In the left-leaning Big Apple, it’s a fashion faux pas more fatal than walking around in sandals with socks, or strapping a fanny pack around your waist: wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat. To see for myself, I sported the fire-engine red baseball cap worn by Donald Trump on the campaign trail in liberal gin joints and shops across Manhattan and Brooklyn. I may as well have been wearing a Red Sox hat at Yankee Stadium. The mere sight of my cap nearly caused a riot at the historic Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street — site of the 1969 riots
Comments: Scenes of illiberal intolerance in the Progressively Rotten Apple. Amusing piece.
Funny, I wore that same hat all over the Alabama Gulf Coast this weekend and was complimented multiple times. In fact, a group of very well behaved college students asked to have their picture taken with me on the beach because of my hat--and they were very sincere in how happy they are that Trump won and that their futures are much brighter.
Lesson. Forget New York. Spend your money in great states like Alabama!
Funny how gays loved Obama, who let homosexual-hating Muslims into the country willy-nilly, but they loathe Trump, who would keep out those who would do them harm. Also, Obama was against gay marriage before he was for it.
Obama did not do anything for blacks in eight years, while Trump wants to stop the killing and gang violence. Funny which one of the presidents the blacks hate.
Just like schoolkids. They hate who the cool kids tell them to hate.
Next to that story is a girl who tried this out too and was asked by bar managers to remove the hat. Now would they ask people to remove Obama hats? Isn´t that total discrimination, can we sue them and hurt them like they hurt the bakers and the florist who do not want to serve gays. I want to get these people, and make them suffer and pay, like they do to all of us. They are the true authoritarians and such freaking hypocrites.
I suppose liberals don´t want to make America great again, because if everyone worked hard and got along, the liberals would be out of business.
Or worse, they think that an America with BLM snipers shooting sitting-duck cops in their cars, criminal flash mobs looting stores, gays suing Christian businesses and hairy perverts clad in dresses taking potty breaks in the ladies´ room is already great and needs no changes.
Hepatitis C infection increased by nearly 300 percent among intravenous drug users, according to a new study released by the National Center for Disease Control. There were over 19,000 deaths in 2015 associated with hepatitis C, exceeding “the combined number of deaths with 60 other infectious diseases as underlying causes,” according to the CDC. There are believed to be between 2.7 million and 3.9 million people in the U.S. with a chronic case of hepatitis C, a viral infection that leads to inflammation of the liver, responsible for an estimated 19,659 deaths in 2014. Mortality associated with hepatitis C has
Former Attorney General Eric Holder slammed the current leader of the Justice Department’s decision to roll back policies he had implemented as part of a broader effort to reform the criminal justice system. Calling Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ new sentencing and charging memo “unwise” and “ill-informed,” Mr. Holder said the change in policy “is not tough on crime. It is dumb on crime.” In a statement on the new policy, announced Friday, Mr. Holder said the decision “ignores a rare bipartisan political consensus that has formed around sentencing reform effort and will take this nation back to a discredited past.”
Salt Lake City — The Mormon church, the largest sponsor of Boy Scouts troops in the United States, announced Thursday it is pulling older teenagers from the organization as the religion takes a step toward developing its own global scouting-like program. The Utah-based religion´s announcement means an estimated 130,000-180,000 teenagers ages 14-18 will no longer participate in Boy Scouts starting next year, a significant loss for the Boy Scouts of America. Younger Mormon boys will remain in Boy Scouts. (Snip) The loss is only a fraction of the 2.3 million youth in Boy Scouts, but the organization has been grappling with declining
Workers wearing face masks, bulletproof vests and helmets Thursday morning removed the statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in New Orleans, the second of four Confederate monuments slated for removal in a contentious, months-long process that has sparked protests on both sides. As the statue was lifted from its perch on a grassy median along one of the city´s main thoroughfares, a cheer went up from some of the dozens of protesters on the scene who have been pushing for the monument´s removal. It was then lowered behind trucks encircled around the monument´s base and out of view of media
