The former chairwoman of the Federal Election Commission, who famously eyed regulating the politics of conservative outlets like the Drudge Report, has joined an advocacy group funded by George Soros and run by his son. Ann Ravel is the first fellow listed with the California advocacy group New America. Her fellowship began in March and pays a $30,000 stipend. "We want to help amplify the work of each of our fellows, both to help them better articulate and reach their target audience, and to raise their profiles as change-makers," according to the group. Since leaving the FEC, Ravel has continued to

Were Democrats Working With The Russians?

Because of left-wing outrage and media obsession, the nation has focused on whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russians to influence the American election. In the hype and hysteria, we have been distracted from an obvious issue. If, as the Obama Administration claimed, the Russians merely wanted to undermine American trust in the democratic process, would not they work both sides against each other? It is looking more and more like that may be the case. To understand the tangled details around Donald Trump, Jr.´s meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, we first have to examine the Magnitsky Act. That

The Senate will defer consideration of the GOP healthcare plan that would partially repeal and replace Obamacare until Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., returns to work following a procedure to remove a blood clot from above his left eye, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a statement late Saturday. After wishing him a "speedy recovery," McConnell, R-Ky., added: "While John is recovering, the Senate will continue our work on legislative items and nominations, and will defer consideration of the Better Care Act." About two hours earlier, McCain´s office revealed that he would be spending a week in his home state

The Trump campaign and fundraising committees raised $13.9 million between the start of April and the end of June. The numbers are close to three quarters of a million more than in the first three months of 2017. Donations have continued to grow in spite of the administration´s struggles with nearly constant accusations that the campaign colluded with Russia during campaign season. The campaign and two joint fundraising committees (Trump Victory and the Trump Make America Great Again Committee) fundraised for both Trump and the Republican National Committee. Three donations stood out in the most recent numbers from the Federal Election

The White House began releasing comments it received concerning the election commission on Thursday this week, and by Saturday had published several thousand pages worth of emails sent by individuals for and against the administration’s controversial request for voter information. None of the emails were censored, meaning anyone who downloads them off the White House website can see each commenter’s name

Donald Trump Jr.’s e-mails discredit the ‘nothingburger’ argument the president’s supporters have been advancing for months. The Russia scandal has entered a new phase and there’s no going back. For six months, the White House claimed that this scandal was nothing more than innuendo about Trump-campaign collusion with Russia in meddling in the 2016 election. Innuendo for which no concrete evidence had been produced. Yes, there were several meetings with Russian officials, some only belatedly disclosed. But that is circumstantial evidence at best. Meetings tell you nothing unless you know what happened in them. We didn’t. Some of these were

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has told governors from across the US to ditch the "America First" motto. His National Governors´ Association speech in Rhode Island on Friday was a first for a Canadian prime minister. In his speech, Mr Trudeau urged US governors to embrace their neighbour to the north and avoid protectionism. It is all a part of his aggressive strategy to promote a "thinner border" ahead of vital trade talks with the US renegotiating the Nafta treaty. President Donald Trump has made "America First" his mantra, shaping his policies on trade and immigration. But Mr Trudeau, who is

The White House would be required to hold at least a couple on-camera press briefings each week if a Democratic lawmaker musters support for a House bill being offered. Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut introduced the Free Press Act on Thursday, a legislative proposal that aims to increase transparency within the Trump administration by mandating two on-camera press briefings per week. “The White House has begun to dramatically, and in an historically unprecedented way, reduce the media and therefore the American people’s access to the thinking of the president,” Mr. Himes said in a statement. “And that’s not healthy.”

WASHINGTON — The Republican-led House decisively approved a defense policy bill on Friday that declares climate change a national security threat, demands rigorous oversight of the Pentagon’s cyber operations and rejects the Trump administration’s bid to close military bases. Lawmakers voted 344-81 on Friday to pass the sweeping legislation. The bill authorizes $696 billion in defense spending for the 2018 fiscal year, including nearly $30 billion more for core Pentagon operations than President Donald Trump requested. Yet defense hawks pushing the hardest for the big boost in spending still face an uphill battle. For the spending increases to materialize, Congress
