Microsoft tries to thread the needle of transparency by telling its consuming audience as much about governmental collection of data as possible. Toward that end Microsoft releases a biannual transparency report. (Photos) Within the latest transparency release Microsoft reports in the first half of 2016 they received a massive increase in FISA orders; primarily from U.S. governmental agencies. “For the latest Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) data reported, Microsoft received 1,000-1,499 FISA orders seeking content disclosures affecting 12,000-12,499 accounts, compared to the 0-499 FISA orders seeking disclosure of content impacting 17,500-17,999 accounts reported for the previous period. Wanna bet 99.9% of all fisa requests were for those individuals from red states and the right of the political spectrum, including politicians and donors to the right? None the less the left will run around with their ears and eyes covered shrieking louder than Sgt Schultz that the see nothing, nothing.

I´m sure a pattern can be easily derived from the data to prove #1´s point. "Wanna bet 99.9% of all fisa requests were for those individuals from red states and the right of the political spectrum..."

Google has promised to alter its search results to punish websites promoting extreme views, conspiracy theories and fake news. The internet giant said it would demote “low-quality” websites and let users report offensive results after criticism that neo-Nazi groups and hoaxers were “gaming” the company’s search engine. Google has been under mounting pressure in recent months for appearing to promote fake news and conspiracy theories in search results. (Video) The company’s search engine, which is driven by computer algorithms, has often struggled to differentiate between reputable sources and unsavoury websites, leading it to include extreme viewpoints or lies in its

New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush are reportedly in line to assume ownership of the Miami Marlins baseball team, it was learned on Tuesday. The retired baseball star and the longtime politician are heading a group of investors that submitted the winning bid for the South Florida club, according to Bloomberg Sports. The news site cited anonymous sources familiar with the details of the negotiations, though no sales figure was given. Bush and Jeter were once thought to be competitors for the Marlins, but earlier this month it was learned that they were working on

While ABC, CBS and NBC on Monday and Tuesday found time to celebrate the return of “easy-going,” rested Barack Obama to the public scene, none of them covered the release of a blockbuster expose that reveals the buried secrets of the ex-President’s Iran deal giveaway. Politico senior investigative reporter Josh Meyer authored a more than 7300-word bombshell showing that Obama secretly released 21 Iranian prisoners (not the seven originally claimed), men who were deeply involved in Iran’s missile and nuclear program. Entering the White House through the visitors’ entrance at the northwest corner of the grounds, I heard a uniformed Secret Service officer calling a colleague inside: “Press is coming in. Don’t let them wander around the West Wing.” Well, they’ve got my number, I thought to myself. Directed to the press briefing room, the invited conservative media guests were gathering in advance of the reception called for 5:00 p.m. I was surprised to find my friend Charles Kesler, Claremont Professor of Government and editor of the Claremont Review of Books. As Congress returns from recess, we hold out hope that they will make better use of this session than the last one and work to fulfill their campaign promises. But even while politicians in the House and Senate were away from Washington this week, state legislatures remained active. All across the nation, conservative grassroots activists are pushing for laws that will limit the size and scope of the government, increase individual liberty and restore constitutionally-guaranteed rights. And they´ve had some remarkable successes in the past several weeks. In Arizona, grassroots pushed to protect crucial civil and economic liberties. Although designed

According to the ethos of black students at Pomona College, one of the nation’s most competitive (and expensive) small liberal arts colleges, white people cannot legitimately study and write about black criminals. Tony Airaksinen of Campus Reform writes: Students at Pomona College have published a demand letter urging administrators to rescind their offer to hire Sociology Professor Alice Goffman because she’s white. The “Letter to the Pomona College Sociology Department,” published last Friday argues that by hiring Goffman, the administration has neglected their commitment to promoting diversity and supporting women of color. “This practice is detrimental to Pomona’s goal of

When we study racial inequality, we tend to consider factors that affect people while they are awake. Differential access to safe neighborhoods with good schools, decent jobs and unbalanced treatment by police and the courts surely have much to do with the stubborn disparities in wealth and well-being among blacks and whites, in particular. Yet it may be just as important to consider what happens when we’re asleep. Race shapes our sleep, a relationship that has surprising roots deep in our national past. African Americans suffer from a “sleep gap”: Fewer black people are able to sleep for the recommended

"Because of changes in the media, we now have a situation in which everybody is listening to people who already agree with them, and are further and further reinforcing their own realities to the neglect of the common reality that allows us to have a healthy debate, and then try to find common ground and actually move solutions forward," Obama said in his

Ex-President Barack Obama is the mystery man of American politics. Given the absence of a viable paper trail, nobody can say for sure who he is. He manifests for us as a figure of multiple identities: a Christian, a Muslim, a secularist, a socialist, a humanist, an intellectual, a man of the people. His lack of definable substance, his inner absence, has been an important political advantage. As Obama himself confessed (or boasted) in The Audacity of Hope, this layering of anonymities enabled him to “serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their
