking myself: what exactly is the value here? Who or what is the beneficiary of these interviews? What exactly is the purpose? (Video)
It cannot be overstated how eagerly the Democrats want to take back the White House in 2020. The Democrats face many obstacles in this effort, but the greatest threat is the fierce internal divisions within the party. Two of the leading prospective presidential candidates, Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), have begun national fundraising operations. Former Vice President Joe Biden has been busy building a national email list to communicate directly with his supporters, and Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.) has already announced his presidential candidacy. The Democratic Party does not just need a new leader, but a new
Sexual harassment investigations at Fox News had on-air hosts coming and going on Friday. The network has cut loose Eric Bolling, who was suspended on Aug. 5, and has also canceled his daily program “Fox News Specialists.” The law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, investigated allegations that Bolling used his cellphone to send unsolicited photos of male genitalia to current and former female colleagues at the network. The firm has been handling harassment claims at the 21st Century Fox unit. “Fox News Channel is canceling the ‘Specialists,’ and Eric Bolling and Fox have agreed to part ways amicably,” a Fox News
On the same day that Fox News announced that it had “agreed to part ways amicably” with suspended conservative host Eric Bolling, Bolling’s son Eric, Jr. was found dead in Boulder, Colorado. (snip) A strange anomaly in this story is that Yashar Ali, the HuffPost freelancer who wrote the August 4 article alleging that Eric Bolling was guilty of inappropriate behavior years earlier, claims to have been the first one to break the news of Chase Bolling’s death. For example, in a HuffPost article on September 9 time stamped 2:31 P.M. E.T., Hayley Miller writes “Yashar Ali, the HuffPost freelancer
The news that President Trump abandoned Republicans to strike a deal with congressional Democrats on a three-month extension of the debt limit yielded a predictable response from his predictable cheerleaders: It was brilliant and typically shrewd for the author of “The Art of the Deal” to take the very first offer the Democrats made and ask for nothing in return. Less obsequious observers on the right claimed this was the long-prophesied moment. The seventh seal had been broken. Donald Trump was “pivoting” at last. “The pivot is real and it’s spectacular!” proclaimed Ben Domenech, the publisher of The Federalist. In the lexicon
Keep these numbers in mind: 316 to 90 and 80 to 17. They were the lopsided votes in the House and Senate in support of the deal President Trump made with Democratic leaders on storm aid, the debt limit and government funding. Remarkably, all the no voters were Republicans. The numbers shout that we are witnessing a potential turning point in the Trump presidency, one that could further shake up Washington and rattle the calcified political parties. Frustrated by the failure of GOP majorities in both chambers to pass his agenda, Trump followed through on threats to work with Democrats. Signs suggest it was
Yashar Ali reported Saturday that, Eric Bolling’s Son, Eric Chase, died last night. At this time the circumstances remain unclear. Chase, was 19 years old and Bolling’s only child. “Very sad news, Eric Bolling’s son, who was only 19, died last night,” said Ali. “By all accounts, Eric was incredibly devoted to his son. Heartbreaking.” (Snip) A source close to Eric Bolling also confirmed the news to Mediaite. A statement from Fox News is expected soon. Eric Bolling had been a rising star at Fox News, where he had hosted the now canceled television program, The Specialists and was a regular
Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said in an interview broadcast Sunday that while she is "done" being a candidate, she is not leaving politics. "Is your political career over?" Jane Pauley asked Clinton on "CBS Sunday Morning." "Yes," Clinton responded. "As an active politician, it´s over. "I am done with being a candidate," she added. "But I am not done with politics, because I literally believe that our country´s future is at stake." Clinton´s comments come days before the release her new book, "What Happened," which accounts her experience in the 2016 presidential election. The former Democratic nominee reflects
New episodes of CBS´s Star Trek: Discovery are inspired by the post-Trump America, with the Klingons set to represent Trump supporters. The upcoming season of the show will tell the story of a war between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire, which will be a loose allegory for the 2016 election, Entertainment Weekly reported Thursday. "The allegory is that we really started working on the show in earnest around the time the election was happening," showrunner Aaron Harberts told EW. "The Klingons are going to help us really look at certain sides of ourselves and our country.
A lawyer in Texas who disagrees with the Trump administration’s plan to reform how accusations of of sexual assault are adjudicated on campus said he would “be ok” if Education Secretary Betsy DeVos were sexually assaulted. Rob Ranco, a partner at the Carlson Law Firm, suggested Mrs. DeVos does not fully grasp how serious of a crime rape is, and that she might come to a different policy conclusion if she did. “I’m not wishing for it… but I’d be ok if #BetsyDevos was sexually assaulted,” Mr. Ranco said in a tweet on Friday evening. “Perhaps Betsy doesn’t understand how
Hillary Clinton takes yet another dig at Donald Trump in new new memoir, saying the ´flagrantly sexist´ candidate won the 2016 election. Clinton´s memoir settles scores with a range of competitors and opponents, while providing unsparing language for Trump, who Clinton complains stalked her on a debate stage to the point where it made her ´skin crawl´ and she wanted to say ´back up, you creep.´ In another excerpt reported by the New York Times, Clinton says sexism ´played a role´ in the election where she suffered a historic defeat. ´This has to be said,´ Clinton writes. 'Sexism and misogyny played a role in the 2016
President Trump´s administration has sided with a Christian baker who refused to make a gay couple´s wedding cake because he claimed their marriage went against his religious beliefs. Forcing Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Denver, to bake a wedding cake for two men would be a violation of his constitutional rights, the Department of Justice declared on Thursday. The baker is challenging a Colorado law that says he was wrong to have turned away Charlie Craig and David Mullins, who wanted a cake to celebrate their nuptials in 2012. Phillips refused because his religion does not support
Fraud is rampant and “huge” for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, a former official with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency alleges. Under DACA, nearly 800,000 illegal aliens were given temporary protected status and work permits to remain in the United States. Experts have told Breitbart Texas that during the Obama Administration, background screening was lax. In an interview with LifeZette, former USCIS manager of the agency’s investigative unit, Matt O’Brien, alleged that the fraud rate for DACA is roughly “40 to 50 percent” and potentially even “higher”: “Based on what I had seen and what I
