SHIRLEY — Former New England Patriot and convicted killer Aaron Hernandez killed himself in prison overnight, authorities said Wednesday morning. Here is the message just sent out by Christopher Fallon, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Communications of the Massachusetts Department of Correction: On April 19, 2017 Aaron Hernandez was discovered hanged in his cell by corrections officers at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley Massachusetts at approximately 3:05 a.m., lifesaving techniques were attempted on Mr. Hernandez and he was transported to UMASS Leominster where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. by a physician at the hospital.
I suspect that after he was acquitted on the double murder charges it finally sunk in that that acquittal did not matter: he had thrown away the promise of the life he could have had and would spend the rest of his life behind bars as a two-bit murderer.
When owner Bob Kraft´s wife Myra was alive, I read that she insured that no "bad boys" were brought in from the Football Colleges. Hernandez was a real "bad boy at Florida, beating up guys in bars and the like. His dad kept him out of trouble in Bristol Ct, but once he became famous at college, he fell big time. Good riddance. Saves the Commonwealth of MA millions.
Until reading this article, I had not remembered that Hernandez was a teammate of Tim Tebow at the University of Florida. How much more widely could two paths diverge? As another said, Hernandez embraced the thug life. Look what it got him.
I guess that there wasn´t any more space left on his body to desecrate with another tat. Gone is just another over rated NFL thug that won´t corrupt the small minds of idiots that worship nothings like this loser. RI? (rest in whatever).
Early last week, a friend who is generally supportive of President Trump offered his view that the president had only one move remaining — firing special counsel Robert Mueller.By week’s end, my friend had a different view: The president is in a box without a clear escape hatch. “I’m not sure how he gets out of this,” he said wearily. Those conversations bookend the worst week of the Trump presidency, which ended with another shake-up. By removing Reince Priebus as chief of staff and replacing him with Gen. John Kelly from Homeland Security, Trump aims to bring a semblance of military
Former Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta grew angry when Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo highlighted his own ties with companies connected to Russia.Bartiromo asked why Americans weren’t paying more attention to Democrat ties to the Russians. “[Y]ou’re picking through my emails that were stolen by the Russians and released by Wikileaks, and creating a story that is not true,” Podesta said in an interview, insisting that he did not get any shares from a Russian company. Podesta sat on the board of Joule, an American company that attracted investments from the Russians. As Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer has reported,
The Congressional Budget Office’s official “score” of the Senate GOP’s Better Care Reconciliation Act came out this afternoon, and it contained largely bad news for the bill’s sponsors — though with some significant opportunities for improvements before the bill actually hits the Senate floor. The big bad number most often cited in criticisms of the House-passed legislation did not get a lot better. The House’s American Health Care Act was expected to cost 23 million Americans health coverage by the end of ten years. CBO estimates that BCRA will lower than terrible number by just one million. So Republican senators like
After 52 hours of jury deliberation, the case against Bill Cosby on charges of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004 ended on Saturday in a mistrial. But at least the public verdict on Mr. Cosby is clear: He will be remembered as a very low sort of hypocrite — the self-styled exemplar of conservative family values exposed as a sexual predator. This is an old story, with plenty of antecedents in religion and politics. What’s chiefly new is that this is now a media story, as conservative power has moved from the pulpit and the pedestal to the TV
At an Axios event this week in Washington D.C., veteran journalist Bob Woodward had a message for the media: relax and listen more when covering the Trump White House. The Washington Post editor, who covered the Watergate scandal under the Nixon White House, added that President Trump’s firing of James Comey from the FBI is not the same thing (via The Hill):Legendary reporter Bob Woodward urged reporters this week to "calm it down and listen more" when covering the Trump White House.Woodward also cautioned those in the media broaching Watergate and impeachment in speaking about investigations into the Trump campaign
WASHINGTON — The House Intelligence Committee will issue subpoenas to Michael T. Flynn, President Trump’s first national security adviser, the committee’s senior Democrat said on Wednesday, escalating Mr. Flynn’s troubles with Congress. The Democrat, Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, said Mr. Flynn had declined the panel’s request for documents and an interview as part of its investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s election.“Those subpoenas will be designed to maximize our chance of getting the information that we need,” Mr. Schiff told reporters during a breakfast hosted by The Christian Science Monitor. “And I think we need to use whatever
