When Gen. Michael Flynn was forced to resign as national security adviser, Bill Kristol purred his satisfaction, “If it comes to it, prefer the deep state to the Trump state.” To Kristol, the permanent regime, not the elected president and his government, is the real defender and rightful repository of our liberties. Yet it was this regime, the deep state, that carried out what Eli Lake of Bloomberg calls “The Political Assassination of Michael Flynn.” And what were Flynn’s offenses? In December, when Barack Obama expelled 35 Russian diplomats, Flynn spoke to the Russian ambassador. He apparently counseled the envoy not to overreact, saying
Time to expose Bill Kristol as the insufferable, pompous prig and closet uniparty advocate that he really is. Anybody who still classifies him as a "conservative" has no clue what that word means. Deep state apparatchik is more like it.
Read the article. Buchanan goes on to the reason why this targeting is going on- and Trump is the target.
But the deep state is after larger game than General Flynn. It is out to bring down President Trump and abort any move to effect the sort of rapprochement with Russia that Ronald Reagan achieved.
For the deep state is deeply committed to Cold War II.
Hence, suddenly, we read reports of a Russian spy ship off the Connecticut, Delaware and Virginia coasts, of Russian jets buzzing a U.S. warship in the Black Sea, and Russian violations of Reagan’s INF treaty outlawing intermediate-range missiles in Europe.
Purpose: Stampede the White House into abandoning any idea of a detente with Russia. And it appears to be working.
It’s a mistake to read only the headline and intro. All too often the real “meat” of a serious article by a serious writer/thinker is down a number of paragraphs. As in this case. Those who are targeting Trump on Russia are like Kristol. Ostensibly “ours”. They don’t want a rerun of Reagan and Gorbachev. They want WWIII.
My only disagreement with Mr. Buchanan is this: I do not believe the Deep State wants Cold War II with Russia. I believe all the evidence, all the actions of the Obama/Kerry/Clinton front team lead inescapably to the conclusion that the Deep State wants Hot War I with Russia, a direct shooting war between the US and Russia. I will leave it to the rest of you to identify the purpose for such a war. I have my own ideas. At any rate, the purpose is certainly NOT to advance the interests of middle class American citizens. You know, the ones who elected President Trump.
Kristol is a pinched lip prissy monster continuing to raise to throw poison on President Trump—poison entirely manufactured by him and his anti Trump pals. Here´s how to send a message: Kristol lied about no longer being involved in the Weekly Standard and became some kind of editor at large. No way. He´s still the Weekly Standard but doesn´t want to give a reason to cancel a subscription ergo editory at large. Sorry you creep Kristol. It doesn´t fly and I have cancelled my subscription and if anyone reading this is a current subscriber cancel it today. Every one of the pompous pigs on that publishing list is involved along with Jonah Goldberg and others. Send the $$ message to dear old Bill and help end his financial capability to travel everywhere spreading poison. He´s a horrible person and he´s doing terrible damage. And let Fox know you won´t watch any panel that includes Steve Hayes from the Weekly Standard who is nothing more than the looney Kristol´s sock puppet. This is our America and I stand with President Trump and will do anything I can to help him take back my beloved country.
The wimpy Republicans in Congress should be investigating why Obama and his crew, while then trying to help Hillary Clinton win the election, at the same time, both during the run up to the election, and then after the election, had the CIA, the FBI, and the NSA investigating and possibly tapping the telephones of General Flynn, the Trump Transition Offices, and possibly also President Trump´s personal telephones.
Clearly average Americans believe that in the USA today, simply talking with a Russian should not be deemed a valid predication to subject American citizens to such federal investigative scrutiny.
If no evidence of any offenses are found as a result of those investigations, it is clear the average person will believe that the Obama Administration commenced those investigations for purely partisan political purposes reminiscent of banana republic politics of the past, and to set up minefields that they hoped President Trump and his crew would walk into.
Does Kristol even get what happened to the Jews who collaborated with the nazis back during WWII?
Looking at Kristol, it is like seeing a modern day collaborator who prefers tyranny over freedom. It isn´t the Uniparty that scares me, it is the deliberate and willful obtuse thinking of people like Kristol who scare me. Kristol has shown with this statement, just how unAmerican and hateful to the rest of us he can be. Kind of like a Soros without the funds.
