When Gen. Michael Flynn was forced to resign as national security adviser, Bill Kristol purred his satisfaction, “If it comes to it, prefer the deep state to the Trump state.” To Kristol, the permanent regime, not the elected president and his government, is the real defender and rightful repository of our liberties. Yet it was this regime, the deep state, that carried out what Eli Lake of Bloomberg calls “The Political Assassination of Michael Flynn.” And what were Flynn’s offenses? In December, when Barack Obama expelled 35 Russian diplomats, Flynn spoke to the Russian ambassador. He apparently counseled the envoy not to overreact, saying
Time to expose Bill Kristol as the insufferable, pompous prig and closet uniparty advocate that he really is. Anybody who still classifies him as a "conservative" has no clue what that word means. Deep state apparatchik is more like it.
Read the article. Buchanan goes on to the reason why this targeting is going on- and Trump is the target.
But the deep state is after larger game than General Flynn. It is out to bring down President Trump and abort any move to effect the sort of rapprochement with Russia that Ronald Reagan achieved.
For the deep state is deeply committed to Cold War II.
Hence, suddenly, we read reports of a Russian spy ship off the Connecticut, Delaware and Virginia coasts, of Russian jets buzzing a U.S. warship in the Black Sea, and Russian violations of Reagan’s INF treaty outlawing intermediate-range missiles in Europe.
Purpose: Stampede the White House into abandoning any idea of a detente with Russia. And it appears to be working.
It’s a mistake to read only the headline and intro. All too often the real “meat” of a serious article by a serious writer/thinker is down a number of paragraphs. As in this case. Those who are targeting Trump on Russia are like Kristol. Ostensibly “ours”. They don’t want a rerun of Reagan and Gorbachev. They want WWIII.
My only disagreement with Mr. Buchanan is this: I do not believe the Deep State wants Cold War II with Russia. I believe all the evidence, all the actions of the Obama/Kerry/Clinton front team lead inescapably to the conclusion that the Deep State wants Hot War I with Russia, a direct shooting war between the US and Russia. I will leave it to the rest of you to identify the purpose for such a war. I have my own ideas. At any rate, the purpose is certainly NOT to advance the interests of middle class American citizens. You know, the ones who elected President Trump.
Kristol is a pinched lip prissy monster continuing to raise to throw poison on President Trump—poison entirely manufactured by him and his anti Trump pals. Here´s how to send a message: Kristol lied about no longer being involved in the Weekly Standard and became some kind of editor at large. No way. He´s still the Weekly Standard but doesn´t want to give a reason to cancel a subscription ergo editory at large. Sorry you creep Kristol. It doesn´t fly and I have cancelled my subscription and if anyone reading this is a current subscriber cancel it today. Every one of the pompous pigs on that publishing list is involved along with Jonah Goldberg and others. Send the $$ message to dear old Bill and help end his financial capability to travel everywhere spreading poison. He´s a horrible person and he´s doing terrible damage. And let Fox know you won´t watch any panel that includes Steve Hayes from the Weekly Standard who is nothing more than the looney Kristol´s sock puppet. This is our America and I stand with President Trump and will do anything I can to help him take back my beloved country.
The wimpy Republicans in Congress should be investigating why Obama and his crew, while then trying to help Hillary Clinton win the election, at the same time, both during the run up to the election, and then after the election, had the CIA, the FBI, and the NSA investigating and possibly tapping the telephones of General Flynn, the Trump Transition Offices, and possibly also President Trump´s personal telephones.
Clearly average Americans believe that in the USA today, simply talking with a Russian should not be deemed a valid predication to subject American citizens to such federal investigative scrutiny.
If no evidence of any offenses are found as a result of those investigations, it is clear the average person will believe that the Obama Administration commenced those investigations for purely partisan political purposes reminiscent of banana republic politics of the past, and to set up minefields that they hoped President Trump and his crew would walk into.
Does Kristol even get what happened to the Jews who collaborated with the nazis back during WWII?
Looking at Kristol, it is like seeing a modern day collaborator who prefers tyranny over freedom. It isn´t the Uniparty that scares me, it is the deliberate and willful obtuse thinking of people like Kristol who scare me. Kristol has shown with this statement, just how unAmerican and hateful to the rest of us he can be. Kind of like a Soros without the funds.
