WASHINGTON — President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting. “I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.” Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.” The conversation, during a May 10 meeting — the day after he fired Mr. Comey
Comments: Here we go again! The person who leaked this alleged information should be fired immediately. The investigation within their own White House should be expedited because it is totally outrageous and appalling. It is chilling and horrifying that he can´t even trust his own inner circle.
I see no real source in this story other than an unnamed official reading it to the Slimes and another unnamed official verifying it. The paper of record is skating on very thin ice and should try to report the news instead of making it. all this stuff is doing what the Democrats say the Russians are doing, undermining the peoples faith in our electoral system.
Funny but the air is being let out of this "bombshell" for the very reason that Comey has his mouthpiece out there saying things that CONFIRM what true weirdo that FBI Director really was!!! Splat back on the anti-Trumpers again.
Get rid of every Bushie in your WH, Mr. President.
I´m hoping while POYUS is overseas the whole snake pit of vipers is cleared out with appropriate changes made in staff and advisers. It´s probably too much to hope for that the son-in-law be lost in the shuffle. But it would be great f he could come home to a better situation than he left. MAGA.
Why on earth is this news? James Comey was, at the time of the alleged remark, a private citizen and, a little indiscreet or not, President Trump had every right to say whatever he wanted about him to whomever he wanted.
If all of these silly leaked remarks are indeed true what is the motivation of the leakers? Where does the pettiness, the cowardice, the immaturity come from to do such a thing?
And, by the way, it appears that Mr. Comey is a ´nut job´.
Perhaps early on Trump went through a learning curve regarding how every utterance would be spun against him but by now, or the time of Comey´s dismissal he would have to be a blundering idiot to have said this. Blundering idiots don´t build skyscrapers or golf courses.
Meanwhile, the same NYT applauded the hollowing out of our military, America´s unilateral nuclear weapon reduction "deal" with the Russians, the selling of 20% of our uranium to the Russians, etc. etc. ad nausea. Frankly, I don´t give a damn what Mr. Trump "said" to the Russians. Mr. Trump will never weaken us militarily like Mr. Obama did.
these stories are getting a bit outre.. it´s almost like DT is telling a separate story, that is identifiable, to each of his possible leaks.. thereby finding out where the leak is coming from.. i don´t think i´m giving anything away here.. these seeds have been spread by now.. DT just has to reap what he´s sown..
Whether true or not, it is believable because it sounds like something he might say. That is going to be his biggest problem going forward, and his enemies will take full advantage of it. Remember when he promised, "I will be so presidential you will get sick of it"? Sigh.
It´s time the American people show these sleazoids who is in charge. We need to intimidate them at every turn, not turn the other cheek and justice ... what´s that?. As for the pansy Republicans in congress, you´re either with us or your with Fake news...your choice. I remember when President George W said that... it was one of his best moments as a president. It showed strength and courage and that´s what people want right now. We need to get loud and demonstrate the offices of all FAKE News. Peacefully of course. Send in the Hell´s Angels, the seals, whatever it takes. But first there needs to be a leader or leaders to organize this the way we did for the Tea Party. I don´t care where the leadership comes from, but that person has to appear soon.
This is not going away because of Mueller´s involvement. In fact, it may even get worse. North Korea could send off a ballistic missile that hits the west coast and the press won´t bother to report it because they are so fixated on destroying Trump.
The FBI’s top lawyer is allegedly under investigation for purportedly leaking classified material featured in a Reuters report last year that disclosed a top-secret U.S. surveillance program built by Yahoo Inc, according to several government officials with knowledge of the investigation. The Reuters report disclosed the software program developed by Yahoo Inc. for the U.S. government that allowed the intelligence community to search Yahoo emails containing specific characters or phrases. The U.S. government has not publicly acknowledged the program. James A. Baker, the general counsel for the FBI, is allegedly under a criminal investigation for an apparent connection to the
The wife of a former union executive and a former vice president at Fiat Chrysler have been indicted for allegedly violating federal labor law in connection to a bribery investigation. The Department of Justice announced on Wednesday that federal prosecutors filed charges against Monica Morgan, the wife of the late United Auto Workers Vice President General Holiefield, and former Fiat Chrysler Vice President Alphons Iacobelli for violating the Labor Management Relations Act. Iacobelli, who was in charge of negotiating with the UAW, allegedly directed $1.2 million to union leaders in the form of jewelry, travel, furniture, and other goods, according
Congressional leaders are interested in conducting their own independent investigation into a growing scandal surrounding IT staffers working for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.), who are accused of stealing sensitive computer equipment from House lawmakers´ offices. (Snip) Wasserman Schultz´s testimony is of particular interest as she has come under fire for keeping Awan on the House payroll even after information about his actions became public and not cooperating with the investigation. Lawmakers expressed their concern that some of the information potentially stolen by these staffers could compromise congressional officials. "In addition to the criminal case that is now underway, Congress needs

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R–S.C.) said Thursday that he is writing a bill that will limit President Trump´s ability to fire the special counsel investigating Russian election meddling. Graham said his bill, which he will introduce next week, will block a president from firing the special counsel without a federal judge’s approval if that counsel is investigating the president or his administration, according to The Wall Street Journal. The South Carolina Republican has a Democratic cowriter on the legislation in Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.), who said on MSNBC earlier this week that he had "concerns" about Trump attempting to oust Robert
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer said he was inspired by the speech Senator John McCain delivered shortly after his cancer diagnosis. Schumer repeated McCain´s call for Republicans and Democrats to work together. SCHUMER: First, let me say it´s been a long, long road for both sides. Each side had sincere convictions, and we´re at this point. So I would suggest -- I want to say three things. First, I would suggest we turn the page, we turn -- it´s time to turn the page. I would say to my dear friend, the Majority Leader, we are not celebrating. We are relieved.