Pat Buchanan has a clear-eyed view of the situation with Russia. Russia originated in Ukraine, and the Kievan Rus ruled Russia from 882 AD until 1598, when the Romanov dynasty took the throne. Bonds between Russia and Ukraine are familial and unique. No sensible person would get in the middle of that, ever.
Offering NATO membership to Ukraine was a terrible blunder. Russia´s Black Sea fleet is based on Sevastopol in Crimea, and so the Russians faced the prospect of renting a crucial naval base from a NATO country. Bizarre. What kind of reaction did the geniuses at the State Department expect from Putin? Ukraine in NATO was a provocation that Putin simply could not ignore.
Then the EU and the US supported the overthrow of a freely elected - albeit awful - government in Kiev. Oh, great. And now the Left is worried about Russia! Crikey.
Russia may have an economy the size of Italy´s, but nevertheless they have thousands of nuclear-tipped missiles aimed at the United States. Relations with Russia are nothing to be trifled with, and they need a lot of serious work.
They are my great protectors — leftist Jews, professional Democrat Jews, Jews in Hollywood and on Broadway, Jews in the liberal mainstream media. For a year and more, they have been in the forefront protecting me from the “anti-Semitism” of candidate — now President — Donald Trump, from Steve Bannon and Breitbart, and from the Republican Party. There they are, yelling “anti-Semitism!” and worrying about me. And oh how they care for Israel! They are as false as the Fake News they spread about the President of the United States. I know. I am a Jew all day every day.
Readers may recall I invented Jebbio McCruzney last summer to represent the perfect Republican Establishment candidate who would politely lose the election to Hillary, unlike the embarrassing Donald Trump, who had the audacity to believe he could win. So now that Hillary lost, what would President Jebbio McCruzney do? Would he stop the federalization of bathroom use? Alternate headline: Trump admin to rescind lawless, radical expansion of federal control over local schools. https://t.co/XxPYssynuT — David French (@DavidAFrench) February 21, 2017 Would he have his UN ambassador stand up for Israel? We’ll look for expanded video of the visits today by Secretary Kelly and Secretary Tillerson to Mexico and South America. In the interim thanks to DaveNYviii for this segment of a press conference in Guatemala. Woo doggies,…. DHS Secretary General John Kelly drops an absolute truth bomb in a joint press conference earlier today. Speaking with Interior Minister Francisco Rivas the severity of Secretary Kelly’s words are a stunning reflection of the change in approach.(Snip) John Kelly’s message to Guatemalans (and others) Your journey north is going to be brutal. Hello? On Wednesday’s Hannity radio show, Sean replayed a clip of his recent TV interview with House Speaker Paul Ryan.(Snip) Ryan specifically said the Congressional Budget Office was scoring a specific plan. Yet there on the Wednesday Hannity radio show were members of the House Freedom Caucus saying they had seen no such bill. Huh? Hannity was gobsmacked. So stunned that he suggested he would come back to D.C. and do a joint televised interview with Ryan and the House Freedom caucus members to find out what in the world is going on.
MEXICO CITY — Mexico will vigorously fight U.S. mass deportations of undocumented immigrants back to Mexico and refuse to accept any non-Mexicans expelled across the border, Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray vowed Wednesday. A day after the Trump administration unveiled tough new guidelines for enforcing immigration laws, Videgaray said the treatment of Mexican migrants in the United States would top his country´s agenda when President Enrique Peña Nieto meets Thursday with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly. “I want to make clear, in the most emphatic way, that the government of Mexico and the Mexican
The women suspected of assassinating the half-brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un doused their hands with a toxic chemical before wiping them on the man’s face, Malaysian officials said Wednesday. North Korea – which South Korean authorities believe may have been behind the murder – refuted the Malaysian account of Kim Jong Nam’s death and called for the release of the two “innocent” women being held in connection with the shocking airport attack. If the toxins had been on their hands "then how is it possible that these female suspects could still be alive?" asked a statement from the North
There were scores of pressing queries for the White House press corps to put to presidential spokesman Sean Spicer at Wednesday’s daily briefing: President Trump’s new immigration restrictions, relations with Mexico, China and Russia, tax reform, ObamaCare, the fight against Islamic terror. So what was the first question from the D.C.-based journalists in attendance? Bathrooms. As Bellwether noted last week, several state legislatures were dismayed, during the closing year of the Obama administration, to receive a letter from the Departments of Justice and Education instructing them to let students who claim to be transgender use whatever bathrooms, locker rooms and
