‘Absolutely, Positively Not’: Chaffetz Says
He’s Not Leaving Congress Due to an
Impending Scandal

Mediaite, by Joe DePaolo

First, he announced he would not seek another term in Congress. Then, he said he might leave early. So what’s the deal, Jason Chaffetz? Is there a scandal coming down the pike that we don’t know about? “Absolutely, positively not,” Chaffetz told Politico on Thursday. “Not in any way, shape, or form.” He added, “If they had something really scandalous, it would’ve come out a long, long time ago.” So why, then, is the Utah Congressman and House Oversight Committee Chairman contemplating an early exit from office? His comments to Politico don’t exactly shed much light on the matter. “I

Just not buying what this guy is selling us. He is either positioning himself for a run at the governor´s seat or Hatch´s or he has something impending and close about to pop out of the closet.

Guys like him just don´t turn tail and run for the tall grass without a substantial good reason.

I never trusted this primadonna. He is so full of himself--and trashed my president, DJT, too many times to suit me.

Scandal? I would bet.

Since incumbents have an advantage in general elections, one reason for an early departure by a sitting congressman is to help keep the seat in his party´s hands.by passing the baton so his replacement can run as the incumbent in the next general election. That´s how it would work iin states whose laws provide for the sitting governor to appoint a replacement in the event of a mid-term vacancy. And Utah´s Republican governor would likely appoint another Republican. The problem with that, though, is that Utah apparently hasn´t had this situation come up in the past 86 years and has no procedure on n place to replace a U.S. Congressional Representative who resigns mid-term.

He´s got to cash in while the Romney´s and the old LDS leader is still alive (in hospital right now) because he´s afraid he won´t have the connections to do so if they both retire.

The LDS is not that rewarding unless you´re a top leader.
Then the perks never stop.

Nicholas Fuentes, an 18-year-old student who attended the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Va., this past weekend, said that he´s received death threats for months over his conservative viewpoints -- enough for him to decide it´s time to leave Boston University. Fuentes said he made the decision to abandon his Political Science degree a month ago after being constantly threatened over his conservative views. The National Institutes of Health is spending over $400,000 studying whether gender norms of masculinity and femininity lead LGBTQ individuals to drink too much. Trying to find the "meanings of intoxication" of sexual and gender minorities is the central question of a study that was awarded in late July. The project will "examine the extent to which gendered norms shape risky drinking practices for sexual and gender minority (SGM) young adults," according to the grant for the study. The grant states that alcohol is an "integral component of bars and clubs." "Alcohol has played a central role for SGM by facilitating

Cleansing the Capitol of blemishes of American history could be a hard task. As Democratic leaders threw their support Thursday behind a proposal to take down any statue connected with the Confederacy, President Trump wondered where they would draw the line. Sen. Cory A. Booker, the New Jersey Democrat who called for culling the Confederacy, did not say what should be done about Richard Stockton, a slave owner who is one of his state’s contributions to the Capitol Collection. Nor did Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer’s office respond to a question about whether his office should be renamed from

Although most people under 40 are astonishingly ignorant about it, a great worldwide armed conflict known as World War II took place from 1939-1945 in the European and Pacific regions. It is relevant and important to know and understand because the outcome of World War II put into place the political, economic and geographical conditions and relationships that make the world what it is today. An understanding of the ramifications of WWII is central to comprehending how today’s world came to be. People under 40—heck, even under 60—would do themselves a huge favor if they learned some history and saw

Major media outlets this week encouraged people to speculate on whether President Trump is a racist and even commissioned artists to convey the idea that he is, but still fell short of generating a consensus that Trump is prejudiced against non-whites. The effort is nearly a week old now. It began Saturday when Trump was criticized for not immediately singling out neo-Nazis and white supremacists for their role in the violence in Charlottesville, Va. When Trump finally did identify the groups on Monday, the press said he was too slow. Then a day later, Trump again condemned white supremacists, but