Macy’s reported a much bigger-than-expected drop in quarterly profit and sales, continuing its uphill struggle to attract customers amid a slump in demand for apparel and the shift toward shopping online. Macy’s shares fell as much as 10 percent to $26.40 on Thursday to levels last seen in 2011, and pulled down shares of rivals across the department store industry. Sales at Macy’s stores open at least a year, including sales in departments licensed to third parties, fell 4.6 percent in the first quarter. A Broward teen who was seen in a viral video throwing a 68-year-old woman into a pool during a party is on house arrest. The 16-year-old from Margate must wear a tracking ankle bracelet, but he’s allowed to go to Coral Springs High School and church. The teen turned himself in after the video showed condo officer Nancy James tackled and tossed while trying to quiet a party at a North Lauderdale development’s pool area. The teen was charged as a juvenile with battery on a person 65 years of age or older. A judge gave him 21 days
Members of the violent MS-13 gang — one of them “with no legal status” in the U.S. — and an associate were collared Wednesday for beating and shooting a suspected Queens gang rival. Brooklyn federal prosecutors say MS-13 members Jose “Flaco” Gonzalez and Kevin “Stomper” Paniagua, both 18, hunted down the now-paralyzed victim in October with 23-year-old associate Francisco Ramos. Ramos allegedly drove the men and an unidentified minor also in the gang to Jamaica, Queens, in search of a man they thought was part of their top competition, the 18th Street Gang. Gonzalez allegedly claimed their target
President Trump went on the warpath Wednesday night — tweeting out a highlight reel of old news clips and public appeals made by politicians who urged James Comey to step down, but are now blasting him for firing the FBI Director. “The Democrats should be ashamed,” Trump tweeted, along with the 2 minute video. (Snip) The clip features a who’s-who list of Comey critics — including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.); House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi; Senator Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY); Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV); Sen. Chris Murphy (D., Conn.); Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Cali.); Rep. Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.);
A man who has been deported to Mexico 15 times pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony drunk driving in a crash that fractured the skull of a 6-year-old boy. The parents of Lennox Lake, who was hospitalized after the weekend crash, didn’t go to court for the arraignment. “He’s a tough kid,” Benjamin Lake said. “He wants to go home, to his brothers, his dog, to play on his computer and go to the park.” (Snip) Constantino Banda-Acosta, 38, is suspected of speeding through a stop sign in San Ysidro and plowing into the family’s car. St. Olaf College’s president told the campus Wednesday that a fellow student confessed to writing a note with racist and threatening content and admitted that it was “fabricated” as an apparent “strategy to draw attention to concerns about the campus climate.” (Snip) Wells said that the anonymous typewritten note left on her windshield said in total: “I am so glad you are leaving soon. One less [N-word] this school has to deal with. You have spoken up too much. You will change nothing. Shut up or I will shut you up.” Also Wednesday, Northfield police told the Star Tribune that they
North Arlington — Queen of Peace High School will refund registration fees made for next school year and return money donated in a campaign intended to pay for the school´s future expenses after announcing that the school is closing, officials said. Queen of Peace raised $66,214 since September as part of a campaign jumpstarted by a donor who agreed to match any monies raised up to $500,000. (Snip) Among the factors that Donovan said contributed to the school closing were the state´s high property taxes, a declining school-age population and a smaller interest in families wanting their children to get
A new NYPD directive forbids cops from entering a residence in response to a noise complaint — unless they’re given permission. The directive, a copy of which has been obtained by The Post, means loud partiers can simply tell the cops who come to their door to just go away. (Snip) A week after it was issued, the directive had already outraged brass and rank-and-file cops alike, who warned Wednesday that neighborhoods will suffer from sleepless nights and trash, and that the NYPD will lose the vital ability to police out-of-control parties by known or suspected gang members.
