Donald Trump’s combative,
grievance-filled press
conference, annotated

Washington Post, by Aaron Blake

A solemn President Trump turned his Thursday afternoon announcement of a new labor secretary nominee into a screed against the media and large-scale defense of his first four weeks as president. It was remarkable. Trump hit all the usual points: The polls, the electoral college, the media, etc. He even said that he inherited a "mess" four separate times. There were grievances galore. Below is the transcript, which we´ll update as it comes in, along with our analysis and annotations. TRUMP: Thank you very much. I just wanted to begin by mentioning that the nominee for secretary of the Department of Labor will be

We watched the whole thing. It was a doozy. Worthy of cheering. He did a fantastic job. Read the transcript. I’ll try to find CTH’s video so that you can use your own eyes and ears!!!

A "solemn President Trump"? Aaron Blake must have seen a different news conference. The President seemed to be having a really good time. So did I. Trump recognizes that the lying liberal media are out to destroy his Presidency and is having none of it. He is happy to call things what they are. Muslims who want to kill and terrorize us are "radical Islamic terrorists", and the lying liberal media are the "opposition". Recognizing enemies for what they are is one of the first steps to defeating them, and for the good of America the lying liberal media must be defeated.

Just as President Trump predicted when he used the word "rant," the Washington Post reporter characterized the news conference as a negative "combative" and "grievance-filled" event.

Never mind that the press and the opposition party are on an endless mission to undermine, if not undo the results of the election.

Hardly road rage. Just an intelligent experienced president calling it as he - and we - see it. He has known all along what they were up to. It would not be a sign of strength for him to not call them on what they’re up to and appeal to their better natures. He simply asked them to tell the truth.

Those who show up attempting to mock other posters who support our president sometimes do not turn out well.

So, they´re really part of the fabric of our life. Although, admittedly, they´re here illegally.” King insisted, “But they´ve been

Congress,´ she teased, linking to an editorial from the Kansas City Star that said just that. ´Representing the people means showing up, even when the exchange may not be among friends,´ the paper´s editorial board said. During the campaign, now President Donald Trump had made his raucous rallies a positive talking point, while mocking the poor attendance of Clinton´s events. Now, he was