Pat Buchanan has a clear-eyed view of the situation with Russia. Russia originated in Ukraine, and the Kievan Rus ruled Russia from 882 AD until 1598, when the Romanov dynasty took the throne. Bonds between Russia and Ukraine are familial and unique. No sensible person would get in the middle of that, ever.
Offering NATO membership to Ukraine was a terrible blunder. Russia´s Black Sea fleet is based on Sevastopol in Crimea, and so the Russians faced the prospect of renting a crucial naval base from a NATO country. Bizarre. What kind of reaction did the geniuses at the State Department expect from Putin? Ukraine in NATO was a provocation that Putin simply could not ignore.
Then the EU and the US supported the overthrow of a freely elected - albeit awful - government in Kiev. Oh, great. And now the Left is worried about Russia! Crikey.
Russia may have an economy the size of Italy´s, but nevertheless they have thousands of nuclear-tipped missiles aimed at the United States. Relations with Russia are nothing to be trifled with, and they need a lot of serious work.
Some Democratic leaders around the country are growing increasingly concerned that the party could be repeating its errors from the 2016 election by looking past voters´ core concerns in lawmakers´ eagerness to take aim at the president. "We´re obsessed with what´s happening here, and a lot of American people are worried about that," Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti told NBC News during an interview in D.C. this week. "But if you´re out of a job or struggling with debt, you´ve got more primary concerns than even all of the drama here in Washington. And if nobody is speaking to it, besides
The American Health Care Act (AHCA), which passed the House earlier this month, is a health care revolution. It isn’t about returning to the way things were. It’s about asking the country to imagine a system that has never existed before. Instead of offering a plan centered on Washington, D.C., the AHCA is centered on you. It empowers you and respects your relationship with your family and your doctor. It delivers to you increased access, benefits, choices and health savings. The opposition has been so intense precisely because the plan is so ambitious. The next battle and opportunity to improve health
William Gladstone, the great Victorian Liberal leader, the most successful electoral politician of the age, believed that success in politics depended on right timing. This was why he often withdrew into silence, hesitating, turning things over in his mind, before coming to a decision and announcing it when he believed the right moment had come. It has to be said that our present prime minister, Theresa May, has in this respect shown herself to be a pupil of Gladstone. Much as I dislike and distrust her, she has shown the ability to keep her cards concealed, close to her chest, until
European Union leaders plan to move forward with the creation of an EU military headquarters within the next few days – and warn that Britain may still be expected to take part, even after Brexit. Plans to set up a joint Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) facility, agreed by all 28 member states in March, had been stalled by British objections to the facility having an operational military role. But speaking to reports in Brussels following a meeting of EU defence ministers on Thursday, the EU’s Foreign Affairs commissioner Federica Mogherini said the path was now clear, and plans would be
Sources within House Republican leadership told Breitbart News on Thursday that they believe former 2016 presidential candidate Evan McMullin may have spied on them last year, while he was policy director of the House Republican Conference. Suspicions arose after the Washington Post‘s Adam Entous reported Wednesday that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) “made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.” The story was treated by other news outlets as a potential “smoking gun” implicating Trump. A closer look, however,
Thursday on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz called into question the purpose of the Department of Justice naming Robert Mueller as a special counsel to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election. Dershowitz argued Mueller’s appointment would benefit Trump given that “collaborating with the Russians” to get elected wasn’t illegal and Mueller’s role would be to investigate illegalities. “[I] think he will be the beneficiary of the special prosecutor,” Dershowitz said. “A special prosecutor is supposed to investigate a crime and most of the things that have been leveled at the Trump administration are not criminal acts.
