Conservatives Skeptical of White House’s Proposed
Changes to Obamacare Replacement Bill

Daily Signal, by Melissa Quinn

Less than two weeks since the collapse of Republicans’ plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, lawmakers and White House officials have revived talks aimed at crafting a health care bill that can make it through Congress. But a new pitch from the White House designed to get conservative lawmakers on board, though in its early stages, already has left some conservatives skeptical. “The goal for the Freedom Caucus has always been we want to see a reduction in [health insurance] prices. That’s still the bottom line,” Rep. Dave Brat, R-Va., told The Daily Signal. “We’re open to any package of ideas that

Comments:
There are a couple of big, costly regulations the Trump people are "compromising" on by allowing the states to opt out. The conservatives want the regulations to be taken out of the hands of the federal government entirely. They´re the regs that raise prices the most.

Will the government fix every "too high" price? If anyone really wants "lower premiums" they´d vote repeal and walk away to let the market set prices for medical services. Why does the government get involved in this apparent market distortion? Because it can, and now it´s time for GOP supporters to get their reward. Politicians...

I think the truth is that the GOPe does not want to repeal Obamacare because they see this as a risk to reelection (taking away an entitlement).

The best we can hope for is to allow states to opt completely out. Then California can have its exchanges with 1 insurer while the rest of us can enjoy free markets.

They could start with four simple things:

1. No IRS involvement.
2. No mandates.
3. No taxpayer abortions.
4. No subsidized illegals.

This would set a good framework for the rest of the details.

RINOcare - (Repeal In Name Only)care.

Liberal republicans (who are in the majority) don´t want to do with less power, smaller, less intrusive constitutionally mandated gov´t.

Conservatives want to repeal (as this whole business IS unconstitutional and robs us of decent, affordable health care).

For eight years, U.S. foreign assistance was tied to a leftist political agenda rather than American interests, and it’s now up to President Donald Trump to correct that, Sen. Mike Lee said Tuesday. Lee took particular aim at U.S. support during the Obama administration for the overseas work of nonprofits bankrolled by liberal billionaire George Soros. “Whatever one’s views about abortion, energy regulation, alternative family structures, they are neither core international priorities of the American people, nor essential to American national security. They are domestic political controversies, pet causes of a sort of privileged, globalist elite,” Lee said in the speech

Now that student mobs at universities around America (and elsewhere in the West) have silenced conservative speaker after conservative speaker, it has dawned on a small number of left-wing professors that the public is beginning to have contempt for the universities. As a result, a handful of academics at a handful of universities have signed statements in support of allowing “diverse” views to be heard at the university. These statements are worthless. While some of the professors who have signed these statements might sincerely believe that the university should honor the non-left value of free speech, one should keep in

Republican senators could investigate U.S. tax dollars funding liberal billionaire George Soros’ networks abroad “through other means” if the Trump administration’s State Department doesn’t provide answers. Six GOP senators wrote Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in March to ask for a State Department probe into how the federal grants are being used by Soros-funded Open Society Foundations, specifically in Macedonia and Albania, to promote progressive causes and undermine conservative and moderate political leaders in those countries. The State Department Bureau of Legislative Affairs responded not by addressing the question of a probe, but defending the U.S. Agency for International Development, or

Twenty-five Medal of Honor recipients joined President Trump, Vice President Pence, Secretary of Defense Mattis and the head of the Veterans’ Administration, David Shulkin, for an Oval Office commemoration of their courage and service to the nation. U.S. District Judge William Orrick issued the temporary ruling Tuesday in a lawsuit over the executive order targeting so-called sanctuary cities. San Francisco and Santa Clara County argued that it threatened billions of dollars in federal funding. But an attorney for the Justice Department,

The Post reported that the confidential, five-page memo cautioned that the repeal of the Affordable Care Act would put the U.S. “at odds with its international obligations.” The warning was sent to the State Department and reportedly said
