A solemn President Trump turned his Thursday afternoon announcement of a new labor secretary nominee into a screed against the media and large-scale defense of his first four weeks as president. It was remarkable. Trump hit all the usual points: The polls, the electoral college, the media, etc. He even said that he inherited a "mess" four separate times. There were grievances galore. Below is the transcript, which we´ll update as it comes in, along with our analysis and annotations. TRUMP: Thank you very much. I just wanted to begin by mentioning that the nominee for secretary of the Department of Labor will be
Comments: We watched the whole thing. It was a doozy. Worthy of cheering. He did a fantastic job. Read the transcript. I’ll try to find CTH’s video so that you can use your own eyes and ears!!!
A "solemn President Trump"? Aaron Blake must have seen a different news conference. The President seemed to be having a really good time. So did I. Trump recognizes that the lying liberal media are out to destroy his Presidency and is having none of it. He is happy to call things what they are. Muslims who want to kill and terrorize us are "radical Islamic terrorists", and the lying liberal media are the "opposition". Recognizing enemies for what they are is one of the first steps to defeating them, and for the good of America the lying liberal media must be defeated.
One thing for sure it was entertaining, one of a kind, things memories are made of, funny, made the rinos squirm, I am so glad I voted for this man moment, this made Saturday Night Live look like kindergarten!
Never heard anything remotely like it (POTUS: "The level of dishonesty is out of control.") in a presidential presser before, but I love it! The lumpen press establishment says Grumble grumble grumble. Go, President Trump! This is the way it´s going to be. From now on.
What´s really funny is that they whined and complained that he only took questions from conservative media. Then he took questions from them, but all they can write about is how he was a big meany to them!
Hardly road rage. Just an intelligent experienced president calling it as he - and we - see it. He has known all along what they were up to. It would not be a sign of strength for him to not call them on what they’re up to and appeal to their better natures. He simply asked them to tell the truth.
Those who show up attempting to mock other posters who support our president sometimes do not turn out well.
HEY...yeah, you at WA PO. I watched this brilliant man hang you and the other media liars out to dry. There was nothing combative,no grievance time, nothing. He worked without notes and no one, and I do mean NO ONE, could have missed what took place. This is the man I voted for and the man who has my confidence 100%. My phone has been ringing and everyone agrees. We´re all deplorables, all voted for President Trump, and all think you and your pals aren´t worth the price of a bag of year old garbage.
Way to go, President Trump. We´re with you, we have your back too.
LOL, #5 misses the empty rhetoric of every other pandering politician. The non answers the defensive response to the set up strawmen that the press lives by. Why? What possible progress could be achieved to advancing America with more bogus claims of ´the most transparent administration ever,´ by a fake who never had any intention of doing that and a room full of reporters who knew it. He should have played word games with them right George? This has to be George Will, right?
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who fatally shot Keith Lamont Scott will not face any internal disciplinary action from the department. The news followed a lengthy investigation into the September 20, 2016 shooting. Scott´s shooting death lead to several days of protesting and marches in the City of Charlotte. Talking with the family´s attorney Charles Monnett, they don´t agree with this ruling. "Mrs. Scott is extremely disappointed by the decision. She feels strongly that some sort of disciplinary action was appopriate," said Monnett. Scott´s lawyer refers back to CMPD´s policy which states an officer isn´t allowed to use deadly force against a suspect unless there´s
Hash browns sold under the Harris Teeter and Roundy´s brands have been recalled for an unusual reason: possible golf ball contamination. The Food & Drug Administration´s recall notice says that McCain Foods USA, Inc. has voluntarily recalled frozen hash browns sold under the Harris Teeter and Roundy´s brands because they may be "contaminated with extraneous golf ball materials, that despite our stringent supply standards may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes.”The FDA warns consumers that, "consumption of these products may pose a choking hazard or other physical injury to the mouth." No injuries have been reported, according to the FDA. The recalled
President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he would visit wounded U.S. veterans at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the armed forces hospital located in Bethesda, Maryland, outside Washington. Trump announced the visit at midday in a Twitter post. "Getting ready to visit Walter Reed Medical Center with Melania," he wrote, referring to his wife Melania Trump. In the tweet, Trump said, "Looking forward to seeing our bravest and greatest Americans!"
