Shortly after winning the presidency, Donald Trump met with U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara at Trump Tower. When Bharara left the meeting, he informed reporters that the president-elect had asked if he were willing to remain in his post, and that he had answered in the affirmative. Just under two months into Trump’s presidency, the White House asked Bharara and 45 other U.S. Attorneys to resign. Bharara refused to tender his resignation. He was then fired. Bharara announced his unemployment on Twitter, and then posted this enigmatic remark:
since the major part of this is trades by a money manager, not Price himself, i doubt this will go anywhere. if there is substance, any prosecutor can handle. Preet leaving has zero effect. therefore, all smoke: no fire.
....St. Preet is a corrupt dem hack.... where was he on the Andrew Cuomo investigations??
...let´s see...there was the "Three Men In A Room in Albany" ... 2 go to jail for corruption... the third - Prince Andrew - isn´t even brought in for a cup of coffee...??
...then there is the "Buffalo Billion Scandal" ... the top 8 developers are indicted for corruption, but the person in charge of the billion dollar project - Prince Andrew - again escapes clean as a whistle.
...Preet is Chuckie Schumer´s butt-boy...and no matter how obviously corrupt cuomo is, Preet knows better than to mess with the dems´ probable next pres cnadidate...
The "Law", like The Press, commits it´s most routine crimes and sins by omission.
No trace....no story....no problem.
The Law has the advantage of ´Slow Walking´ an obviously guilty perp (Read: Clinton) until the case becomes old news and feels like a witch hunt that never ends ....because it was never really started.
This is the way that corrupt leftist officials have worked for years. They only investigate "enemies", while they let partisans from their side run free. Just like hiding the culprits party when a dem does it, and trumpeting the party when a Republican is involved, even if it´s only an investigation, especially a politically driven one. Don´t be fooled.
I read a good deal about Dr. Price when he was being persecuted by Dem Senators during his hearing. He did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong. Shame on the already shameful NY Magazine for even publishing this story. I won´t give them the click. As for Bharara, good riddance to bad rubbish. The Democrats can have him, they are birds of a feather.
When the White House backed off its efforts to dump Sebastian Gorka on another federal agency, the controversial counterterrorism advisor had the president himself to thank, The Daily Beast has learned. After news emerged last week that the Trump administration was setting the stage to move the British-born national security aide out of the White House, President Donald Trump and his chief strategist Stephen Bannon “personally intervened” to put a halt to Gorka’s White House eviction, two senior administration sources said.
Jim DeMint´s ouster from The Heritage Foundation came as a shock to the hundreds of scholars and staffers who´ve seen the organization´s political influence grow thanks to DeMint’s controversial decision to align the leading conservative think tank closely with Donald Trump. But interviews with over a dozen sources at the center of the drama suggest Heritage´s stewards — particularly DeMint´s predecessor, Ed Feulner, and Feulner´s sharp-elbowed protégé, Mike Needham — became convinced that DeMint was incapable of renewing the foundation´s place as an intellectual wellspring of the conservative movement. Days of speculation, tension, and internal bickering came to a close on Tuesday:
Thousands of labor and immigrant right activists took to the streets Monday for a wave of protests in conjunction with May Day, a day that sparks protests annually among progressives but which took on a sharper edge this year over concerns about President Donald Trump´s agenda. Across the country, groups urged immigrant workers to skip work, school and shopping to demonstrate their impact on the economy. In Austin, activists staged a sit-in at the governor´s office at the capitol complex to protest a bill increasing immigration enforcement in Texas.
The Trump administration is discontinuing a signature girls education initiative championed by former first lady Michelle Obama, according to officials. The "Let Girls Learn" program, which she and President Barack Obama started in 2015 to facilitate educational opportunities for adolescent girls in developing countries, will cease operation immediately, according to an internal document obtained by CNN. While aspects of the initiative´s programming will continue, employees have been told to stop using the "Let Girls Learn" name and were told that, as a program unto itself, "Let Girls Learn" was ending.
WASHINGTON — When President Trump called President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines on Saturday, White House officials saw it as part of a routine diplomatic outreach to Southeast Asian leaders. Mr. Trump, characteristically, had his own ideas.During their “very friendly conversation,” the administration said in a late-night statement, Mr. Trump invited Mr. Duterte, an authoritarian leader accused of ordering extrajudicial killings of drug suspects in the Philippines, to visit him at the White House. Now, the administration is bracing for an avalanche of criticism from human rights groups. Two senior officials said they expected the State Department and the National Security
In December 2014, Hillary Clinton made up her mind to run for president. But even as her team geared up in early 2015 for the formal announcement in April, the campaign was beset by problems: press leaks, the burgeoning e-mail-server scandal, competing speechwriters, divided staffers, leaderless advisers and a meddling Bill Clinton. Yet the most alarming issue of all, authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes reveal in this exclusive excerpt from their new book, “Shattered,” was the candidate’s inability to convey a clear vision or message.