WASHINGTON — Embattled Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz has avoided facing any media since her law enforcement arrested her former IT staffer Imran Awan Tuesday on bank fraud charges. Wasserman Schultz, who walked down the House Capitol steps late Wednesday afternoon following remarks she made on the floor, caught site of The Daily Caller’s reporter and nervously turned around and ran back up the steps with her staffer in tow. The Miami Herald reported Thursday night that her spokesman told a reporter Wednesday, as she walked to the floor of the House, that she would not answer questions about
Eleven-month-old Charlie Gard, whose short life captured the hearts of the world, has died after suffering from a rare genetic condition which has seen him in hospital for the majority of his short life. Charlie´s parents, Connie Yates and Chris Gard, fought a lengthy and emotional legal battle to take their severely ill baby son to the US for treatment, which was denied by judges. Charlie´s mother, Connie, said: ´Our beautiful little boy has gone, we are so proud of you Charlie.´ Yesterday courts denied his parents the chance to take him home to die. The plight of Charlie Gard has seen hundreds
Retired Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer said Thursday on Tucker Carlson Tonight that there is now evidence that then-Democratic National Chairwoman and current Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz used Imran Awan for "malevolent activities" and "manipulative things" against Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary race. (Snip) Now the FBI has rolled in and let me give you the big take away here, it looks like a foreign intelligence service may be the recipient of all this. Something called the Muslim Brotherhood. INGRAHAM: Whoa, whoa, whoa. The Muslim Brotherhood and Debbie? They are really going to say it´s a conspiracy theory now.
Trump and his critics are attacking each other, failing to focus on the only story that counts: the welfare of the United States. The American political system has never quite seen anything like the current opposition to President Trump and his unusual reaction to it. We are no longer in the customary political landscape. Usually, the out-of-power opposition — in this case, the Democratic party — offers most of the criticism and all of the alternative policies in order to win in the next election. Instead, Trump has an entire circle of diverse critics shooting at him. But they just
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said his vote Friday against “skinny repeal” of Obamacare was a vote for bipartisanship. (Snip) McCain said in a statement after casting the decisive “no” vote in the wee hours of Friday morning: “I’ve stated time and time again that one of the major failures of Obamacare was that it was rammed through Congress by Democrats on a strict-party line basis without a single Republican vote. We should not make the mistakes of the past that has led to Obamacare’s collapse.” But it is not as if Democrats were excluded from the repeal effort. Throughout the past seven
Key lawmakers are threatening to cancel the authorization of sensitive U.S. spy operations until congressional leaders investigate efforts by former top Obama administration officials to leak highly classified national security information in what many believe was a targeted campaign to undermine the Trump administration, according to senior congressional sources familiar with the situation. Key Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee are pressuring Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R., Va.) to investigate former senior Obama administration officials believed to be responsible for these anti-Trump leaks, including former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power, National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and National Security Council official Ben
On Wednesday night, I received a phone call from Anthony Scaramucci, the new White House communications director. He wasn’t happy. Earlier in the night, I’d tweeted, citing a “senior White House official,” that Scaramucci was having dinner at the White House with President Trump, the First Lady, Sean Hannity, and the former Fox News executive Bill Shine. It was an interesting group, and raised some questions. Was Trump getting strategic advice from Hannity? Was he considering hiring Shine? But Scaramucci had his own question—for me. “Who leaked that to you?” he asked. I said I couldn’t give him that information.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz employed Pakistani IT staffers and brothers who were paid over $4 million dollars over the course of their employment even though they were accused of a cyber-security breach. Imran Awan was arrested as he attempted to flee the U.S. after wiring approximately $300,000 to Pakistan. Fox News is the only cable network covering this huge scandal. When Imran Awan was arrested he was carrying $12,000 in cash on him. His wife was carrying $12,000 of cash when she fled the country too. Imran and his Muslim brothers, Abid and Jamal accessed unauthorized computers while acting as IT
Hillary Clinton is to call her new memoir about being beaten by Donald Trump ´What Happened´, her publisher announced Thursday. Her photograph will not feature on the cover - and she will call herself Hillary Rodham Clinton. She ran as Hillary Clinton. The memoir, published by Simon & Schuster promises to deliver the story of her defeat ´now free from the constraints of politics´. It will finally break the pattern of months by containing details of her ´mistakes´ - but firmly blame James Comey and the Russians. One friend of Clinton told The Hill it would be a ´bombshell´. The
President Trump responded to the Senate Republican´s inability to pass a skinny version of Obamacare´s repeal the only way he knows how: Twitter. (Tweet) Senate Republicans weren´t able to muster enough votes to pass their skinny repeal of Obamacare. Senators voted 49-51 shortly before 2:00 a.m. Friday morning. Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) cast a surprise "no" vote. He was joined by GOP Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine). The bill, titled the Health Care Freedom Act, would have repealed the individual insurance mandate. It would also have repealed the employer mandate for eight years.
