Chuck Schumer calls for chaos
New York Post, by Editorial

Original Article

It’s right out of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”: The ghost of Chuck Schumer past issuing a dire warning to today’s Senate minority leader. Back in 2013, recall, a GOP effort to defund ObamaCare in a federal spending bill led to a 16-day shutdown of the federal government. Democrats were irate (as they always are when Republicans advance their policies), and none more so than Schumer, who explained how his party was above the fray. “You know,” he said on ABC’s “This Week,” “we could do the same thing on immigration reform. We believe strongly in immigration reform. We could say, ‘We’re

He is counting on the press convincing the American people that it is the Republicans who are shutting down government because they will not give in to the Democrats.

To be "fair" to Schumer, his handlers probably pointed to Harry Reid and told Schumer he had an exercise equipment accident in his future if he didn´t toe the line.

President Trump Should Run, Not Walk,

The Federalist, by Joseph Bast    Original Article

Top officials in the Trump administration apparently are debating whether to withdraw from the Paris Climate Treaty, an agreement negotiated in the waning years of the Obama administration that would commit the United States to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 28 percent relative to 2005 levels by the year 2025. The Heartland Institute has been studying climate change for nearly two decades. Our advice to the Trump administration is simple: Run, don’t walk, away from the Paris Climate Treaty! Here are our reasons for this recommendation. Sources for our statements are readily found here and here. There Is No

It´s not elites vs. populists.
It´s cities vs. the countryside.

Across the West, from the U.K.´s Brexit to the rise of Donald Trump in the U.S., societies are dividing along similar fault lines. But we can´t quite agree on how to describe it: Neoliberal centrists vs. antiliberal extremists? Elites vs. populists? Globalists vs. nationalists? The establishment vs. the working class? Each of those dichotomies captures something about our present moment, but none of them gets at the fundamentals — the sociological core of what we´re all living through, which is a growing socio-cultural chasm pitting the city and the countryside against each other. In an important essay for The Washington Post, Will

In 2011, Dennis Kucinich was still a Democratic congressman from Ohio. But he was not walking in lockstep with President Obama — at least not on Libya. True to his anti-war leanings, Kucinich was a staunch opponent of Obama’s unauthorized war against the Qaddafi regime. Kucinich’s very public efforts included trying to broker negotiations between the administration and the Qaddafi regime, to whom the White House was turning a deaf ear. It was in that context that he took a call in his Washington office from Saif al-Islam Qaddafi, the ruler’s son and confidant. Four years later, as he recalled

A Few Questions for Trump´s

Generally speaking, there are two fundamental types of critiques of the controversial Donald Trump: the honest analytical kind and the partisan political-hack kind. It´s too bad so many of the president´s most loyal followers can´t tell the difference between the two. The other night, on Bill O´Reilly´s TV show, I said that I thought President Trump did the right thing in attacking Syria. I said, "I´m glad that he was moved by those images and did what he did." But I also said, "It´s important, I think, to point out that if you question what he did and you point out the

Nearly twenty military veterans wounded in action in Iraq and Afghanistan tackled the Boston Marathon on Monday. The "Freedom Team," sponsored by Achilles International, trained the veterans and boasts bringing the largest field of disabled athletes to races like the Boston Marathon. Several team members are amputees and have lost limbs while serving. Boston´s world famous Marathon is not for the faint of heart, spanning 26.2-miles and includes "heart break hill" – located at mile 20 of the race. A local CBS reporter captured this incredible moment as a member of the Freedom Team carried his guide, holding an American Flag, across the

They were called Doolittle’s Raiders. It was a raid planned in retaliation for the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was an intrepid plan staffed with all brave volunteers on a one-way trip to bomb Tokyo and then try to bail out or crash land in China. The mission consisted of 16 modified B-25 bombers with nicknames like “Whiskey Pete,” “Ruptured Duck,” “Whirling Dervish,” “Hari-Kari-er,” “Fickle Finger,” and “The Avenger,” loaded onto the U.S. Navy’s aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-8) and headed deep into enemy territory in the Pacific. What Chicago really needs
New York Post, by Editorial    Original Article

Easter weekend was Chicago’s bloodiest since New Year’s, with 45 shootings, at least two of them fatal — a bad sign heading into the warmer months. The Windy City’s only consolation is that it’s doing better than last year: 915 shootings so far, vs. 955 in the same period in 2016. Homicides are also down, from 171 to 166. But the numbers are still higher than New York’s, though Chicago has about one-third the Big Apple’s population. And the NYPD continues to bring its own crime stats down, year after year — progress it’s continued to deliver (with occasional setbacks) ever since

Democrats are pumping millions into the Georgia congressional election set for Tuesday, hoping a 30-year-old political upstart who´s attracting star power can deliver a rebuke to President Trump and help the party reclaim lost momentum. Hollywood has even come out for the off-cycle vote, with actor Samuel L. Jackson cutting a radio ad urging voters to flip the seat once held by Republican Tom Price, who is now Trump´s health secretary. “Vote for the Democratic Party. Stop Donald Trump, a man who encourages racial and religious discrimination and sexism,” Jackson says in the ad, casting the race as a chance to undermine

By all accounts, Jared Kushner, the husband of President Trump´s favorite daughter, has become an extraordinarily powerful man in the White House. To formally appoint Kushner a senior adviser, with a top security clearance, the president sought and received a Justice Department opinion declaring the White House exempt from federal anti-nepotism laws. That meant Kushner could have an official White House title to go along with his trusted-member-of-the-family influence.