Saturday marks President Trump’s 100th day in office, and to celebrate the occasion he got a bit too candid in an Oval Office interview with Reuters. Obviously certain elements of being president are pretty fun, but President Trump has discovered that it isn’t all playing with trucks and pressing a button that makes Cokes appear. Sometimes there’s work to be done, and as it turns out being leader of the free world is a lot harder than running a fake university and playing a caricature of a rich person on TV.“I loved my previous life. I had so many things
PARIS -- French voters shut out the political mainstream from the presidency for the first time in modern history, and on Monday found themselves being courted for the runoff election between populist Marine Le Pen and centrist Emmanuel Macron.French politicians on the moderate left and right, including the Socialist and Republicans party losers in Sunday´s vote, immediately urged voters to block Le Pen´s path to power in the May 7 contest.Voters narrowed the presidential field from 11 to two. Both that vote and the May 7 runoff are widely seen as a litmus test for the populist wave that
WASHINGTON — The day before he upended the 2016 election, James B. Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, summoned agents and lawyers to his conference room. They had been debating all day, and it was time for a decision. Mr. Comey’s plan was to tell Congress that the F.B.I. had received new evidence and was reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton, the presidential front-runner. The move would violate the policies of an agency that does not reveal its investigations or do anything that may influence an election. But Mr. Comey had declared the case closed, and he believed
Before there was Trump, there was O’Reilly’s populism infused with a New York sensibility. Dear Reader (I said “reader.” This will not be the venue for Caitlyn Jenner’s nude debut.), Bill O’Reilly is leaving Fox, and I can’t say I’ll miss him. I don’t mean that to sound too harsh (not that he much cared about sounding too harsh). The truth is I almost never watched his show, unless it was on someplace where I didn’t have control of the remote. That’s not quite the slight it may seem to be either. My job often makes me feel like Lucy
Aaron Hernandez may have murdered a former pal to protect his most guarded secret — that he was bisexual, a new report says. The muscle-bound former New England Patriots tight end allegedly had a longtime male lover, a friend from high school, and left behind a suicide note this week addressed to a gay jailhouse lover, Newsweek said. The suicide note was one of three found in Hernandez’s cell after he hanged himself Wednesday — the other two were to his fiancée and to his 4-year-old daughter.Hernandez, 27, had been serving life without parole in a Massachusetts prison for the 2013 shooting
Taliban fighters dressed in military uniforms attacked an army base in northern Afghanistan, killing or wounding more than 100 soldiers, authorities said Saturday. The updated number of specific soldiers killed or wounded in the attack Friday was not immediately clear. The Afghan ministry of defense said it will provide a breakdown later Saturday. Earlier Friday, Qahar Araam, an army spokesman, said at least eight soldiers died. At the time of attack, security forces were observing Friday prayers. The militants engaged in a six-hour battle with soldiers that left five fighters dead, he said. The base attacked is the headquarters of the
Even in politics, the rich get richer. Take President Trump. Fresh off a big victory with the House passage of an ObamaCare repeal, Trump is also getting lucky again in his enemies. Hillary Clinton is baaack and ready to rumble. Politico reports she is launching a new group to raise money for the resistance to Trump’s presidency. The group will be called Onward Together, and Clinton is said to be meeting with donors to form a board of directors. Her cadre of unemployed hangers-on must be thrilled to have a new slush fund, but most Dems are probably thinking, “Haven’t we suffered enough?” With
The passionately pro-EU politician Emmanuel Macron was tonight elected as France´s youngest ever president with a projected landslide of 65.5 per cent. Macron, 39, beat far-right National Front (FN) candidate Marine Le Pen, 48, in an election that will have widespread repercussions for the future of Europe. An official preliminary result released at 8pm local time showed the 65.5 per cent vote for Mr Macron, meaning a clear victory over Le Pen, on 34.5 per cent. Just 15 minutes after the exit polls were announced, Le Pen revealed she phoned Macron to ´congratulate´ him on his election victory. She had
Barbra Streisand usually talks to her audience, but Saturday night she had a special message for two guests: Bill and Hillary Clinton. Streisand gave the former president and former Democratic presidential candidate much more than a shout out at her concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, her hometown. She noted that she performed at President Clinton’s inauguration and then went on to list his accomplishments, including lowering taxes for some and raising taxes on the rich. “And speaking of taxes, he showed us his tax returns,” she said, a dig at Republican President Donald Trump, who has
