(Video) On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour,” anchor Brian Williams argued President Trump’s criticisms of the media were “Because when you reduce the media enough in prestige, they — when they do report facts, those facts are diminished.” During a discussion on Trump’s press conference earlier in the day, USA Today Senior Politics Reporter Heidi Przybyla stated, “[T]he press provided basically the most essential task that the Founders intended for us to do, which was, we outed a public official, who was lying to the public, about the nature of his contacts about what many would define as
This is rich coming from a hack who contributed to the reduction of the media´s ´prestige´ because he lied about his helicopter being shot down. Link below. In that link Williams says " I don’t know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another.” He couldn´t very well say he wanted to make himself into a big, brave hero from the media instead of portraying the pathetic lying weeny that he is.
The press reduced its own prestige, Trump was just arrogant enough to state the obvious. If these jerks would report the truth, there would be no need to call them out for pushing a bogus narrative. If they think the lies they push are "facts", lets see the evidence. Don´t have any beyond "anonymous sources"? I call BS, and so does the rest of the viewing public. Liars!
This guy is a habitual liar. There are approximately 10 major embellishments he´s made over the years. They´ve ranged from being live in Germany when the wall came down to being hit by a missle in Iraq. For nbc news to bring him back is unforgivable. He is the poster child for Fake news! Unless of course it´s Dan Rather. Both are being trotted out to deep six President Trump and his administration. Ray Charles can see the hypocrisy.
and I imagine here is the REAL story about that dead body floating in the street in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina . . .
"well, what happened is this, when I emerged from the taxi, I happened to look down and saw one of those little plastic baby dolls that they put in their King Cakes down there and a moment later, my slacks were spattered by a passing bicyclist . . .
well, I was so upset when the hotel told me they couldn´t dryclean my slacks right away - due to problems from Katrina - that I conflated that little plastic baby doll with the body of a real person."
(please note, the above is suejeanne´s own version of the Katrina story, trying to figure out how Mr. Williams thought he saw a dead body floating along in the street)
Look at the actual quote: "...when they do report facts, those facts are diminished." Focus on the word "do". Williams in unintentionally confirming that the media does not report facts all the time i.e., when they "do" report the facts those facts are diminished. His statement is very telling.
What facts is this disgraced "journalist" referring to? Williams is a proven liar that lied about his helicopter being shot down in Iraq in 2003. This guy has zero credibility, so who is he to start criticizing Trump. The media in this county doesn´t report facts anymore, just liberal, leftist propaganda. Crawl back into your hole Williams!
Dear MSNBC: There are thousands of qualified people who can do this job that you have given to Brian Williams, a known and proven liar. Not sure which question we should be asking you: a) Can´t you be bothered to find someone? b) You really believe he is the only one that can do this job? c) What has Brian Williams got on you?
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., predicted Tuesday that many Republican lawmakers will break from President Trump by June if he continues to push forward with his agenda. Schumer told "The View" that while most Republicans have declined to publicly break with Trump during the first month of his presidency, many privately admit they have "real problems" with him. He also argued that some are sticking by him because of party loyalty and his nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill the late Antonin Scalia´s seat on the Supreme Court. "When you talk to Republicans quietly — in the cloakroom

Justice Department officials plan to issue new guidance on protections for transgender students that will effectively reverse Obama-era recommendations and ensure those issues are decided at the state level going forward. "That´s an issue that the Department of Justice the Department of Education are addressing, and I think there will be further guidance coming from [Justice Department] in particular, with respect to not just the executive order but the case that´s in front of the Supreme Court," White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday. The Supreme Court is slated to hear oral arguments late next month on a case
A group of lawmakers is planning to request a congressional investigation of a $418 million U.S. weapons sale to Kenya approved by the Obama administration on its last day in office. The sale, approved by the State Department and privately notified to Congress on January 19, would allow Kenya to buy 14 weaponized crop-duster-like planes — including two trainer planes and services, for missions against terrorist group al-Shabaab. The deal was publicly announced the Monday after Trump’s inauguration. A handful of lawmakers, led by Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC), are questioning why the contract to produce the planes was awarded to
