Supreme Court refuses to dismiss
Menendez corruption charges

Politico, by John Bresnahan

The Supreme Court has rejected Sen. Bob Menendez´s attempt to throw out the bribery and corruption charges against him, setting the stage for a trial for the New Jersey Democrat this fall. With Monday´s announcement, Menendez can no longer block the proceedings against him from moving forward, a major setback for his efforts to avoid criminal trial. Abbe Lowell, Menendez´s lead defense attorney, said the Supreme Court´s decision not to hear the appeal was "disappointing," but still said Menendez will be "vindicated when all the facts are heard at trial." "It´s disappointing that the Supreme Court did not take this opportunity to set

Isn´t it funny that Menendez and his attorney are bringing up separation of powers as a concern. What BS. Didn´t hear that argument when they were looking into Sen Stevens.

Good old Abbe Lowell. I guess Menendez knows what kind of trouble he is up against.:

"Lowell has defended political figures including John Edwards,[7] Jim Wright, Dan Rostenkowski, Charles Keating,[8] and Gary Condit[9] former Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons,[10] U.S. Rep. Joseph McDade[11] and lobbyist Jack Abramoff."

He keeps great company.
Also minority attorney in Clintons impeachment.

The irony of this is if Menencez is convicted and removed from offfice, his replacement will be worse.
It is, after all, New Jersey.

President Trump, Do Something

Dear President Trump: I have been following Presidential politics for decades, and never, not even during the height of the Watergate affair, have I seen anything like the situation in which you are now embroiled. In the brief time that has elapsed since your inauguration—just over four months—the media-DNC-Deep State-RINO complex has managed, by means of an entirely fictional “Russian collusion” narrative, to create or contribute to the impression that you are already on the verge of impeachment proceedings based upon absolutely nothing of legal consequence. An astounding array of investigations, most of them launched in the last days of

We hear it every day, across all media all the time, including at FOX News. “ If only Europeans were as welcoming as Americans there would be no terror problem in Europe. If only European countries could assimilate their immigrants as well as America there would be no terror in Europe.” As recently as Wednesday, May 24, referring to the Manchester attack, former Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen claimed that Europeans don’t allow for assimilation, that European immigrants suffer from alienation. These assertions have been left unchallenged for so long they’ve taken on a mantra of truth. Not only is it not true;

Hillary Clinton’s Sad, Sore Loser
Speech Shows America Dodged a Bullet

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continued her “sore loser” tour on Friday, telling Wellesley seniors that they were graduating “at a time when there is a full-fledged assault on truth and reason,” and likening the Trump administration to “authoritarian regimes throughout history.” History, evidently, is not Clinton’s best subject. She likened President Donald Trump to Richard Nixon, whom she said had been impeached. In fact, Nixon resigned. After that glaring error — compounded by the fact that Clinton’s husband was only the second American president to be impeached — Clinton then went on to accuse the Trump administration of “defending themselves

Government sources have confessed that there are at least 23,000 jihadists in Britain – more than seven times higher than previously revealed. Until recently, the public had been led to believe there were around 3,000 known jihadists in Britain, with 500 being subject to active investigations led by MI5. Whitehall officials have now disclosed that a further 20,000 individuals have been identified as posing a “residual risk”, according to The Times. Khalid Masood, who ran down a number of pedestrians and stabbed a police constable to death outside the Palace of Westminster in March 2017, was among the pool of individuals who

Despite heavy lobbying from G7 leaders, President Donald Trump declined to endorse the Paris Climate Agreement in a joint pledge of support for one of former President Barack Obama’s signature achievements in office. Trump’s decision upset world leaders like German Chancellor Angela Merkel, desperate to convince the president of the agreement’s merits. “The Paris deal isn’t just any other deal. It is a key agreement that shapes today’s globalization,” Merkel said, describing discussions with Trump about climate change “very unsatisfying.” For opponents of the agreement, the decision is a welcome development after the president’s economic adviser, Gary Cohn, told reporters that Trump was

While it doesn’t come as a significant surprise the latest development in the Manchester bombing shows the financiers for the terrorist attack were U.K. taxpayers. Yes, the British people actually paid Salman Abedi to kill themselves and their children: Telegraph – Salman Abedi is understood to have received thousands of pounds in state funding in the run up to Monday’s atrocity even while he was overseas receiving bomb-making training. Police are investigating Abedi’s finances, including how he paid for frequent trips to Libya where he is thought to have been taught to make bombs at a jihadist training camp. […]

It is almost unfair to present a compare and contrast amid various power-play scenarios when the characters within the comparisons are titans of industry and the puppets known as politicians. Rex Tillerson, Wilbur Ross, Steven Mnuchin and Donald Trump will forget more about titanic power-playing warfare than any of their current political colleagues will ever know; it’s the underpinning of their capacity to outwit all opponents. The inequity factor increases when the worlds merge and one of the most instinctually well versed industrial titans decides to enter the sphere of politics. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, the fourth to target Christians since December, but it bore the hallmarks of the Islamic State group. Islamic militants have for years been waging an insurgency mostly centered in the restive northern part of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, although a growing number of attacks have recently also taken place on the mainland. We all know the stereotypical Fox News viewer (at least as the Mainstream Media presents them in pop culture): older, bourgeois, angry, white, male (think Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino). To be sure, elderly Baby Boomers of a particular race and socio-economic standing do comprise a large share of Fox News’ traditional audience. Yet, the bulk of Fox’s audience is tuning in for the conservative, ideological pretensions. With the recent shakeup at Fox, this fact was apparently missed. Indeed, Fox is intent on playing identity politics over ideological politics as it seeks to maintain an audience. As you’ll see, this

The British government resumed its intelligence sharing with the U.S. late Thursday following a one-day suspension after the New York Times published sensitive intelligence originally from the U.K., according to the National Police Chiefs Council. English police said the change comes after "having received fresh assurances" that information shared with intelligence counterparts in the U.S. would not be leaked again, one report said. Yesterday, the Times published photos of bomb parts used in Monday night´s terror attack in Manchester. British officials worried the sharing of sensitive information could hurt their investigation.

Hillary Clinton suggested her campaign rival President Trump will get impeached, in sharp remarks in a commencement address Friday where she brought up ´obstruction of justice´ and warned of the steps to authoritarianism. Speaking to gowned graduates at the school where she addressed students in 1969, Clinton referenced the resignation of President Richard Nixon and a House committee´s impeachment investigation – but it was clear to graduating students what she was really talking about. ´We were furious about the past presidential election of a man whose presidency would eventually end in disgrace with his impeachment for obstruction of justice,´ the

Republican Greg Gianforte won Thursday’s special election for the U.S. House in Montana, defeating Democratic challenger Rob Quist despite being charged with misdemeanor assault the day before. WASHINGTON — Shortly after President Trump took office, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the majority leader, met privately with his colleagues to discuss the Republican agenda. Repealing the Affordable Care Act was at the top, he said. But replacing it would be really hard. Mr. McConnell was right. The many meetings Republicans held to discuss a Senate health care bill have exposed deep fissures within the party that are almost as large as the differences between Republicans and Democrats. Elements of a bill that passed the House this month have divided Republicans. Mr. McConnell faces an increasingly onerous math problem.

New revelations have surfaced that the Obama administration abused intelligence during the election by launching a massive domestic-spy campaign that included snooping on Trump officials. The irony is mind-boggling: Targeting political opposition is long a technique of police states like Russia, which Team Obama has loudly condemned for allegedly using its own intelligence agencies to hack into our election. The revelations, as well as testimony this week from former Obama intel officials, show the extent to which the Obama administration politicized and weaponized intelligence against Americans.