BOSTON — Former President Barack Obama returned to the spotlight Sunday to accept an award for political courage from the John F. Kennedy family, days after House Republicans won passage of a bill dismantling much of his signature health care law. The Democrat has made few public appearances since leaving office in January, and has avoided mention of his Republican successor in the White House, even as President Donald Trump has criticized the previous administration numerous times while moving to undo many of Obama’s initiatives. Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama arrived at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library
Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) dropped a big "F-Bomb" at a recent public event. Harris was discussing health care in San Francisco at a taping of the podcast "Pod Save America" when she started to swear, CBS San Francisco reports. The event was sold out. "Pod Save America" is hosted by four former Obama administration officials who discuss liberal politics and resisting initiatives by Republicans and President Donald Trump. "Like this guy, this congressman, you might as well say, ‘People don´t starve because they don´t have food.´ What the f**k is that?" Harris said. At another point, Harris was about
Police on Monday identified the man accused of sexually assaulting a German tourist on a Harlem street last Thursday. Keon Robinson, 28, a level-three sex offender, is being sought for the attack on W. 146th St. near Frederick Douglass Blvd. last Thursday around 2:50 a.m., police said. The woman had just exited a nearby subway station and was walking back to her Airbnb rental when the suspect stalked and attacked her, cops said. Surveillance video showed the thug groping her before stealing a tote bag containing her passport and laptop. (Snip) The victim suffered broken teeth and other injuries.
How could Marine Le Pen have lost in a landslide? Why, after the Brits chose Brexit, and Americans chose Trump, did the Dutch fail Wilders, and the French fail Le Pen? How could a country that has been hit by several major terrorist attacks in recent years, and that has undergone a more profound social transformation owing to Islamic immigration, vote for business as usual? Wilders, buoyed by the Brexit and Trump victories, said that 2017 would be a “Year of the Populist.” So far, alas, it´s not turning out that way. Yes, there are positive signs. The Sweden Democrats are on the upswing.
Bill Clinton is expanding his resume to include fiction writer. The former president is teaming up with best-selling novelist James Patterson to co-write a thriller, "The President is Missing." The book will be released in June 2018, the Associated Press reported. Publishers Alfred A. Knopf and Little, Brown and Co. said the book is "a unique amalgam of intrigue, suspense and behind-the-scenes global drama from the highest corridors of power. It will be informed by details that only a president can know." "Working on a book about a sitting president — drawing on what I know about the job, life
The BBC was last night accused of inflicting ‘deliberate pain’ on Prince Harry by dredging up an unfounded slur that he is not Prince Charles’s son. The outrageous and discredited insinuation that Princess Diana’s lover James Hewitt is his father is repeated in the controversial BBC2 drama King Charles III, to be screened this week. The timing is especially cruel so close to the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death, and those close to the Royal Family say the hurtful claims should never have been included in a BBC programme. Diana’s closest confidante, Rosa Monckton, said: ‘The BBC is deliberately causing pain to a
Conservative columnist George Will has now become the latest prominent figure to join MSNBC and NBC News as a network contributor. Fox News cut ties with Will earlier this year, which came after months of feuding between him and the network’s former ratings colossus, Bill O’Reilly. Will has been making frequent appearances on MSNBC recently, and in one of his latest segments, he elaborated on his column about how President Trump‘s “disorderly mind” is a “dangerous disability” that could result in dire consequences.. During the 2016 election, Will walked away from the Republican Party out of disgust over Trump’s political
Former president Barack Obama has vigorously defended Obamacare as he called on members of Congress to show courage in the debate over the future of health care in America. Obama was careful not to mention Donald Trump by name in Boston on Sunday night as he referenced the current administration´s efforts to dismantle much of his signature health care law. ´I hope that current members of Congress recognize it takes little courage to aid those who are already powerful, already comfortable, already influential - but it takes great courage to champion the vulnerable and the sick and the infirm,´ Obama
Ivanka Trump has been tapped by her father, President Donald Trump, to review the United States’ commitment to the Paris Climate Change agreement, signed by former President Barack Obama as an executive agreement in 2015 without congressional approval, the Associated Press is reporting. The agreement requires countries to cut greenhouse emissions on a country-by-country basis, with Obama committing the U.S. to reduce carbon emissions by at least 26 percent below 2005 levels by 2025. The U.S. is expected to have a representative at the United Nations’ climate change meeting in Bonn, Germany, next week but Trump’s advisers — including daughter
