Both President George H.W.Bush and former first lady BarbaraBush are now in a Houston hospital and will not attend Friday´s inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. (Snip) The 41st president president previously sent a letter to Donald Trump expressing his regrets he could not attend Friday´s presidential inauguration, adding he and the former first lady "will be with you and the country in spirit." In his letter -- penned Jan. 10, before he was hospitalized Saturday for breathing problems -- the former president quipped, "My doctor says if I sit outside in January, it likely will put me six feet under."

Comments:
President G. H. W. Bush further quipped that they were stuck in Texas; however, he wished Mr. Trump the very best and offered his help if ever needed.

I wish only the best for them both; but if they did want to avoid sitting outside in the freezing for a terribly long time, that´d be an adequate reason

They are older and the former President particularly not in good shape. We all know this election has been exceedingly devastating for the family. They get the finest of the finest medical care and I am glad. Prayers that they will be feeling well very soon.

We already knew the older Bush´s were not coming. His lower body Parkinson´s would not permit sitting in the bad weather like that. This is shoddy reporting by Fox News to act like they were coming.

The only news here is that they both are in the hospital. I am truly sorry to hear this news today. Makes me wonder if Junior Bush will be coming Friday.

Prayers for a speedy and full recovery for both. It seems that they got the ´crud´ that has been going around. While just an annoyance for me and others, it can be serious to those with compromised immunity. A reminder to all of us that those flu shots are not always 100%. (But they are still generally worthwhile.)

#9, not necessarily. I understand your concern, but my father survived two bouts of pneumonia, one at age 90 and and the second at age 93. If it´s bacterial pneumonia, it´s very easily treatable with i.v. infusions of antibiotics. Sometimes patients with a host of pre-existing and terminal condition are allowed to die of pneumonia. And viral pneumonia, as opposed to bacterial pneumonia, is a killer.

In any case, I wish President and Mrs. Bush full and speedy recoveries

The March for Science is tomorrow and no one in their right mind would say they are against it because of its name. First of all, you are standing against the right of people to march for whatever cause they wish. Second, you would be portrayed as someone who is against science. I am all for science. I think the climate changes. It always has and always will. Yet I have been portrayed as anti-science and a climate change “denier” by many who will be marching for things I certainly believe in. Just who does not believe in science? It’s

Bethlehem (Palestinian Territories) - Down a Bethlehem alleyway, sunlight illuminates a golden icon of the Virgin Mary and Jesus, signalling the revival of an ancient art being practised in the workshop inside. The building near the Church of the Nativity -- the site where Christians believe Jesus was born -- houses a group of enthusiasts specialising in the sacred art of iconography. They are doing so some 2,000 years after Christian iconography began in nearby Jerusalem -- also where Christians believe Jesus was resurrected after his crucifixion, to be commemorated this Sunday for Easter.

A review of Donald Trump´s business career would lead one to say that he has always over-promised and under-delivered. Whether his long list of bankruptcies in the ever-profitable casino business, the failures of his "university,´ steak, vodka or clothing lines, there has been a history of putting himself first, while ignoring the needs of his constituents. We may be seeing that play out in his approach to government, as well. Outraged Muslims are reportedly planning a May 1 demonstration at the Amazon headquarters in Seattle, Washington. The company is under fire after several Muslim security guards demanded time and space to pray five times a day, while on the job. The Service Employees International Union and the guards allege that Amazon grants high-earning tech workers conference rooms to pray in, but they do not provide the same accommodation for contracted security officers

The move would violate the policies of an agency that does not reveal its investigations or do anything that may influence an election. But Mr. Comey had declared the case closed, and he believed

When we study racial inequality, we tend to consider factors that affect people while they are awake. Differential access to safe neighborhoods with good schools, decent jobs and unbalanced treatment by police and the courts surely have much to do with the stubborn disparities in wealth and well-being among blacks and whites, in particular. Yet it may be just as important to consider what happens when we’re asleep. Race shapes our sleep, a relationship that has surprising roots deep in our national past. African Americans suffer from a “sleep gap”: Fewer black people are able to sleep for the recommended
