Supreme Court refuses to dismiss
Menendez corruption charges

Politico, by John Bresnahan

The Supreme Court has rejected Sen. Bob Menendez´s attempt to throw out the bribery and corruption charges against him, setting the stage for a trial for the New Jersey Democrat this fall. With Monday´s announcement, Menendez can no longer block the proceedings against him from moving forward, a major setback for his efforts to avoid criminal trial. Abbe Lowell, Menendez´s lead defense attorney, said the Supreme Court´s decision not to hear the appeal was "disappointing," but still said Menendez will be "vindicated when all the facts are heard at trial." "It´s disappointing that the Supreme Court did not take this opportunity to set

Isn´t it funny that Menendez and his attorney are bringing up separation of powers as a concern. What BS. Didn´t hear that argument when they were looking into Sen Stevens.

Good old Abbe Lowell. I guess Menendez knows what kind of trouble he is up against.:

"Lowell has defended political figures including John Edwards,[7] Jim Wright, Dan Rostenkowski, Charles Keating,[8] and Gary Condit[9] former Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons,[10] U.S. Rep. Joseph McDade[11] and lobbyist Jack Abramoff."

He keeps great company.
Also minority attorney in Clintons impeachment.

The irony of this is if Menencez is convicted and removed from offfice, his replacement will be worse.
It is, after all, New Jersey.

Muslims and Islam: Key findings in

Pew Research Center, by Michael Lipka    Original Article

Muslims are the fastest-growing religious group in the world. The growth and regional migration of Muslims, combined with the ongoing impact of the Islamic State (also known as ISIS or ISIL) and other extremist groups that commit acts of violence in the name of Islam, have brought Muslims and the Islamic faith to the forefront of the political debate in many countries. Yet many facts about Muslims are not well known in some of these places, and most Americans – who live in a country with a relatively small Muslim population – say they know little or nothing about Islam.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave her strongest indication yet that Europe and the U.S. under President Donald Trump are drifting apart, saying reliable relationships forged since the end of World War II “are to some extent over.”Speaking at a campaign rally in a beer tent in Munich on Sunday, Merkel offered a glimpse of her world view after Trump’s nine-day trip, during which he hectored NATO allies for not spending enough on defense, called Germany’s trade surplus “very bad,” and brought the U.S. to the brink of exiting the global Paris climate accord. There’s a recap video of Melania Trump today provided by the Associated Press. As much as they hate to admit it, the media are recognizing the classic elegance within how our First Lady carries herself. Melania Trump has an inherent understanding of nuance, and epitomizes a grace lost to all except the most traditionally versed. There is also another element to this – visible in what she does not do when contrast against her peers. See if you notice it in the last few moments of the AP video: (Video) Did you notice it?

Those who followed the 2016 presidential campaign might remember when Senator Ted Cruz was discovered to have hidden $1.3 million in campaign “loans” from Goldman Sachs and Citibank during his 2012 campaign for the senate. At the heart of the issue was a failure of Ted and Heidi Cruz to list Wall Street “loans” on the required Federal Election Commission financial reports. President Trump’s political opposition, including Most Swamp Media (MSM), have claimed he went too far in calling out NATO members for their lack of funding their own military and security apparatus. During President Trump’s latest trip to NATO he stated publicly they needed to improve and do it quickly. The media expressed a position that President Trump was too direct; however, what the media never shows is how far out of balance the entire financial system is for NATO. The members of NATO agreed to spend at least 2% of their GDP on their own internal defense and security. (Snip) However, what

Increasingly, social-grievance jihadis are getting themselves worked up over casting decisions in movies, TV shows, plays, and even operas, labeling anything they disapprove of as “whitewashing.” Granted, the number of beneficiaries of disputes over which celebrities will get which roles is miniscule. But the various contradictory controversies, when considered together, are revealing for what they show about the unprincipled nature of contemporary moral crises. In the past, acting was less concerned with issues of identity-politics authenticity, or even all that much with authenticity at all. Performing was basically conceived of as Let’s Pretend for grown-ups. Who was putting on the

We hear it every day, across all media all the time, including at FOX News. “ If only Europeans were as welcoming as Americans there would be no terror problem in Europe. If only European countries could assimilate their immigrants as well as America there would be no terror in Europe.” As recently as Wednesday, May 24, referring to the Manchester attack, former Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen claimed that Europeans don’t allow for assimilation, that European immigrants suffer from alienation. These assertions have been left unchallenged for so long they’ve taken on a mantra of truth. Not only is it not true;

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continued her “sore loser” tour on Friday, telling Wellesley seniors that they were graduating “at a time when there is a full-fledged assault on truth and reason,” and likening the Trump administration to “authoritarian regimes throughout history.” History, evidently, is not Clinton’s best subject. She likened President Donald Trump to Richard Nixon, whom she said had been impeached. In fact, Nixon resigned. After that glaring error — compounded by the fact that Clinton’s husband was only the second American president to be impeached — Clinton then went on to accuse the Trump administration of “defending themselves

Hillary Clinton says that she "beat" Donald Trump—and Bernie Sanders—in a lengthy feature article by New York Magazine. "I beat both of them," she said, evidently referencing her popular vote win over Trump. While Clinton did defeat Sanders, who is not a Democrat, in the Democratic primary, she did not defeat Trump, who was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States in January. In the story, Clinton discussed her post-election status as a member of the "Resistance" to Trump, but she also reflected on the 2016 campaign, which included a harder-than-expected fight against Sanders for the nomination. WASHINGTON — Shortly after President Trump took office, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the majority leader, met privately with his colleagues to discuss the Republican agenda. Repealing the Affordable Care Act was at the top, he said. But replacing it would be really hard. Mr. McConnell was right. The many meetings Republicans held to discuss a Senate health care bill have exposed deep fissures within the party that are almost as large as the differences between Republicans and Democrats. Elements of a bill that passed the House this month have divided Republicans. Mr. McConnell faces an increasingly onerous math problem.

New revelations have surfaced that the Obama administration abused intelligence during the election by launching a massive domestic-spy campaign that included snooping on Trump officials. The irony is mind-boggling: Targeting political opposition is long a technique of police states like Russia, which Team Obama has loudly condemned for allegedly using its own intelligence agencies to hack into our election. The revelations, as well as testimony this week from former Obama intel officials, show the extent to which the Obama administration politicized and weaponized intelligence against Americans. Thanks to Circa News, we now know the National Security Agency under President Barack Obama routinely violated

It’s pile-on time for America’s commercial airlines. The contempt people hold for them has long been severe, but following a raft of highly publicized incidents, resentment has hit a fever pitch. This was followed by several more airlines-behaving-badly controversies, up to and including the death of Simon, a giant rabbit who perished after a London-to-Chicago United flight. Over and over we are reminded about the hellishness that is commercial flying. Enabled by cellphone cameras and the catalyst of social media, even the most