A transgender former Navy SEAL has spoken out against President Trump’s ban on transgender military members, saying he is preventing soldiers from doing their service. “Let´s meet face to face and you tell me I´m not worthy,” Kristin Beck, a retired SEAL Team 6 member who has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, told Business Insider. Beck was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal during her time in the service, when she kept her gender identity a secret, according to a 2015 profile in GQ. The President said that transgender service in the military causes
During a press conference on Friday, Senate Minority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) praised Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Susan Collins (R-ME) for their votes against the skinny Obamacare repeal and stated McCain’s vote showed the same courage he showed during his service in the Vietnam War. Schumer said that he and McCain “have been friends for a very long time, ever since the Gang of Eight, which we put together. And I have not seen a senator who speaks truth to power as strongly, as well, and as frequently as John McCain. The very same courage
WASHINGTON -- The senator who was defeated by President Obama in his 2008 quest for the White House stepped in to cast the deciding vote to kill Senate Republicans´ last-gasp effort to repeal Obama´s signature healthcare legislation before the summer recess. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) were expected to vote against the "skinny repeal" -- a bare-bones repeal of only the individual and employer mandates as well as the medical device tax; the latter has drawn bipartisan criticism over the years. Vice President Mike Pence was at the Capitol, ready to cast a tie-breaking vote as he had to
President Donald Trump’s Wednesday announcement on Twitter that transgender men and women will not be allowed to serve in the military “in any capacity” was not a complete surprise: Last month, Defense Secretary James Mattis announced that the military was hitting the pause button on an Obama-era plan to welcome openly transgender people into the military. But the announcement was a legal land mine. The Trump administration may soon learn that singling out a class of people for exclusion violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law. And as to those transgender soldiers already serving openly, any effort
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) today warned President Trump against firing either Attorney General Jeff Sessions or special counsel Robert Mueller, saying he plans to introduce bipartisan judicial review legislation to protect the former FBI director and future special counsels. Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill that he´s "100 percent behind Jeff Sessions," who´s been the target of various slings from Trump over the past week, and referred to a Wednesday tweet from Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa): Everybody in D.C. Shld b warned that the agenda for the judiciary Comm is set for rest of 2017. Judges first
President Trump has just announced via Twitter that he has fired Reince Priebus from the position of Chief-of-Staff and has replaced him with DHS Secretary John Kelly. It would appear GOPe Priebus’s inability to guide ObamaCare was the final straw. (Tweets) Perhaps this also provides the opening to move HR McMaster out of the NSC and into the DHS position…. interesting development.
President Donald Trump has been attacking his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, daily. There have been brutal attacks on Twitter, in media interviews, and during speeches. Conventional wisdom is that Trump is getting ready to fire Sessions or hoping Sessions resigns. Conventional wisdom also assured everyone that Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide, the only question being by how large a margin. Trump´s complaint is that his attorney general should not have recused himself from the Russia hacking hoax and that he is dragging his feet on long overdue investigations and prosecutions: Deep State leaks; unmasking; DNC and Clinton collusion
Filmmaker Michael Moore says he tried to Hillary Clinton that Michigan and Wisconsin voters might lean toward Donald Trump before the 2016 presidential election but claims no one would listen. Moore appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night to promote his upcoming one-man Broadway show, The Terms of My Surrender. But the Michigan resident took time to discuss the current political climate, saying he ´never wanted to be more wrong in my life´ when warning people about Trump voters. ´I was trying to warn the rest of the country, out here, people who voted for Obama