Deep-pocketed conservative groups that helped fuel the downfall of the House GOP’s Obamacare alternative are now quietly signaling they won’t oppose the White House’s renewed push to pass the bill. Some of the most influential — and usually loudest — groups have privately told conservatives they want to see a deal go through, according to several people familiar with the conversations. (Snip) The shift marks a sea change for President Donald Trump and Republican leaders, who had to contend with the same outside groups calling the earlier bill “Obamacare lite” — a label that made it all but impossible for the most
The new Clinton campaign tell-all, Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign, reveals how Hillary Clinton personally placed blame for her bruising defeat on Russian meddling “within twenty-four hours of her concession speech.” The blistering behind-the-scenes book, by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, illustrates how Hillary Clinton furiously blamed her defeat on the FBI investigation into her private emails, Russian interference, and Trump’s supposed support from “white nationalists.” From Shattered: On a phone call with a longtime friend a couple of days after the election, Hillary was much less accepting of her defeat. She put a fine point on the factors she believed cost
A new report from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Office of Inspector General (OIG) reveals startling failures during the Obama Administration that allowed 2.2 million deportable aliens to remain on the streets in a “supervised” status. Aliens with criminal convictions accounted for nearly 400,000 of that total. The report (attached below) issued by ICE Inspector General (IG) John Roth last week details several failures under the previous administration that built a tremendous backlog for deportation officers (DO). Those failures include imbalanced workloads for DOs, unachievable goals, a lack of clear policies and procedures, and insufficient training. ICE deportation officers work on
The Islamic State group is determined to move closer to Israel’s borders, Gaza-based Palestinian jihadist and IS supporter Abu Baker Almaqdesi told Breitbart Jerusalem in an interview. Addressing a recent attack against a monastery in Sinai in which an Egyptian police officer was killed, Almaqdesi said, “It’s clear that the goal of the brothers is to close in on all sides in the direction of occupied Palestine and fight the Jews with the intent of expelling them from Islamic lands.” Almaqdesi refers to the entire state of Israel as “occupied Palestine.” According to Almaqdesi, despite IS’s fronts in Syria, Iraq,
WASHINGTON — This year’s spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund are like one big therapy session for the global financial elites, and everyone is venting about the same issue: Donald Trump. After all the IMF is the ultimate "globalist" institution derided by Trump and his anti-foreign, trade-restricting supporters and advisers. Trump has already ditched the long-negotiated TransPacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal with 11 other nations in the region, is threatening to rip up other accords like the North-America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and has even hinted he may try to yank the United States out the 164-member World Trade
Peter Grier of Christian Science Monitor is surprised that Trump supporters still support President Trump. From Grier: President Trump’s rocky first months in office have not much bothered his voters. At least, not yet. Yes, there have been lots of stories from the Rust Belt about stirrings of discontent among the Trump faithful. But those are mostly anecdotal and so far data – meaning polls – don’t back that thesis up. For instance, in a big new Pew Research survey fully 92 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say Mr. Trump has done as well or better than they expected. Only
Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney appears on Bloomberg News to discuss the seismic, epic, thundershock confrontational clash that is about to take place between the Trump administration and the DC UniParty. There are no adjectives capable of describing the scope and immeasurable scale of the battle that is about to transpire between the White House and the Democrat/Republican UniParty. MONEY is where every entity within the full-swamp goes nuclear against President Trump and the administration. Despite all prior discussions toward this end, it is doubtful that more than one-in-a-million people can fully grasp the dynamic at play.
President Trump visited the Treasury Department today so sign one executive order and two presidential memorandums. The executive order requires Treasury to identify and lessen burdens from tax regulations issued in 2016. The two memorandum focus on examining and possibly revisiting two areas of the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial reform law in an effort to remove the regulatory and compliance burdens on smaller banks. When Dodd-Frank was instituted it was sold to the electorate as a bill to stop banks from becoming too big to fail, there were 12 massive banks under that definition. The goal was to create more national banks. Since
Donald Trump has a “dangerous mental illness” and is not fit to lead the US, a group of psychiatrists has warned during a conference at Yale University. Mental health experts claimed the President was “paranoid and delusional”, and said it was their “ethical responsibility” to warn the American public about the “dangers” Mr Trump’s psychological state poses to the country. (Snip) James Gilligan, a psychiatrist and professor at New York University, told the conference he had worked some of the “most dangerous people in society”, including murderers and rapists — but that he was convinced by the “dangerousness” of Mr
The Obamas have been taking a much-deserved break from politics since moving out of the White House. But next week, it´s back to reality. President Barack Obama will be in Chicago on Monday to discuss community organization and civic engagement. As we all know, the Obamas have impeccable taste in food, so it wouldn´t be surprising to see the former president surveying the Chicago dining scene when he returns stateside. Will he visit the renowned Alinea? Or return to an old Obama favorite, Spiaggia? Last September, my husband and I had a chance run-in with Barack and Michelle, who were in New York City for their last visit as