VATICAN CITY — President Donald Trump and Pope Francis, two leaders with contrasting styles and differing worldviews, met at the Vatican City on Wednesday, setting aside their previous clashes to broadcast a tone of peace for an audience around the globe. Trump, midway through his grueling nine-day maiden international journey, called upon the pontiff at the Vatican early Wednesday where the two had a private 30-minute meeting laden with religious symbolism and ancient protocol. The president, accompanied by his wife and several aides, arrived at the Vatican just after 8 a.m. local time. The president greeted Francis in Sala del Tronetto,
President Donald Trump asked two of the nation’s top intelligence officials in March to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government, according to current and former officials.Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election. Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the requests, which they both deemed to be inappropriate, according to two current and two former officials,
After Reddit users managed to track down the accounts on the site belonging to murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich, someone began editing and deleting his comments. While it is unclear if someone is actually logged in and meddling with his account, or if Reddit took it upon themselves to remove identifying information about someone who is no longer living — it is still an odd occurrence.Reddit users first located Rich’s main account, ‘MeGrimlock4’, where Rich had posted looking for his parent’s lost dog and left his email address.
The Washington Post has published a “blind item” White House report — where not only its sources but the subject of the article is anonymous. Using “people familiar with the matter” as sources, the Post’s Devlin Barrett and Matt Zapotosky report that the investigation into the Trump campaign and its connections to Russia “has identified a current White House official as a significant person of interest, showing that the probe is reaching the highest levels of government.” The person is a senior White House adviser “close to the president,” but the unnamed sources would not identify that official, the Post reported.
A federal court has thrown out the civil rights lawsuit filed by the family of the Texas teenager known as “Clock Boy.”The lawsuit alleged that the city of Irving and Irving school district discriminated against Ahmed Mohamed at Irving MacArthur High School in September of 2015.Mohamed, a Muslim teenager who was 14 years old at the time, brought a homemade clock to school to show his engineering teacher. But an alarm on the clock went off in his English class and the teacher confiscated it. He was sent to the principal’s office.
As President Donald Trump heads overseas for his first international trip as President, many in the international community will be watching his national security adviser, Gen. H.R. McMaster, who has just experienced one of the most politically challenging weeks of his career. The trip -- to Saudi Arabia, Israel, the Vatican, a NATO summit in Brussels and a G7 summit in Sicily -- will be fraught with international risks, and much of it is riding on the ability of McMaster to steer the President in the right directions. Besieged at home, Trump sets off for ´do-or-die´ foreign trip
Two members of the Kennedy family were arrested for disorderly conduct near the family’s famed compound on Cape Cod, according to police. Max Kennedy, the 52-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and a noise violation around 1 a.m. Sunday morning after reports of loud partying, Barnstable Police told the Boston Herald. His daughter Caroline, a 22-year-old California resident, was also arrested at a home a short walk from the main Kennedy compound. (Snip) The arrests come after a brush with the law for another of RFK’s grandchildren, Conor Kennedy, who
“There must always” be a flow low-skilled immigration to the United States, no matter its impact on American workers, according to Republican establishment figure Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ). Flake slammed the idea of potentially cutting legal immigration levels in half to raise the wages of American workers and end the current low-skilled oriented system to make only admit immigrants based on their skills and merit in a New York Times op-ed. Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and David Perdue (R-GA) introduced the specific plan, known as the “RAISE Act.” President Donald Trump endorsed the plan and said the legislation “will reduce poverty, increase
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are among a set of White House aides pushing President Trump to allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to stay, in an effort to get Democrats to fund the president´s border wall. McClatchy reported that the group of White House officials have suggested using so-called ´Dreamers´ as a bargaining chip, in order to check off some of the president´s campaign promises on immigration, including the wall, additional detention facilities, an E-verify system for employers and cuts to legal immigration. However, such a move would break another campaign promise, as candidate Donald Trump had pledged
Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal hoped for the assassination of President Trump in a Facebook comment on Thursday then deleted it in a panic. She even acknowledged she would get a visit from the Secret Service for her comment. (Photo) Maria Chappelle-Nadal’s Facebook comment was so egregious that even ABC News reported on the story. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports: Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, posted a comment in a Facebook conversation Thursday morning saying she hoped President Donald Trump will be assassinated. The comment was removed but Chappelle-Nadal confirmed to the Post-Dispatch that she had written it in
The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Sunday gave a strong endorsement to the movement for removing monuments to leaders of the Confederacy and called for the electoral college to be abolished. Speaking at the Islamic Center of Southern California, Jackson blamed the electoral college system, giving disproportionate influence to less populated states, for the 2000 and 2016 loss of Democratic presidential candidates Al Gore and Hillary Clinton despite their winning the popular vote. “Today we are looking at a structural problem,” Jackson said. “These monuments must go. Calling for the audience to repeat, he said, “Say the monuments and the flags
WASHINGTON — The Secret Service can no longer pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out an expanded protective mission – in large part due to the sheer size of President Trump´s family and efforts necessary to secure their multiple residences up and down the East Coast. Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex´´ Alles, in an interview with USA TODAY, said more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances that were meant to last the entire year. The agency has faced a crushing workload since the height of the contentious election season, and it
Thanks to Monday´s solar eclipse, disastrous traffic jams have been taking over the country these last few days. And as folks leave the first coast-to-coast solar eclipse since 1918, the U.S. Department of Transportation estimated that nearly two-thirds of the nation´s resident live withing a day´s drive of the path of totality. And with Oregon being the first to see the eclipse, it and neighboring state Washington are experiencing the worst bouts of the traffic jams. ´This is the biggest transportation event that has ever hit Oregon,´ Dave Thompson, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation told AP. Black Lives Matter activist Chanelle Helm released a list of “requests” to white people in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, this month. Helm, the so-called “cofounder and core organizer of Black Lives Matter Louisville,” explained in an article published at Leoweekly.com the things she says need to “change.” “White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty,” Helm writes in an article titled “White people, here are 10 requests from a Black Lives Matter leader.” White people are asked, “Give up the
As the face of CNN, Anderson Cooper makes a very good living as wealthy, privileged white man casting judgments of affiliation upon his political enemies. This includes taking a handful of idiotic white supremacists and declaring they represent millions of Republicans/conservatives, pro-America, Trump supporters, etc. And yet Mr. Cooper himself has a much closer affiliation to slavery than he likely wants his leftist viewers to know. As a descendant of the Vanderbilt family, one of the wealthiest “old money” families in American history, Cooper is a direct descendant of big time slave owners. Cooper’s great-great grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt, owned several plantations,
A Texas college campus removed four statues of prominent Confederate figures in an overnight sweep, according to reports. The statues of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston, Confederate Postmaster General John H. Reagan and former Texas Gov. James Stephen Hogg were each taken down from the campus’ Main Mall in an operation beginning just before midnight and continuing through the early morning, KSAT 12 reported. “Last week, the horrific displays of hatred at the University of Virginia and in Charlottesville shocked and saddened the nation,” University of Texas President Greg Fenves said in a statement. “These events make
The eclipse that occurred over Chicago led thousands to the beaches and streets, where they gasped and cried out as the sun partially disappeared. For WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling, it was an especially awe-inspiring event. The famed meteorologist hugged and high-fived people around him and wept as the eclipse occurred Monday afternoon. "Oh, my word," Skilling said. "Wow. This is amazing. What do you think of this, this?" At another point, he told viewers, "I´ll get my act together, guys." His voice cracking, Skilling apologized for his tears. Skilling´s heartfelt reaction earned him praise from fans:
President Trump’s “America First” base was the biggest loser of Trump’s speech on Afghanistan Monday night, and many quickly expressed their disappointment at the business-as-usual address from the president who had once promised to limit American intervention abroad and focus on nation-building at home. Trump’s speech, in which he pledged to increase the number of troops in the 16-year-war, was the first since the departure of Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and confirmed the fears of many on the right that without a strong nationalist voice in the West Wing, the President would revert to the same old fare that Americans had
