Russian Meddling Had More To Do
With Hillary Than Trump, Comey Implies

Daily Caller, by Saagar Enjeti

Original Article

FBI Director James Comey repeatedly referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s personal animus to Hillary Clinton as one of the major motivations in Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election during congressional testimony Tuesday. Comey described how Putin “hated Hillary Clinton so much” he developed a preference for President Donald Trump. Comey deployed a sports metaphor, saying, “I hate the New England Patriots, and no matter who they play, I’d like them to lose.” His statements echo the main findings of the Jan. 6 U.S. intelligence community’s report on Russian attempts to undermine the 2016 election. “Russia’s goals were to undermine public

I don´t believe anything Comey says let alone what he "implies". He lost all credibility when he described a solid criminal case against Hillary and then failed to recommend indictment. He has become a political animal in what is supposed to be a non-political position. He needs to resign.

If that is so, why would not Vlad Putin have First Amendment rights and be able to say his piece over the internet, through the media, and in news and opinion publications in the USA?

Trump Calls NYT and WaPo First to

Washington Free Beacon, by Staff    Original Article

President Donald Trump, who has been widely criticized for only speaking with right-wing news outlets, called the Washington Post and the New York Times first on Friday to talk about the House Republicans health care bill. House Republicans pulled the Obamacare repeal bill on Friday after Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) told Trump they did not have enough votes to pass the bill. CNN Reporter Dylan Byers tweeted that Trump, "who says you can´t trust media," called the Washington Post and the New York Times first to discuss pulling the American Health Care Act. How Washington Handed

Washington Free Beacon, by Matthew Continetti    Original Article

President Trump and his advisers ought to study the collapse of the American Health Care Act. It´s a case study in how Beltway institutions—the so-called Swamp Trump pledged to drain—can herd a president and his party toward unpopular legislation and political defeat. Begin with this question: Why the rush to repeal and replace Obamacare? Yes, repealing the law has been a Republican priority since 2010. But Democrats had spent decades laying the groundwork for universal health care before finding themselves in control of the government in 2009. And even then, it took a year for the Affordable Care Act to

The Conservatives Made a Mistake

I fear the conservatives may have erred. Let´s accept that Paul Ryan´s healthcare bill wasn´t optimal. If the Congressional Budget Office was anywhere close to correct in its original estimations, the bill would have cut government spending by $12.5 trillion, cut taxes by $900 million, repealed Obamacare´s tax increases, and instituted the largest entitlement reform in the last thirty years. But yes, it´s true, it wasn´t full repeal. Indeed, as long as insurance companies are required to cover pre-existing conditions, government healthcare is with us, and the bill would not have changed that. And it is certainly fair to doubt whether

Paul Ryan thought Trump could woo

During a televised press conference, Paul Ryan just unraveled his cognitive dissidence. Against all evidence, the speaker had been hoping that President Trump could somehow cut a deal with the Freedom Caucus without making major concessions. He should´ve known better. "This is a disappointing day for us," Ryan told reporters shortly after pulling his American Healthcare Act. But for anyone paying close attention it wasn´t a surprising development. For months, Trump´s business acumen has been grossly exaggerated, and the stubbornness of the "hell-no caucus" underestimated. The subsequent failure of the American Healthcare Act reflects both basic arithmetic and recent history.

House Republican leaders abruptly pulled a Republican rewrite of the nation’s health-care system from consideration on Friday, a dramatic acknowledgment that they are so far unable to repeal the Affordable Care Act. “We just pulled it,” President Trump told The Washington Post in a telephone interview. The decision came a day after President Trump delivered an ultimatum to lawmakers — and represented multiple failures for the new president and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.). The decision means the Affordable Care Act remains in place, at least for now, and a major GOP campaign promise goes unfulfilled. It also casts

Broken promises are as old as politics itself, and there are many famous examples of them in modern history. President George H.W. But in each of those cases, those were promises that were made in a given campaign by a given politician. The promise of Obamacare repeal is much different.
