Sen. Ted Cruz: GOP’s three-phase
health plan ‘ain’t gonna happen’

Washington Times, by Tom Howell, Jr.

Original Article

Sen. Ted Cruz on Sunday said a House plan to repeal and replace Obamacare is fatally flawed because it relies on a three-pronged plan for totally gutting the 2010 law instead of killing it outright. GOP leaders have urged their troops to rally around a bill that repeals Obamacare’s mandate requiring people to hold insurance or pay a tax, replaces its subsidies with refundable age-based tax credits and reels in and caps funding for Medicaid, the government insurance program for the poor. The bill relies on arcane budget rules to avoid a Democratic filibuster in the Senate

Of course its never going to happen. I dont base the prediction on any specifics, just the general truth that a politicians promise is worth less than an addict´s promise. They say what they must to get what they want this instant. They have no intention of following through with anything they promised for the future.
If it isn´t on the table right now, it isn´t going to happen. Having an R after their name does not change that in the slightest.

"GOP leaders have urged their troops"
I don´t send my "representative" to Washington to be instructed by Paul or Mitch as to how they must vote.
Trump was not elected by people who respect the GOP leaders. He was sent to drain the swamp!
As disappointed as I am in Ted Cruz, he is right on this.

I am sick of the ego of our politicians.

Being elected does not automatically give the super power of being correct in all decisions.
Or knowing something the others don´t.

Get off your dang high horses and get some work done, like our President.

What´s going to happen is that Dems and rebel Republicans will block any revision to Obamacare. It will continue on the present trajectory and collapse within a year. Then the media will condemn Republicans for not saving it in a reasonable time frame.

The old Washington 2 Step.

1) Present a total wreck of deliberately mine-loaded legislation, Offer no real support for it from the leadership, call a vote on it and watch it go down in flames- blame others for the failure:

2) Get on cameras with a grim face: "Well, we tried. We really, really tried!"

Go get re-elected.

A day after a terror attack in his city left three people dead and as many as 40 wounded, London Mayor Sadiq Khan says he has more important things to do than respond to a tweet from Donald Trump Jr. Wednesday, President Trump´s son tweeted, "You have to be kidding me?!" in response Khan´s assertion in 2016 to The Independent newspaper that terror attacks are "part and parcel" of living in a major city. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus went to the White House today for their first official meeting with President Donald Trump. The meeting, which comes five weeks after Trump asked a reporter at a press conference to help set up a discussion with the group, was organized primarily to discuss Trump’s new budget proposal, which Chairman Cedric Richmond, D-Louisiana, said at a press conference this afternoon would be “devastating” for the African-American community. Rep. Karen Bass, D-California, said that the group raised “several areas of concern” but added that it was a “positive first start.” According to Bass

The impact sent Kurt, a 54-year-old musician, plunging to his death onto a stone landing below the walkway. Melissa, 46, was left splayed out on the roadway, with a broken leg and rib and blood

When it comes to repealing and replacing Obamacare, defenders of President Barack Obama´s signature domestic law constantly ask, "What about those with pre-existing illnesses?" After all, the most popular feature of Obamacare is that it prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage because an applicant has a pre-existing illness. And President Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan insist that those with pre-existing conditions will be covered. But by agreeing with Obama on the issue of pre-existing illnesses, by promising to replace Obamacare "with something better," Republicans are making a massive concession: That access to health care insurance should be guaranteed by

If the vote goes forward, then they either have the votes or are just a handful away and will try to twist some arms on the House floor. How many votes the GOP leadership has is

The ever-charming Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democrats’ pit-bull Senate minority leader, said today that he will not vote to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court and that Democrats will filibuster the nomination. This is about as surprising as learning the sun will come up in the East tomorrow. Here’s how Schumer, as predictable as he is charming, phrased it: “After careful deliberation I have concluded that I cannot support Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court.” What a knee-slapper. Sen. Rand Paul praised House conservatives for blocking the Obamacare repeal bill Thursday, but said the White House could easily break the impasse if it would agree to send Vice President Mike Pence up to preside over the eventual Senate debate. Mr. Paul said that would give Republicans a chance to head off the parliamentarian and reinterpret the budget process rules that have tied GOP leaders’ hands in what kind of bill they’re able to bring to the floor while avoiding a Democratic filibuster. “That alone I think would break the logjam and get things going,” Mr. Paul, Kentucky Republican, told reporters. A group of Senate Democrats is beginning to explore trying to extract concessions from Republicans in return for allowing Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to be confirmed, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. The lawmakers worry that Gorsuch could be confirmed whether Democrats try to block him or not — and Democrats would be left with nothing to show for it. That would be a bitter pill after the GOP blocked Merrick Garland for nearly a year. The deal Democrats would be most likely to pursue, the sources said, would be to allow confirmation of Gorsuch in exchange for a

In the last three months of the Obama presidency, significant personal information from and about the Trump transition was collected and widely disseminated at intelligence agencies, according to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes. Dozens of intelligence reports provided to Nunes by an unnamed whistleblower were floating around during the sensitive transition period following the election, he said. The information collection itself may have technically been legal, but the failure to properly mask the information “alarmed” the California congressman, who notified the White House of the surveillance and dissemination of information on Wednesday afternoon. President Trump is facing the first crucial test of his presidency — repealing and replacing Obamacare — and he needs to apply the negotiating chops and deal-making skills he bragged about in his bestselling book, “The Art of the Deal,” to fixing our broken health-care system. Dealing with the Obamacare mess has been the core focus of the Republican party for the past 7 years — not to mention a major campaign promise that helped propel Donald Trump to the White House.
