The Justice Department is planning to announce on Wednesday indictments of Russian operatives involved in the theft of data from 500 million Yahoo user accounts in 2014. Two spies from the Russian intelligence agency, FSB, and two hackers will be indicted, which would be the first U.S. criminal cyber charges against Russian government officials, the Washington Post reported. Yahoo reported the heist in September 2016. It said it had lost information, both encrypted and unencrypted data, that included personal and contact information, as well as security questions and answers. British officials complained to the White House Thursday after press secretary Sean Spicer cited a Fox News commentator’s report claiming former President Barack Obama had enlisted U.K. intelligence to spy on President Donald Trump. Andrew Napolitano, a legal pundit for Fox News who has advised the current president, claimed during a March 14 telecast that three intelligence sources told the network Obama personally appealed to the British Government Communications Headquarters, known as the GCHQ, to spy on Trump. Spicer highlighted the report in a list of media accounts he read to reporters during his briefing on Thursday, arguing that the stories

The explosive information from last week that the Obama Administration was taking money from Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac to pay for Obamacare moved from online news sites to cable television as Maria Bartiromo emphasized it on Fox News. The money could have otherwise helped low income families buy homes in rural areas across the country, and in inner cities that voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. According to documents presented by Infowars, the Obama administration planned in 2011 to take funds from Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, two Government Sponsored Organizations that helped provide middle-class Americans

A supporter of Hillary Clinton and former acting CIA director Michael Morell suggested there isn´t enough evidence to believe that aides on President Trump´s campaign team colluded with Russia, NBC reported Wednesday. Morell was reportedly one of Clinton´s top picks to head the CIA had she won, and previously called President Donald Trump an "unwitting agent of the Russian Federation." "On the question of the Trump campaign conspiring with the Russians here, there is smoke, but there is no fire, at all," Morell reportedly said at an event sponsored by the intelligence website Cipher Brief.

Looks like James Woods is learning that Twitter-generated lawsuits can cut both ways. Woods, who famously sued an anonymous Twitter troll who called the actor a cocaine addict, has now been sued over a tweet of his own. In her lawsuit, Portia A. Boulger — described as a 64-year-old Ohio resident and “an activist for progressive causes and for the Democratic Party” — says that Woods misidentified her as a woman who wore a Trump shirt T-shirt and gave a Nazi salute during a March 2016 Trump rally in Chicago. According to the complaint, Woods posted a tweet “with a picture of

Donald Trump owes his presidency to then-campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, claims White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon. Bannon believes Conway’s “relentless advocacy” for Trump after the infamous “Access Hollywood” scandal before last November’s general election carried the now-president over the finish line, he said in an interview with The Atlantic. “If Kellyanne had not been there when the firestorm hit, I don’t know if we would have made it,” Bannon said. “She literally became a cult figure during that time period, just because of her relentless advocacy for Trump on TV.” Conway isn’t just relentless, she is tough, too, Bannon added. “She can stand

The Justice Department on Monday asked lawmakers for more time to gather evidence related to President Trump´s claim that former President Obama ordered wiretaps on Trump Tower´s phones during last year´s presidential campaign. The House Intelligence Committee said it would give the Justice Department until March 20 to comply. Current and former administration officials have been unable to provide any evidence of the Obama administration wiretapping Trump Tower, yet the president´s aides have been reluctant to publicly contradict their boss. On "Fox & Friends" this morning, Judge Andrew Napolitano said that even if the Obama administration did spy on Trump,

When it comes to policing Wall Street, there are two distinct narratives about Preet Bharara’s tenure as the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York. If you think back to the immediate years following the financial crisis of 2008, Mr. Bharara, who took office in 2009, was pilloried for coming down far too lightly on bankers. He was accused of letting Wall Street off the hook for misdeeds that helped lead to the crisis, and he was frequently forced to defend the fact that no senior banker of note was prosecuted, let alone convicted, for the actions they

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — There’s nothing like a little violence to focus the mind. I am the Middlebury College professor who ended up with whiplash and a concussion for having the audacity to engage with the ideas of Charles Murray, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. Though he is someone with whom I disagree, I welcomed the opportunity to moderate a talk with him on campus on March 2 because several of my students asked me to do so. They know I am a Democrat, but the college courses I teach are nonpartisan. As I wrote on Facebook immediately after the

Throughout his six-decade career working on three continents, Rupert Murdoch has used his media properties to advance the prospects of politicians whose policies help his business interests. Whether it was Margaret Thatcher’s union-busting in the 1980s or Rudy Giuliani’s campaign to put Fox News on Time Warner’s cable system in the 1990s, Murdoch went all-out for leaders who allowed him to protect and expand his corporate empire. Since Election Day, Murdoch, now the executive chairman of Fox News, has personally nudged the network in a more pro-Trump direction, sources tell me. That effort included anointing Trump-friendly Tucker Carlson as the successor

Mick Mulvaney told CNN´s Jake Tapper on Sunday that he has long thought the previous administration framed data to make the unemployment rate "look smaller than it actually was." "What you should really look at is the number of jobs created," Mulvaney said on "State of the Union." "We´ve thought for a long time, I did, that the Obama administration was manipulating the numbers, in terms of the number of people in the workforce, to make the unemployment rate -- that percentage rate -- look smaller than it actually was."

Former President Barack Obama has arrived in French Polynesia where he will spend a month at a luxury resort frequented by Hollywood stars. He landed on the tourist island of Tahiti this week without his family before going to Marlon Brando´s privately owned retreat Tetiaroa atoll, which the Oscar-winning actor bought in the 1960s. Obama then checked into the eco-friendly Brando resort, whose villas boast their own plunge pools and cost between 2,000 euros ($2,150) and 12,300 euros per night. He said a split would "increase delay, reduce access to justice and waste taxpayer dollars." There have been attempts in both the House and Senate to split the 9th Circuit and create a new 12th Circuit.

A federal District Court judge in Maryland is considering whether he should order President Donald Trump to double the annual inflow of refugees up to 100,000 per year. Any demand by the judge that the federal government airbus an extra 50,000 migrants — including many adherents of Islam’s sharia legal system — into American neighborhoods would be an unusual intervention into government roles normally left to the elected President and Congress. If actually implemented, the judge’s plan also would be extremely expensive for Americans, because state and local communities subsidize each new immigrant with roughly $1,600 each per year for decades.
