Climate Marches Aren´t About
Science — They´re About Trump

Investor´s Business Daily, by Craig Rucker and David Rothbard

Organizers promised that hundreds of thousands would participate in an April 22 March for Science planned for hundreds of cities worldwide and an April 29 People´s Climate March in Washington, DC. These events have no more to do with science or climate change than do UN programs or the Paris climate treaty. Their own leaders make that perfectly clear. A climate website asserts that marchers intend to mark President Trump´s 100th day in office "with a massive demonstration that shows our resistance is not going to wane." They intend to "block Trump´s entire fossil fuel agenda," with Berkeley-style tantrums and riots, most

FTA: ´´Developed nations must de-carbonize, de-industrialize, and reduce their growth, job creation and living standards – while sending trillions of dollars over the coming decades to ruling elites in developing countries that are not required to decrease oil, gas and coal use or greenhouse gas emissions.´´

Let´em march. They can march right into the freakin ocean. 25 years ago that other whack job Al Gore said that in 20 years the oceans will rise and NYC will be under water, he said that the polar ice caps will be melted and polar bears would be extinct. Well today the oceans are the same, the polar ice caps are still there the polar bears are thriving and NYC IS NOT under water. The only thing that has changed is that Al Gore has made over a 100 million dollars pushing this fraud. Think about it, the two biggest frauds in our history were both started by the sick Democratic Party. Obamacare and Global warming, now called climate change. Do you get it yet, wake up.

Were it not for fossil fuels, none of these nit-wits would be able to show up at the marches. They would be busy gathering nuts, bugs and berries to eat, and pounding their animal skin clothes on rocks down by the river for cleaning, and gathering branches for the fires to keep them warm. Ah - but perhaps fire will be disallowed too in their future world. And it´s not that I would deny them their desire to eat from the land, eschew modern conveniences and shiver in the dark, but they want to impose these things on me. If you deindustrialize and de-carbonize the Western world, where do they think the TRILLIONS they want to send to underdeveloped nations are going to come from? And what are those imaginary trillions going to buy? I cannot understand why these people call themselves ´progressives´.

If only they understood the carbon cycle. It is so logical and beautifully simple. Carbon is essential for every living thing to exist. Trying to remove carbon is an exercise in futility and eventual extinction. Don´t mess with mother nature.

Global Warming: The Imminent

It´s summer 2017 and the Arctic was supposed to be ice-free, hurricanes were going to be more frequent and more deadly, and sea levels should be rising alarmingly. Al Gore swore in his 2006 science fiction movie, "An Inconvenient Truth," that within a decade there would be a "true planetary emergency." "Unless we act boldly and quickly to deal with the underlying causes of global warming, our world will undergo a string of terrible catastrophes," said Gore in the movie´s introduction. The grand storyteller also predicted in 2011 that "there will be no more snows" on Mt. Kilimanjaro "within the decade." Four years

On Monday the Congressional Budget Office released its cost estimate of the Republican Senate Better Care Reconciliation Act. CBO calculated that the proposed bill would reduce the deficit by $321 billion over the next decade. That is welcome news. Less welcome, however, was CBO´s conclusion that the Senate bill would result in an additional 15 million uninsured in 2018 due to a lack of penalties. By 2026, CBO reports 22 million more Americans would be uninsured, primarily due to lower Medicaid coverage. No matter that the number of Americans on the Obamacare exchanges is shrinking due to higher prices and

How Seattle´s Minimum-Wage Disaster

Minimum Wage: When Seattle embarked on its progressive path to force up the minimum wage in the city, the results were predictable: Those it was intended to help would be hurt the most. Will policy-makers never learn? It´s both sad and tragic, but even policies passed with the best of intentions can hurt those they´re intended to help. So it is with Seattle´s minimum wage. Last August, we asked: "What will happen when Seattle raises its minimum to $15 an hour in 2017? It could get ugly." Unfortunately, we were right. Economists at the University of Washington looked at the recent increases in

Senate Republicans released a revised version of their ObamaCare repeal bill on Monday, adding in a provision designed to prevent people from gaming the insurance system. That, of course, quickly drew attacks from Democrats who seem to have forgotten what ObamaCare does. After having conceded to Democrats that the federal government should ban insurance denials based on pre-existing conditions, the GOP replacement bill needed some mechanism to prevent people from simply waiting until after they get sick to buy insurance. The House bill included a 30% premium penalty for those who went more than a few months without coverage in

Scandals: The past few days have seen several interesting developments on the supposed Trump/Russia scandal. But instead of causing further damage to President Trump, they´re making the entire story look like a multilayered smear campaign by Trump´s enemies. Way to go, minimum-wage advocates! Working from the absurd idea that if higher wages are good for individual workers, it must be socially beneficial to have government order all employers to pay their workers more, progressives and other leftists have had extraordinary success in forcing small businesses to pay higher minimum wages. Big Mac´s stock is up 27% this year. Why? Pushed by concerns over a rising minimum wage, the fast-food chain is replacing human

Entitlements: Shreds. Guts. Slashes. Eviscerates. Imperils. Look at any story about the Senate health bill, and you´ll see words like those describe its supposed cuts to Medicaid. What if we told you there are no such cuts? First, the Senate bill doesn´t change Medicaid at all for three years. That means spending on the program will continue to grow, just as it is slated to now — at an annual 5% clip — until 2021. What does that mean in dollar terms? Under the Senate´s "shredding" reform, Medicaid´s budget in 2021 will be $85 billion bigger than it is this year, and

Actor Johnny Depp took the prize last week, when at a film festival in England he asked, "Can we bring Trump here," and followed that by asking "When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?" The audience roared with cheers and laughter. Depp later "apologized," saying it was a "bad joke" that "did not come out as intended." But

As soon as the details emerged, critics of the Senate bill point to the various ways that it wasn´t as good as ObamaCare. After their embarrassing and expensive loss in the Georgia special election — which was supposed to be a referendum on President Trump — Democrats might take some solace in the fact that Trump´s approval ratings are still in the cellar. The latest IBD/TIPP poll has him at 37% approval. Then again, maybe that´s as unrealistic as their hopes of winning a traditionally Republican district simply by bashing Trump. A new one is coming, it may be big, rivaling the human waves that have engulfed Europe, except that it´s not from ISIS: Venezuela is melting down into a huge refugee flight, which is the natural endgame of socialism. And it will reach our shores. According to the Associated Press: While Venezuela plunges further into political and economic ruin, the flight of its citizens is accelerating, reaching levels unseen in its history. Experts believe nearly one-tenth of its population of around 31 million now lives outside the country.

Justices said the lower court rulings that blocked Mr. Trump’s policy were far too broad, and said the president can begin to enforce his ban against foreigners who don’t already have some ties to the U.S. That means the president can begin denying visas to visitors from six countries — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen — who don’t already have family in the U.S., or some other prior connection such as