A photographer for Dagens Nyheter, one of Sweden’s largest newspapers, was the victim of an attack by rioters at the notorious Stockholm migrant-populated suburb of Rinkeby. The continued riots in the densely migrant-populated Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby has seen multiple cars set on fire and a photographer from Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter was attacked. The photographer said the attack occurred just after 10:00 pm at night and said, “I was met with a lot of punches and kicks on both the body and the head. I have spent the night in the hospital,” Dagens Nyheter reports. The photographer says he arrived in
The agents of the status quo are at it again. CNN host Fareed Zakaria’s recent op-ed in the Washington Post excoriates President Trump for his administration’s “lack of forward movement.” Zakaria took to the Post’s pages to compare Trump’s administration with the motion of a rocking horse. Zakaria cautioned Trump’s supporters not to “confuse motion and progress”and followed up with the cloyingly pedantic question, “What has he actually done?” In just a month, the president has pushed through executive orders that begin the process of lowering taxes, repealing Obamacare, and protecting Americans from terrorism (to say nothing of the Trump economic
A “non-media” Harvard-Harris poll of 2,148 registered voters, provided exclusively to The Hill (who refuse to publish the raw data – go figure), finds overwhelming support for President Trump’s immigration proposals.(SnipAdditionally, The survey refutes the preferred media narrative so substantively the graphics team had to work overtime to downplay the results. So let’s skip the graphics and just look at the key takeaways: * Cities that arrest illegal immigrants for crimes should be required to turn them over to federal immigration authorities: SUPPORT: 80% OPPOSE: 20% * Do you favor adding thousands of additional Border Patrol agents: SUPPORT: 75% OPPOSE:
Many people are noticing a rather familiar, albeit oddly timed, leftist “anti-Semitism” narrative being pushed into the media broadcasts over the past 36 hours. Yes, it seems to have come out of nowhere. Why? No one is really understanding what’s going on.(Snip)Team Clinton, meaning the professionally political elements of the Democrat machinery, are pushing the anti-Semitism storylines because the party is in the final stages of framing their argument to ensure their preferred DNC head, Tom Perez, wins as party chair.
The chairman of the American Conservative Union, host of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, said Tuesday morning that provocative Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos has taken a “brave” stance against the “chilling of free speech on campus,” but crossed "boundaries" with his apparent endorsement of predatory sexual relationships. Yiannopoulos´ invitation to address CPAC was rescinded over the weekend when video emerged on which Yiannopoulos can be heard condoning pedophilia. The Breitbart editor has since backed away from those comments, blaming the uproar in part on deceptive editing and “my usual blend of British sarcasm, provocation and gallows humor.” That explanation proved unsatisfying
Former House Speaker John Boehner predicted on Thursday that a full repeal and replace of Obamacare is “not going to happen.” Boehner, who resigned in 2015 amid unrest among conservatives, said at an Orlando health care conference that the idea that a repeal-and-replace plan would blitz through Congress is just “happy talk.” Instead, he said changes to former President Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement would likely be relatively modest. “[Congressional Republicans are] going to fix Obamacare – I shouldn’t call it repeal-and-replace, because it’s not going to happen,” he said. Boehner’s comments come as Republican lawmakers across the country are facing angry constituents
Entire San Jose neighborhoods were submerged by water on Wednesday during the worst floods for 100 years. 50,000 people were told to flee their homes after evacuation warnings were issued in the early hours of the morning. Most were issued a flood warning but for 14,000 the order was mandatory. The flooding began when Coyote Creek, which runs through Silicone Valley from the San Francisco Bay, burst its banks on Tuesday night. It sent dirty water pouring in to the towns below it at frightening pace. On Wednesday, residents complained that the alert had not been sent out fast enough. Some
A Mexican man has apparently taken his own life just half an hour after being deported from the United States. Guadalupe Olivas Valencia, 45, jumped from a bridge at the border after he was deported for the third time. He was found unconscious next to a plastic bag with his belongings and died in hospital a short while later. His death came as the Trump administration issued new guidelines to widen the net for deporting illegal immigrants from the US. (Snip) Mr Olivas was a native of Sinaloa, one of Mexico's most violent states and the stronghold of the cartel formerly led by jailed drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.