(Photos) Scores of homes flooded in a San Jose neighborhood on Tuesday morning when Coyote Creek surged over its banks, officials said. Crews started going from home to home around 10 a.m. rescuing trapped residents in the neighborhood around Senter Road and Phelan Avenue near Kelly Park. “We have a neighborhood here that’s basically underwater,” said Capt. Mitch Matlow, a spokesman for the San Jose Fire Department. Flood waters reached 5-feet-deep in parts of the neighborhood as Coyote Creek crested on Tuesday afternoon about 2 feet over its 10-foot flood stage. The creek went over its banks as runoff from Monday’s
The Republican National Committee filed a record setting $19.8 million January FEC report on Monday, The Daily Caller has learned. The $19.8 million makes January the best post-election fundraising month in RNC history. (Photo) “I am encouraged by the historic support shown by Americans across this country as our Party unites under President Trump,” said RNC chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel. “It is clear our message of bringing change to all people is resonating, and I am committed to harnessing this momentum as we continue to build on the successes we earned in 2016. The RNC has never been better equipped
On February 4, The Daily Caller reported that three rogue IT Staffers who managed office IT for government officials had been relieved of their duties on suspicion that they accessed specific computer networks without permission, aka hacking. The three IT staffers also happen to be brothers: Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan. Late on Monday night The Daily Caller reported that those same staffers had taken $100,000 from an Iraqi politician while they had administrator level access over a significant number of computers. From The Daily Caller: Rogue congressional staffers took $100,000 from an Iraqi politician while they had administrator-level access
Hundreds of headstones were vandalized and toppled in a Jewish cemetery in University City north of St. Louis. (Photo) Local officials are calling the vandalism an act of intolerance and hate. Hillary wants Trump to make a statement. JCC threats, cemetery desecration & online attacks are so troubling & they need to be stopped. Everyone must speak out, starting
Homeland Security Secretary Gen. John Kelly on Tuesday released two memoranda, explaining how the Trump administration plans to implement the president´s executive orders designed to “stem illegal immigration” and remove illegal aliens “who have no lawful basis to enter or remain in the United States.” Notably, the new guidance exempts, for the time being, the 750,000 “dreamers” who came to this country as children and who received temporary legal status under President Obama Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. In fact, Kelly rescinded all previous immigration directives and guidance -- except for Obama´s 2012 DACA guidance dealing with individuals who came
Disgraced CBS newsman Dan Rather should never be able to live down Rathergate, the greatest media fraud of our time. It was, as John and I have argued, “Rather shameful.” If Rather isn’t able to live it down, it won’t be for lack of trying on his part. On the surface of the Flynn affair is what Rather calls “[t]his Russia scandal.” Rather opines. “On a 10 scale of Armageddon for our form of government, I would put Watergate at a 9,” Rather wrote on Facebook. “This Russia scandal is currently somewhere around a 5 or 6, in my opinion,
President Donald toured the National Museum of African American History in Washington, sending a signal of inclusion to the country in black history month days after defending him during a press conference as the ´least racist´ person. The president viewed a collection that included exhibits on the ´paradox´ of Thomas Jefferson´s slaveholding, got told about actual slave shackles in the museum´s collection, and learned about the bloody slave rebellions led by Nat Turner and Toussaint Louverture. He called the tour ´a meaningful reminder of why we have to fight bigotry, intolerance and hatred in all of its very ugly forms.´
The inevitable conflict between the mainstream media and Donald Trump has come to boil just four weeks into his presidency. The media are beside themselves that someone would castigate them at every opportunity and use hyperbole such as “enemy of the American people” and purveyors of “very fake news” to get under their skin, as their narcissism and sense of self-importance knows no bounds. They fail to understand why they are held in such disregard -- polling has revealed only 32% of Americans trust the media (down from 55% in 2000) and why so many cheer Trump’s visceral attacks. Over
An “antiracist” poster in a college writing center insists American grammar is “racist” and an “unjust language structure,” promising to prioritize rhetoric over “grammatical ‘correctness.´” The poster, written by the director, staff, and tutors of the University of Washington, Tacoma’s Writing Center, states “racism is the normal condition of things,” declaring that it permeates rules, systems, expectations, in courses, school and society. “Linguistic and writing research has shown clearly for many decades that there is no inherent ‘standard’ of English,” proclaims the writing center’s statement.
The Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago could require a $1.5 billion endowment, its architects say, three times what was raised for the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas. Husband-and-wife architectural team Tod Williams and Billie Tsien noted that it will be difficult to raise such a huge sum because Obama scrupulously declined to do much fund-raising while he was still in office. The Obama Center is due to be so expensive because it will require the construction of both a presidential library and a museum about the lives of Barack and Michelle Obama. And federal requirements now stipulate that former
Nearly 15 years ago, I informed my skeptical father that I was pursuing a job with the Central Intelligence Agency. Among his many concerns was that others would never believe I had resigned from the agency when I sought my next job. “Once CIA, always CIA,” he said. But that didn’t give me pause. This wouldn’t be just my first real job, I thought then; it would be my career. That changed when I formally resigned last week. Despite working proudly for Republican and Democratic presidents, I reluctantly concluded that I cannot in good faith serve this administration as an
Calls to boycott Wegmans Food Markets, a popular supermarket chain, because it sells Trump Winery products have backfired on the Prince William County, Virginia, chapter of the National Organization for Women. A spokeswoman for Wegmans, a New York-based company, told Fox News on Monday that Trump wines flew off its shelves last week. Out of 10 locations, only its Charlottesville store did not completely sell out. (Snip) Calls for boycotts began with a story involving Prince William County’s chapter of NOW in The Washington Post published Feb. 14. “Certainly if Wegmans is carrying Trump wines, I personally will not shop
Leftists on social media tore into First Lady Melania Trump, mocking her accent and religion and branding her everything from a hostage to a whore – all for the secular offense of reciting “The Lord’s Prayer.” Melania Trump began President Trump’s rally Saturday in Florida by delivering the prayer, which Christians – many of whom recite the prayer in church each week – believe was first said by Jesus Christ. The crowd at Orlando-Melbourne Airport received the prayer enthusiastically. Left-leaning social media users were a different story, however.
Chelsea Clinton took to the streets of New York on Sunday to stand in solidarity with the Muslim community and protest Muslim discrimination. Clinton brought along her young daughter Charlotte. (Snip) Linda Sarsour, a Muslim activist who is known for her vocal condemnation of Israel, gave a speech in which she discussed President Franklin Delano Roosevelt´s signing of executive order 9066, which put Japanese Americans in internment camps. Sarsour implied that President Trump would do the same with Muslims.
Anti-Trump activists have seized on Monday’s federal holiday to organize “Not My Presidents Day” rallies in cities around the country. Protest leaders say they expect thousands to take to the streets in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and as many as two dozen other communities in the latest round of demonstrations to oppose the policies of President Donald Trump. Some 13,000 Facebook users, for instance, say they plan to join a noon protest Monday near Manhattan’s Central Park. (Snip) “We do not accept Donald Trump as our president because he does not represent us,” she said, citing his policies on abortion
President Trump made a comment during his rally on Saturday about Sweden, and something he noted on Friday, the evening prior. President Trump was talking about the “refugee crisis” and his strict immigration proposals called “extreme vetting”. “We’ve got to keep our country safe,” he said. “You look at what’s happening in Germany. You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this? Sweden. They took in large numbers. They’re having problems like they never thought possible. You look at what’s happening in Brussels. You look at what’s happening all over the world. Take a look
ABC’s Jon Karl, filling in for George Stephanopoulos on This Week today, ended the program this morning with a few thoughts on President Trump‘s tweet calling the media the “enemy.” He first provided important context by saying there’s “nothing new” about presidents attacking the press, recalling what Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt said about reporters while they were in office. As for Trump himself, Karl said that many years ago, the New York mogul was “nothing but media-friendly” and during the campaign “he was the most accessible major candidate.” But he ended with this serious note about the president’s media
The governor of Connecticut is attempting to tap gun owners to help close the state´s $1.7 billion budget deficit. Gov. Dannel Malloy, a Democrat, has proposed increases to pistol permit fees. The five-year renewal fee for pistol permits would increase from $70 to $300, first-time five-year permits would increase from $140 to $370 and fees for background checks would increase from $50 to $75. The plan is expected to raise nearly $12 million per year in additional revenue, CBS News and The Associated Press reported. Gun-rights supporters and state Republican lawmakers said this increase would preclude many people from exercising
African Americans have run the White House kitchen as chefs, personal cooks, butlers, stewards and servers for every First Family for nearly one hundred and fifty years beginning with George Washington´s presidential term in the late 1700s. It was the black kitchen chefs and cooks who prepared the superb comfort food for the First Family and dazzled presidential guests with their cooking. Nearly every distinguished family in Washington had black servants, butlers and cooks in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Presidential families were no exception and there have been no less than 150 African Americans on the president´s culinary
The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), organized by the American Conservative Union, is regularly the most anticipated event on the conservative calendar. Although it has become increasingly circus-like in recent years, it remains the year’s foremost gathering of conservative activists, several days of speakers normally include leading officeholders, and it is considered a testing ground for prospective presidential candidates. Over the weekend, CPAC invited Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at this year’s event, happening later this week in Maryland. Of late, Yiannopoulos, a “tech editor” for Breitbart News, has been a regular guest on college campuses and a constant source of
