Grassley tweets at Trump:

The Hill, by Cyra Master

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) tweeted at President Trump Sunday evening, trying to get his attention and support on a bipartisan bill on a certain kind of visa. Grassley tweeted after a CBS News “60 Minutes” report on the H1B visa program that allows foreign workers with “specialty occupations” to work in the United States. The “60 Minutes” report focused on American workers who’ve had to train their replacements before losing their jobs. Grassley seized on the broadcast news program’s report to tout a bill he’s sponsoring with Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) that he says would “correct this injustice.” In subsequent tweets,

Numerous newspaper articles over the years have exposed this gross H1B visa abuse to the detriment of US citizens. Chuckie didn´t do anything then so why does he suddenly hyperventilate now?

This is silly. I would be very surprised if a US Senator couldn´t call up the White House and get a meeting with the President very easily.

H1Bs are BS. My wife worked at a world-wide engineering company and they brought many Indian engineers into the USA to work under H1Bs - why? Because they get paid less, of course.

H1B visas infected my company and began pushing out American Engineers and IT workers, replacing them with low-cost types, who dared not complain about anything for fear of expulsion.
Does anyone remember 1864??

If you thought that winning both chambers of Congress, the White House, and the most state-level offices in almost 100 years had put the Republican civil war to bed, you thought wrong. The ideological struggle within the Republican Party that typified the 2016 election cycle has subsided, but conservatives, populists, and moderates are still waging a war of ideas. The stakes of the fight are nothing less than dominance within the American right, and the latest battlefield on which that struggle is being waged is the fight over ObamaCare’s replacement. For many on the right, the first draft of the

The city is ordering schools staffers not to allow immigration agents to enter school buildings, Mayor de Blasio announced Tuesday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will be turned away from city schools unless they have a warrant signed by a judge, which city lawyers deem valid, according to a new policy being issued to principals. There have not been any incidents where ICE agents have tried to get in to city schools, but de Blasio said the city wanted to have clear rules in place in case it happens. “We want to be very clear to parents that we’re not allowing ICE

Groundbreaking chef Marcus Samuelsson is in Sweden mourning the loss of the woman who once kept him fed: his adoptive mom. Restaurant insiders have been buzzing all week that Samuelsson, who can usually be found ruling over his Red Rooster eatery, hadn’t been seen in a while. When Black Lives Matter protesters randomly interrupted diners Tuesday night, his usually calming presence was especially missed. "You need to take that s--t downtown to the 21 Club!" yelled one staffer, telling protesters they were targeting the wrong crowd. As it turns out, Samuelsson was overseas, where he had much bigger fish to

There’s truth to President Trump’s claim that his iconic Midtown skyscraper was wiretapped during the Obama ?a?dministration — only Trump wasn’t the target. The FBI listened in on phone conversations and monitored text messages for two years ending in 2013 while probing a sports-betting and money-laundering ring tied to the Russian mob that operated out of a swanky pad in Trump Tower, ABC News reported Tuesday. The apartment, unit 63A, is located just three floors below Trump’s lavish penthouse, ABC said. “Everything was moving in and out of there,” said ex-FBI official Rich Frankel, who’s now a consultant

The Trump team’s early forays into Asia couldn’t have gone better. In early February, Defense Secretary James Mattis received high praise for his trip to Tokyo and Seoul, reassuring nervous allies that the Trump administration would continue decades of American leadership in Asia. A week later, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe braved a visit to the White House and was rewarded with President Donald Trump reaffirming the importance of the U.S.-Japan alliance. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was poised to ride this momentum into Northeast Asia last week, but instead sustained a series of self-inflicted wounds. Before even departing Washington,

American and Ukrainian officials are pushing to question President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort in separate investigations related to his work for a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine once headed by that country’s disgraced former president Viktor Yanukovych. Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) told Politico that Manafort “would certainly be at the top of my list to testify” before the House Intelligence Committee’s ongoing investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. The panel held its first public hearing Monday, featuring hours of testimony from FBI Director James Comey, who publicly acknowledged for the first time that his

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for a delay of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation on Tuesday given the ongoing FBI investigation into potential collusion between President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russian officials. “You can bet, if the shoe were on the other foot and a Democratic president was under investigation by the FBI, the Republicans would be howling at the moon about filling a Supreme Court seat in such circumstances,” Schumer said on the floor. Schumer’s demand is highly unlikely to gain traction with Senate GOP leaders, who are planning a vote on Gorsuch early next month. But the move

We truly live in two Americas. Every day the divide between Democrats and Republicans, Trump fans and Trump haters, seems to grow deeper. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), ranking Democrat of the committee, described originalism as a "very troubling” jurisprudential approach.
