President Trump welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the White House on Friday. Before the two world leaders held a press conference, they met in the Oval Office and shook hands. That 19-second handshake is one of the most talked about things on Twitter right now. “I shook hands but I grabbed him and hugged him because that’s the way I feel,” Trump said at the press conference in the East Room later. Trump and Abe are flying to Mar-a-Lago for a round of golf and “long talk” this weekend. (Entire article.)

Comments:

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s facial expression is shown in the first of the two videos posted to the website.

At least the video didn´t auto-play when the page loaded. I´ve tried for 17 years to steer clear of TV and video clips; but the forced auto-play stuff I REALLY despise.

All of the photos show them getting along famously.

Interestingly, it is President Trump’s voice we hear saying of PM Abe “strong hands”.

Have you noticed that we are not seeing the seat of President Trump’s pants as he bows to foreign dignitaries?

No fluttering hands on limp wrists as he “toy pony rides” down the stairs from Air Force One?

A man. A real man. Oh, happiness. Almost as good as John Wayne and the cavalry.

The March for Science is tomorrow and no one in their right mind would say they are against it because of its name. First of all, you are standing against the right of people to march for whatever cause they wish. Second, you would be portrayed as someone who is against science. I am all for science. I think the climate changes. It always has and always will. Yet I have been portrayed as anti-science and a climate change “denier” by many who will be marching for things I certainly believe in. Just who does not believe in science? It’s

Bethlehem (Palestinian Territories) - Down a Bethlehem alleyway, sunlight illuminates a golden icon of the Virgin Mary and Jesus, signalling the revival of an ancient art being practised in the workshop inside. The building near the Church of the Nativity -- the site where Christians believe Jesus was born -- houses a group of enthusiasts specialising in the sacred art of iconography. They are doing so some 2,000 years after Christian iconography began in nearby Jerusalem -- also where Christians believe Jesus was resurrected after his crucifixion, to be commemorated this Sunday for Easter.

In the past few months, we’ve witnessed an assortment of leftist groups trying their best to advance a discredited and pernicious narrative that attempts to link the current administration with a spike in white nationalist anti-Semitism. WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Monday accused Democrats of making up allegations that Russia interfered in last year´s election, and said Congress and the FBI should be going after media leaks instead. His tweets came just hours before a potentially politically damaging hearing in which FBI Director James Comey and National Security Agency Director Michael Rogers planned to testify on allegations of Russian hacking and whether there were any connections between Moscow and Trump´s campaign. “The Democrats made up and pushed the Russian story as an excuse for running a terrible campaign. Republican senators are asking Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to investigate claims that U.S. taxpayer money is being used to back left-wing billionaire George Soros´ political meddling and similar efforts overseas. A letter sent Tuesday asked for a probe into how U.S. funds are being used by agencies such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to back left-wing political groups in other countries. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, one of the co-signers, even said foreign officials and political leaders have come to him with "reports of U.S. activity in their respective countries."

When we study racial inequality, we tend to consider factors that affect people while they are awake. Differential access to safe neighborhoods with good schools, decent jobs and unbalanced treatment by police and the courts surely have much to do with the stubborn disparities in wealth and well-being among blacks and whites, in particular. Yet it may be just as important to consider what happens when we’re asleep. Race shapes our sleep, a relationship that has surprising roots deep in our national past. African Americans suffer from a “sleep gap”: Fewer black people are able to sleep for the recommended

A review of Donald Trump´s business career would lead one to say that he has always over-promised and under-delivered. Whether his long list of bankruptcies in the ever-profitable casino business, the failures of his "university,´ steak, vodka or clothing lines, there has been a history of putting himself first, while ignoring the needs of his constituents. We may be seeing that play out in his approach to government, as well. As in business, Trump has a constituency of one … himself … just ask his stock and bond investors, his suppliers, contractors, laborers, or even his customers. Unlike Trump, they rarely,

WASHINGTON — The day before he upended the 2016 election, James B. Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, summoned agents and lawyers to his conference room. They had been debating all day, and it was time for a decision. Mr. Comey’s plan was to tell Congress that the F.B.I. had received new evidence and was reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton, the presidential front-runner. The move would violate the policies of an agency that does not reveal its investigations or do anything that may influence an election. But Mr. Comey had declared the case closed, and he believed

Ex-President Barack Obama is the mystery man of American politics. Given the absence of a viable paper trail, nobody can say for sure who he is. He manifests for us as a figure of multiple identities: a Christian, a Muslim, a secularist, a socialist, a humanist, an intellectual, a man of the people. His lack of definable substance, his inner absence, has been an important political advantage. As Obama himself confessed (or boasted) in The Audacity of Hope, this layering of anonymities enabled him to “serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their
