Vote Allowing Arkansas Executions To Proceed

In what will undoubtedly be a memorable first major tie-breaking vote as a Supreme Court Judge, Neil Gorsuch cast the deciding vote last night to allow Arkansas to begin executing a group of 8 death-row inmates. The decision came after attorneys for the State of Arkansas sought an expedited process to allow for the executions to proceed before their lethal-injection drugs expire at the end of April. Per Bloomberg: In a series of orders Thursday night, the high court cleared the state to execute Ledell Lee, one of eight convicted murderers that Arkansas has been trying to put to death before

It is time to set up a fast-track appeals process on death sentence cases. Get it over with quickly.
As it stands, lawyers (paid with our tax dollars) drag out the appeals, nickel and diming the system, then arguing that the delay is unfair.

It´s silliness to say that the expiration date on execution drugs mean they´re useless after that date. What will happen? You´ll die if you use them? Heaven forbid. It´s just a way of having an idea how old the drugs are, but for the most part, the drugs are effective well beyond the expire date, which is designed to make you purchase more drugs.

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is wrapping up his review of nearly two dozen national monuments targeted for downsizing or elimination by the Trump administration. By next week, Zinke is supposed to send recommendations to President Donald Trump on the future of those land monuments, which were created or expanded by presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Zinke has already said he´ll recommend no changes to five monuments, leaving 17 under review, from the California desert to the woods of Maine. Environmental groups say more than 2.7 million people submitted comments to the Interior Department on the monuments review, and that that

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke ended his four-day visit to Utah with a press conference Wednesday at a cloudy airport in Kanab, flanked by U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart and surrounded by a tight huddle of state and local politicians as he talked to reporters about the prospects he might support rescinding or diminishing the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments. President Trump should have left well enough alone. His Monday denunciation of costumed sheet-wearers and Nazi wanna-bes could have cleared the way for Americans of all stripes to focus their outrage on things that matter more than presidential words. That would be the violence that is infecting our politics and the frightening acceptance of it as the new normal. But Trump’s defiance yesterday is sure to keep the media pot boiling over his rhetoric instead of an ominous reality. Namely, that real protestors don’t carry baseball bats, crowbars and mace. A crowd of ignorant protesters pulled down a bronze Confederate statue that stood before a county government building in Durham, North Carolina — the angry national backlash to the Charlottesville brouhaha over the Robert E. Burning books written by those who used to own slaves? At the very least, museums will have to go. The problem with revising history based on a standard of “feeling offensive” — as this anti-Confederate craze is rooted — is that someone,