A pair of top House Democrats is calling on the White House to hand over any possible "tapes" of conversations between President Trump and former FBI Director James Comey and all communications relating to his dismissal. In a letter to White House counsel Don McGahn, Reps. John Conyers, D-Michigan, and Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, asked for the materials following Mr. Trump´s tweet Friday morning in which he suggested that "tapes" might exist and that Comey should hope that there are none. Under normal circumstances, we would not consider credible any claims that the White House may have taped conversations of meetings
The tectonic plates of cable news ratings are shifting, as Fox News struggles to recover from sexual harassment scandals and the departure of its most popular host, Bill O’Reilly. As the de facto champion of conservative views in the mass media, Fox News plays a vital role in the conservative movement, and these developments are a little scary, even for those of us who resent the recent drift of the channel. The TV Newser ratings summaries tell the story. Compare the data from random pre-scandal date of Thursday, November 17, 2016 with the latest Thursday, May 11. Pre-scandal, DNC comfortably
A fiery Michelle Obama vigorously defended the healthy eating initiative that was her biggest legacy as First Lady on Friday, telling a public health summit in Washington D.C. that something was “wrong” with an administration that did not want to give consumers nutrition information or teach children to eat healthily. “We gotta make sure we don’t let anybody take us back,” Obama said. “This is where you really have to look at motives, you know. You have to stop and think, why don’t you want our kids to have good food at school? What is wrong with you? And why is
President Trump is considering at least four people with law enforcement experience to replace James Comey as FBI director, according to a new Bloomberg report. Among those being considered is House Benghazi Committee chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.), a former federal prosecutor, and former Bush administration Justice Department official Alice Fisher, according to a White House official. Former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers and former New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly are also on Trump´s list. The list is likely to grow, according to the official: Trump once called Gowdy´s Benghazi hearings a "disaster," suggesting they fell short Text corrected by Staff*
Not long ago, a friend was reciting things she needed to do before celebrating Passover with her family: preparing the ritual foods, doing something special for her grandchildren and making room for her daughter’s in-laws. Exhausted by the list, she looked at me and said, “It’s not easy being Jewish.” I know the feeling. I’m a Donald Trump supporter. The president rarely makes it easy on the faithful, often testing his tribe through errant word and deed. Even on his best days, he manages to insert a hurdle or two or 10. The James Comey affair is the perfect example. On substance, Trump made
This is a “golden age of journalism” wrote New York Times reporter Sopan Deb on Wednesday. And to prove his point the next day the media created a scandal out of a report that President Donald Trump was served two scoops of ice cream with his pie while having dinner with Time magazine reporters, while the reporters were served only one scoop. The waiters know well Trump’s personal preferences. As he settles down, they bring him a Diet Coke, while the rest of us are served water, with the Vice President sitting at one end of the table. With the
Now that FBI Director James Comey has been fired, partially for his handling of the Clinton email scandal, many are wondering if a newly appointed director will take a second look at the case. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, whose attorneys have worked overtime to expose the extent to which Clinton and her aides went in mishandling classified information on an unsecured private server, says it´s certainly a possibility. "I think it [Clinton´s case] needs to be reevaluated not only under a new FBI Director but under the new leadership of the Justice Department. Comey misdirected the investigation by suggested they needed
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) took multiple swipes at the Trump administration during a commencement address Friday, days after President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. Warren pivoted to Trump during a speech at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, offering suggestions for specific causes graduates could get more involved in. "I´m trying to keep this apolitical but I can´t help myself ... the principle that no one, no one in this country is above the law and we need a Justice Department, not an obstruction of justice department," Warren said. Democrats have honed in on Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy
Barack and Michelle Obama may no longer be in the White House, but their work is far from done. While speaking at the Partnership for a Healthier America Summit on Friday, the former first lady vowed that she and her husband would continue championing the causes they fought for in office, including her own signature issues of nutrition and health. "We´re not gone, we´re just breathing, y´all. Let us breathe," she joked during her conversation with Sam Kass, President Obama´s former White House chef and senior food policy advisor. "We´ve got to get our new lives set up." That includes
U.S. Senator John Cornyn will no longer deliver the commencement address at Texas Southern University this weekend, the school said on Friday, after U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was booed at another historically black university. More than 800 people signed a petition started by a Texas Southern University student who opposed the university’s invitation to the Republican senator to speak at Saturday’s graduation in Houston. The petition said Cornyn’s backing of DeVos and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, among other things, showed that he supported “discriminatory policies and politicians.” “We have the right to decide if we want to refuse to
And this kook is the Chief ABC Political Analyst! (Photo) Is is too much to ask liberal, anti-Christian, anti-American reporters to have just a little bit of knowledge of the world? ABC Chief Political Analyst Matthew Dowd claims Muslims in America a “bigger problem” than the persecution of Christians in the Middle East. Dowd was responding to a tweet by Shannon Bream at FOX News who was excited to announce her interview with Franklin Graham on Friday. (Tweet) Dowd’s tweet is still up. Last month ISIS murdered 37 Coptic Christians at church in Egypt on Palm Sunday. The first explosion
Rep. Maxine Waters — and I’m betting at this point, that’s all I have to write, that you already know where the story leads. If you guessed an impeach Trump theme, you’re quite right. (Snip) “The circumstances are such that he’s in the middle of an investigation and he gets fired,” she said of Comey, as Breitbart noted. “And it appears that this president has admitted that he interfered with the investigation by asking him if, in fact, he was under investigation. So I don’t think that’s hypocritical at all. The hypocrisy lies with this president. This man lies every day. He changes his story. He does not even realize that most people
