Tax returns ´scoop´: Anti-Trump queen
Maddow goes from coronation to catastrophe

Tuesday night’s release by MSNBC Anchor Rachel Maddow of President Donald Trump’s tax returns felt like a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out … in mockery. Maddow’s “historically unprecedented” and “potentially historic” release of the top two pages of the 2005 Trump taxes revealed that Trump paid $38 million in taxes that year. The event was a disaster not seen on TV since the last “Star Wars” rerun showing the Death Star blowing up Alderaan. Maddow unwittingly disproved Hillary Clinton’s 2016 claim that Trump might have paid no taxes. Trump’s $38 million tax hit was

Maddow was skewered by conservatives and liberals for the needless hype and by journalists who claimed she had damaged the profession.

SHE damaged the profession?! You people better put down the crack pipe and sober up. She´s not the disease....she´s just one of the outward symptoms! You ALL have damaged the profession!

Oh, and BTW...the author needs to brush up on his Star Wars history. The Death Star blowing up Alderaan wasn´t a disaster....the Star Wars 1978 Holiday Special absolutely was...most embarrassing joke ever.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba/OTTAWA - Nearly half of Canadians want to deport people who are illegally crossing into Canada from the United States, and a similar number disapprove of how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is handling the influx, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Monday. (Snip) There has been broad bipartisan support for high levels of legal immigration for decades in Canada. But Trudeau has come under pressure over the flow of the illegal migrants. He is questioned about it every time he appears in parliament, from opponents on the left, who want more asylum-seekers to be allowed in, and

Dems Beware: Sanders

With Democrats facing tough prospects in the midterm elections, will they also have to worry about primary challenges from their left flank? During his presidential campaign, Sen. Bernie Sanders never quite decided whether his "political revolution" could coexist with the Democratic Party or needed to overthrow it. Now, Sanders is one of the most popular political figures in the country and the activists he galvanized have gone on to start new groups, join old ones, or run electoral campaigns. The path of Sanders´ former staffers reflects the split in his movement, and the some are already galvanizing for the 2018

WASHINGTON — When it comes to the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Neil M. Gorsuch, Senate Democrats appear to have two options: Get out of the way or get run over. Senate Republicans’ enthusiastic backing of President Trump’s nominee ensures majority support even before the confirmation hearing begins Monday. But the Republicans also hope that enough Democrats are won over by Judge Gorsuch — or recognize the inevitability of his confirmation — that they join in efforts to head off an explosive showdown over a filibuster. Should Democrats ultimately deny the judge the necessary backing to clear the way for

CHICAGO -- Police warn CTA commuters who take the Red Line to look out for thieves. There have been three robberies this week. During the robbery, three-to-four offenders approach the victims outside of a CTA Red Line Station or on the train. One asks a question to distract the rider -- then the others punch the victim in the face multiple times and goes through their pockets or purse. Two of the robberies happened just after 1 a.m. Friday; the first incident in the 100 block of West Adams -- then 20 minutes later again, in the 100 block of West Van Buren.

It seemed a little early to condemn NFL teams for freezing out Colin Kaepernick. Barely a week had gone by in free agency. Tabloid titan Jimmy Breslin — the cigar-chomping, hard-nosed newspaperman who won the Pulitzer Prize for his Daily News’ columns championing ordinary New Yorkers — has died, according to two friends of his family. He was 86. The cause of death was not immediately released. The curmudgeonly ink-stained wretch — whose velvety and witty writing style uplifted the downtrodden and eviscerated the scoundrels — crafted scores of columns for The News, Newsday, the New York Herald Tribune and New York Journal American. For more than 40 years, James Earl Breslin was a newspaper reporter New Yorkers trusted and clamored to read,

BOULDER, Colo. — A new study by the University of Colorado Boulder spells out the suggestion that the first letter of your last name may determine your success in life. According to the study, which examines “alphabetism,” people with surnames beginning with a letter in the last half of the alphabet may face a tougher time academically, landing a first job and getting through life in general. The study, published last month, is not necessarily grounded in indisputable science. One of the lead researchers in the study said the results, however, were surprising. “Statistically, we were looking at two people

New York - For almost as long as anyone can remember, people have been asking Donald Trump to release his taxes. During the presidential election campaign, the New York tycoon said he would happily release them, once they had finished being audited by the Inland Revenue Service. But as time went by, Mr Trump seemed more and more reluctant to do so, especially after the New York Times obtained a return from 1996 that suggested he may have paid no federal income tax that year whatsoever. The White House made clear he would not making them available and Mr Trump

Two U.S. airlines are pulling out of Cuba, ending service to the nation only about six months after regular passenger flights resumed for the first time in nearly 50 years. Silver Airways is dropping all nine of its planned routes to the nation by April 22. And low-cost carrier Frontier will do the same, dropping its Miami-Havana route on June 4. In doing so, both Frontier and Silver -- a small regional carrier -- blamed overcapacity on the recently allowed service between the nations. Additionally, Frontier found the cost of operating in Havana "exceeded our initial assumptions," spokesman Jim Faulkner said

Howard Schultz, the current CEO of Starbucks, will step down from his role at the giant coffee chain next month. The three-year, $450,000 project will simulate two nuclear detonations and their effects on up to 20 million virtual ´agents´ each representing civilian, first responder or other official over the course of 30 days.