There’s an ominous rumble of war in Korea, there’s always an ominous rumble of war in the Middle East, but in Washington we’ve already got the real thing. The combatants are taking no prisoners and the rules of the Geneva Convention do not apply. This war is ugly, likely to be bloody and won’t ever end, because to the victor goes the ultimate turf and territory, the ear of the president. Donald Trump’s passion for making America great again is not something that easily translates into policy. He relies on advice from key aides, policymakers, a select group of outsiders, and his

President Trump has an opportunity to unilaterally halt an unconstitutional corporate welfare scheme, deal Obamacare a mortal blow, and save the taxpayers more than $100 billion. U.S. District Judge Rosemary Collyer ruled last year that the Obama administration had unconstitutionally dispensed subsidies to insurers, holding that it had flouted the Appropriations Clause by doling out “cost sharing reduction” (CSR) payments that hadn’t been authorized by Congress. The Obama administration later filed an appeal but didn’t have time to pursue the case further. President Trump has the power and the duty to drop that appeal and stop these unconstitutional CSR payments

This Washington Post story about a journalism dispute between Bob Woodward and ghost writer Barbara Feinman Todd is of little interest qua dispute. However, it pertains to a remarkable story about which I had forgotten — Hillary Clinton’s imaginary conversations, during her time as First Lady, with Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi. As far as I can tell, the matter was not raised or noted by the mainstream media during the 2016 presidential campaign. I didn’t mention it either, but would have had I remembered it. Donald J. Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in November came as a shock to the world. Polls, news reports and everything the Clinton campaign was hearing in the final days pointed to her becoming the first female president in American history. In their compelling new book, “Shattered,” the journalists Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes write that Clinton’s loss suddenly made sense of all the reporting they had been doing for a year and a half — reporting that had turned up all sorts of “foreboding signs” that often seemed at odds, in real time, with indications that Clinton was the favorite

No President in American history has ever golfed more per week than Donald Trump. In his first 12 weeks in office Trump took a staggering 18 golf course trips. That´s unheard of. In his first 12 weeks in office, President Obama didn´t visit a single golf course. By the end of this year, it´s likely that Trump will have golfed more than President Obama has in his entire presidency. And that´s strange. It´s really strange. Because Donald Trump and other conservative pundits seemed to be deeply bothered by the times President Obama went out and golfed. It appeared to genuinely offend

When Bill O’Reilly left for vacation on April 11, he stressed that the break was pre-planned to counter the notion that it had something to do with with the New York Times’ revelation that five women were paid $13 million to settle harassment claims against him. A week later, it looks increasingly unlikely that he’ll ever return to his show. New York’s Gabriel Sherman reported on Tuesday afternoon that “the Murdochs are leaning toward announcing that O’Reilly will not return to the air,” according to three sources. Later that evening multiple outlets said support for O’Reilly is eroding within Fox News.

Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore says he’s “on fire” creatively in his “Easter Dinner Reflections” Facebook post. Why? It’s all about “removing a sitting president,” he says in his @mmflint Twitter promo for the Facebook commentary. Moore’s just not sure what the best media vehicle is for him to “take him down." He explains in his “Reflections”: “I think I need to make a movie. Or bring back my weekly series to TV. Or stand on a stage and howl. Or something. Or anything. Or all of it.” Moore ponders his options: "Can a simple movie actually bring down a sitting

Hillary Clinton phoned Barack Obama on election night after conceding defeat and told him: ‘I’m sorry’. The Democratic Presidential candidate stepped into an anteroom for the conversation to apologize for losing to Donald Trump in a conversation which has never previously been reported. As she took the call Clinton knew she had ‘let her country down’ and that Obama’s legacy lay ‘shattered at Donald Trump’s feet’, a new book reveals. Minutes earlier Clinton had called Trump and suppressed ‘the anger that touched every nerve in her body’ as she conceded. She said: ‘Congratulations, Donald. ‘I’ll be supportive of the country’s success and that means

An article in the Guardian last week provides more confirmation that John Brennan was the American progenitor of political espionage aimed at defeating Donald Trump. One side did collude with foreign powers to tip the election — Hillary’s. Seeking to retain his position as CIA director under Hillary, Brennan teamed up with British spies and Estonian spies to cripple Trump’s candidacy. He used their phony intelligence as a pretext for a multi-agency investigation into Trump, which led the FBI to probe a computer server connected to Trump Tower and gave cover to Susan Rice, among other Hillary supporters, to spy on