(Video) MSNBC´s Mika Brzezinski criticized President Donald Trump on Wednesday for undermining the media´s message by creating his own facts, adding that the "job" of the media is to "control exactly what people think." Brzezinski made the comment on "Morning Joe" after co-host Joe Scarborough said that he agreed with a panelist´s view that Trump supporters are wondering why people are so upset over what the president is doing since he is implementing exactly what he campaigned on. "What Yamiche [Alcindor] said is what I hear from all the Trump supporters that I talk to, who were Trump voters and
The Trump administration Wednesday revoked federal guidelines issued by former President Barack Obama that allowed public school students to use restrooms and other facilities corresponding to their gender identity. A document submitted to the Supreme Court by the Solicitor General´s office said that the Obama-era directive issued this past May did not "undergo any formal public process" or explain how the directive was "consistent with the express language of Title IX," the federal law outlawing sex discrimination in education and activities. "Congress, state legislatures, and local governments are in a position to adopt appropriate policies or laws addressing this issue,"
Astronomers have spotted a star system with planets that could support life just 39 light years away. Seven Earth-like planets have been discovered orbiting nearby dwarf star ´Trappist-1´, and all of them could have water at their surface, one of the key components of life. Three of the planets have such good conditions, that scientists say life may have already evolved on them. Researchers claim that they will know whether or not there is life on any of the planets within a decade, and said ´this is just the beginning.´ No other star system discovered before has been found to
Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D., Ca.) says the darndest things. Since President Trump won the election, Rep. Waters has not hesitated to be an outspoken critic of his administration. She refused to go to his inauguration, stated publicly that she doesn´t want to work with him, called him a dictator, and even called for his impeachment less than a month into his presidency. Here are some of the unusual things Waters has said since the election: (Snip) 3. When she called Trump and his aides a bunch of ‘s*umbags.´ "This is a bunch of s*umbags. That´s what they are." 4. State Rep. La Shawn Ford (D-Chicago) said he is drafting legislation that would rename the majority of Interstate 55 in Illinois as the “Barack Obama Expressway.” According to a statement from his office, Ford will propose renaming the stretch of the expressway from the Tri-State Tollway to East St. Louis. “Renaming I-55 for President Barack Obama would not only be an honor for America’s 44th president, but it will be the right measure we should approve for Illinois’ very own state Senator and U.S. Senator,” Ford said in a statement. Between the Tri-State and Lake Shore Drive, the expressway bears
In San Francisco, an Indian software engineer on a work permit canceled plans to bid on a $900,000 home. In Washington, a Brazilian nonprofit executive passed on a fixer-upper near her office. And, in Mesa, Arizona, a 24-year-old son of undocumented Mexican immigrants won the trust of a bank -- a green light for a mortgage -- but now fears deportation. President Donald Trump’s immigration policies threaten to crack a foundation of the American economy: the residential real estate market. Legal and otherwise, immigrants, long a pillar of growth in homebuying, are no longer feeling the warm welcome and optimism
A THR and National Research Group survey reveals how little the average moviegoing citizen knows about this year´s Oscars. Yes, you read that headline correctly — come hell or high water, six out of 10 Americans could not name a single best picture nominee, according to a new poll commissioned by The Hollywood Reporter that canvassed moviegoers on both sides of the political fence. But, hidden in the figures, there is some good news for the Academy: Seven in 10 respondents say they’ll be watching the Oscars anyway. (Video) THR’s poll — conducted by the National Research Group, which in
The journalists at CBS This Morning on Wednesday openly fretted that Donald Trump’s new immigration orders “could create a climate of fear” for illegal “citizens.” (Yes, co-host Gayle King used the word “citizen.”) Talking to USA Today bureau chief Susan Page, Anthony Mason worried, “This could create a climate of fear in the immigrant community, if it hasn´t already.” Page agreed, “I think it has.” She justified, “Remember that two-thirds of illegal immigrants have been here at least a decade. So, they´re really part of the fabric of our life. Although, admittedly, they´re here illegally.” King insisted, “But they´ve been
An image of White House advisor Stephen Miller is making the rounds on the internet — and it allegedly shows him making the “white power” hand gesture on live TV. Except, as Mediaite so eloquently pointed out, he was just fixing his tie before appearing on “Face the Nation.” Take a look at the picture in question: (Tweet/Photo) DailyKOS made a point on February 21 to insist that Miller is a white supremacist and that his gesture was some sort of anti-Semitic, “white power” shout out. Here´s their reasoning behind such a strong accusation. The right hand, on top, is