If you read nothing but the Washington Post and New York Times, and spent all day watching cable news and hanging on to the words of the Ted Baxters at ABC, CBS, and NBC, you would think that the end was near for Trump -- that like Nixon he was in his final days. Once More, With Stealing Dept. TIME MAGAZINE RIPS OFF MAD MAGAZINE?https://t.co/dWYykrr4tJ pic.twitter.com/bfYrj2DpUb — MAD Magazine (@MADmagazine) May 18, 2017 Normal Americans don´t believe that. The premise for impeachment is false. They voted for Trump without any influence from Russia. They know Trump is too rich to
The Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign. Officials spilled results of that election espionage to Ned Parker, Jonathan Landay, and Warren Strobel of Reuters in exchange for Reuters portraying President Trump as a pawn of Putin. From Reuters: Michael Flynn and other advisers to Donald Trump’s campaign were in contact with Russian officials and others with Kremlin ties in at least 18 calls and emails during the last seven months of the 2016 presidential race, current and former U.S. officials familiar with the exchanges told Reuters. The previously undisclosed interactions form part of the record now being reviewed by
Very disturbing CCTV video assembled from the scene(s) near Times Square in New York, shows the deliberate and intentional attack of the driver. The driver was identified as 26-year-old Richard Rojas from the Bronx. His vehicular rampage killed an 18-year-old girl and seriously injured 22 others when he drove through crowds near Times Square. There is ZERO possibility of this being an “accident”. Nor was this a DUI or DWI event. The driver made a U-Turn and intentionally drove on the sidewalk for four blocks specifically targeting the largest possible groups and crowds, steering toward them and accelerating. It’s actually a
Long time CTH readers will note we extended well over a year of benefit-of-the-doubt to the motives of former FBI Director James Comey with regard to the severity of his politicized nature and disposition. Throughout the entire Clinton investigation we remained ambivalent to Comey’s motives. Indeed it wasn’t until after the Pulse nightclub terrorist attack when Comey obtusely noted the FBI had been contacted (prior to the attack) about the sketchy behavior of Omar Mateen by a ‘random concerned citizen’ -and our finding that the actual ‘citizen’ was the far more substantive St Lucie county sheriff Ken Mascara– that we
Reminder. David Plouffe was President Obama’s campaign manager and Senior White House advisor: (source link) Plouffe has ideological cohorts, friends and embeds inside almost all corporate media entities; specifically WaPo and NY Times. David Plouffe @davidplouffe It is not enough to simply beat Trump. He must be destroyed thoroughly. His kind must not rise again.
Ousted Fox News chief Roger Ailes died from complications of a head injury, the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner said in a report on Thursday. Ailes “died this morning of complications of a subdural hematoma after he fell at home injuring his head,” said the report. “Hemophilia contributed to his death and his manner of death was accidental. There was no evidence of foul play.” Ailes died just three days after his 77th birthday. He was a towering figure in the fast-paced business of cable news, but sexual harassment allegations forced him out of Fox News last year.
Michael Schmidt, the New York Times “journalist” behind the alleged “Trump-Comey Memo”, told fake news anchor, Brian Williams, that he has NOT seen the memo Comey allegedly wrote. Schmidt stumbled over his words as he commented to Williams, “Someone that had seen [the memo] had recounted details to me.” You can watch a video of Schmidt below: (Video) GotNews reports: Schmidt has been called out for getting a story wildly wrong before thanks to his anonymous sources. Schmidt, citing his anonymous federal law enforcement sources, claimed that one of the San Bernardino terrorists had talked about jihad openly. She didn’t.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Thursday that Joe Lieberman would be a "good choice" for FBI director. The senator was asked about Lieberman by reporters upon walking out of a full-Senate meeting with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who the Trump administration has said made the case that James Comey should be fired as FBI director. Comey was fired by Trump last week amid conflicting accounts about how the decision was reached. Lieberman, a former senator from Connecticut who was Al Gore´s running mate in 2000, is a top candidate for the position, Trump confirmed Thursday. Graham praised Lieberman as
President Trump will interview four candidates for FBI director — including former independent senator Joe Lieberman and the acting head of the bureau, Andrew McCabe — White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Wednesday. Trump will also meet with Frank Keating, a former Oklahoma governor, and Richard McFeely, a former top FBI agent, Spicer said during a briefing on Air Force One as Trump returned to Washington after speaking at the US Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut. The interviews come a week after the president abruptly fired former FBI Director James Comey, who was investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential
Reporters are rounding up comments from Republicans to paint the grim picture that the party is slowly losing faith in President Donald Trump for alleged misdeeds in dealing with Russian officials and for interfering with an investigation into the matter run by former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired. “Even before the latest report about President Trump exploded across Washington on Tuesday, congressional Republicans were troubled,” Real Clear Politics reported. “When the president abruptly fired FBI Director James Comey, the timing was ‘troubling,’ multiple Republican lawmakers agreed,” the report said. ‘So, too, was the president’s tweet threatening to reveal
The New York Times reported on Tuesday that President Trump allegedly asked former FBI Director James Comey to shut down the investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. The source of the allegation is a memorandum, revealed by an anonymous source, allegedly prepared by Comey regarding a meeting in the Oval Office the day after Flynn was forced to resign for misleading the Vice-President. While the headline is sensational, The New York Times’s report is self-contradictory at times, conflicts with statements made on-the-record and under oath, overhypes the substance of the memorandum, and is irreconcilable with other information in the
Right now, the very best you can say about Donald Trump is that he stinks at this whole president thing — in large part because he keeps creating trouble for himself and entirely on his own. Yes, the media are against him. Yes, the Democrats want his scalp. But everyone inclined to indulge President Trump in his self-pity about how he’s being badly treated by others in Washington and badly served by his own staff is ignoring the basic facts of the political situation he is bungling at present like no one has bungled it before. He just won an election and
Washington - Former Sen. Joe Lieberman is the leading contender to be named FBI director, a senior administration official and two other sources told CNN on Thursday. One of the sources said President Donald Trump found the Democrat-turned-independent "agreeable" after meeting with him. (Snip) Trump told television anchors at a lunch Thursday that he was close to making his decision. "I´m very close to choosing an FBI director," the President said, though he did not specify whether his choice was Lieberman. Lieberman emerging as the front-runner was first reported by Politico. Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham on Thursday said it’s clear that after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein briefed the Senate on the investigation into Russian involvement in the presidential election that it has become a criminal probe. “The shock to the body is that this is now a criminal investigation,” Graham (R-SC) told reporters moments after he exited the Senate chamber. He said now that it has become a criminal investigation instead of an counterintelligence probe Congress may be impeded in carrying out its own examinations. “You’ve got a special counsel who has prosecutorial powers now, and I think we in Congress
By constantly whipping up hysteria over imagined misconduct (remember the phony story, thoroughly debunked under oath, that President Trump fired James Comey after he requested more resources for the Russia investigation?), the media and their hyperventilating Democrat allies are driving insane the more unstable elements of their coalition. The entirely predictable consequences include violent attacks on Trump supporters and eventually could lead to a wave of political assassinations. Think I am exaggerating? These are just the most recent incidents of political violence form individual leftists: Jonathan Tobin reported yesterday in NRO: [E]arlier this month ... a Tennessee woman began chasing
The family of a slain Democratic National Committee staffer strongly criticized media outlets and individuals who they suggested used a new report about Rich´s contacts before his death as validation of their political ideology. (Snip) The Fox 5 report was prominently featured by top right-leaning sites, including Breitbart News and the Drudge Report, and was featured prominently on FoxNews.com and on the "Fox & Friends" morning show.Asked about the attent ion the new report received from right-leaning outlets, Brad Bauman, a spokesperson for the Rich family, said the family condemned the attempt to politicize Rich´s death. "It´s sad but unsurprising that a
Target has long been loved by people because it´s a fun place to shop. At least it used to be a fun place to shop. Customer satisfaction with the total shopping experience at Target has declined for a fourth consecutive period, according to a new survey of 2,500 people done by investment bank Cowen. Declines in customer satisfaction were seen across the board, led by drops in customer service, merchandise selection and product quality. Overall, Cowen says customer satisfaction at Target plunged 383 basis points to 66.7%. It appears unhappy Target shoppers could be taking their business elsewhere. On Wednesday,
The sudden death of Roger Ailes (R.I.P.) yesterday is a grim omen for the network he envisioned and built. In the wake of the recent upheavals at Fox News, the conservative cable television network’s ratings are experiencing a precipitous decline from cable news leadership for the first time in the history of the channel. As the rest of the mainstream media continue their efforts to undermine and “resist” the Trump Administration, this development bodes ill for the future -- not only of the unique kind of fair and balanced if right of center reporting pioneered by the Fox News Channel