Tucker Carlson is moving to the much-coveted 8 pm time slot on Fox News on Monday, and with it comes news from Fox today that his first big interview will be with none other than Caitlyn Jenner. Per Fox News, Carlson and Jenner will speak on issues including “President Donald Trump’s administration, the current political climate and divide in America, as well as her thoughts on how to bring Americans together.” Jenner is returning to 20/20 tonight to speak once again with Diane Sawyer, and her appearance on Fox News Monday comes after Jenner’s comments to Sawyer about how while
Steel yourselves. Barack Obama’s about to emerge from the shadows — and first stop, University of Chicago. Why there? No doubt, it’s one of the more receptive breeding grounds for his particular brand of activism — the activism he’ll be touting to malleable student-age minds while engaging in, as his people called it, a “conversation about community organizing and civic engagement.” Make no mistake about it. This is about teaching the upcoming generation, loud as it already is about all topics that offend, to get even louder, even Leftist Prouder, and to — here’s the gist — use that Leftist
A Chicago artist has finished his mural of Michelle Obama in a colorful image that features the former first lady as an Egyptian queen. The painting by artist Chris Devins was completed Friday on the southeast corner of Chappel Avenue and 74th Street in South Shore. That´s two blocks from the former first lady´s childhood home at 7436 S. Euclid Ave. and across the street from Bouchet Elementary, which she attended when it was known as Bryn Mawr School. "I wanted to present her as what I think she is, so she´s clothed as an Egyptian queen. I thought that was appropriate,"
A Harvard University office devoted to LGBT issues reportedly has issued a flier telling students that gender identity can change as frequently as “day to day.” The flier from the Ivy League schools BGLTQ Student Life office, headlined “Get the facts about gender diversity,” informs readers that “Sex assigned at birth and gender identity are not necessarily the same,” Campus Reform reported Thursday. The flyer adds that “gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, hormonal makeup, physical anatomy, and/or how one is perceived in daily life.” The document also seems to categorize speech that challenges or disagrees with transgenderism as “violence.” “Transphobic misinformation is a
Outraged Muslims are reportedly planning a May 1 demonstration at the Amazon headquarters in Seattle, Washington. The company is under fire after several Muslim security guards demanded time and space to pray five times a day, while on the job. The guards contend in a lawsuit filed this week that the subcontractor who employs them does not appropriately accommodate their faith and retaliates against those who speak out. The Service Employees International Union and the guards allege that Amazon grants high-earning tech workers conference rooms to pray in, but they do not provide the same accommodation for contracted security officers
By his twenties, Kyle Kaylor imagined he would be living on his own, nearing a college degree, and on his way to a job that fulfilled him. Instead, at 21, he found himself out of school, living with his parents, and "stuck" working as a manager at a fast food restaurant scraping to make hand-to-mouth. Launching into adulthood has been tricky, he said. "It became too difficult financially to be in school and not working," says Kaylor, who dropped out of Lincoln Christian University, in Illinois, after one semester because of a money crunch. "And without schooling, you can´t get a job that
Former Vermont governor and Democratic National Comittee chairman Howard Dean called out conservative pundit Ann Coulter on Twitter. (Snip) The comment was in response to a former New York Times reporter who tweeted, "Free Speech Defenders Don´t Forget: Ann Coulter once said: My only regret w/ Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building." The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that "fighting words" are not constitutionally protected, meaning that the words would have to directly incite violence. Timothy McVeigh was an American terrorist responsible for the Oklahoma City bombings that killed 168 people and injured
The day before Bill O´Reilly was cut loose from Fox News after 20 years with the network, his handlers appeared to believe they had at least one more card to pull that might help save his job in the midst of a sexual harassment scandal engulfing the top-rated prime time host.On Tuesday, O´Reilly and his legal team debated whether to share with the leadership of parent company 21st Century Fox an April 13 email from Mary Pat Bonner, a Democratic fundraiser and ally of the liberal watchdog group Media Matters, which had spearheaded what she called an "advertiser education campaign"
Former President Barack Obama will make his first public appearance Monday, hosting an event on civic engagement on his old stomping grounds at the University of Chicago. The event, open to the public but with limited tickets, will bring together younger leaders and students “for a conversation on community organizing and civic engagement.” It won’t be an explicitly political event. As an Illinois state senator, Obama once represented the neighborhood where the campus is located and also was a law professor at the university. He last stopped by the campus in 2016, using an event at the law school to make a
Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld hosted the last installment of The Factor tonight and had the following to say on this “strange and historic day”: “In the Back of the Book segment tonight, we have come to the last line of the last page of this book. As most of you know, this is the final Factor. It has been an honor to sit in this chair over the years of filling in for Bill O’Reilly and to being a guest for the most influential television news program in history. But as the curtain comes down on this
